D-Day

Rate this book
General Dwight D. Eisenhower “You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world. Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely. But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The freemen of the world are marching together to Victory! I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory! Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.” D Day was one of the biggest invasions that the United States has ever seen. With the help of some deception, the Germans were taken by surprise and forced to scramble and attempt to get the upper hand back. In this book, you are going to go through all the events that happened on D Day and hopefully come face to face with the reality of what truly happened that day. Not only that but also learn what some of the men felt when they were going through the battle. I don't do book reviews

I don't do book reviews like you keep seeing, as I find that some give too much of the plot away and I personally hate that, as it makes the book not worth reading. I much prefer to take the authors back cover write up as a review as it can either intrigue you enough to read the book of provide you enough information to make you decide that the book is not for you.
My review rules are: The more stars, the more I liked it.
If there are too many typos or errors the less stars I give
If the storyline or plot is poor or contains too many errors, the characters are too weak, the ending lacking something, then the less stars I give.
Simple, uncomplicated and to the point without giving anything away.
Some of the books I read have been given to me by the author as a pre-release copy and this does not bias my reviews in any way.

Reads Like A High School Essay

I’m not sure if the author outsourced the writing, but while the book is easy to read and historically accurate, it reads like a sophomore essay on D-Day. Complete with strange sentence structure, inaccurate adjectives (“fake Mulberry harbors”) and simplistic descriptions, it’s probably best suited to a junior high schooler. I was hoping for much better given some of the author’s other books.

A step by step account about the events of the invasion of France, with all the numbers of ships, personal, vehicles, planes, etc. needed to accomplish this mission.

Interesting

I've read quite a few books on WWII and I have to say this one was of great interest. Makes a good Substitute for the lack of information taught in American Schools
