All her life, Rachel Kent has dreamed of becoming one of the immortal Magekind witches who protect humanity from itself. But first she must prove herself to the handsome vampire whose job is to decide whether she'll become a danger to those she's supposed to save.
Nathaniel Allard is a Court Seducer who has been sent to trigger Rachel's witchy transformation by making love to her three times. The problem is, gaining such incredible powers may drive Rachel insane, forcing Nathaniel to kill her. Otherwise she may kill him - and anyone else who gets in her way.
Nate tells Rachel he'll only agree to complete her transformation if she proves she can be trusted with the powers she'll gain. But as he tests her - and makes love to her with every test she passes -- mutual lust turns to love.
Twist on King Arthur is a tale which intrigues me. I have read most of the stories in this series so I am predisposed to like this book. I really liked it. This short little novella brings us back to the Mageverse where the Magekind live. In this world, women are witches and men are vampires. The symbiotic relationship between the two is key to their survival. Becoming one or the other is not easy. Many candidates are passed over because the conversion to be a witch or a vampire can be too much and end up in catastrophic events. Whilst one can easily read this as a standalone, it is more enjoyable to read the earlier books and learn about their history.
In this tale, the main characters are Rachel and Nathaniel. Their conflict is one that plays over and over again through the centuries. One of Nathaniel's job is court seducer. If anything goes wrong, one of his second jobs is executioner. It must be hard on a loving and caring person who shares intimacy with one breathe and then cold killing in another. This is a hard job, especially if the latest candidate is as sexy as Rachel.
The pace of this book moves fast with a few reductions in speeds for some smexy time. Ms. Knight burns up the sheets or the pages of the book when Nathaniel and Rachel get busy. Ms. Knight's brand of erotica is easy to visualize and so sexy. Her characters are designed to have chemistry, even when they are being contrary. From my perspective, Ms. Knight is one of the pioneers in the bodice rippers which have matured into today's paranormal erotica. She is one of my go to authors when I need a paranormal erotica fix with vampires, witches and shifters - oh my. This latest book is a lovely addition to this universe. I look forward to the next one in this series. Recommended to paranormal romance readers who enjoy a bit of heat between their characters.
The writing was pretty good, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the dynamic between the hero and heroine. Also it was short, less than an hour read for me.
**potential spoilers** The hero was basically a vampire gigolo who sleeps with women in order for them to gain power. He was a jerk to the heroine from the start, lording his power over her, and all she could do was drool over his bod. Sure he changes his tune pretty quick, but even then she’s the one to make herself vulnerable to him first. Overall it was an okay read for me.
When Rachel is chosen to become a witch, she is very sure that is exactly what she wants. Then she meets Nathan, a court seduced. Now she wonders of becoming a witch will endanger him. They must trust in each other in order to find out. This is a good addition to Knight's series.
I have been a long time fan of this author. I hadn't read anything by her in a couple of years. Wouldn't you know after the first book I read in this series, I was seduced again! I loved the Mageverse series. Now, I am being reeled in by this newer version of the Magekind inhabitants. A good read. Enough action packed into this short read.
I read this series in paperback many years back. I just want to say that being able to read it again was great! This is fantastic steamy magical romance. I love a good steamy read and this one is short but great!!! I Loved it!!! No Spoilers! I highly recommend!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I always get sucked right into Angela Knights Vampire series. The characters are so vibrant and engaging. Her humor is perfectly hilarious in any situation and the sex is always hot and steamy.
I love the Mageverse and all the zany characters there. This was an excellent story and I'm just sad it's over. Can't wait to find another one to read.
Master of Seduction was such an enjoyable read for a short novel. It was great having Mrs. Knight bring us back to the Mageverse universe. I am eagerly awaiting for the next installment...
Very happy for Ms. Knight to return to what we all loved... The Magererse Universe. I am rating this 4 stars because it was very similar to "Seductions Gift". Sheriff Rachel Lent hads always wanted to be a Magekind witch She is the first member of her family in generations to be offered the gift. Nathaniel is the court seducer who has been sent to trigger her transormatio n. Nathaniel has been doing this for years but recently had to excite a witch who went insane with the gift. He is tired of having to kill those who can't handle the change. He is afraid he might have to kill her...long story short he transforms her & they fall in love. My dislike is the story just abruptly ended. Boom - the end.
Following Angelas megaverse for years has never failed me. This master of seduction not only wetted my appetite for seduction in its fulfilling capacity but also an expectance not to be missed. Megaverse at its sexibest😍
