Boys' Night

Rate this book
Emily is on a crusade to advance the cause of women's rights. She writes a controversial and incendiary blog called The Radical Feminist where she challenges the male power structure that has oppressed generations of women, tackling issues of equal pay, reproductive rights, and the pervasive culture of rape. Every day she receives dozens of death and rape threats. She has learned to ignore them as little more than the impotent tantrums of weak men, terrified of losing their place of privilege and power...

Until one night they show up on her doorstep. Boy's Night.

3 It ain’t no fuuuun! If the homies can’t haaaaave none. STARS

"Strong women threaten you and make you feel weak, so you have to try to knock them down, hurt them and humiliate them, so you feel like men again, instead of the weak, impotent little boys that you are."

description

“I’ve known assholes like you all my life. You hate all women because some woman somewhere broke your heart, or because the girls you like just never seem to be interested in you. Am I right? You see women with better jobs than you, bigger homes, driving nicer cars, women who don’t need a man to take care of them.

Pudo estar mejor.

Extreme Horror warning: This is extreme horror. The content is graphic. The story is graphic. The action is graphic. The violence is graphic. It is all graphic. Don’t read it and then complain about it being graphic.

Moving on, Wrath James White and Matt Shaw are both very well known as masters of the Extreme Horror subgenre, although they have very different styles. When I first heard of this as an upcoming project, I could not imagine how these two styles would blend. But blend they did. Into a bloody nail-biter of a horror ride.

Boys’ Night is fast paced and in-your-face. The content is presented in a very graphic fashion, but it is not just gratuitous. This is the collision of the extreme feminist and the criminally abusive. The characters are almost surprisingly well fleshed out individuals who continue to develop during the story. The action is frighteningly detailed and depraved and the whole story moves at a suspense filled pace much like speeding down a dark back road in a pony car knowing something is going to run out in front of you at some point.

So, technical excellence aside, let me say about the story itself that it is just wonderfully twisted. And then it twists some more with a shocking and sickening subplot reveal. This one is going to hurt your brain and tighten your body. So, if you’re into that, enjoy!

"His erection bounced from his underwear like a Jack-in-the-box."

I am not gonna lie. When I read this sentence and the image of this happening ran thru my head I giggled. That sentence is at the end of this crazy ass story and I probably shouldn't have been giggling. Leaves me asking myself....What is wrong with you? The ending is pretty gory and bloody. Right up my alley!! This one is delightful!! Blood and guts and a nice little plot twist that you may not see coming.

Happy Reading and Splatter On.....

I'm a huge fan of WJW, and fast becoming a huge fan of Matt Shaw too, so imagine my delight when I realised this book was co-written by both of them! And they did not disappoint, let me tell you!

Emily is a passionate feminist blogger, she is one tough woman, she wont go down without a fight…. and what a fight she puts up!
Tina is a woman who just happens to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time…the time being Boys Night!
The guys participating in Boys Night are sick, twisted, evil rapists, but they have no idea what they are getting themselves into….
Sandra is an ex who wants a chance at making up….

The stars align and a lot of these people end up in the same place together, where brutal, sadistic, insanity fuelled revenge takes place! Brutal karma is dished out with utter carnage, and a shitload of blood is unleashed!

Very dark, very disturbing, very deep, yet with a fantastic storyline that keeps you hooked, and an extremely satisfying ending!!

I want to start by saying that this isn't a sexploitation piece. The sexy cover and description may give that impression but you shouldn't pass it up thinking this is just a couple of guys typing out their violent rape fantasies and selling it to the masses. Is there graphic sexual violence and rape? Absolutely, it wouldn't be a Wrath James White novel with out it. As usual though it is there to horrify and not to titillate. Some of it is even intentionally ironic and introspective of extreme feminism. I must also point out that the male antagonists usually get what they give to the extreme. If you manage to remain aroused through the more graphic scenes of this novel let's not be friends ok :)

I really enjoyed Boy's Night and if you are a fan of Hardcore Horror and Splatterpunk you will too.

3.5 ⭐️ Emily has recently separated from her girlfriend. Besides protesting and blogging her hatred for men, she decided to pick up a few men online to get a sexual fix. During this time, her girlfriend decided she wants to reconcile. When Emily gets a knock at the door, one night expecting her girlfriend ,four men decided to break into her home. It is boys night after all. Only these four men and Emily get a lot more than they bargained for. I’ve searched for this book for almost 2 years now. Sadly, I found it to be rather unrealistic for a home invasion and Emilys man bashing was a bit too repetitive for me.

In one corner you have Emily who has a blog and podcast called "The Radical Feminist". On the subject of rape she feels that women bear the guilt and the men bear no responsibility. She has recently split with her girlfriend Sandra so she goes out on a date with Bill. She doesn't really like men much but does enjoy the sex.
In the other corner we have 4 waste of skin scumbags who think all women want it even if they say "NO!"
Emily and these guys are on a collision course and when they meet all hell breaks loose and the twists and turns in the story will make your head spin in a horrific but somewhat satisfying endgame.
If you love extreme horror this is a must read.

I enjoyed this book. But there was one scene that was so well-written and graphically described. I had to skip over {to brutal for me} This book is full of angriest, brutal torture, sexual violence and one awesome twisted ending. Lol.

A bunch of sick, depraved, women hating fucks who have a history of raping women decide to do this to a feminist blogger and go to her house. The home invasion starts, physical abuse, one guy decides to check a locked room in the house and sets off a shot gun trap exploding his intestines and toxic gut fluids pour out. The women will wear a anti rape device inside her that shreds dicks and her extreme ideas come to the surface as a serial killer.

Hell yeah! What a book. I had an idea of what might be coming while reading but I was shocked at the little twist that was thrown in. And what an awesome twist it was. Vengeance is always sweet when the receiver, or receivers in this case, deserve it so deeply.

Wow!

I am not even sure what to say?!
This is my 3rd book that I have read by Matt Shaw & my first of Wrath James White; I was super impressed with the writing(though extremely squeamish in parts). The subject of rape is very difficult to discuss, whether it is from the "control" aspect of it or the actual horrific act itself. Both writers handled this subject well, in my opinion.
Certain scenes made me very upset, made me really mad at the audacity of the characters(but that just shows that the writing is superb).
Absolutely LOVED the plot twist & shouted a " whoo-hoo" towards the end.
Extreme horror at its finest.
(Reminded me a bit of a cross between A Clockwork Orange & Teeth).
Great read but not for faint of heart.

Not for everyone

Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down! These attackers messed with the wrong woman!! What starts out seeming like the story is going one way does a complete turn-around and ends up going another totally different way. There are surprises in this story!

Don't bother

Poorly written and a rushed ending. Not good. The plot started well but lost pace rapidly. I won't read any more of this author's work. Sorry.

107 pages aren’t really that much.
107 pages of Wrath James White promises a massacre.
107 pages of Matt Shaw promises a psychologically rape.
107 pages of Wrath James White and Matt Shaw carve inexorably into the convolution of your brain and leave a smile in you face, as it is worthy of a psychopath – or just a ladies‘ man…

Like I said ”Boys‘ Night“ is a novella – little time to build a story or to give the characters a development…
…how wrong can one be!
Finally we’re not talking about any backwoods-authors, but two masters of (modern) Horror/Splatterpunk!

To throw the reader such a story with such a character development just 107 pages in the face – I swear to Lee (here representing for “God”), there are only a few able to: two of them are White and Shaw!

You read a lot of White and feel a lot of Shaw – a terrific mix, which I definitely want more often from now on!

White’s character-buildup and brutality meets Shaw’s character- and story-development – evil, dirty, merciless and raw.

”Boys‘ Night“ reminded me a little bit of Mike Mendez‚ awesome movie-debut “Killers”: expect the unexpected… and straight in your face, SOAB!

Well, prisoners being taken, but not with the intention of ever letting them go again!

The end balances on a razor blade: on the one side the (sentimental) schlock grows on, on the other side rots the triviality.
If the story took too much drive, it would be cut, too slow, it would be dissected by its own weight.
And what at first seems like a wobbly balancing act, finally shows up as a planned ride on rails – and even a certain (spiteful) wink finds its place!

Also, my concern that one of the authors, as unfortunately too often in a cooperation, get lost, was not confirmed. Instead, these two masters of horror complement, potentiate, actually complete their skills into a campaign of vengeance of unforeseeable consequences – or like Dave Mustaine sang:

My thinking is derailed
I’m tied up to the tracks
The Train of Consequences
There ain’t no turning back

(Megadeth: Youthanasia – Train of Consequences)

For genre-beginners a nice way to get familiar to both authors (to more or less equal parts) on the one hand, on the other hand, it’s to handle with crae, because 107 pages do not give much room to breathe…

…and for this Boys‘ Night, you need some stamina.

There isnt much excuse for anyone not to smash this one out and that I did. I have little time for reading but this one is so short, I still was done with it in a week. Now, I read a lot of extreme horror. And I have only read one of each of both Shaw and White's work. So this was a freshy for me. Honestly, I wasnt sure I could get through it after reading the first couple chapters and that says a lot for me considering I have read A LOT of extreme horror. Edward Lee is the only one that has made my stomach churn thus far. Closely followed by Jack Ketchum. But this one is hard to stomach for those first few chapters. It is disgustingly graphic and the characters are absolute pond scum of human beings. If you could call them that. But this one does pick up as the book goes along. It moves from one stage to another as the tables turn and I guess that is what saves it and makes it easier to read. Not necessarily that it got less graphic, or that the violence was easier to stomach as the tables turned as that is not necessarily the case. It is more the fact that the book shifts to a more bigger picture rather than focusing on a small graphic topic/action. And it saved it. I went from wondering if I could finish this book at all to actually really enjoying it. Nice twist, well written, characters are all as equally ugly as each other (especially on the inside) but it was tight, worked, entertaining and definitely 'graphic' and 'extreme' horror. Which many try to throw that label on the cover and it rarely lives up to that. This one however, does. If you love the gruesome stuff where people are just horrible to one another and you like it as gory AF too then this is your book. Great combination. Will probably give it a go for sure if these too team up again. Or should I say 'for shaw' Yeah okay, that was terrible. But great book none the less.

Extremely Better than Expected

While I have few friends who Love Horror like I do, very few of those like Extreme Horror as I do, but that's okay. After all, we can't all be rainbows and unicorns, that would be boring. I love the way the characters, the storyline, and even the flow of events keep you on your toes. I especially loved the ending, for once surprising me (in a good easy of course). Can't wait to see what these two dream up next!

Twists I wasn't expecting

Emily is a radical feminist that blogs how she feels about men. She gets threats about her blogging but, she doesn't let it faze her. These boy's go out looking for some unsuspecting women to rape and abuse. Little did they know the trouble they were in for when they went after Emily. Emily has a dark secret that even her girlfriend Sandra didn't know about. I really liked this story and how things went down.

Never under estimate the power of deep seeded HATE!!

Not for the moral or squeamish reader, but I liked the brutal violence that jumps off the page and strangles you until you finish this story, and makes us as readers of the macabre, question what makes a person evil? But in the end we must all come to the realization that the only real monsters in this world are humans themselves!!

Brutal.
Shocking.
Uncompromising.
I genuinely found some scenes difficult to read.
A good twist in store for those that persevere and soldier through the shocking early parts.
Not what I expected twist wise, either.

Certainly not for the light hearted.
But, it IS Matt Shaw and Wrath doing what they do.
Banned on Amazon too.

Personally, I would have liked the characterization to be a little more developed and less cliché. But I like revenge tales and the socio-political commentary was interesting. I think this would make a kick-ass movie.
