Photographs from the archives of Getty Images, London, by a wide variety of photographers, including Robert Whitaker
The Beatles: 365 Days is a dazzling photographic survey-in 425 black-and-white and color images, most of which are rarely or never before seen-that follows the Beatles through the arc of their spectacular career from 1963 to 1970. Arranged chronologically, the photos trace the story of the band, from their emergence on the scene in England, through their rise to international superstardom, to their very public breakup in 1970. Every aspect of their evolution from mop-tops to legends is depicted, including their personal lives, performances, press conferences, recording sessions, public appearances, photo sessions, filmmaking, and more. The captions by Simon Wells are rich in detail and provide both band history and cultural context for the photographs, as well as quotes from members of the band and those associated with them that have never been published.
The insatiable hunger for new books about the Beatles has never waned, and this arresting volume-with its wealth of never- and seldom-seen pictures that have long been embargoed at the Getty Images archive-will have a special appeal for all Beatles fans.
If you're a big Beatles fan, this book probably won't tell you much you didn't already know. But I'm guessing even a big fan will enjoy seeing many of these rarely (if ever) seen photos. If you're not obsessed with, but are a fan of The Beatles, you'll likely really enjoy and appreciate the pics and the information that goes along with them. The photos are NOT from a single year, but from the early days of their stardom all the way through the end. As it is set up chronologically, it is very interesting to watch the Fab Four's fashions change. So, if you have any interest in The Beatles, you'll likely find this book well worth your time.
Exciting pictures, candid and other wise. The accompanying captions tell The Beatles basic story from hard working, exciting beginnings to a bittersweet demise. Terrrific book!
The subtitle of which being, "But not, like, in a row."
365 photos ranging from the Beatles' early days playing in Hamburg clubs through the craziness of Beatlemania and onto the last bitter days on the rooftop of Apple then tapering off to a few taken in the 80's, including one of the last photographs of John Lennon.
The pictures are good but the accompanying text is even better. Unless you are a Beatles diehard, you'll learn something. It's obviously not a book to read straight through, but it's great fun to flip through.
My cousins gave me this book for Christmas. It's a perfect one to dip in and out of. Great photos of the Fab Four, even some I haven't seen. Photos that mostly weren't publshed when the group hit 1963-1965. Or as George wrote: "when we were fab." It has inspired me to do an altered Beatle book.
A collection of rare photographs of the Beatles during their hey days that can be opened and closed at your leisure. A delight to own and would be perfect coffee table material, if I had a coffee table!!
Not much to say. Great little book with some pictures I hadn't seen before. I didn't learn to much I didn't previously know, but I liked some of the interviews peppered in. A good coffee table book for any fan.
This is just a perpetual calendar with facts about the Beatles for each day. Some facts pertain to that particular day, others are just random. It sits under my coffee table.
