Le pique-nique parfait

Aujourd'hui, Taupe et Écureuil vont faire un pique-nique. Écureuil est décidé à ce qu'il soit le plus parfait possible.
Les voici donc partis en quête de l'endroit idéal pour s'installer. Mais la prairie est trop ensoleillée, la plage trop sableuse et la rivière vraiment trop humide…
L'histoire désopilante d'amis bien différents et de sandwichs bien mal en point !

Tämä oli kyllä aikas ihana tarina! <3 Perfektionisti orava ja ei-niin-perfektionisti myyrä ovat parhaat kaverukset, ja eräänä päivänä he päättävät lähteä eväsretkelle. Mutta, kuinka ollakaan, huolellisesti mietityt ja valmistetut eväät tipahtavat repun reiästä matkan varrelle.... (Täytyy myöntää, että sisäinen perfektionistioravani oli tässä kohtaa kovin tuskissaan!) Onneksi muut eläimet olivat huomanneet tilanteen ja tulivat palauttamaan (vähän reissussa rähjääntyneet) asiat ja sitten pidettiin tietysti pileet. Kuvatkin olivat oikein ilmeikkäät ja hauskat! Kiva kirja. :)

Edit: Oli pakko antaa sittenkin viisi tähteä, koska ääneen luettuna tämä oli aivan täydellinen! <3

Tämän vuoden ilahduttavimpia lastenkirjalöytöjä ovat olleet Ciara Floodin teokset. Karhun uudet naapurit kanin kutaleineen oli aivan huippu, ja tämä Täydellinen eväsretki osoittautui jotakuinkin yhtä hyväksi. Jälleen ihastuttava ja ilmeikäs kuvitus, hauska tarina ja kertakaikkisen mainiot hahmot. Ah! <3

Ihan loistava kirja kaikille meille perfektionistioraville (minä niiiin tunnistin itseni) - ja kyllä tästä lapsetkin varmasti tykkäävät.

I love how all the animals pick up the pieces of squirrel and mole's picnic, bring it to them, and help them set it aright. I enjoyed the ending where everybody got to partake.

The Perfect Picnic is about two best friends who love to do things together: dance, bake cakes, go on bike rides and paint pictures. So why not plan a perfect picnic together? Perfect for the squirrel is to leave butter off the sandwiches. Mole, the other friend, loves butter on his sandwich, but he is fine with letting squirrel make the sandwiches his way. And so they set out to find a perfect place for the perfect picnic. “This is a very pretty meadow,” said Mole. “Yes, but it’s not perfect,” said Squirrel. “We need more shade.” They continue to search and search. But when squirrel finally finds what is perfect for him, Mole discovers they may have a problem to deal with. A big problem.

Cons:
Although the title fits perfectly it wasn’t one that prompted me to pick the book up and read it.

Pros:
Very colorful and fun illustrations that complement the text. A great story about friendship, forgiveness, and bless their hearts, perfectionists. This is a book that children and adults will be happy to read over and over. Many will enjoy the map at the front and back of the book showing Squirrel and Mole's journey to find a perfect spot for their picnic.

Terrific picture book with so many applications in the classroom as well as simply a fun story to be read by or to PK-grade 3 students. Mole and Rabbit are packing up for the perfect picnic, but as they begin to search for the just right spot to stop and have their lunch, not only is the backpack dropping out all their supplies, but finding a place to eat is proving to be difficult. The trek brings other forest animals onto their path and in the end, all of them discover that together is the best place to have a picnic. Plenty of opportunities for connections to be made between Rabbit and Mole’s experiences and those of readers/listeners, new learning and vocabulary development around forest animals’ homes and food choices, plus predictions and “what would you do” questioning. I heard this book being used during a summer reading program followed by a book tasting complete with “picnic” looking table cover and snacks!

Koin lievää sielunsisaruutta kirjan perfektionisti-Oravan kanssa. Välillä täydelliseen hetkeen ja täydellisyyteen pyrkiessä unohtaa kokonaan nauttia tästä hetkestä. Siihen tahtoisin pyrkiä, ottamaan hetkestä kiinni ja vain nauttimaan tästä - ja koin, että tästä kirja myös yritti muistutella. My 2 yo absolutely loves this one! One of our regular bedtime stories lately. Engaging and funny story, has lots of animal characters that he loves, and there's more to the story that kids can learn from as they grow older (at least from what I can imagine) -- about perfectionism and how to be inclusive with friends. Am looking for other books with this kind of "formula" nowadays!

Flood is master at cooking up deliciously cute animal peopled illustrations. The Perfect Picnic is loaded with scrumminess: colour, detail, lovable characters (Squirrel reminds me of Hammy from Over the Hedge for some reason!) and comical situations. A delightful romp around the countryside in search of the perfect picnic spot set Squirrel and her best mate, Mole on a journey of perseverance, patience and friendship. Little readers will be packing their picnic baskets after reading this one.

Een mol en een eekhoorn gaan gezellig picknicken, maar gaat alles wel goed?

Het boek was echt enorm leuk en schattig, ook al vond ik de mol wel een beetje irritant met dat ie blijkbaar geen eigen mening had en maar telkens dezelfde zin zat te zeggen. En dan valt het hem ook niet op dat hij vastblijft hangen en dan dat zoiets gebeurd. Sorry, maar ik kan vanuit ervaring zeggen dat als je blijft hangen achter zoiets, dat je dat gewoon doorhebt.

Het einde en alles wat daar gebeurde was echt hartstikke leuk, en ook heel lief. Ik was blij voor iedereen, dit is een veel betere uitkomst dan wat ik eerst had gedacht toen ik aan het lezen was.

De tekenstijl is hartstikke leuk en past perfect bij het boek. Lekker kleurijk, mooie details, karakters zijn leuk getekend.

Zeker een aanrader dit boek. Vooral op een lente- of zomerdag, voor of tijdens een picknick. Heerlijk!

This author's debut children's book Those Pesky Rabbits is excellent. I bought it for my nieces and nephew (age range 2-8 years old) and they loved it. Just like the first book, The Perfect Picnic has lovely illustrations that complement and enhance the story.

This book is about a mole and a squirrel who are best friends and decide to go on a picnic together. Things don't go as planned but all is well in the end. A sweet and fun story that I'm sure children will love.
