Francis Nigel Lee, born in 1934, is a Preacher, theologian, lawyer, educationist, historian, philosopher and author.
Dr. Lee's father was an Atheist, who married a Roman Catholic. Lee's mother raised him in that faith. At the onset of the Second World War, the Lee family moved to South Africa.
Dr. Lee is a Calvinist and a postmillennialist. He is a strong advocate of infant baptism.
After he moved to South Africa, Dr. Lee became a Calvinist, and later a Minister of Word and Sacraments in the Reformed Church of Natal.
After emigrating to the US, he attended the first General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America, and became a minister of that denomination. Within the PCA he pastored congregations in Mississippi and Florida.
Lee has produced more than 300 publications (including many books), some of which are available at his website.
Just finished Dr. Francis Nigel Lee's "Communist Eschatology: A Christian Philosophical Analysis of the Post-Capitalistic views of Marx, Engels, and Lenin" (1974).
Took me three months to plough through the 1,000 pages.
It consists of three main sections - Historical, Doctrinal and Critical.
The Doctrinal section clearly presents the Communist position without comment, followed by a Critical section that points out the theoretical problems, contradictions, and transcendental issues with Communist teaching and teachers, demonstrating the superiority and sufficiency of Christian Biblical teaching to answer all of Communism's claims and to solve all world affairs. It's followed up by a Christian Manifesto for Christian world domination (as opposed to Communistic world domination) and finishes with a chronological table of Communist events.
The work addresses events before 1974, not covering the fall of the Soviet Union or any Communist related event after that date. The work is relevant for today and is not made redundant by its being some fifty years old, because the authorities of Communist teaching are widely regarded to be Marx, Engels and Lenin - all others such as Trotsky, Stalin, Mao, Kruschev, so on and so forth, being lesser players and often divided among themselves, but all claiming Marx, Engels and Lenin to be the supreme Communists beyond dispute. In that sense, the book being focused on the writings and doings of those three men, has lasting significance.
The emphasis of the work is on Eschatology (Futurology) according to Marxism (aka Marx "a world to win" and Socialist emphasis upon Internationalism). Dr. Francis Nigel Lee is very optimistic of the ultimate downfall of Communism, in light of Christian eschatological claims for Christ's ultimate Sovereign Kingship.
One thing that stood out to me is how strongly influenced our modern world (as the ancient world was too) by socialistic doctrines, and also by materialism. Many of the social movements and reforms of the twentieth century were Communistic in principle and have entrenched the modern institutions and our view of the world today more than we are even aware of.
Hard copies of this "Big Red Book" (as opposed to Chairman Mao's "Little Red Book" 😆) are quite rare to come by these days, but the whole thing is actually available for free online. I'll leave a link in the comments. Highly recommend this work.
The famed Richard Wurmbrand commended it with these words: "The communist ideal will not materialise. It's kingdom is one of hatred. It will not have the last triumph. Every work which shows the fallacy of their teaching can only be helpful, and I thank Dr. Lee for devoting the time to render mankind this service."
