This book was phenomenal.

I’m not the most diverse reader in the world; I typically stick to the rom coms that book tok recommends, but I went to school with the author and have always wanted to read her books (even though you would never catch me reading a book for pleasure during high school). Again, thanks to Tik Tok, I’ve found a new love for reading, so I finally got my hands on this book.

This book made me laugh, it made me cry (wish I was joking), it made me mad. After a while, my brain was getting mushed from all the back and forth of “oh no, this situation ain’t lookin too good” straight to “oh wait, nvm, lol” right back to “oh wait, no, still going bad” and again, back to “oh, oh, we good” circling all the way back to “awwww shit, here we go again.” Essentially, my emotions were doing somersaults all throughout reading this damn book.

I absolutely cannot wait for my friends to read this book so we can discuss our feelings about the characters & plot lines together.

I really enjoyed the whole concept of the story, a teenager who grew up in the agency, who has spy parents and grandparents and who’s whole family had been spies. It’s big boots to fill. She struggles to feel good enough to be named after the legends. She struggles to deal with normal teenage things as well instead of just being some tough spy girl.

The writing improves so much as the story goes on and as characters and the plot develops, you find yourself drawn into the book. I am one of these people that like to read books when I have a whole day free (or most of the day) so if I get into a good book I can just sit and devour it.

At the beginning I was doubting if this was a book for me. A teenage girl who is a spy and has to save her boyfriend. I was thinking of a book that I was going to throw against the wall because it made no sense and the whole thing was more of a mushy lovey dovey book. Which there is nothing wrong with, but it’s something I really struggle to enjoy and read.

It was full of action and wasn’t heavily focused on loads of detailed kisses in ridiculous places and unrealistic situations.
