In my journey of becoming the best version of myself, this book has given me a guide to achieve that goal. His transparency coupled with his teachings on wholeness have been galvanizing. I have gathered a new perspective on the importance of introspection while climbing up the steep mountain towards wholeness. He also eloquently laid out our tasks of working towards that goal, not merely basking in the idea of being who God created us to be. This is a continuous process all throughout life that is well worth the pain, toil, and vulnerability necessary.
The biggest lesson I can take away from this book is the importance of battling with our negative thoughts and taking time to meditate to find the source of our thoughts. All negative dialogue has a source from where it started. Whether it was direct words from an authoritative figure, failure that lead to a deep sense of inadequacy, or a violation that has occurred to you, the process of negative thoughts in fact have a origin. I have learned to challenge these thoughts, by pondering as to why I have such thoughts in the first place. This is a sign of emotional intelligence. It is the contrary of wholeness to have jealousy, strife, inadequacy, which ultimately is a sign of brokenness. I will challenge my thoughts with significant intentionality to achieve the best version of myself, not only for myself, but for God and others who I have the pleasure of being around!
