Eucla: one of the last safe towns in Australia, a place where Aaron and Matt King thought they'd be sheltered from the apocalyptic violence sweeping the rest of the world. But a mysterious ship has drifted up from the wintry southern ocean, disturbing Eucla's fragile peace - while Aaron and Matt have uncovered a thrilling secret in the strange dreams that have afflicted them since the rise of the undead.
As winter sets in, Aaron, Matt and the other survivors of Eucla find themselves thrust into danger once again, on a perilous voyage that will send them across the cold and storm-wracked islands of Australia's southern shores - and lead them to a discovery that will change everything...
This series continues to be quite enjoyable. I like the fact that the POV switches between the two brothers for each book. Second book was narrated by Matt, but in this one we are back to Aaron.
Things go from bad to worse here, and not because of the zombies. Our survivors are forced to flee Eucla and set sail on a cargo ship. And while they all end up in a relatively safe place in the end, it's only the beginning of the adventure for Matt and Aaron.
I am not sure how I feel about the introduction of the alien factor to the story, though it's been hinted on and doesn't come as a huge surprise. After all, it was said in the beginning of book 1 that a meteor crash started this whole nightmare. And since people were busy getting eaten by the dead and the government was collapsing, nobody had time to investigate whether it was really just a meteor or something else entirely.
I admit that as far as alien invasions go, this is rather ingenious: make humanity destroy itself by raising the dead... then occupy the empty planet. That also explains why zombies are attracted to any place with living humanity, no matter how quiet people are being. They were designed that way.
It will be interesting to see where the author takes us in the next book.
You did not just end like this… Well, the stakes suddenly got way higher than I ever thought possible. Honestly, this took a wild turn, and I’m very curious to see where this is going. The narrative keeps shifting from one brother to the next with every book, so I’m guessing we’ll be following Matt again for the next book? Since the story is also quite ahead now, there’s not a lot I can mention without going into spoiler territory, and I do believe is better if people go blind into the book, I certainly enjoyed it better. Let’s just say there’s enough action to get the pace going, there’s also a lot of parts where it stalls a little, mostly there’s a lot of unanswered questions, but I think there’s still 3 books left, so plenty of time to figure things out.
Wow the story really stepped up a notch in this 3rd book, I can't wait to read the next one! I'm really enjoying these books, they are very well-written & well-plotted out, very nicely crafted works of zombie fiction (a genre which generally produces badly-written crud). If these were available as physical books, I would buy them for my shelf! I wish they were made into a movie, it would be blow-away. Great stuff.
Although the story line is good and I am enjoying the series, book three is filled with spelling errors, grammar issues and incorrect usage of the tense of words. It seems like you can't read a paragraph without running into some sort of issue that should have been caught in the editing process. It's very frustrating and if I weren't already so invested in the series I wouldn't read another book by this author.
As a zombie novel it's exceptional. However it veers into the realm of sci- fi. It should be either one or the other. Never the twain shall meet. It usually ends badly. However having said that I will read book four and hope I am proven wrong.

The adventures of Matt and Aaron continue. Still a fun read, as there is no let up in book three. By the end of this book, the story enters the realm of sci-fi. On to book four. (Note: The version I read is Volume 3 of End Times: The Complete Series (Books 1-6 Box Set).)
