Badges are better when you earn them together! The Mouse Scouts think their newest badge should be a cinch. But can old friends and new friends work side by side?
When Miss Poppy assigns the troop a new badge--Making Friends--the girls think it will easy. They're already friends, so what more is there to do?! But when the Acorn Scouts learn they will need to team up with the boys in the Maple Scouts as part of the badge, everything changes. Suddenly, Tigerlily seems more interested in hanging out with her Maple Scout pal than in being friends with Violet. Friendships will be tested and opposites will find they have more in common than they thought as the Acorn Scouts figure out what it takes to be true friends.
Brimming with lively black-and-white illustrations--including pages from the official Mouse Scout Handbook, plus diagrams, games, activities, and more--this darling series is just right for chapter book readers.
Sarah lives on a mountain in Vermont with her husband and their fidgety brown dog. Though Sarah strives for perfection, she seldom achieves it. Her house is rarely clean and her garden, when not buried under a snowdrift, is usually full of weeds. Overall, though, she has a pretty nice life. And if windows would only wash themselves, it would be just about perfect! Visit Sarah online at www.sarahdillard.com and www.mousescouts.com
I really like this series of books by Sarah Dillard. This story/series has such a nice sweet realistic message for students and would really appeal to students who love stories like Frog and Toad--about friendship. The illustrations are well done and the message in this book about friendship is spot on for children. I also loved that at the conclusion of each chapter there were instructions on how to make friendship bracelets or other activities that the scouts were doing in the story. This hands on experience for a student would be a great way to keep them engaged in the story after they are done. The chapters are not too long and the story is well written to accommodate younger readers. I will recommend this series to our elementary libraries! I think it will really be a hit with many students.
4/2/20 age 7 - The story is about Acorn Scouts who are earning a friendship badge, and they don't want to have the friendship party with the Maple Scouts. After that they finally all become friends and they're happy with the friendship party with the Maple Scouts. I loved it! I liked the part when they became friends because they needed to get steel wool out of Mrs. Pansy's mouse hole and since the two Acorn Scouts couldn't do it alone, they all became friends getting the steel wool. I did not like that the humans put steel wool in Mrs. Pansy's doorway. Words that describe this book: exciting, funny, surprising, inspiring, entertaining. It was funny when Tigerlily made a vow never to become friends with a Maple Scout and then she became friends with a Maple Scout. I would recommend this book to people who like exciting books, mice, crafts, and very exciting books.
Such a cute series, and I feel like this was the best one yet. It actually taught a very good lesson about friendship. It’s been awhile; I hope the author will be writing more.
