Weaver's Circle #2

Redeeming Johnny

Rate this book
Love can’t flourish in the dark.

Fifteen years ago, Elaine fell in love with Johnny McMannus, the local bad boy. He was nineteen and she was jailbait. To keep them both out of trouble, Johnny left town.

But years later his father’s heart attack brings him back to run the family garage. Hoping to reconnect with Elaine, Johnny has to first fix the mess his parent’s alcoholism has made of things. Before Johnny can deserve Elaine, he has to salvage his family’s reputation, save their home, and rescue the business.

Too bad Elaine doesn’t want to be deserved. She wants to be loved. She never got over Johnny and she’s done sneaking around with him as they had before. If he can’t love her in public, to her way of thinking he doesn’t love her enough.

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book for an honest review. Elaine is a school teacher who has guarded her heart since the love of her life left town fourteen years before because she was only seventeen years old. Johnny returns to his hometown after his father has a heart attack. He left home fourteen years before because he did not want to ruin the reputation of the girl he loved and had been secretly seeing. This is a story about sacrifice, heartbreak and healing. This is a very enjoyable book and great when you want to quick read.

Redeeming Johnny is now my favorite book by Christa Maurice. I love second chance romance stories and this one didn't disappoint. Johnny and Elaine fell in love fifteen years ago. He leaves thinking it is the right thing to do for Elaine to have a better life. Fourteen years later, Johnny returns to help out at his dad's garage. Has Elaine gotten over her heartbreak or will they reunite? No spoilers so one-click and read the newest weaver's Circle romance.

This was the first Christa Maurice book that I have read. I got caught up from the beginning and I thought the characters Elaine and Johnny were very well done. And, who doesn't love a second chance romance especially when the couple is so young the first time around? I definitely will read more of this authors' books.

Second chance love story about Johnny and Elaine. Characters are likeable. Short story which is a quick read. This is a series and although it's possible to read as a stand alone, reading in order would help understand the story better. I received an ARC from the author for an honest review

My first read from author Christa Maurice, Redeeming Johnny needa a follow up book, the story isn’t complete, but if the rest of the authors books are as good & well-written as this one I predicate some bestsellers!

Disclaimer. I received an ARC of this book by author.

Review: While I typically like/enjoy books by Ms. Maurice, this just wasn't one of them. It felt off. Part of it was editing. Particularly in Chapter 3. But, more than that, the whole story just, I just didn't feel it. Like another reviewer, the ending felt rushed.
