He's the man you'd never remember. The hero you'll never forget.
Meet CIA paramilitary Harry Nichols.
He's a fifteen-year veteran of the war on terror, fifteen long years spent fighting in the shadows of the world. Unknown and unseen. Hunting America's enemies, bringing them down.
With over 100,000 copies sold, bestselling author Stephen England now presents the first three thrillers of the acclaimed Shadow Warriors saga in a single bundled volume, offering more than 1,800 action-packed pages at one low price.
Stephen England is the author of the bestselling Shadow Warriors thrillers, including Amazon's #1 Bestselling Political Thriller, Pandora's Grave, and its long-awaited sequel, Day of Reckoning--a novel hailed as "the perfect spy thriller for our time--chaotic, cynical, with only a few good men keeping the barbarians from the gate."
Drawing upon nearly a decade of research into the nature of Islam, the Middle East, espionage and counterterrorism operations, England's work has drawn praise for breathing new life into the genre with the hard-edged, unsparing realism of his portrayal of the war on terror, the people who wage it, and the moral and psychological costs exacted of those who take the war to the enemy where he lives. "Soldiers without uniforms. Fighting a war without end. Shadow warriors. . ."
The short stories NIGHTSHADE and TALISMAN round out the Shadow Warriors series, and England's work also includes the stand-alone historical adventure novel, Sword of Neamha.
An excellent read. There was a lot of moving parts, requiring close attention to details. Deception and betrayals the order of the day. The overarching theme too real.
Started out OK, but then got interminably LOOONNGGGG ...
... and repetitive and boring and endless. Ugh! Yes, definitely read the 1st book, but do NOT get suckered into Books #2 or #3 ... they just go on and on and on and on, until the last few dozen pages of Book #3, which finally picks up with new action, rising from the murk from the previous book and a half. I am now in the position of thinking there are at least 6 more books to this series (and a new Prequel Trilogy), and I’d be scared of getting into them and never reading anything else good nor interesting for several more week ... no, they have moved to the bottom manure pile ...
I saw a lot of potential in this author as the story was spellbinding. The downside is there were way too many characters and none of them were well developed. The story jumps back and forth every few pages between scenes and characters and I was frequently lost as to who was what. With a bit more concentration on character development as well as a decreased in the number of characters this would be a great story.
The only weakness I found was towards the end of the third book of this set. There was too much repetitious referral to the main character's conflicted feelings about the role he has played and how he has lived it out. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this trilogy.
Stephen England does a great job of story telling. I liked the location changes and multiple threads in the story. Too many like stories are laced with profanity this one isn't and that's a plus for me. The challenge that Harry has is the conflict between his faith and profession. Tough choices on every page. Can't wait to read more.
This series of three espionage books written by Stephen England was very good. It was mostly a fast read, but parts were slow, esp in Embrace the Fire. The characters were real & struggled with the after effects their work had on their lives the It was current & frightening that this could really happen. I could not give 5 stars because of the slow parts.
Just a few of the many adjectives I could ascribe to this trilogy. Some of the best writing I have encountered in a long time. If you like thrillers, DON’T MISS THESE BOOKS! These books are great!
The Shadow Warriors box set contains first three fast-paced action packed books written by Stephen England. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.
First book was great. Second was also. But the 3rd was descent into hell...The unraveling of someone's psyche as though once they got into raw feelings they were compelled to write into increasingly naked hate and evil.
A well written series with interesting characters. The varied plots and low are realistic and plausible. Our main character is another sad emotionally wrecked assassin, which seems to be the norm with all these types of characters...
For fans of the epsionage + action fiction genre. Great plot with twists at every turn through these three books. Can't wait to read the next one in the series.
Harry is a well developed complex imperfect main character who is perfectly created. The books actually improve in the series. Last one being best. Some predictable twists, but some not. Not just a superficial story line either. I hope there is a fourth!!!
Fast paced and keeps.the reader intrigued Takes from the reality of the world we live in today and paints a story that will keep you reading to the very end
