Twice-buckled American Extreme Bull Riders tour world champion Kane Wilder is riding high at the top of his game, rolling in fame, adulation, women, and money. When he hits his hometown of Phoenix, he’s sure of another win. Nothing shakes his confidence and focus–until he comes face-to-face with his former friend and lover, Sky, holding the hand of a toddler with his eyes and trademarked dark curls and smile. Suddenly winning is about more than sticking his ride for eight seconds.

When one of her artworks is chosen for a world class hospital guild art auction, Sky Gordon thinks she’s finally going to make a name for herself artistically and cleanse her life and heart of Kane Wilder for good. But when Kane shows up at the gallery and learns the secret she’s kept, Sky realizes more’s at stake than just her pride and heart. Kane may be even more devastatingly sexy, but he doesn’t take no for an answer, and he plays to win at any cost.

Sinclair has loved reading romance novels since she discovered Barbara Cartland historical romances when she was in sixth grade. By seventh grade, she was haunting the library shelves looking to fall in love over and over again with the heroes born from the imaginations of her favorite authors. After teaching writing classes and workshops to adults and teens for many years in Seattle and Portland, she returned to her first love of reading romances and became an editor for Tule Publishing last year. Sinclair lives in Oregon’s wine country where she and her family own a small vineyard of Pinot Noir and where she dreams of being able to write at a desk like Jane Austen instead of in parking lots waiting for her kids to finish one of their 12,000 extracurricular activities.

3.5 Picking Up The Pieces Stars
* * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
Being young and full of dreams can be a wonderful thing...but it is the being young which can cause all the pain and miscommunication...Because when we are young and on the brink of becoming adults, we think we have learned so much just by getting there. So naturally, we think "Our Decisions are the Right Ones...For the Good of Everyone..."

Wrong...and you know how that goes...

Kane (American Extreme Bull Riders Tour Book 6) by Sinclair Jayne is the latest entry to this series that has taken over my reading time. When a new book pops up, I am compelled to read it. All of the books are about these fearless men who ride the circuit and just from reading these stories, I have huge respect for what they do and how dangerous it is.

Kane is at the top of his game.
He is consistently winning and has become the face of the franchise. He started out up and coming like all the other cowboys, but as he learned the ways of the bulls, what to look for in how they moved, how to move his own body and stay above and centered...things started to fall into place.

It also didn't hurt that he was Damn, Good Looking... with eyes so different and amazing, you would never forget seeing them... the crystal blue, sliver gray...unique and oh, so captivating. Match it with dark hair and a body lean, long, muscular and perfectly proportioned and you had some kind of carved statue ambling on this earth. But Kane wasn't just a pretty face and body... nope, Kane had a nerdy brain... always contemplating his next move. He loved numbers and had been putting up with the marketing/publicity machine for years in order to sock away all the funds he needed to make his goal a reality.

For Kane had a very complicated background and part of it was due to how he came to be...His mother had a tryst with a well to do man and then the man wanted nothing to do with her when she became pregnant with Kane. All during his childhood and later, this was a factor in his life. With his mother, heartbroken, she would thrust this kid in the man's path. These actions warped how Kane felt about the man and sometimes himself. Eventually the mother centered herself and was able to focus on a career in law. She was then able to have the man finally own up to his financial obligations....

But the emotional damage for Kane was done...

Sky Gordon's life wasn't the outside picture it was cracked up to be...When Kane became best friends with her brother...he saw the family life he had dreamed of...Perfect dinners at the table, a mother and father fawning over their children and the kids seeming to be loved and cared for without worry. Kane became a fixture with her brother... and when her brother, Bennington, decided to become a bull rider like Kane...her parents would have none of it.

Bennington became a casualty of the sport like so many others and when this tragedy happened, Kane came right away from where he had been to see to Sky. He wanted to make sure she was dealing with it. Then over time, Sky decided to let Kane know... she was interested in Kane.

It was the best of times for them both...Sky made Kane feel centered and happy... all his doubts about himself would disappear and he could breathe. Sky bloomed into this perfect woman... talented in the arts, she would take photo after photo of Kane in his chaps, on bulls or just walking around the corrals...

These two were experiencing nirvana...when these two were together....they could not keep themselves apart... the times together were like nothing they had ever experienced...they would always be touching or holding hands...

It was the summer with 19-year-old Sky setting about to return to college. Her ultimate goal was to get her MFA. Kane was starting to meet sponsors and have to do events with all of the trappings of models and rich fans. Kane didn't want to share Sky with anyone...he wanted her all to himself. He also was aware of how talented she was so he knew he couldn't hold her back from her goals...

When the summer was over and they parted as they had initially planned, both were hurting...because for Kane, Sky was it... she made him feel whole... but he had to let her achieve what she wanted...

And Sky was just as broken when she said goodbye...she loved Kane hard...it hurt he didn't turn around and ask for her to go on the road with him. She also hurt because she made the ultimate sacrifice...

Both of these people go forward with a hole in their hearts...It is four years later and Kane is now at the top of his career. He has won the top place of the AEBR twice, he is set on the path to winning it again. He has sponsors galore and a bank account loaded to help him accomplish what he had set out to do all those years ago. He is a cog in the bull riding industry wheel and the PR machine sometimes annoys the hell out of him.

And right now would be one of those times. He has been called in to find out why a copyrighted image of him was up for auction as a sculpture in Phoenix. As soon as Kane sees it, he knows exactly who made it. He lets the powers that be know he will fix this and travels off to Phoenix all stirred up.

Sky is not in her comfort zone...she is all dolled up in clothes she would never pick out, being pushed to be this product by the handsy art gallery owner. Sky has been doing a balancing act with him. He is important because his gallery is well known for fine art and represents only the best in the area. Her MFA collection was award-winning and the word got out about these amazing western sculptures. She was asked by a Dr. from the local hospital to see what she had and he picked out this piece to be donated.

It was ironic he picked that one out as it was Kane, riding and soaring above the bull... She had taken license with it by him not having his shirt, protective vest on. It clearly showed the tattoo he had on his back...and it was something she never stopped loving. But it was time for her to move on, she had to stop loving him as she had...

This book starts explosively with the two of them... Kane on a path directly to Sky...and then it becomes even more intense...with all the emotion and love you could want. These two Never stopped loving each other... and the proof of the love they had was right in front of both of them.

Kane is Alpha all the way and Sky is this woman who knows she made mistakes. Each must go through their emotional arc to get to where they need to be with each other. I loved Kane's intensity and his desires to make things different than how he had been raised, it was totally understandable. Sky had her reasons at the time...at least she thought she did... but as she began to see clearly...and she was determined to make things better.

There are some other factors in this tale... and I happened to like the fact things were proven to be just as Kane said. I also liked that we got a taste of Gage. I think his book may be coming soon.

As I said earlier, this is an addictive series. You settle in and know each of these men has their own reasons for being the hardcore Bull Riders they are. It is the peeling away of their layers with the meeting of women who are strong enough to see each of them as the men they truly are.

If you're into Cowboys, this is one series you're gonna want to read. This is my third book I've read from the American Extreme Bull Riders series and I've loved all three! Even though they are from different authors, each author has captured the Alpha Cowboy to perfection.

The intensity of Kane was so hot, Sky didn't stand a chance. This one is a second chance romance and Kane may have let her go the first time, but he sure isn't letting her go the second time, despite her betrayal. I don't want to reveal any spoilers but I feel it's important to state Sky's betrayal does not involve cheating. The way Kane retrieved what belonged to him would have many a women jealous.

This is a higher angst read with the book spending the majority of the time with Sky and Kane's reconciliation, but it's worth it to read how take charge Kane is. The author also got me very interested in two of the side characters that have books of their own. I'll be diving into those soon! ARC provided by NetGalley.

This series just gets better and better. Each book written by a different author and showcasing a different rider and his woman. I’ve loved each and every one of them I’ve read.

Kane and Sky have known each other for years and she has always been in love with him. At nineteen they come together for a summer and her love for him is solidified. Unfortunately, despite having strong feelings for her as well, he’s closed off and secretive so he allows her to leave not knowing that she is carrying his baby.

Yeah, that’s right. This is a second chance, secret baby romance and usually they don’t work for me. However, ultimately, I could see how both of these characters were at fault for their lengthy separation. Communication is paramount but not always conducive to the plot of such a story.

This is a fast paced book with characters that evolve and develop as the story progresses. Montana, their three year old was written exceptionally well and I’m always a sucker for children in romance.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

I guess I'm in the minority, again, but I did not like Kane, either the book or the character. I could not connect to Kane and Sky's story, I didn't like either of them, and I never felt their connection to be the strong, forever kind of connection that great love stories require.

Sky has a secret, a secret she kept from her first and only lover, Kane, a professional bull rider. And he will meet that secret, head, on when he comes crashing back into Sky's life after having been absent from her life for 4 years. You see, Sky had spent a summer when she was 19 falling in love with her brother's best friend. When he dropped her off at the airport, dismissing her from his life casually, she figured she'd never see him again. Why would she? After all, she had told him many times she loved him and he never said it back, never acted as if she were anything other than a hot fuck for the summer. So, when she kept a huge secret from him, I absolutely, 100%, empathized with her and completely understood why she didn't tell him. That doesn't mean that she shouldn't have told him, because she absolutely should have, but I understand why she didn't.

And yet, when Kane comes back into her life, he seriously cannot comprehend why she didn't tell him her secret. He's so angry and he takes it out on her for the rest of the book, right up until almost the very end. Even after he tells her they'll start over, no secrets, no more anger, he still holds it over her head, is still mad at her and isn't sure he can forgive her. Even after she explains to him her reasons, which, admittedly, were kind of lame, he doesn't accept them and doesn't get over how mad he is at her. He demands everything from her, though, and never reciprocates. "You demand everything from me--every thought and fear and hurt--and then you just stand there pretending that you're perfect." And that is what really frustrated me about him. He was such an asshole with no understanding of other people, he was completely selfish and self-absorbed. I love me an alpha man, which he is, but that alpha has to have some kind of softness to him, otherwise he's not bearable, and Kane never displayed that, not until the absolute end. To me he was the worst parts of an alpha and none of the good parts. Yeah, no thanks.

And then there's Sky. Oh God, she's the worst kind of heroine - a complete and utter doormat with no spine until the end when she finally, finally started standing up to Kane, started standing up for herself. Most of the book she literally whispered her words, seriously! If I did a word count of the word "whisper" it would probably be in the 100 range. God, there is nothing I hate more than a spineless doormat, female or male. I absolutely cannot stand that type of character. And that is exactly what Sky is for about 99% of Kane. Yuck.

About the only part of Kane I liked were Montana (the person) and Colt (Kane's brother). Everything else is a no go for me. I didn't like Kane, I didn't like Sky and I didn't like their story. Sigh...

For some unknown reason, especially considering I’m not all about angst and hate stupid communication issues, I occasionally get in the mood for a book with a secret baby in it. But only as long as there is a somewhat legit reason for the father not knowing or the heroine is so kickass I can get past it. When Kane popped up on NetGalley the mood was right so I jumped on it. Unfortunately for me it was all over the place and not in good ways. Sigh.

Sky was weak, neurotic, probably the least sharp tool in the shed of all and an emotional basket case. Plus, her reasons for keeping her secret from Kane were complete and utter bullshit. Seriously, I could not stand this chick and felt sorry Kane for being stuck with her and also for cute little Montana because her mother was whacked.

After what Sky had done to Kane, I couldn’t believe what he came up with as a solution. Instead of finding the closest judge, he should have found a good lawyer and gotten custody because, again, this woman was nuts. I guess that wouldn’t have made much of a good romance story, well, unless it included a different heroine. That would have worked.

The author also kept throwing in all these little plot bombs that fell flat for me mainly because we kept getting told things instead of being shown. In fact, this is another story that starts in the middle. This is possibly because this is not the first in a series, but all the history that is shared between the couple is shared through them talking about it, and there is a lot of it. I kept asking myself “Why am I being TOLD this? I want to be shown it as it happens, dammit!” (and yes, I wanted to stomp my foot as I typed that, but that’s tough to do sitting in a recliner).

But the absolute straw that broke the camel’s back was the freaking ending. I cannot begin to describe how bad it sucked. View Spoiler »

So yeah, this didn’t work for me at all.

What a messy book. The pacing, dialogue, characters, and obstacles were all over the place. I stuck with it because I’m a sucker for a secret child trope.

First of all, I just couldn’t connect with the main characters. At all. It was exhausting being inside of their heads. They would say the same things over and over again. Like we get it! This book could have been half the length and lost half of the side characters (who do practically nothing). Not to mention both mains were so bipolar I was getting whiplash.

The writing in general just wasn’t good. It was like the author couldn’t make up her mind on who her characters were as people. For example:
1. Kane was adamant about getting married right after he found out about his daughter. He was pissed that Sky didn’t trust him and thought the worst of him even though he never once expressed his feelings for her. And then he turns around and thinks about how bad it would look with him having a daughter he didn’t know about. A “deadbeat dad” that didn’t fit the AEBR’s family friendly image! What a jerk! I was rooting for Sky to hand him his ass. But she didn’t...
2. Kane is constantly wrestling with himself and where he stands with Sky. In one breath he says that there is no possible way he can forgive her for hiding his daughter from him AND that they are going to get married ASAP because.... reasons.... WTF. So you’re going to marry someone you don’t trust and who ignited your temper in .2 seconds flat? Great idea.
3. Kane throws a hissy fit each time he learns something he doesn’t like. He demands they have no more secrets. Then he continues to keep a secret from Sky. When Sky finds out, he gets defensive but she behaves calmly. Typical asshole male.

The author also paints these really complicated lives for her characters. The both carry their weight in proverbial baggage and it’s almost comical how complicated their backstories are told. Cheating, lying, manipulating, car accidents, separation at birth, alcoholics, emotional abusers, deaths, secret siblings - the list goes on.

Though I really disliked Kane, I can’t say that Sky was much better. She let him steamroll his way back into her life with a few half-hearted “Kane”s said in weak protest all the while she is internally salivating after his body and the sex that she has been missing - at the same time berating herself because she is “so over him”. It really pathetic. And OF COURSE she hasn’t been attracted to anyone since Kane and has been a celibate single mother while Kane has slept his way through bucklebunnies for the last four years - which is Sky’s fault (yea, Kane tells her that... I’m fucking series). It’s almost like the author dislikes Sky as much as I do. The poor thing is dairy free, gluten free, bruises easily, anemic, klutzy, shy, easily embarrassed, hates crowds. This chick is a walking catastrophe!

Side note: Sky is a single mom working multiple jobs to keep up with bills for her one bedroom apartment and yet she wears Lululemon athletic gear and her daughter can tell you her favorite Starbucks drink off the top of her head. Because those things are soooo cheap *eye roll*.

Three and a half stars.

I love this series, each novel is written by a different novelist about a different character from the American Extreme Bull Riding (AEBR) circuit, so when I saw this available for request I jumped on it.

Kane Wilder is riding high on the AEBR circuit when Alicia Flores (love the shout out to The Good Wife) head of PR approaches him, incensed that a local art gallery is having an exhibition and charity auction for a local hospital prominently featuring a bronzed sculpture of Kane himself, a trademarked image.

When Kane turns up at the gallery's showing the following morning he sees the artist is his former lover, and his best friend's little sister, Sky Gordon. Then the icing on the cake, Sky is not only seemingly involved with the preppy gallery owner but has a three year old daughter, Montana, who not only looks exactly like him but also calls him Daddy as soon as she sees him.

Four years ago Sky left Kane, knowing she was pregnant, because she didn't think the dedicated up-and-coming bull rider would welcome a wife and child, even if he would "do the right thing" and Sky loved him too much to hold him back. Only trouble is, Sky figured Kane all wrong and boy is he mad!

This is a classic second chance romance/ secret baby plot. Both Kane and Sky have childhood issues which they allow to colour their perceptions and influence their actions. Both of them hide secrets from each other. And both of them, frankly, need to use their words, there is a bit too much "we need to talk" and "I don't want to talk about it now" and not enough actual speaking to each other.

I liked this but I didn't love it. This was tightly focused on Sky and Kane to the exclusion of much else, Montana seemed to be like a toy child that was front and centre being cute and then conveniently out of sight and mind when they got their thang on. I rather like the AEBR scenes and so I was disappointed that there weren't more. We see several of the previous characters, but since I have the memory of a goldfish I was never truly sure who was who (or what plot was theirs).

Overall, a slightly angsty addition to the series.

SEXY, HEARTWARMING SECOND CHANCE LOVE STORY!!!
Title: Kane
Series: The Wilder Brothers
Author: Sinclair Jayne
Designation: Book 4 of Series, Full-Length, Standalone, No Cliffhanger, Contemporary Western Romance #rodeo #bullrider #secondchance #secretbaby
My Rating: Four Captivating Stars****
**This book was originally published as part of the multi-author American Extreme Bull Riders Tour Collection
I've always been a sucker for contemporary western romance and have never been able to resist a cowboy, so when I saw this book offered on a free promotion in my Bookbub newsletter, I couldn't one-click fast enough. There's just something about the sexy swagger all cowboys seem to have that slays me every single time. Sinclair Jayne was a new-to-me author, but I'm always on the lookout for talented new writers. Best decision ever! This may have been my first time reading the work of Sinclair Jayne, but it certainly won't be my last! As a matter of fact, I enjoyed it so much, I raced back to purchase the other three books in The Wilder Brothers Series.

Kane is a captivating, fast-paced, easy to follow, full-length, standalone, contemporary western, second chance romance brimming with delicious drama, heartbreaking angst, undeniable attraction, steamy passion, and sweet, soul-healing love. Sigh... So dreamy! The narrative was beautifully written in the third person with clearly discernible his and her perspectives. The dialogue was smart, snappy, raw, emotional, natural, and flowed effortlessly. I loved the premise, world, and conflict Jayne created for this story, and I especially enjoyed the enthralling bull riding descriptions along with the fascinating metal-medium sculptural information woven into the story. I felt like I was in the arena actually watching Kane ride. It was so exciting. And Sky's sculptures seemed to come alive in my mind. But as much as I loved the other components of the story, it's the dynamic cast of relatable characters that totally stole the show. I was immediately smitten with handsome, sexy, American Extreme Bull Riders World Champion Kade Wilder, and beautiful aspiring sculptural artist Sky Gordon completely captured my heart. When these two lonely souls reconnected, it was nothing short of explosive, and I loved every single minute of their story. Kade was all alpha male, outgoing, confident, demanding, determined, and soooo swoony, and Sky was such a sweet, kindhearted, yet painfully insecure soul. Both of their backstories just broke my heart. Kade and Sky were total opposites in personality but somehow complemented each other brilliantly. The titillating sexual tension and obvious, undeniable love between these two star-crossed lovers was a beautiful sight to behold. And let's not forget sweet, precocious, 3-year-old Montana Gordon/Wilder. This child was just adorable and the perfect addition to this heartwarming second chance romance. No spoilers from me but I will say this... A handsome world champion bull rider determined to win another gold buckle until he unexpectedly realizes there's an even greater prize up for grabs-check! A beautiful, brokenhearted, and lonely aspiring sculptural artist living with a secret that could destroy her carefully constructed life but is determined to succeed so she can make a life for her daughter-check! An adorable, precocious 3-year-old who changes a man's dream for the future-check! Drama, angst, heartbreak, humor, a wonderful cast of characters, and a second chance love story that will tug at your heartstrings-you bet! That and a whole lot more!

So, did like this book? Yes, very much! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain a little profanity, several steamy, dreamy sex scenes, and an extremely cocky cowboy who doesn't mind taking what he considers to be his, by any means necessary. When Kane Wilder says 'mine', he certainly means it! So sexy! lol... But if I enjoyed this book so much, then why only four stars? Well, two reasons. Overall, the book was well crafted, but there was an unusually high number of typos along with minor little boo-boos that would have been so simple to correct and should have been caught in the final editing/proofreading process. Also, the inner dialogue of the two protagonists seemed somewhat redundant, constantly restating the same thoughts, doubts, and fears, over and over, almost word for word, as if it were being used for filler to lengthen the story. I'm not trying to be critical, just honest. Enough said. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! As I stated earlier, I enjoyed it so much, I raced back to purchase the other three books in the series. And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I snickered, snorted, sniffled, sobbed, and fumed with anger through the entire story but by the end, I was happy, satisfied, well entertained, and grinning like a loon. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

It was obviously a part of a series...two I do believe. But not annoyingly so, it could still stand on its own. This was a second chance, secret baby romance. She was an artist and he was a bull rider in the professional bull riding circuit. I adore my second chance romances. This was just icing on that cake.

I have to admit that secret baby stories aren’t my favorite, but that was actually what I enjoyed most about Kane. I have been working my way slowly through the American Extreme Bull Riders series, and since Sinclair Jayne is a new to me author, I decided to request Kane from the publisher. I usually enjoy second chance at love romances, but this one didn’t convince me that Sky and Kane are made for each other. There were so many hard stops in their relationship, I despaired at them ever working out their differences.

When Sky was 19 and Kane was 22, they spent the summer together, touring the AEBR circuit. Kane was really just starting on his mercurial rise to the top of the standings, and Sky was just happy to be with the man she loved. Only Kane never told her he loved her too, and when he dropped her off at the airport at the end of the summer, he never looked back as she stood watching him walk away. As she prepped for college, he immediately was photographed with beautiful women, breaking Sky’s heart. His texts and calls dropped off to nothing, and by the time she realized she was pregnant, she decided to do the noble thing and not contact Kane. He was obviously over her, and because of her own parents example, she didn’t want him burdened with a child he didn’t want and would come to resent.

Fast forward four years. Kane shows up at the art gallery where Sky’s work is the highlight of a charity auction for a hospital. He is there to confront her about using a trademarked image, and when he sees Sky’s daughter, the spitting image of himself, he loses it. Sky has betrayed him, and he’s not going to let her get away with keeping his child away from him. He hustles Sky and Montana into his truck, and hauls them six hours away to his next competition.

Okay. I wasn’t a big fan of this scenario. Sky has no purse, no money, no phone – in short, no way to take care of her young daughter if something happens to Kane. Which happens. Because of course it does. I just thought that showed a selfish side of Kane, which recurred thorough the story, that was very difficult for me to reconcile. He steamrolls back into Sky’s life, and constantly berates her for keeping his kid from him, even after he agrees that they have to put that behind them if they are going to make any kind of relationship work. At one point, I was so impressed with him because he told himself all of the hurt and betrayal was in the past, but then he still couldn’t let it go.

I was frustrated with both Kane and Sky because their biggest hurdle to happiness was the inability to communicate. It drove me batty. Sky’s normal speaking tone for the first half of the book is a whisper. I got that she was shy and insecure, but don’t let this guy walk all over you! When she finally found the confidence to speak her mind, I was cheering. Yay! Tell that guy what you really feel, or your relationship is NEVER going to last! Kane was the same. Instead of just leveling with Sky, he remained broody and silent.

If you enjoy brooding, possessive heroes, this will tickle your fancy. I was just hoping for a more self-confident heroine, and more communication between the protagonists.

Kane by Sinclair Jayne
American Extreme Bull Riders Tour #6

Beautiful writing made me see Kane, Sky’s sculpture of him, the bulls to be ridden and the one in the sculpture. I knew just what each of the main characters was feeling and thinking although there were times I wanted to smack one or the other and say…”grow up, share, and communicate!”

I am not one to believe in second chance at love romances because my personal experience dating a guy, breaking up and then dating him again later proved to me that I was right to have moved on because what bothered me in the past still bothered me the second time around. That said…this couple were not truly bothered by one another they just made assumptions four years previously that saw them both hurt due to lack of communication. They were young, carrying baggage, had personal plans for the future and loved one another BUT the love they felt was either not strong enough or their communication skills were not mature enough to take the risk required for them to have their HEA immediately. Instead, they had time to mature a bit before their second chance appeared and they were given the chance to try again. So, Kane goes to an art gallery, sees Sky, finds out he has a daughter and they realize they still have feelings for one another BUT have they matured enough to get it right this time?

From the back stories of the two main characters it is clear they both had issues to deal with and in some ways I would have liked to have seen a bit more resolution for both of them with their rather obnoxious parents – not sure they ever will get it – but kind of hope they would before the end of the story. Perhaps there will be a spin-off series for Kane’s half sisters?

We do get to see and hear about the other Wilder brothers and a few of the other men on the AEBR tour and are introduced to a few others that may show up in future books in the series. I looked up the other books about the Wilder brothers and found I had read all but one of them and looking at my reviews of those stories can honestly say I enjoyed them. AND I have read all of the AEBR Tour series to date and love these men and the stories about their lives and loves.

The Wilder Brothers series
Book 1: Seducing the Bachelor – also part of Bachelor Auction Returns #3
Book 2: Want Me, Cowboy - also part of The 78th Copper Mountain Rodeo #3
Book 3: The Christmas Challenge – The Wilder Brothers #3
Book 4: Kane – The Wilder Brothers #4

Kane Wilder is at the top of his bull riding game, and heading into his home town of Phoenix he is look for another win to put him closer to the championship once again. Sky Gordon is so excited about one of her bronze pieces being selected for an auction at a gallery showing that she knows the last four years of hard work may soon be paying off. At least in recognition. Now after his last ride for the day Kane is being yelled at by the P.R. lady of the rodeo tour about why is someone using his likeness on this art brochure? Seeing the picture and saying he will take care of it he leaves. Sky standing in the gallery with the gallery owner she looks up and sees the man she left four years ago walking towards her and damn if he doesn’t look hotter now than he did when she left. She was 19 and he was 22. He walks up and puts a jacket around her and proceeds to kiss her and then explain how the bronze is his. See when she was with him she did some art work for the rodeo and signed a trademark agreement, and you can tell he the bull rider on the statue. The best part comes when this little three year old comes running in and hugs Sky saying mommy, mommy, and then when turning and seeing Kane says look its daddy. He did not know he had a daughter. This is not just a simple story about a boy and a girl. It is more than that and it is more than just winning every weekend. They both now are thinking about what could happen. They each realize the mistakes they made the first time and are working on fixing them now. This is an excellent book to go along with the series. A must read. Kane, Sinclair Jayne

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: General Fiction (Adult), Romance

There's something about these western romance reads, I hate the idea of rodeos and bull riding, the stress on the animals and yet...they make for some great reads ;-)
I loved Sky, and understood exactly why she kept Montana a secret. Given her family history and Kane's career and lack of commitment to her she did what she thought was right for her baby. I felt for Kane though, he feels he's missed so much, and he too has a background that's not the happy family unit everyone sees in public. Its easy to be wise with hindsight, to say he would have been happy, would have been involved but it could have been such a disaster, he could have ended up resenting Sky and Montana if his fledgling career crashed.

Now though he knows, and he's like a bulldozer. I did want to say to Sky at times "stand up for yourself woman" especially when it was a d ick waving contest between him and Jonah. As an artist too I was a bit puzzled how easily her career seemed to go, casting in bronze and metal sculptures in general are very expensive procedures, not one the average single mum can afford easily.
I hadn't read any of the earlier books, didn't realise there were any but I still followed the story easily. I think that if I had read them though it would have enhanced my reading, I'd have enjoyed updates on the earlier characters. It was a fun romance, loved the setting, the characters felt very real, and its a series that would be an enjoyable read. Its not one I'm likely to reread, but I'll look for more from this author.

Stars: four, fun romance.

Sinclair's writing style immediately pulled me in completely. Before I knew it, I had written a quarter of the novel while I was supposed to be sleeping. I just couldn't stop. Didn't want to either. She just made you want more. More of Kane. More of Sky. More of everything.

"Daddy has a picture on him, Mommy," Montana said as Kane went to the bathroom to change into his suit. "I want one too."
Great.

But, especially more of Kane. I don't know how many times I've said this but... Long hair? Tattoos? [I had to laugh out loud when I read that quote I put up here.] Bad ass? Well, count me in, people! Count. Me. In! But where is that long hair on the cover?!
The descriptions used to picture this male specimen? Let's just say that I had a bit of a "Let me get some fresh air"-moment once in a while. Not to mention certain scenes *coughs* with Sky.

"That's because we're Wilders. An acquired taste."
"And, baby..." Kane put his hand on the small of her back "... this time you're eating the whole gourmet meal."

I enjoyed the story. I loved how Sky's secret is incorporated beautifully - honestly, I was scared that it'd be neglected when I first started reading - instead of getting drowned out by the steamy romance. I enjoyed the way Sky and Kane had to find their way back together, trying to fix the things that went wrong in their past.

Yes, it's a quick read. It's a romance. It's a beautiful novel when you want a breather, a quick novel to relax and stop thinking. Just enjoy the story. This novel had exactly what I needed when I started reading.

5 / 5!

Wow - awesome read! Intense alpha cowboy - check. Secret baby - check. Sparks still flying - double check! This is a fantastic series of book written by various authors and this is a great addition. Kane is rugged, sexy, and seriously mad. First he finds out someone is using his likeness is in an art show. Then to discover that it's not just someone but his old flame Sky Gordon is just to much. Meeting Sky's three year old daughter who just so happens to look just like Kane - over the freaking edge!! Don't miss this one! I highly recommend it.

Having read the entire series to date, Kane has truly captured my heart and become my favorite. Ms Jayne has depicted the life, loves, and challenges of the circuit...but Kane was carved from an image that transcends the typical view of a bull rider. Along with the seriousness associated with the sport, the injection of humor was well placed, creating another dimension to the characters and story.

The beauty and imagery of Sky's art was breathtaking...to my mind's eye I saw the pieces of Kane, not only the bull rider, but the one of him walking away just made my heart break. The descriptions, the fluidity of movement was amazing how real the author was able to bring all this alive through her writing. If real, I would have loved to see those pieces.

There's one thing I've truly enjoyed are the children in the series...they steal the scene each and every time...Montana was no exception. She made me smile with her enthusiasm and readily acceptance of her father...the first time Kane held her and called her baby girl brought a smile and sigh...I just knew their father/daughter relationship was going to be priceless.

I wasn't ready for the story to end, the emotional attachment was too hard to let go, but how Ms Jayne complete her story was unique and left me wanting more of Kane and Sky's story...does he or doesn't he???

Kane is an island. At the top of his game, he has no time to be sidetracked, until his past and present collide. Now this island dweller is about to become a family man. Kane is a wonderful example of what draws readers to Sinclair Jayne. Stirring up the pot is a natural born talent of this gifted writer. There is always a twist to keep the story fresh and the characters on their toes. The quintessential page turner, Ms. Jayne never leaves home without her A game.

I love this series. Cowboys and bull riding are a hot combination. Kane and Sky reconnect, but Sky has kept a huge secret from Kane. Will he be able to forgive her and move past the hurt?

Loving this series! Each book focuses on a different bull rider. This time we meet Kane, who is at the top of his career. When the he collides with the only woman he ever loved, but let go so she could continue her education he is more than shocked to find out he is a dad. With all the past hurts and strong emotions we see if they can find a new path forward.

I’m not a big fan of second chance romances. Secret baby stories are a hit or miss for me. I don’t like it when one of the main characters is a bed hopper. Yes, this book was all three but the description made me want to give it a try. Unfortunately, I really didn’t like either of the main characters nor their situations. DNF.

I tired of books with so little dialogue

Page after page after page describing a SCULPTURE. One line of dialogue every 2 or 3 pages. Nope, not gonna do it. The female lead was a simmering twit that seemed surprised here 3 year old daughters father was angry he didn't know he had a daughter. 45 pages in I had to quit, lives too short.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I love second chance romances and this was a great read! At first I wasn't sure if I even liked Kane and Sky kind of passive so I wan't sure about her, either. As the story progressed, I could feel Kane's pain and I still was upset with Sky for her part in keeping her pregnancy a secret.

As the story unfolds, you learn more about each of their feelings and secrets and you can understand how they reacted or kept secrets from the other. Kane always thought that Sky had a wonderful family life and didn't know it was all a show for others while in secret, Sky was either ignored or treated terribly.

I started to like Sky more as I understood her background and her feelings, as she opened up to Kane, I started to get annoyed with Kane as he couldn't do the same for Sky! They both had secrets and it was very revealing to see them exposed and then understand how they shaped their relationship, but I still wanted to smack Kane for not being able to tell Sky "I love you" for most of the book!

I also loved the moment when Kane asked Sky why his daughter, Montana had her middle name of Kate! That was very clever to think up such a fitting middle name for a bull rider dad. Sky seemed to really have grown since her previous time with Kane and I liked that she was able to stand up and not just accept whatever Kane wanted. I liked that she didn't care about his money and had a career of her own, and would love to see her bronze sculptures, they seemed so "real"!

I have not read the other books about Kane's brothers and their women but I loved that they were part of the story and enjoyed that Kane had such caring family. It is not necessary to have read the previous books, as this is a stand alone story but just the small parts about these guys made me curious about them and want to read their stories.

I saw that there are other books in this series along with Kane about the other guys mentioned that were his competition, and they sound interesting, also.

This is the 6th book in the American Extreme Bull Riders Tour (AEBR), and 4th in The Wilder Brothers series.
Kane is a pro bull rider, one of the best and he is called in to explain a sculpture of a picture him, shirtless and tattooed being promoted at an art auction. This doesn’t fit in with the AEBR’s image of clean-cut cowboys and Kane heads to fix the problem.
Sky is Kane’s ex. She is the artist who used his image, one she had sold the rights for to AEBR. Sky has a secret.
Kane swaggers into the auction and shocked Sky to her core. Although Kane is in for a hock of his own when his 3-year-old daughter, one he didn’t know about, ran across the floor into her mother’s arms, then launched herself into his upon recognising him.
What follows is a whirlwind of decision making, explanations, secrets, fears and marriage all in two days.
The secret baby was predictable, a trope used often in romance to explain a sudden end of relationship or loss of contact. It is handled well by the author, even if Kane’s reaction to discovering the former love of his life had kept a child from him is a little unrealistic. Sky’s surprise at his initial anger also seems unrealistic.
Kane bulldozes Sky and their daughter into his world, taking the sculpture with him.
There are some aspects of slut shaming within the book which I didn’t like. When Kane first takes Sky back to the AEBR tour she seems very judgemental of cowboys and resentful of Kane providing clothes for them.
The main problem I have with this is that most, if not all of Sky and Kane’s issues could have easily been solved or prevented with one open conversation.
They both have issues from their past, but they were friends before they were lovers and one would assume they would have gotten to know each other enough in that time to talk about their mutual father issues.
This could have used more dialogue, especially between the protagonists.
This is a fun book to read, there is good insight into the world of pro bull riding, a vivacious child and emotional revelations.

The worst part about assumptions is that they are most often totally wrong. That’s something that Sky learned the hard way once Kane re-entered her life and discovered exactly what (or who) she’d kept hidden from him for far, far too long.

Kane is an emotional, second chance romance that it high on the emotions, the reasons of the couple, and a bit lower on the bull riders tour. I might have wished for more of the rodeo, but we did meet up with several former characters so that fix of mine was slightly satisfied. Sky and Kane had issues in their pasts that partially lead to the decisions they made. This couple truly needed better communication skills in the past and in the present. Their assumptions cost them dearly, and although it makes for a good story line, without talking to each other it’s no wonder they ended up as they did. There were many times I really wanted to reach into the pages and get them to sit down and talk, be straight in their answers, stop holding back and just talk to each other.

In all, Kane was an enjoyable story, one that I had fun with in spite of my constant need for them to talk it out honestly. You don’t have to have read the other stories in this series – but you’re missing some amazing stories if you make that choice. I’d recommend this story and the entire series to any Romance reader who enjoys realistic situations, likable couples and well, a love of the rodeo doesn’t hurt. *grin*

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Blaming, lying and hiding. They age gap is 4 years, and Kane was best friends with Sky”s older brother. She fell for him when she was 14 but he didn’t sees her as anything but a pesky girl hanging around her brother, at 16 she lost her best friend and brother in a bull riding accident. At 19 she was Kane’s summer fling before she went back to college. That summer was memorial for them both and for later on but at the time he kept Sky hidden away in his camping trailer far away from the events ( sponsee parties, meet & greets and the arenas) she professed her love but he never said anything back, their last moment together at the airport before she had to leave, all he could say was ‘see ya’ and later then night he was pictured at a bar with 2 blondes doing body shots. Insercure 19 losses her lover, trusts, and her heart but gains a piece of Kane that will be a spitting image of him. Sky will talk about her unloving childhood, her parents hate towards her and how she was keeping her daughter secretly away from Kane to protect her heart but to let him live his life, she said that. A. Lot. Now Kane is in the same boat as childhood come into question, but he will kept things from Sky again after claiming ‘no more secrets between them’ well he keeps information locked away, and still won’t talk about is real feelings after they get reunited and he sees a mirror image of him, now it’s ‘ You stood my child, our child... you kept her away from me... you never told me... and so on and so on. I can say it has many great points but the blaming and the untrustworthy of his actions it’s ws way too much drama that I pushed myself to read the rest.

Kane Wilder is a rising rodeo star. He had a brief relationship with his best friend's sister four years ago, but she was 19 and he was 22. After the wonderful summer they spent together, he insisted that she go back to college, not wanting to hold her back from her dreams.

Sky (I don't think we ever learned her last name) had been in love with Kane since she was 11 and he was 14. She suspected she was pregnant when they parted after three wonderful months when she was 19, but he'd never said he loved her and, when he dropped her off at the airport to go back to college, he never looked back. So, Sky assumed that keeping their daughter a secret from him would be a good idea; after all, he needed to move on and become the big rodeo star he was destined to be.

When a sculpture Sky is actioning off for charity - that looks exactly like Kane - comes to the attention of Kane's management, he drives to Phoenix to confront Sky. When he finds out they have a child together, he kidnaps them both (sorry, that's the only word I have for it) and demands that Sky marry him.

Both characters were TSTL, sacrificing their happiness because of what they assumed the other wanted and now angry at each other because of their own stupid choices. Although we ultimately get a HEA, it took too much work to get there.

Montana Steals The Show

This is a sweet, second chance romance with a secret pregnancy. Kane, an extreme bulk rider and Sky, a metal sculpture artist, had a misunderstanding four years ago.

A metal sculpture of a bull rider, which is a copyrighted image of Kane, brings them together again. Kane goes to the art show to retrieve the sculpture. However that's not all he retrieves. Montana, a three year old who looks exactly like him recognized him as her father. He leaves with the sculpture, Sky and Montana. That was a bit much to brlieve, but the resulting love story was pretty interesting.

They both realize that a misunderstanding caused Kane to miss the first three years of Montana 's life. He's determined not to miss anything else. They both began to communicate with Sky being more open. Finally, Kane opens up. Montana is the best character in the book and is reason enough to read the book. Through the journey to understanding, they both learn truths about each other. Nothing is as they thought about each other lives.

Little about the extreme bull riders your is learned. If you like second chance romances with a bit of steamy sex, this book is for you.

I am always looking for books from Sinclair. She is one of my favorite authors. She really gets to you. This is another one. Kane's a bull rider. He went on a tour and took Sky with him for a summer. She has loved him forever. Her brother rode bulls too but he was slammed without a helmet and died. After summer he sends Sky home to go to school. Major Spoiler! Jump ahead 4 years to an Art Showing. Sky is a metal sculptor and she is to sell one. Kane busts into the show as it is to be for Kane 's Company. He is mad but, wait as a babysitter comes in with a 3 year old girl, Montana. He is her father and never knew it. He is boiling so he takes them with him. Kane still loves Sky but he can't forgive her. There are more turns in this book. I hope you will give this story a chance. Check it out and go sit to read it. You will smile, cry, be mad and more but you will still read this book! Enjoy your reading! I volunteered to read and review this book.
