In 1973, she met Roy, a wealthy movie theater owner who hired her to refurbish his houses. This partnership led to their marriage. Soon the boss of a major porno mafia admired her work, and then his wife hired Carla to redecorate their Hollywood mansion. There, she befriended other lonely wives. When Roy joined that mob, he became deeper involved in pornography as well as murder. He dragged Carla into that criminal element with himself when greed raised its ugly head. But after she witnessed an assassination, Carla could no longer question the power of a mob boss's wife. Now, Roy's infidelity could cause Carla to stray. Or would his uproars drive her to a mental breakdown first? Or did Roy just dig her grave?

For fiction, this story seemed real. Coming from a dysfunctional blue-collar background, Carla strove to perfect her love of interior decoration and step into a "better" life for herself. And she did. However, her downfall was to marry the wrong man; a wealthy man who bought his way into fame, fortune, and hell dragging her into that pit with himself. She met other women who shared the same loneliness of marriage to mafia men. I felt every bit of the mental breakdown from which she suffered. This dynamic story was fast-paced and hard to set down.
