"No amount of stars can define this AMAZING story!" – Josie’s Book Escape

Ten years ago we said goodbye.

I left the world I knew to create a new life for myself. Away from the lies. Away from the pain.

It was all going as planned until a friend asked for help with her club. The business was liberating. The company was intoxicating.

Two masked men became my euphoria. One was a player deep in the game. A teacher both intimately and figuratively.

The other was a quiet director. A man who tempted me with his stares and set me on fire with his dark whispers.

His secrecy excited me, bringing me to levels I've never imagined. I thought we were playing a game, but little did I know he knew exactly who I was.

I just wish I figured out his true identity before I fell for his best friend.

This is a story of Angie Smith aka Evangeline, a 28 year old woman working at the law firm and attending the night classes to get her law degree...that is actually living under the changed name (Angie Smith), having ran from her past, her love, the life she had to give up on...

This is her goal now, and she's determined to achieve it...

Her friend Kamii makes a proposal to Evangeline, to take over the managing position in the highly private and exclusive BDSM sex club Kamii's husband Preston owns/runs, as Kamii is about to have a baby and needs some time off...

Evangeline/Angie accepts cause it's an ideal arrangement for her, no names, no label, just pure sexual pleasure...and she can be who ever she wants to be...free and liberated...

Cole Spence & Carter are friends from college days..., Cole works as a Law teacher and Carter is a doctor in a local hospital and they also share the same exclusivity in sexual encounters of this club. They work as a tandem and they always make it all about the woman they share, and her pleasure...

Now, the intercourse Cole, Carter & Evangeline engage in, is purely for the pleasure, they explore the sexual need and desire until the small things, palpable facts like smell, touch, voice, movement trigger the familiar notion...Cole is her teacher...and Carter...Carter turns out to be Evangeline's long lost love, and a man she shared a gift, a gift of life she had to give up for an adoption cause of the circumstances that separated carter and Evangeline in the first place...

Now, the sex is never just about the sex, it goes deep in fulfillment and emotional engagement and it transpires through the physical...their reactions are vast from turmoils, tantrums, jealousy and it all leads to the final result - the fallout...

but then the second chance still breaks through for Carter and Evangeline as they find each other all over again and get to know the life they missed out on...

*sigh*
ah, well... even though my own summarized blurb sounded interesting and angsty and edgy to me, while I was writing it, the sum of it all, was just an okay read with sexy, steamy sex scenes but unfortunately the relationships between the three characters were somewhat awkward to say the least. Why? Well, the range of sexual/emotional engagement wasn't enough for me to see the difference between the sex Cole and Evangeline have and the sex Carter and Evangeline have...

and then, all the pent up angst of Carter watching Evangeline having sex with Cole, and then tossing a fit and tears their friendship apart cause he didn't have the guts to come clear about the fact that Evangeline is the woman from his past who he never stopped loving...

well, tough luck Carter...you already let Cole fuck her multiple times...and now it's a problem when Cole develops deeper feelings for her as well...

I don't know, for me, it was a triangle without the actual triangle...if that makes sense at all?!

So, other than those steamy scenes, and the angsty, suspenseful notion growing around the characters under the masks, while they do not know yet, about their real identities...the part after the recognition...just went straight downhill with expectations...

This was a sexy, steamy, emotional, passionate second chance romance.I was intrigued from the moment I start reading it.There is a little bit of mystery at the very beginning wondering who is who but very quickly you can understand what is happening.

I don't want to give anything away because everything I say maybe a spoiler so it would be better if you go blind and enjoy this ride.Evangeline, Carter and Cole were complex characters.I couldn't decide if I like more Carter or Cole.

Overall it was a great story and I would love to read more books from Lauren Runow since she is a new author to me!

descriptionI like this cover. Good representation of one of the hereos. Great composition and title work as well.description

description This one was just OK for me. I liked it, but I wasn't wowed by it as I had hoped to be. And really it was all a "ME" issue because I felt the book was very well written and paced. It was fairly angsty and had some scorching sex scenes. Some good secondary characters etc.

I think my main issue was I just didn't connect to any of the three main characters. Evangeline wasn't the type of heroine I particularly enjoy in my romance books. No judgment on a woman if she wants to go the no relationship route and just do the one night stand thing, but as I said, that isn't the type of heroine I enjoy reading about. Plus I found her a bit on the manipulative and selfish side.

description

As for two heroes, love triangles can be iffy for me to begin with and for some reason, I thought and was hoping this one was going to end differently then it did. The behavior of both came across really juvenile to me, and I didn't particularly like the way they behaved towards each other since they were supposed to be good friends.

Eh, I dunno. Like I said it just didn't capture my attention as much as I had hoped it would. That doesn't make it a bad book just one that "I" didn't connect with entirely. I am certainly open to checking out other books from this author.description

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

I always love second chance romances, but it's a bit of a surprise to me that this is the second novel with a love triangle trope that I have enjoyed in this month alone. I guess that tells you that the drama that comes from love triangles is a captivating, even if the idea isn't usually my favorite. Lauren Runow's second chance, love triangle novel, Falling into the Black, is unique though. Characters Angie, Cole, and Carter share a connection, both men have intense attraction to Angie, and both men have a secret story with her that the other doesn't know about. They share her in the club, their masks hiding their identities, but outside those doors they vie for her attention in the real world. It's sexy, secretive, and even a bit angsty. It's not at all what you expect, especially when one character shares a past ten years old with her and the other enchants her with their forbidden trysts.

"Every touch, every kiss, every pulse means something, and I don't miss the way her head falls back or how her hands grip my back, trying to pull me in closer to her."

I found myself loving Carter and Cole, their dedication to Angie is every girl's dream, but if I had been Angie I would have ran the other way from both. Both men were willing to take their friend down, to forget about the things Angie had willingly done to hurt them both. It's hard to see men like that as someone you'd share a future with, but then Lauren Runow changes it up, she gives background to Carter and Angie's past, she brings light to Cole's friendship with Carter, and she gives us an ending that will make every reader happy. It's the happily ever after a girl like Angie deserves, especially after the nightmares of her youth. I really enjoyed the changing perspective; readers are given the opportunity to understand the minds of not just Angie, but of Carter and Cole as well. I think it really gave depth to the novel, it made each character seem so much more human. Plus, it makes the book more emotional, I loved being able to feel Cole's pain as he warred with himself over friendship or love, and I felt the anger Carter experienced as his old memories came to surface. There's also some incredible secondary characters that you are going to just LOVE, especially if you remember them from Black Widow. And the setting, don't get me started, sex clubs ALWAYS make for an intriguing read. Club Bridge is a bit more tame than others, but it's just as enticing, and I really enjoyed how Lauren Runow used it to bring the characters together in a slow way. It's erotic and gives a bit of suspense to the story.

"What we have is something special, and for this one moment, I never want it to end."

I did have a few complaints with how Falling into the Black read, the characters feel younger than their age and much of that is due to their dialogue and their thought processes. The situations they are in are very adult, but the simplicity of the reading makes this feel like I was reading about under-25 year old characters, not older characters. It ultimately did not take away from my enjoyment though, if anything it allowed me to read much faster. Which, trust me, you'll want to do, this book is hard to put down.

Falling into the Black is a standalone from Lauren Runow, author of the very sexy novel, Black Widow. Fans of erotica and a mild hint of BDSM will love this new release and will absolutely beg for more.

Fate is a bitch. Motherfucking love triangles and secrets.

I knew I knew I was going to suffer but I didn’t care, because well, I’m a masochist.

Cole & Carter. I wanted to like just one of them. It was impossible. Then I fell in love with both of them. Then I got confused. Then it was hot. Then I wanted to give them a junk punch. Then I fell in love again. This is an angsty, sexy contemporary romance with an emotional side that will lure you in and hold you captive until the last page.

While I knew where the story would go, I wasn’t sure the route Lauren Runow was going to take me to get there. And even when it hurt, I was very pleased and happy with the road taken.

There were some moments where the behavior of both heroes came across a bit immature to me (that’s why I wanted to junk punch them), they totally forgot about the friends over tits, LOL. But that didn’t keep me from enjoying the story because I knew it was part of the road. I got it, but that didn't mean I like it.

Regardless of my junk-punching tendencies… I loved this story. It made me feel, and that’s the reason I read. TO FEEL. So thank you Lauren Runow!

Enthralling. Fast paced. Falling into the Black is an addictive second chance romance mixed with a love triangle that will have you feeling like throwing your kindle out of the window because you are in love with two men and you just want to keep them both.

If you love second chance romances and the drama that comes with love triangles, one-click this baby and enjoy the ride.

Before I finish this review I want to say two things: There is a character in this book whom I want more, PLEASE. And why the heck I haven’t read Black Widow?

2 stars!

Falling into the Black by Lauren Runow
4 stars!!!

“Here we are, at the starting line. It’s not a race, but rather a marathon…”

Another new to me author and another author that will be on my radar and no doubt one that has given me a back catalogue to explore. Second chance romances are one of my favourite tropes and this one was delicious in its delivery. A great mix of erotica, romance, emotion, chemistry and angst. This one definitely tickled those sexy taste buds and was once again a book I couldn’t put down.

Evangeline was an enigma at first, she was confident, sexy, a force to be reckoned with and turned any head as soon as she walked into a room. Evangeline’s mere presence commanded everyone’s attention which belied the truth behind the façade. Yes, Evangeline had changed, but what she was running from and where she came from told a different story.

Cole and Carter were best friends and a double act in the sex club. Both were adorable in their own right and Lauren Runow certainly makes it difficult to pick a favourite. The dynamic between them was trusting and intoxicating and they were both well versed in how to make a woman feel good, especially Evangeline.

Cole was an open book, in the same field as Evangeline and as an added bonus, something else entirely which I am keeping my lips zipped about. Every interaction between these two was easy, natural and engaging.

Carter was the total opposite, he was Secret for a reason and while I sort of knew who he was it was still exciting to read. I loved how everything unfolded, the reactions they elicited and the journey that these characters took me on.

There are many twists and turns in this book and while some were predictable their delivery made this unputdownable. I loved the chemistry between all the characters, the banter, the dialogue and the humour. This gave the book that perfect mix of light and intense and had me laughing out loud at times, while squirming at others. A great read from Lauren Runow.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Previously, I had read Black Widow and enjoyed it very much... so I was intrigued to see where Ms. Runow would take us with 'Falling Into The Black' and this cast of characters, even though it is a standalone story.

I was not disappointed at all... I was quickly drawn into the story of Angie, Cole & Carter. And I even got to get little snippets of Kamii and Preston! My kindle may have practically sizzled the scenes were so hot. The story was well written and even though I knew who I wanted to be with... there was potential ;) No spoilers here, sorry!

Love the musical elements that are thrown in. That is always a huge plus for me, so it thrills me to no end that the author adds these to her work. As always, I appreciate the courtesy of the review copy in advance of the book's release!

FITB is my second book by author Lauren Runow. And though I didn't really love any of these characters, I am a sucker for second chance romance, so there was that. I don't know, it was a good storyline with a lot of potential but at times I just found the characters to be a bit childish. I wanted Cole to be this sexy, seductive teacher and Carter to kinda remain that silent hot alpha. Then there was ..Evangeline..I just really couldn't with her. Still, I would recommend this book to my fellow book friends because you never know they just might fall in love with this trio.

I liked this book A LOT. I found myself not loving it as much as I had hoped. If I'm being honest, I had no idea this was part of the Bridge Club series, so that was a pleasant surprise. If you haven't read Black Widow, I'd start there, interconnecting characters and such. The book is also amazing so there's that. This one started off completely melancholy. It didn't set the right tone for the series of events that took place right after. The heroine was definitely running from something. The next chapter threw me for a loop. She acted completely out of character from the first chapter, and I wasn't expecting that. She's SUPER outgoing in life and in her sexuality which wasn't portrayed at all in the beginning. It left me kind of confused. Insert hot teacher!! There's a ton of flirting and I enjoyed the back and forth. When her past catches up to her, some craziness goes down, and it is soooo hot and messed up at the same time. I have no other words for it. You've really got to read the book. The plot twists are insane, which I wouldn't expect any less from Lauren Runow. There's a bit of a love triangle going on, but don't worry about that. It's so worth it. Some parts will play with your heart strings, some will make you tingle all over, and some will make you want to cry. She definitely delivered all the feels. It's a really complex story, there's so many different layers to it, that's it's hard to get the words right.

I sat down this afternoon and said to myself, let's see how quickly Lauren can rip my emotions apart this time. Well.... it didn't take long..
This is by far the best book I have read by Lauren. Every book I have read by her has been amazing. Well this one blew every one out of the park.

I fell in love with Cole. Then comes Carter..Dear god I need a Carter!!
Poor Evangeline. This girl just made me tear up so many times while reading this book. The decision she made reminds me of myself when I was her age. She has become one of my favorite female characters.

Thank You Lauren for letting me read your words and falling in love with your writing all over again.

There were some insanely hot scenes in this book. It almost made me call my hubby home..But nah I will enjoy Carter and Cole and little more.

5 stars but deserves so much more!!!!

Wow. Why did it take me so long to read this? I DEVOURED this, reading this til four in the morning. It started out a little slow, but didn't take long to get going and once it did I couldn't stop. This was NOTHING I expected. It was sexy. It was intriguing. It was all kinds different. I love MFM stories especially if they're done correctly and this was definitely one of them. I honestly didn't know where it was going especially when it came to who the h was gonna end up with. The only reason why I didn't give it a straight up five stars was how it all supposedly came together at the end. Don't get me wrong, I liked who she ended up with, but how the unchosen one just seemed to jump right back into old habits. It just felt weird. Other than that, no complaints. Definitely putting this on my shelf.

Falling into the Black is such an intriguing second chance romance! I knew I would love it when I heard we would get to go back to Bridge. Bridge was introduced to us in Black Widow, which is an amazing read itself!
Angie aka Evangeline has agreed to secretly watch over Bridge while Kamii and Preston are preoccupied. (I don't want to give anything away. Lol!) Angie immediately sees a scene with Cole and Carter and decides to live a little!
What happens next is a story filled with passion, pleasure, intrigue, angst, a love triangle, heartbreak, and a lot of twist and turns. The story flows effortlessly and you'll be quickly turning the pages. This is definitely another must read from Lauren Runow!!

I definitely had some unexpected feels sneak up on me and that's always one of my favorite things about reading. I do want to say that there is a character in this book whom I want more of, I really hope there will be a book with their story. (Please!!) I COULD NOT PUT THIS ONE DOWN!

I couldn't and wouldn't take a break. I was so excited to read this one, because I fell in love with this cover. But also because I love a second chance romance. This one was so much more than just your everyday second chance love story. This is true love at its best. True live at its worst. True love at its brightest. True love at its darkest. Its about falling apart and attempting to put yourself and your heart back together.

I felt like I was running circles around this love triangle. Even when they didn't even know they were a love triangle.

Evangeline and Carter only had a few short months together. But that didn't change the amount of love that was able to grow between them. A love so true and strong, they knew it would stand the test of time and distance. Until life took a drastic turn. Evangeline disappeared and left Carter wondering what happened and where she was. He never stops looking for her, and is shocked when he finds her in the most unlikely of places. But she has her eyes on someone else, and that someone else just happens to be his best friend.

She's been struggling to find herself.
He's been struggling to find her.

She ran for certain reasons, so him finding her can be both a good and bad thing

I absolutely loved Carter. His vulnerability, his strength, his fierce never-ending love, is definitely book boyfriend material. If not husband material. Swoon worthy!!

Evangeline lost so much. She went through so much, and still seemed to keep her strength. She is awe-inspiring. And kinky as all heck. She is straight forward and not ashamed to hide the things that make her sexy. Super hot! Super kinky!

Falling into the Black by Lauren Runow is an emotional second chance romance with scorching sex scenes and just the perfect touch of angst. Angie left her small town 10 years ago, running from her past and trying to get a head up and make a future for herself. When offered the chance to join an exclusive sex club to assist her friend and co-worker to keep an eye on things, Angie jumps at the chance to fulfill some of her deepest fantasies. When she spots two handsome men who enjoy giving all their attention to a woman ~ together ~ Angie can't resist but something else is at play. Are Cole & Carter too much for Angie to handle?

I loved the way this story was told. We would get glimpses into the characters pasts slowly piecing together the emotional back story of our leads. This is truly a different style of second chance romance with including light BSDM elements that knocked me over with how original Falling into the Black is. I've read everything that Lauren has writen to date and hands down she is a must read in my book. Original stories, interesting characters with an emotional pull that keeps you glued to your kindle. 5 Stars for Falling into the Black by Lauren Runow

Oh wow!!!!!
This book had me hooked from beginning to end.... my heart was pounding at certain points and I stayed up late to finish it!! That's how much I enjoyed it!
I love the characters, I love that there is such a history there and I love hearing how characters from Black Widow are doing, this book just makes it feel so much more for me!
Angie ran away from home a long time ago to escape her life....fast forward 10 years and she's working for Kamii. When Kamii asks her to overlook things at the exclusive sex club!!
What eventuates will have you steaming under your collar and when certain people come to light, let's just say things don't always go to plan!
The drama, suspense, intrigue, sizzling tension, friendships and the beautiful words of this story captivated me!
Also I think Dr Carter Donovan may be my new McSteamy.. I mean oh my!!! That man is something else!!

Read it for yourself! An absolute must read in my opinion!!

Where do I begin? This story pulled me in from the very beginning, "Angie" has had one helluva past and she's focused on herself right now. We're taken back into Bridge and if you've read Black Widow like have you'll love how it intertwines but at the same time this book is a standalone that you'll absolutely enjoy. The scenes that we get to share in with her and these two men are sexy and oh so hot. It's not just about the BDSM club, there's so much more to these characters that you feel for them and want to cheer them on. Beautifully written and will have you hanging on each and every word. You'll smile, laugh, cry and even get a bit uncomfortable in the best way possible. A MUST READ without a doubt. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

This was the first book that I’ve read by Lauren Runow and wow! Why have I not read anything by her before now??

Falling Inside the Black was full of angst and kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through. I could not put it down.

It was the perfect blend of second chance love, student/professor love affair and then throw in a sex club holy cow do you have the making of one hell of a story!

Carter, Evangeline and Cole’s story was pure brilliance. The sex scenes were steamy and even though I wanted to strangle Cole towards the end I still absolutely adored this book.

Everyone should have this book in their library! Can’t wait to read more by this author.

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!!
The book description intrigued me. The story was excellent, so well written. I laughed, I cried, I loved and I lusted with the characters. Every single character had their own charm. I didn't want Evangeline to fall for Cole... but then I did. I wanted her to discover who Carter was but then my heart broke for both of them. Such a roller coasters of emotions, but such a beautiful HEA!

Two masked men became my euphoria. One was a player deep in the game. A teacher both intimately and figuratively.

A Second Chance Romance with a love triangle twist that’s off the charts hot!

I saw a review call this a 'ménage' but I definitely disagree. There was none of that going on (sadly) but it was more of a horrid love triangle (we all know how much I hate those)

Long story short,
The beginning was sooooo slow
But the end was too fast

I was left wanting it to be a bit more developed.

Honestly, it wasn't the 'sexiest' thing I've ever read. It was just ok.
