An adorable duck has a first sleepover with a cat friend in a barn. Of course, the duck wants to stay up and play. The duck and cat try to solve a puzzle. Who is making a certain sound. Various animals and their babies who are sleeping there get questioned. None of the animals know where the sound is coming from, but the reader is given a view of the source.

All of the animals are friendly. The friendship between a duck and cat and between the 2 friends and the other animals is unusual, but not unheard of. There are a few, non-fiction children's books, that have great photos on this topic. I have forgotten their names, off-hand.

This is a simple, sweet book of friendship and fun. I think young children would enjoy this a lot.

I'm beyond enraptured with the illustrations in this book! Seriously, they're fuzzy and feathery and inviting on every level! Even if the story wasn't up to par (which is definitely was!), I think I'd still be in love. Duck and Cat are ADORABLE, and the way they light up each page with a sweet expression while on their "whooo's there" hunt is delightful. Great fun for the smallest of smalls to the tallest of talls!

I remember slumber parties as a little girl. We would always have such ambitious plans to stay up and have fun all night long. Duck and Cat are enjoying a sleepover in the barn, but as the two friends start to nod off, someone is hooting very loudly. Young readers will enjoy finding out just who is making all the racket. Cute illustrations in soft colors make this a nice book to share with kids getting ready for their own sleepover parties.

The duck is going to sleep over in the cat's barn, but their ideas of a slumber party don't match. When someone in the barn calls out "woo-hoo," the duck and cat can't see who is keeping them awake, so they ask the different animals in the barn until they find the owlet.
Playful illustrations hold your interest as they search.

Interesting illustrations and I love the animals personalities, the flow and rhythm of the story is a little off for me, but it's playful and kids will like that.

Another adorable child-friendly adventure book by talented Carin Bramsen!

This time, Duck has permission to have a sleepover at Cat's house. (Okay, Cat's barn.)

Usually the text in this book is unobtrusively serviceable. Yet Carin does hit one high point, to my ears and imagination. Here's how Duck expresses her excitement over her first sleepover:

A sleepover.
I'm all all a-quack

Is that great or what?

IN THIS BOOK MANY ANIMALS ARE RENDERED SWEET AND CUTE, YET NEVER DISNEYFIED
If you know what I mean. And I have enjoyed many things Disney, but there's always a grab for wide appeal and (to me, at least) some manipulative, exaggerated cutefication.

For sure, in this book, Carin has chosen a perfect story to display her child-friendly version of animals; like the cleanest, sweetest pig ever. If these animals have a fragrance, I'm guessing that each one smells like floral perfume, made extra-light for ultra-sensitive young noses.

And, no surprise but still... I love the ending.

Thank you, Carin Bramsen, for delighting me yet again with your tender-and-bright creativity.

Duckling wants cat to teach him how to fall asleep, but duckling is awoken by a woo-hoo. Duckling searches the whole barn before finding who hooted the woo-hoo and then cat and duckling head off to bed.

The illustrations are very charming, especially when the duck climbs stairs to the hayloft! A good story about a duck and cat sharing a sleepover and searching for a new friend.

Not my cup of tea, but I see the appeal for young children who would certainly enjoy the interactivity.

Duck is having his first sleepover with Cat in Cat's barn. Duck is excited, and ready to party, but he keeps hearing "woo-hoos", and convinces Cat to help him locate where the sound is coming from. The sleepover soon turns into a game of hide and seek as Cat and Duck search the barn from corner to corner, and bottom to top.

As soon as the plan is made and parents are consulted, the excitement builds. Even if they are your next door neighbor, the thrill is still there. Thoughts of shared chatter, laughter and activities fill you up with joy. Is there anything more fun than getting to spend the night with your best buddy?

Two friends who never tire of encouraging one to be more like the other are returning for another delightful adventure. They met in Hey Duck! (Random House, January 22, 2013) and returned in a companion title, Just a Duck? (Random House, January 27, 2015). Sleepover Duck! (Random House, January 2, 2018) written and illustrated by Carin Bramsen is sure to have you smiling from beginning to end.
