Writing from his hermitage in the forests of British Comumbia, Charles Brandt leads us in this retreat to a fuller sense of the sacredness of creation and of our oneness with nature.
Charles Peter Brandt was an American investigator, lawyer, writer, and speaker. He wrote the narrative non-fiction Frank Sheeran memoir I Heard You Paint Houses, the basis for the 2019 film The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci.
At first I was a little turned off by this book. I myself am not Catholic and it began by going through a bunch of Catholic teachers. However after the first 20 or so pages it took a turn.
This is honestly one of the deepest books I’ve ever read and also one of the most practical. It teaches Christian meditation so well and also a fresh Christian take on environmentalism.
Overall, a great read. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a short but immensely deep book.
