Good sampling of selections and quotes.

Good length for the selection and mini-sermon on it of just a couple of paragraphs. I wish there was more diversity of thought and more women, like the YouVersion app often has with its daily videos.

This is a truly magnificent devotional book. Featuring excerpts from Dallas Willard, Henri Nouwen, Frederick Buechner, A.W. Tozer, N.T. Wright, James Bryan Smith, Eugene Peterson, and Brennan Manning, this daily devotional cannot fail to inspire.

I recommend this book for anyone who is interested in spiritual formation and a solid, biblical daily devotional.

In addition to the great readings, you can find the books that the readings are taken from in the bibliography, which is helpful if you want to read more by the same authors.

I will definitely be keeping this one to use in future years. It will go on my shelf alongside other favorites, such as My Utmost For His Highest.

This was a bit of a mixed bag of devotionals. It really depended on the particular author. I found I was easily drawn to Nouwen, James Bryan Smith, and Willard as they're favourite authors of mine. However, I struggled a little more with Wright and Buechner's ones.

They all followed a similar outline: Bible verse, very short devotional, a question for reflection and a one line prayer. Many days I walked away contemplative as a result of the devotional; other days I was a little blah.

There are probably better devotionals that I'd recommend. I think I prefer single author ones.

This devotional contains essays from some of contemporary Christianity’s most quotable teachers. While I tend to prefer some uniformity in books like these, I found I quite liked the variety of perspectives and topics. Each day begins with a brief passage from Scripture that ties in with the reading, followed by a reflection question and a personal prayer. Some of the essays are stronger than others, with a tendency towards self-help in a few, but overall I enjoyed this collection that spoke to my heart in some unique ways.

Ok

Superficial twenty first century meditations. Up to date with current thought but lacking the riches of the church fathers and mothers. It is no mother Teresa,it is no Therese De mosaic

Awesome devotional

I chose this rating because of the range of the writers and their pedigree. The articles were short and straight to the point. I also like the short prayers at the end of each article

Like most devotionals, some entries are much better than others. Overall, worth staying with for a year.

Varied leaders of the faith

Each day a challenge. So many good writers with a glimpse into their genius. But also a glimpse into their faithfulness.
