*** This is the final book in the Ray series and is not meant to be read as a standalone. If you have not read previous books, this review will have spoilers to the earlier books. Read at your own risk.
This was not an easy book to read, yet I devoured it as soon as it hit my kindle. It has the one thing that I really don't like in romance books, but I was so hooked on this couple, I needed to see them get their HEA.
Book 4 ended on a huge cliffhanger and Book 5 was the aftermath of learning that Zeke got drunk and slept with someone. This whole book was about Rae learning the truth from Zeke and dealt with the emotions from both Rae and Zeke as well as the group of friends and what it took to heal. It was heartbreaking but you could also see how much this couple truly loved each other.
Despite all the heartbreak, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I loved the 2 epilogues at the end.
I so loved this series, and I really wanted to give it 5 stars but, I just couldn't. First off this series can't be read as stand alone and needs to be read in complete order. Now with that being said i don't want to give to much away in my review or it will ruin the finale of Rae's story.
The things I loved is how everyone got there happy ending somehow and I wasn't left wondering what happened to the secondary characters. And I loved Safari and Rex too, lol.
What I disliked was the fact that I have been team Zeke since book 1 but, this book I really switched back to team Ryker. I understood everyone's animosity towards Ryker cause of what unfolded in book 2 with him. But what I fucking hated was how everyone kept pointing out what Zeke did was kinda Rae's fault and she should forgive him. FYI it wasn't Rae's damn fault at all!!!!! Ryker broke her heart yes, she saw him with another woman shortly after there break up yes but, what Zeke did was so much worse!! But everyone was okay with what he did and made Ryker seem like a soul sucker or something. I hated the ganging up on Rae, it really bothered me.
I adored Ryker in this book, he really grew up and fixed himself and his issues and he was really there for Rae the entire time.
I know EL Todd is writing one more and I can't wait to read it. Like I said I truly loved this series and did appreciate the ending but, was just disappointed with some of the behavior.
Me han encantado estos libros, todos..... enganchan como a veces necesitas que te enganche una lectura.... y a la vez son tam frescos y ágiles de leer.... voy a seguir leyendo a esta autora, sin duda.
I really liked the book, BUT, there were several issues that annoyed me and made me take away a star.
Cheating = happened in the past and recounted through confession H makes to the h. H saw h having dinner with ex (OM) whose father had died and assumed they must be reconciling. H and h were in a committed relationship and rather than confronting the h or having any conversation, H gets drunk and screw some random. H claims he was really drunk, but he's sure he wore a condom....much later in the book, after H and h reconcile for less than an hour, we find out that H actually had a threesome when the h and H run into the random he slept with who wants to go round two with H and is okay with having another threesome.
Grovel = H couldn't stand the guilt about his cheating so confessed when h asked him to move in together. H is shocked when h dumps him immediately. H and h are madly in love and both are beyond devastated that they are broken up. H grovels by word and somewhat by deed (sending flowers, sending texts). h forgives him and they get back together when as mentioned above, h comes face to face with H's random ONS. What's H grovel after that? He confronts h and said it doesn't matter and since she forgave him for sleeping with one random woman what does it matter if it was two? So H gives ultimatum to h that she stay with him or he's done with her. h chose to be done and H is shocked (*eye roll*).
h sees H with OW = after second breakup, H's and h's brother's grand plan is to use a gorgeous woman to make h so jealous and possessive that she'll get back with the H. h has to see the H stare lovingly into OW's eyes, touch of sweetly, hold hands, kiss, etc. Grossly enough, the "make h jealous" plan works and h goes crawling back to the H in the middle of the night and begs HIM to forgive her and get back together. (excuse me while I gag)
H sees h with OM = OM has become a better person and has made apologies to the h about what an awful person he was, they agree to be friends and h is very clear that is all they will be. OM helps h after first breakup by being a shoulder to cry on, keeping her safe when she's too drunk, getting her out of the house, making sure she eats, basically being a good friend. Funny enough, H trusts that h and OM will not sleep together because he trusts her (heaven forbid he had given the h the same grace previously else thy would not be broken up). After second break up, and after having it shoved in her face that H is now going out with OW, h is completely devastated and uses the OM as a living sex toy. h is still very clear she does not want a relationship but that she is willing to use OM which OM is fine with. H sees h and OM together, but h is much more considerate to the H in that she will not touch or have any kind of intimacy like kissing in front of the H.
Why this lost a star for me: Everyone including the OM kept telling the h to forgive the H and stay with him as it was just a mistake that he tripped and fell into another woman's vajayjay (well two other women's to be accurate). EVEN the OM was pushing the h to get back with the H (*insert head blowing up emoji*)?? To keep having what the H did referred to as a mistake and THEN many others keep turning it around and BLAMING the h for being around the OM too much and making the H insecure. B-L-A-M-I-N-G the h!! Telling the h that she needs to accept responsibility for her part in H's cheating!!!!??? WTF? So yeah. h goes to a dinner with the OM whose dad died, H sees OM holding/kiss h's hand, H proceeds to get drunk and have threesome without ever talking to the h as he assumed they were done, hides it from the h for MONTHS (but at least he was kind enough to get tested after his ONS, but not before he went back to sleep with the h - BARE), h's brother knew about ONS and urged H to keep it a secret to the grave, H confesses out of guilt because he wanted to make sure h had all the info before they moved in together....and the h is being told by one and all SHE needs to apologize/forgive the H as she knows he's not a cheater??? Excuse me. He did cheat and he had a ONS/threesome, but minimizes it and expects the h to get over it. I just cannot...blaming the h...ugh, just no.

Title: Ray Of Heart Author: E. L. Todd Publisher: E. L. T. Series: Ray # 5 Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review:
"Ray Of Heart" by E. L. Todd
My Thoughts:
What a beautiful ending to this Ray # 5 series and I must say I enjoyed all of these series. Rae was truly a pill at times with her changing her mind going back and forth with what she really wanted. Be ready for a little bit of it all from 'heartache, love, friendship, heartbreak and there was even some sports' bring into the read that will definitely keep you turning the pages to the end to see what would go on next. I enjoyed how this author brings it all finally together giving the reader one beautiful ending that wasn't just for the two main character but .... I will stop here and just say you will have to pick up 'Ray Of Heart' and see for yourself how well this story all comes out. I liked the family and friend support that was so very strong in this series and showing how in the end one can change if they really want it. I wouldn't only recommend this series but the whole series 1-5. The readers will not be disappointed.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by the author)...
POV: Dual POV (Rae and Rex)
Spoilers:
I have to say this book was a little annoying to read. The story basically turned into a bad episode of 90210 where thirty years old are acting like teenagers playing games with each other feelings. Zeke cheated on Rae and everyone just wanted her to forgive him and move on; Rae did a no-no but in no way does that allow Zeke a pass to cheat. Then Rex concocts a plan to mess with Rae's feelings so bad that she hits rock bottom, all in hopes that would make her take Zeke back. Ryker actually redeemed himself in my eyes by being what Rae needed and trying to help her make the right choice. All they needed was a little time as well as space and basically for everyone to mind their own business.
This is last book in the Rae and Zeke saga but next we get Ryker's story and I can't wait to see what happens.

It's hard for me to review this book because of how I feel personally. I understand where everyone was coming from and why they would feel a certain way but I couldn't get over all the hating for one person (who was just a jerk) and the love for a cheater (even if it was a one time thing). I just didn't like the back and forth and the pushing. Who are you to say someone should forgive?
The writing was good and the story ended I guess how it should have. I just don't like how this last book went.
I don't know why I feel disappointed reading the book.I was inhaling the series and from the first book I was hooked on the characters. Rae tries unsuccessfully to get over Zeek but when she is finally able to forgive him and move forward insert drama and cue break up.I really liked the plot development at this part in the book.It was like ridding a never ending roller coaster. I didn't want the book to end.The whole dynamic of the group is addictive. Each sub plot is awesome to read about. Especially Rex's part.He was my favorite character in the series, I didn't see much of Rex and Kayden in the book.Yes there was progress in their relationship but I wanted more.I was team Ryker in the first two books then I was Team Zeek all the way through. Zeek only had my pity in the first two books of the series but then he was great.Checking all the write boxes, saying all the write things and doing everything right until he didn't. In this book though i felt as if all the characters became a bit immature.but I still loved the book very much.
E.L. Todd does it again. This was an awesome series and I really enjoyed reading it. I would definitely recommend this series. I finished it in a few hours.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This is my review for all 5 books and I’m about to be brutally fucking honest.
I started out interested and then just got pissed off
Number 1. Love triangle and cheating, no from me.
Number 2, Zekes last name changed 3 times, consistency please!? Editing nightmares like this I’m so anal about, I can’t even cope with them.
Number 3. Why was the story told from the POV of her and her brother? Surely it should of been the love interests.
Number 4. Why were there multiple stories going on at once? This isn’t Friends, one couple each book please, why are you confusing me with raes relationship drama and her brothers relationship dramas in one book at the same time!?
Number 5. And arguably the most important point I’ll make… Ryker was an absolute ballbag the entire first book and not even in a good way, but there’s no way on earth what he did was worse than Zeke cheating on her?? And the fact they all kept blaming it on Rae and telling her to get over it? He had a fucking threesome and went home to her the next day! And even her own fucking brother is telling her to move on and take him back!? Nope.
I just can’t this has amazing potential but the characters weren’t developed well, the POVs it was written in were just wrong, and I’ll be honest I didn’t want her to end up with either guy, they were both bellends. I’m honestly so annoying, taking back a man child that can’t take accountability for his actions and blames his girlfriend for him having a threesome behind her back. Fuck right off, no self respecting woman would go back to that.

5 books in & I almost didn't finish. If you want to learn what not to do in a relationship, I suggest this book.Warning this has SPOILERS but I need to vent. What is wrong w everyone in this book? The whole premise of this book is that Zeke misreads a situation & instead of discussing it like an adult, SPOILERS!!! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED............... Goes & cheats on Rae. The REST OF THE BOOK is every one of her friends convincing her she was in the wrong & that she should just "get over it." Not once did Zeke grow a pair & take accountability for HIS actions. Even when he tells her, it's because of what she did. Every time they discuss it, it's never his fault. Then he starts getting angry about it & saying things like "I wish she'd pull her head out of her..." ummm... No. You screwed 2 other women the second your relationship got difficult. Then the emotional manipulation at the end? The brother lost ALL credibility in my mind and Zeke didn't have any left by then, but if he did, he'd have lost it. That is not how you treat someone you love. Let me completely tear you down until you have nothing left, so you'll have no choice but to want the cheater back. This whole book was so toxic. I'm so mad I wasted 5 days on this series. And reading others reviews about how romantic it is or how Rae really screwed up are killing me. This is not how to be a friend, lover, boyfriend, or family. It's sad that so many people think that this is ok.

This summary actually ties a bit better to what we get in this fifth installment of the series. Everyone seems to be in a better place – we see the couples finding their footing, that is until there are slips and those slips are fairly significant.
I’ll start with Rex and Kayden since they are the easiest. We know that they are finally in a good place with each other and given that they aren’t the main characters of this saga, we can expect that they will continue to have smooth sailing ahead. We see things grown and continue on a good path and what that means is that we get to see Rex as the caring and protective brother rather than the ass who really has no frame of reference to anything outside of himself. He’s now a person and even a person that we like. Kayden continues to be the grounding force here and she’s a powerful and strong woman that’s great for this friendship circle.
Then there’s Jessie – she’s still got her player ways, but she’s now got the conquest of Tobias as an option. He’s into her and she’s into the idea of him so that means that we don’t have to worry about her being the third or fifth wheel anymore.
Now onto Rae – and Zeke – and Ryker. This is a love triangle that’s a mess. Just when we think that things are going well, the floor falls out beneath them. Rae wants to maintain her loving relationship with Zeke and has no reason to worry about what she does, until Zeke gets out of his mind jealous and that turns ugly. All Rae wants to do is be the best friend, girlfriend etc. for everyone and that in her head isn’t doing something wrong. When Ryker needs to talk to her, to let her in a bit and share why he was the way he was, that’s the breakthrough that she’s been looking for the entire time that she’s known him, but she even tells him that it’s too late. The issue here though is that Zeke sees the conversation but doesn’t hear it and thinks the worst and as a result, he throws away the best thing that happened to him – pushing Rae so far away that the idea of reconciliation is impossible.
The bulk of this story is watching Rae figure out what she can live with since she can’t live with what Zeke did. We see her fall apart and we see Zeke hit rock bottom. We see Ryker there to pick up the pieces in a way that Rae needs – proving to us that he’s really a good guy even when we only want to think the worst of him from previous installments. We know his intentions aren’t pure but he’s what Rae needs and that’s honorable.
Just when we think they are all at their lowest lows, we see a ray of light shine down in the form of forgiveness and then it all crashes and burns again.
This is probably the most extreme roller coaster yet for this group of friends, and i don’t know if they will ever be the same for it. Friends are forced to choose sides, trust is broken, games are played and those never net out well for anyone. You definitely need to read on to find out what happens and what may come next.
The series is supposed to be a romantic comedy but I can’t say that’s the case for all the books, not all of them I found to have a comedy anywhere near it, book one for example. So why did I continue to read the series well honestly because I was on the ARC (advance readers copy) list. I read other books by E.L todd and I can tell you one thing she seem to follow the same format for her characters, they are youthful early 20’s and somehow live very soap opera lives.
Rea , oh Rea….she does what every girl should never do she falls not only the bad boy but her brothers best friend as well in one series. Like I said book 1-5 or Light – Heart focus on the relationship between Rea, Ryker and Zeke. While the characters were easy sometimes I found myself questioning their intelligence. While the books were good and I kept reading, You could easily tell what was going to happen before it happened. So the twists through that series really in fact were not really a twist but still written well enough that I still read on. But by the time you reach book 4 it goes from being on a good streak down to plop. Book 4 was just completely mind-boggling and not in a good way at all. The relationship that formed with Rea and Ryker was hot and steamy. But then Zeke happens and it fell flat for me. It just wasn’t there, you know what mean. That sparks. I didn’t feel it. I didn’t even feel it towards the end. I was so team Ryker and E.L. Todd was so set on Zeke and Rea.
There is a lot of back and fourths in these books, like all of them you’ll find it happening at least once in every book. Throughout the book you don’t find your usual run of the mill problems for young adult. Rea is scientist, Rex ( her brother also the comedic aire in the book) won the lotto and bought a crappy bowling alley, Ryker (guy number) was left his father’s company and is now Rea’s boss and Rex’s friend, Zeke (guy number 2) is a freaking doctor and Rex’s best friend, Kayden and Jessie are the best friends of Rea. I'm rating this as a series as I have sped through them, basically as I couldnt wait to see what happened.
First off I skip through books alot, I get bored easily if they don't hold my interest and in the 3 days it's took me tobread these books I've just realised I haven't skipped any, I absolutely loved it all.
amazing loveable characters, maybe a little too much at times, but it's the group of friends we all want.
I'm not going to read rykers story, I may in the future, I just want it to end in my mind like this.
I went through every emotion with this series, I really couldnt stand ryker to start, it was a terrible relationship and it was just always one thing for him, bossy too, but when I read the blurb about zeke I was honestly traumatised as I wanted rae and ryker to be together, but everything worked out amazingly, although jn the back of my head I still love rae and ryker :(
SPOILERS! I think the author missed an opportunity to turn this series into a really good read. There were issues that could have been explored with the female lead character...Rae...with her mom's suicide and she could have gone into Ryker's past as well. I think that is truly what ruined the series for me. I felt Ryker was short changed in all of this. I am actually glad he did not end up with Rae...she was incredibly selfish and I was team Ryker all the way. Too much drama and manipulation with Zeke. The book just seemed like immature drama in between sex scenes. I actually skimmed through a lot of the sex because it quit being hot and began being repetitive. I am not a fan of these books at all. I did read five of them before reviewing...wish I didn't. I actually thought book five would unleash the deeper details...didn't happen. Don't get sucked into this nonsense...move on.
After shoving Ryker in Zeke's face multiple times, she should have expected this to happen. She gets blindingly drunk too & isn't at all aware of what she does when she's in that state. It seems she cannot show Zeke the same courtesy when he does it after she has practically goaded him into it thru her own actions. She should forgive him. Hell, she forgave Ryker & i thought what he did was way worse.
If you want forgiveness in your own life, you absolutely must be willing to forgive others. None of us are perfect. Granted, the relationship will never be the same, but you can build a new one with that person that is even better.
Rae practices a serious double standard and she absolutely needs some serious counseling. She was seeing her & Zeke's relationship thru rose colored glasses...hell, they both were. They had each other up on pedestals & not is it easy to get knocked off those things.
This is book 5 in the series. By the time I'm halfway done with this book, I'm ready to kick Rae's ass. I'm sick and tired of her unyielding ways and her lack of forgiveness for Zeke's one mistake and for not taking responsibility for her part in their whole fiasco of an up and down relationship. Then, voila, who should step up and play self-sacrificing hero, but....well I won't go into that. Read it to find out. The last quarter of the book made the rest bearable, including, surprisingly Rex and Kayden. Who woulda thunk? It's worth the wait, worth the angst and stupid mistakes, and mis-communications, and all the heartache, because that is how real life goes. I guess that's the moral of this story. All's well that ends well. I'm on to the next book. This author has a way with sucking me in and making me care. I really kind of love that.
I did love the book, because they got back together. I’m so glad she picked Zeke. Although, the plot line was somewhat misleading.
But I loved their chemistry. I spoiled it for myself slightly, I had to know what I was getting myself into before I read it. So I looked up reviews to make sure she got back with him. I read something about him dating another girl to make her jealous, but I’m glad it was all fake. Was a little manipulative though.
Rae had double standards. It’s not about Zeke controlling who she can, and can not see and talk to. But it’s about her having respect for him not to speak with her ex-boyfriend. He just kept popping up everywhere.
I thought it was bad of her to use Ryker that way. Sure he did it to her in the beginning. But Rae is a different person from doing that.
Overall a fantastic series

After Zeke decides he can't live with himself if he doesn't tell Rae about his one night stand when he thought they were through, everything goes to hell. Rex tried to tell him not to tell Rae but Zeke had to do the right thing. Now that their world has fallen apart no one knows how to behave. With the group in danger of never being the same they try to be friends only to find their way back to each other and once again Zeke's mistake comes back to haunt him once more. It takes a whole lot for them the get through the rough patch but in the end they can't stop loving each other. With Ryker losing Rae and having realized how he felt too late maybe he can turn over a new leaf and be a dream for some other lucky girl.
While I was not a huge fan of Zeke compared to Ryker I really fell in love with him through this series and especially this book. Rae was really hard on him and I was team Zeke the whole time. Love can be very difficult and it can cause you to make stupid mistakes but true love conquers all and that was the main moral of this story. I absolutely love Rex. He makes me laugh out loud and I love the secondary story of him and Kayden thought these books. I would love to have a continuation story of them because I think there is so much more to their story. We just scrapped the surface of those too.
Honestly, reading these books felt like watching 5 seasons of the show Friends; except the characters and humor weren't as good.
The characters were all around 30ish, but pretty often their dialogue and thought process had me thinking they were in their early 20s. It had several moments where I was shaking my head at what was happening or being said, and thinking "Seriously?"
Rae was the main character and unfortunately I was not a fan. To me, she came off as a know-it-all who did no wrong. I actually liked Ryker more than any of them.
Overall it was just ok for me. It kept my attention, but I didn't love it like I hoped I would.
Overall, the books all ended with you wanting to see what happened next so you would purchase the next book. Jessie was 8 months pregnant in the Epilogue 1 and Rae, Zeke, Rex and Kayden were going to leave to go to Hawaii. As close of friends as they all were, that would not happen. Then, in Epilogue 2, it talked about how Rae and Zeke were having a baby. (Her water broke and she delivered a baby boy). Never mentioned when she got pregnant. Then in the next book, Rae was telling Ryker about Jessie’s pregnancy and it never mentioned anything else about Rae and Zeke’s baby.
I couldn’t review the previous book because I was just annoyed with what was happening. But because I needed to know the outcome of this situation I went to the next book right away. Thank god I did. Things finally got better. They got a lot worse first, but then it was better.
Rae is to blame for a lot of things. She is not respectful of Zeke’s feelings towards her behavior with Ryker and seems to do things just to piss him off. Ugh. So much annoyance.
That being said, Zeke is NOT justified in what he did. No matter how mad at her or upset he become, what he did is never the answer. For the group as a whole to continue to pester Rae into taking him back is beyond me. That was his fault and he deserved worse.

This is my first series/story where the POVs are brother and sister.
It’s one of the funniest and entertaining reads I’ve come across and anybody who has loved friends series will get what I’m saying when all 6 characters remind you of one of the friends characters. I wanted to say Rae and Rex was Ross and Monica but for me Rae was more Rachel and Rex was Chandler but with Joeys dopiness lol I think Rex was my favourite in the end. He was so clueless and laid back but has a heart of gold and loves hard, even when he thought he couldn’t love.
If you’re looking for a laugh, entertainment and something different then this is your series. Highly recommend it.
I have read the first 5 in this series and this one is my least favorite. First, I want to say the author has a fantastic writing style. Everything I have read by EL Todd takes the reader on an adventure and keeps their attention like no other. Even though these characters made me mad and frustrated I just could not put the book down! I almost stopped reading 3/4 of the way through the book as Rae made me sick - childish, whiny baby she is; but I just could not let go!
The Ray Series is my favorite. It is the 5th book and it was by far the best. I laughed and I cried. My heart broke for Rae, Zeke and Ryker. It is about how our actions have consequence and can alter our lives forever. But it's also about how we move on from those defining moments and learn from them. By the 5th book I feel like I am reading about old friends. I cannot get enough of this series. I can't wait for the 6th and final book.
A series of books that have kept me excited and ready for the next
This is a must read series about a group of life long friends that are more like family that truly end up being one big happy family. This book has many twists and turns for Zeke and Rae. The best ending of all endings in my opinion! I thoroughly enjoyed the series as a whole. Couldn't wait to get to the next book! Now.....about Ryker......please.
