I really enjoyed this short, sweet love story. If you read Dear Killian (book 1), you know that the heroine in that story assigned her students a soldier to write to. For Tomas, Gage was just what he needed-exactly when he needed it. His blatant attempts to play matchmaker got his mom and Gage talking.

-no cheating
-no ow/om drama - her jerk of an ex shows up but didn't cause the couple problems
-not very steamy - being that a large part of the book they are in different locations.
-insta love -Gage knew right away he was making this little family his.
-short epilogues that were cute but not very far out. ( 2 months, then 6 months)

Sweet, sweet story. I just love romances that start with letters. Gage was amazing. And poor little Tommy. It was sweet seeing him try to set his mom and Gage up. I can't wait for the next one.

Tommy Anderson has a assignment to write a letter to a soldier. His letter finds its way to Gage Drapper. They end up having such a great relationship that Tommy thinks Gage could not only be great in his life but his Mom, Paisley, as well. As he plays matchmaker to the two adults, they begin to write each other directly and feelings do begin. The thing is Tommy and his mom have some issues they have to deal with and both wonder if Gage can be the one to fix what's broken for them both.

Ok I loved her book Dear Killian so snatched this up. The problem is this one fell short for me. The problem IMO is that it was too short to tell a full story. While I enjoyed some of Tommy's POV and letters, the story was more centered around Tommy and that left little time to see the adults letters as well as see them really get to know each other and fall in love. So the romance took a backseat to a little boy and his view and needs. It is was that kind of story this would have been great but since this was supposed to be a romance the romance never came up to par and I saw the couple get together without really knowing them unfortunately. If it was longer and gave time to the couple so that you got to know them and see them fall I think this would have been such a fantastic read and so for me this left a lot to be desired. So for me this was more 2.5 to me because it wasn't given enough of the love story for me.

1.5 stars.

Sweet and safe, but too much telling, not enough showing. The instant connection between the MCs was underdeveloped and child who’s the third voice in this short sounded like an adult. It was weird. The grammatical errors were still pretty bad too. I think that’s it for me from this author. :(

Dear Gage de KL Donn Serie Love Letters libro 2

Argumento:

¿Una pareja hecha… por un niño de 8 años?

Estimada Paisley,

No buscaba el amor.
Estaba bien con la vida que tenía.
Luego me escribiste y se abrió un mundo completamente nuevo.

Estimado Gage,

He estado sola tanto tiempo.
Perdida, asustada, criando a un hijo que necesitaba un hombre de verdad.
Entonces llegaste tú.
Abriendo nuestros corazones a tu lealtad.

Oh my god this is the most adorable book I’ve ever read.

After being assigned by his teacher a soldier to write a letter to, 8 year old Tommy finds a friend in Lieutenant Gage Draper. He’s everything young tommy needs at that moment and he bonds with him instantly through their letters.

Reading the letters between these two was so freaking adorable. Little Tommy is so desperate to see his mum happy he goes ahead and starts trying to set them up, this kid is an absolute genius but inside his heart is hurting for what he wishes he could have. You can’t help but feel sad for the poor boy.

Although this book is short is sure packs a punch, you get everything you never knew you needed and then some. It’s the perfect little read.

Dear Lord,

I am thankful for these military romance books.
This is a really short novella and sweet love story made by an 8-year old kid. This is much much better than that cough-DearAaron-cough book. Told only in a few pages!!

I love books with pen pals but I didn't like this one as much as the first. It didn't flow for me at all. It also seemed way too rushed even for a short story.

I do have a soft spot to love letters story. This 2nd book of the series was just icing on the cake! I loved every single turn of how the trio (mom, son, and soon-to-be-dad) got to know each other, in a personal level. And yes, through letters. How words can convey thousands and millions sentimental feelings.

The plot was heavy on the feelings. I liked how one by one, the story pieces fell into places and created a great loving endings. It perfectly describe the struggle of single mom, kids who dealt with mixed feelings, and a soldier who're far away from home. Sweet instant family story!!

Great short. I often screenshot pages that reflect personal references to, in or about my life. This one gave me a few tears as I gathered that material for some future...?...emotional justification? Well, really nothing to do with the story quality which is very good but if you are a single parent who has perhaps experienced the other parent showing little or no interest in their child's life, this will grab at your heart a bit.
The amount of the child's presence throughout really made the storyline.

Cheers

Dear Gage: A Short Story (Love Letters) by K.L. Donn was a quick and heartfelt read. Tommy stole my heart, Paisley broke my heart, and Gage captured my heart. I won't reveal a ton of details, but anyone who reads this book will fall in love (and get a little bit angry).

Dear Gage

Ugh this one always hits me right in the feels and had me in tears more than once...and that's tough to do. It has so much story and so many emotions in just a few short pages. KL Donn is an amazing story teller. I'm not sure if Gage or Tommy is my favorite hero...after all if it wasn't for Tommy's class assignment him and his mom would never have met Gage! A very Happily Ever After ❤

Completely safe and free of abuse and cheating, no others after meeting, a touch of drama with Tommy's dad regarding Tommy only, celibate hero and heroine.

5 soldier stars! An insta-love story.

Life is never easy for women. Some say that we are the fragile sex but we are fighters. We fight hard for our beloved ones. No matter what we stay stronger. However, at some point, we need someone who support us, care about us and fight by our side.

This time K.L. Donn delivered a short insta-love story where the heroine is the kind of woman who needs someone who protect her because she is really hurt and she doesn’t trust easily. Life has showed her the worst. Paisley has to be strong because of her son. They are a broken family. Something or someone is missing in their life.

“Sadly, as I’ve learned, words are simply that. Words. You can’t trust what you can’t see.”

A school project will change their life. Shared letters with a soldier will bring Tommy the hope to see his mother smile again. He is the sweetest kid any mother would want. Like any child he needs a real man in his life. A man who keeps his promises. Paisley is really lucky to have him.

“A deep breath releases from me, and I know things will be okay. Mom will be happy, I’ll have a dad, and Gage will have a home. We’ll be a family.”

Fortunately, Tommy hasn’t lost hope and he will play like a Celestina between Cage (his soldier friend) and his mother. (This is my favourite part of the book).

Cage is serving his country far away from home. A letter form a boy will seal his future and his desires. His priorities will change radically. He will want more because being away from home is hard and it could be harder when your priorities change for better.

“I don’t know when I decided I wanted this little, broken family to be mine, but it’s done. They’re mine.”

This book is the sweetest I have read in a long time. I really enjoy every page. My favorite character is Tommy. He steal my heart. The characters are strong and well developed. The story is told smoothly by Paisley, Tommy and Cage. Be prepared to read a insta-love story full of hope and a possessive soldier who is ready to fight for a broken family.

When 8 year old Tommy was given a class assignment to be a pen pal with an active duty soldier stationed overseas, no one could have predicted that his young life would be so profoundly impacted.

Tommy is a sweet kid, but going through a very tough time. While his Mom is awesome, his father left them before he was born and only shows up when he feels like it . . . which isn’t often. Tommy struggles with anger at school, especially when teased about his lack of a father at home.

Paisley is a hard working single mom, who loves her so more than anything in the world. While she would give him the world if she could, she can’t give Tommy a father who cares, and it breaks her heart. When Tommy’s attitude and behavior seem to improve after he starts corresponding with his soldier pen pal, Gage, Paisley is cautiously optimistic that Tommy may have a positive role model in his life.

When Gage receives Tommy’s letter, he is immediately taken with the young boy. He quickly realizes that Tommy is lacking a father figure . . .and that Tommy is trying to set Gage up with his mother through his letters. Gage quickly and unexpectedly loses his heart to Tommy and Paisley without ever laying eyes on them. Now, he just has to convince Paisley that he is in it for real and that they can be a family when his tour of duty is done.

Dear Gage is a very quick and enjoyable read. It is a feel-good story that leaves the reader with a smile on their face. KL Donn did a fabulous job giving Gage, Paisley and Tommy character depth right away so that readers could feel invested in their story right from the beginning. While it is a short story, the plot feels full and not rushed. It’s a complete and well written story that I easily fell in love with.

5 stars.

Love Letters Series - Book 2 Dear Gage - KL Donn

This is one of my favourite stories written by this amazingly talented author. Along with this series idea of writing letters this story involves a letter written by a little boy after his teacher asks her students to write to the soldiers who need a morale boost. Tommy Anderson is 8 years old and will without a doubt melt your heart. His letters to Lieutenant Gage Drapper are adorable and when Gage replies his are just as endearing. Tommy is lost, his biological father Jack is not in his life much and he is longing for someone to love him, want him it's heartbreaking reading the little boy struggling with his emotions. Gage at 35 thought he would be a lifer in the service never giving life outside of it a second thought but once he starts writing back and forth with Tommy and then his mum Paisley aswell everything for him changes and he realises what he has been missing out on and what he could have. Paisley is a warrior, bringing up her son alone, dealing with her ex she is doing the best she can but never expected Gage or their incredible connection. This story may be short but definitely packs a punch and have you hooked from the very beginning. The characters are written so well and the connections and feelings are so strong and written with such realness you can't help but become lost in the world KL Donn has created. Also the extended epilogues just give you that cherry on the cake along with all the feels. I thoroughly enjoyed every word of it. I highly recommend this amazing story and series as a whole. Happy Reading.

This story is super sweet! I devoured this book in one sitting and was happy with the ending. I liked Paisley, Gage and Tommy. I liked that Tommy was a little matchmaker and that his point of view was put across in this story. Tommy is such a sweetie! I wanted him to get the family he wanted. I liked Paisley but I wanted more of her. I disliked Paisleys ex and wanted him to leave Paisley and Tommy alone. I liked that Gage wasn’t mean to Tommy. He didn’t brush him off or ignore him when he realised Tommy was trying to set him up with his mother. He kept his promise to Tommy. This book was a heart-warming read and I adored the ending and the epilogue. I cannot wait for this next book in this series.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a nice read.

When eight-year-old tommy gets set a school assignment to write to a soldier, he writes to Gage. Fed up with his father letting him down and being a absent father, Tommy comes up with a plan. A plan to set his new soldier friend Gage up with his mother. Gage is a soldier on active duty; he has six months left over seas/military. When a little boy starts writing to him his heart melts. When his new pen pal Tommy keeps dropping hints about his mother, Gage decides to write to her. When Paisley receives a letter off of Gage, informing her of Tommy’s intentions, her heartbreaks for her little boy. Paisley soon starts writing to Gage and they quickly form a bond. After receiving letters off of both Tommy and Paisley, Gage is determined to make them his. But will Gage keep his promise to Paisley and Tommy?

I am always super excited when KL releases a new book, she is a must read author for me.
These short stories she is releasing in the Love Letters series have all the feels packed into a great quick read. The books unfold as letters being sent to a service man serving overseas and the love that unfolds. This story is about a little boy, Tommy, who sends a letter to Gage and as the continue to write he decides to set his mom up with Gage for when he comes home. Gage and Paisley write letters to each other also, but Paisley has trust issues from a past relationship. She just ask that Gage not break their hearts. This book had me in tears with the emotions. Grab your copy to see how their short story and HEA happens as a family who all need each other.

As always a short romantic love story from K L Donn doesn't disappoint.
When Tommy writes to a solider for a class assignment he never expected to feel the way when the letters came back. Chatting to Gage was what he need and then to see he was perfect for his mum. With a plan in hand Tommy sets out to match make, will he succeed?
When Paisley reads the first letter from Gage the soldier Tommy is writing to hope arises in her chest. With the way life has been she is frightened to let anyone in.
Can Tommy and Gage get her to realize they could have it all together, but then things turn for he worst. Will Gage be able to explain or will Paisley and Tommy not hear him out.
This short story is full of heartache love sorrow and happily ever afters you must read this love story.

This was a very sweet love story. Young Tommy writes to Gage while he's over seas fighting the war. It's part of a class project. Gage writes back and a sweet bond forms between the two. Eventually Tommy plays match maker between Gage and his mom Paisley. I really enjoyed the letters back and forth between Gage and Tommy. As Gage begins to realize that maybe Paisley could be his the alpha hotness I love comes to the surface. Reading KL Donn's Love Letters series will bring romance back into your life. I love the aspect of writing to a solider over seas and finding love. It gives some hope to humanity in this digital age that sometimes the simple things still work. This book was a quick sweet romantic read and I'm looking forward to more in this series.

Gage's promises are never broken and he intends to prove just that.

Tommy an eight year old from Jersey's (from Dear Killian) class, writes to a soldier named Gage. Gage and Tommy become one pals and Tommy talks his mom, Paisley into writing to Gage as well. Paisley and Tommy are well acquainted with betrayal and a man letting them down. Tommy's father is a man who never shows up when he says he will and it puts a lot of stress on Paisley. Tommy blames her sometimes even though he knows it's not her fault. Gage is taken with both Tommy and Paisley, he wants them both to be his when he comes home. Now all he has to do is convince them and keep his promises. Loved this beautifully emotional read and you need to read it.

This was another short story in the Love Letter series. This is about Paisley who has a young son named Tommy. His mother is divorced from her abusive husband. Her son starts writing to a guy who is in the military named Gage. Tommy talks to Gage about his mother Paisley in his letters. Gage falls for Paisley and adores Tommy. I like how Gage falls for Paisley without even seeing a picture of her. It was sad to see that her abusive ex-husband was with Tommy and Paisley. It was sad to hear how things were overseas when Gage was serving in the military. I loved how this book ended when Gage returns home to be with Paisley and Tommy. This was sweet, sad and yes there were some spicy 🌶 🌶 moments between Gage and Paisley.

The past two days I have been reading the Love Letters series. I must confess that I had them on my Kindle but well, life happened. It was only when Bookbub told me that I did not have Dear Gage did I get the chance to finally sit down and read.

Well.

Gage and Paisley’s story was by far my favourite, although Killian, Maverick, Desmond and Lena all gave mind a much needed respite from the doldrums.

Gage and Paisley, and of course, Tommy, though… If I had a fairy godmother, and IF they are real, my wish would be that I can crawl into your book and assume Paisley’s role.

It’s funny, but can someone be envious of a fictional character? ‘Coz I am.

***ARC provided in exchange for honest review***

What a great novella that you will fall in love with from the first page until the last. Gage and Paisley will steal and capture your heart with their letters and developing love story. Tommy is the scene stealer with his jokes that makes you wish for their HEA. The letters are what bring this book to life, the words are raw and so real that you know the way the story is going and you're pushing yourself just to see if it happens the way you thought. I love this heartfelt novella and hope there's more to come.
