A charity auction causes a lot of emotions to get out of hand when the bidding for various items gets heated.
One item, a donut making lesson offered by Suzanne, is declared a tie when two rivals find a way to both place a winning bid. Problems start the next morning when only one winner shows up and the other is found in a bad position.

This one was an attempt at murder. I really am glad for that. It makes a nice change.
At one point, Grace is following Suzanne and Jake to the diner, but she isn't in the rest of the book. That was not nice. Also, on the bottom of page 146, the word buss is used instead of kiss.
It amazes me how nasty all the suspects get in some of these. It's so hard to tell who the killer is, plus the others are just nasty characters that stay in town. I would watch my back all the time with people like that, having had to butt heads with them. I'm sure they hold grudges.

I’d watch my back with Suzanne.
George is a murder suspect - and Suzanne actually considers him one. What’s the point of having loyal friends if they aren’t loyal?
Of course we’re talking about the same woman (the main character) who's always bashing Emma’s father and says she trusts Emma but then instantly insults her and questions her integrity.
So…I guess I’m just wrong here. Suzanne is a great friend who is not loyal or kind. Got it.
(Usually I want to visit these fictional cozy towns. But now I’m glad I’ll never accidentally step into April Springs! I’d have better luck in Cabot Cove.)

Yet another wonderful donut mystery book. Even though main characters have switched from back stage to front stage and some from front stage to back stage the book is still enjoyable. Like always Beck sucks me in to feel like I’m really there and that the characters are alive and my friends. On to the next one.

Another great donut book. Suzanne and Jake always make a great team. Never a doubt in my mind that they wouldn't find out who done it. Cannot wait for the next book to come out.

Meh
Too many errors and inconsistencies. Also the trope of “catching” the wrong criminal is played out. This one needed a large influx of Grace.

Another interesting read! Engrossing to the end!

Although the title really didn't have much to do with the plot, this was a good cozy mystery and the inevitable recipes didn't intrude on the story.
