WHAT IF THE BEGINNING COULD ALSO MEAN THE END? When a peaceful island in the Indian Ocean isn’t far enough away to escape danger, where do you go? With your wedding in ruins and your fiancé arrested, what do you do? It was supposed to be a new beginning, but it ended before it began. Naomi Hamilton knows why. Knows who’s responsible. Knows what he wants. The king, guarded by his faithful defence. One man who’ll stop at nothing. One girl who’s tired of hiding. Because maybe running isn’t the answer. So maybe there’s only one way to put an end to the game. To face it. Play it. Head to head.
Tori de Clare is UK author of The Midnight Saga, mystery/suspense/thriller series set in Manchester. #1 Either Side of Midnight #2 The Darkness Visible #3 Shadows to Ashes Tori's career has been in music. She has privately taught piano and theory of music since 1987 and, ready for a challenge and believing she had a story to tell, began writing in 2009. Despite the classical music background, Ms de Clare is very grounded and loves nothing better than a good laugh. Mum of four and one of seven children, Tori finds little time for hobbies outside of family, reading, writing and teaching. Her very busy life gives her the perfect excuse to opt out of ironing and all forms of keep-fit. The only working out she now does is how to avoid accompanying her husband to the gym. Permanently. Daughter of two pianists, music was destined to be her career (sigh! Cursed fate). Her dad died when she was just 18 and always aspired to being a writer. Either Side of Midnight is dedicated to him, and to her mum who taught her to play the piano.
Wow!! This was an amazing read, very well worth the wait. I was truly impressed with how Tori was able to tie up all of the loose ends and give me closure. Can't wait for the next series. Would buy any and all of her books in a heartbeat.
Just loved the twists and turns and intrigue of this book , love all 3 of the series, sorry l have finished it , as l didn't want it to end , well done tori de Clare .
I took this last episode of the Midnight Saga on holiday with me to The Isle of Wight. As I was also accompanied by my wife and four grandchildren I really thought I would not get to read it. We went to the beach on Tuesday and I started it while the children were building mermaids in the sand. I simply couldn't put it down! It took 4 such beach visits to finish it. So many twists and turns, such a beautifully complex plot, I loved it - the three books got better and better, the characters developed wonderfully and even at the end there is yet another twist in the tail! It really would not be beyond reason that there is still more to this story!
Great series, really enjoyed it. Lots of twists and turns and surprises I didn't see coming. Each book got better and better. Still not sure how I feel about the ending but it doesn't take away from how great this last book in the series was.
I rarely leave reviews as I typically can’t wait to move on to the next adventure, but this story (the whole of the trilogy) is the first in many, many years that caused me to throw away an entire weekend of plans in order to get through it. Just enough character development to form an opinion, but the suspense and the twists to the story line present a challenge to your judgement throughout the entire saga.
This series gets into your head from page1 of book1 and doesn't let go until the last page of book 3. Readers should not attempt to read the series out of order, since each book is a continuation of the one before.
That said, the twists and turns of the multiple plots at times left me exhausted. But no matter how good a detective a reader might be, I doubt anyone will be prepared for the final ending. Readers of thrillers should do themselves a favor and settle in for one of the best series I have read in quite a while. Tori de Clare is an author I can't wait to read again.
This was this best of the three book even though 1 and 2 were also good. The characters were very well laid out. I was glued to my seat with suspense and the author made you feel emotions for Victor you would never expect.
The characters were strong and surprising.
I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoyed mystery and psychological thrilller's.
Wow, just finished this book and boy was it worth the wait. Every loose end tied up. Tell me though, why did a little bit of me want her to end up with Solomon?

I love these characters and was secretly hoping Naomi would fall for Vincent! Really wish the story had not ended! Now on to read Tori de Clare's other titles!
I've now read all three of the Midnight Saga series and the third book brought the threads together in a story that was beautifully written. In Shadows to Ashes the characters were well defined, their individual personalities sharpened. I felt Naomi's desperation, Lori's loneliness and Henry's stress. And they are only three of the many colourful and interesting characters that populate this story. The facts were well researched, especially scenes in the prison, which had me wincing at times. I loved the ending which was not only poignant but also a delight to read as it rounded up the saga in a surprising way. Even so, this was a gritty story and includes scenes that depict Manchester's underworld, sometimes in a very frank way. I can absolutely recommend The Midnight Saga series. But I feel it's important to read Book one first and follow the series through, in order to enjoy the full impact of Naomi and Dan's story and all they endure.
I would give this author ten stars! Tori Dr C!are has done a spectacular job writing of love, lies, deceit and mystery at every turn of a page in her novel. Many and varied twists and turns that captivate the reader into wanting more . Each chapter building upon the previous one heightening our sense of excitement of wanting to know what happens next. The author's descriptive words of scenes, characters, actions and emotions make the book come alive for the reader. I highly recommend Tori de Clares Shadows to Ashes to all those lovers of action packed novels.
This is the best series that I have ever read in my entire life! This Author should become , not the next Agatha Christie, not, Sir Conan Doyle, not any of the mystery writers today, who can't write without an f word! Tori de Clare is a powerful, emotive, suspenseful, heart pounding Queen! I highly recommend reading all three books, one after the other, or you will be sorry! This is meant for the big screen! Yay for the new Author of Mystery, Spuspense, and Thriller! I highly recommend! Thank you! carolintallahassee
What a great trilogy. I thoroughly enjoyed these books. It was a slow start in the beginning but once the game started with Vincent the story took off. I found myself as confused as Naomi sometimes where I was rooting for the bad guy. I liked how this book focused on different points of view throughout. Even though I was able to figure out most of the surprises before they happened the story still held my attention and kept me guessing. Great story, great book, and terrific ending!!
Wow! I was very impressed with this book. My favorite one from the series. It kept your attention thru out with a couple of big twists. There is a bigger one at the end and I would love for another book or two to find out how everything turns out. Naomi and Vincent dominate this story, but it's not all about them. Dan is having a few problems in prison and Henry tries to keep his family together. In the end it all pulls together one way or another.
My only complaint about these books wound be that I found the main character to be mildly annoying. However, the story made the books nearly impossible to put down. The twists were so well done and I didn't see most of them coming. Wow. Well done. I highly recommend this series.
An interesting series, with several plot twists and turns, some predictable. Unfortunately I found the series could have been much shorter with a faster pace if it only had two books. Many scenes seem to have been rewritten, with a few changes, and it was the same song playing over and over. A great idea though.
There are books that grab you from the first page and never let go until the end.
The Midnight Series was an unexpected surprise. Strong characters, twists and turns, romance, fear, loss and redemption.I loved every single bit.You need to read this one, you won't be disappointed.
We're following the woman's family through 3 books of twists and turns and heartbreaks and so much mystery if you just can never fake route the ending or what's gonna happen there so many surprises one of the best series I've ever read
Found the first 2 in series totally unnecessary. I struggled to read them and then The story was repeated again in the 3rd which turned out to be the best with lots of twists and turns. Quite a thriller eventually.
