What I liked: I liked Shane(H). He was such a sweet and loving hero and made sure Beth(h) knew she was the woman he loves and wants. I also liked the ow drama from the ex fiancée.

What I didn’t like: I wished someone would have read the book and let the author know how much repetition it has…example in one chapter, Beth tells Shane that she wants to get married soon because of the baby and how about the following Saturday after his parents come home, the next chapter Shane is telling Beth that his parents are coming home and they will get married the following Saturday. This happens a lot…..like how many times do we need to read about the wedding and his parents coming home.

***Major Spoilers/ Details/Triggers: OW drama. I believe this is either the second book or third book for this couple (did not read the others). H and h are already together and are engaged to be married. h is out with her friends having an impromptu bachelorette party. H’s ex girlfriend shows up and tries talking to the h when she is in the bathroom. h keeps it short. Later, ow comes up to their table and tells the h that if she didn’t break off the engagement with the H that he would be with her. That if she wanted him back all she had to do was tell the H and he would come back to her. h didn’t know that H and ow was engaged. h has low self esteem and her not knowing makes her upset and insecure. h wanting to leave, goes to the H’s brothers place where the H is. H knows that something is bothering the h and takes her to a room to talk. h tells the H about the ow and what she said. She asked him why he never told her about the engagement and he told her he didn’t think it mattered and that he was the one that ended the engagement. He reassures the h that he only wants her and that he wants them to get married sooner rather than later. If you have read the other books you know that the h has a bodyguard with her who is also a close friend and another one that lives with the H and h, which she thinks of as a father. Also, the H’s sister watches over her when she is around. The sister is now watching over her boyfriend who is a rockstar. The ow starts sending the h pictures of her and the H when they were together. Ow also comes to the bookstore that the h owns and tries to start stuff but she is removed from the store. H tells h that he will deal with the ow but h tells him not too. H tells the bodyguard/friend that ow is not allowed at the store and if she does show up to remove her and call him. While all this is happening the H is reassuring the h he wants just her and that he wants the wedding soon and that he knows she wants a small wedding. h agrees and they go to pick out wedding bands. Later while h is at lunch with the group of friends, she calls the H to see if he wants to eat lunch with them. H’s phone goes straight to voicemail. When she calls his secretary she tells the h that he is out. A little later the h gets a couple of pictures sent to her of the H with ow with them kissing and H with his hands all over the ow. H has a bag in his hand from the place they got their wedding bands from so h knows that the pictures are recent. h gets sick and H’s sister tells her that they must be fake. h goes to the H’s brother. H goes to the h and tells her that the two of the pictures are real but the others are not him. H tells her that he went to pick up the rings and that the ow was there, she grabbed him and kissed him. H pushed her off and left. h is upset and again is insecure, tells H that she wants to stay the night with the brother. H goes to prove that the pictures aren’t him. They find out that it is a different guy that is in the picture and not the H. h feels bad about doubting him but all is well again with them. While h is out with their friends a car tries running her over. Her bodyguard pushes her out of the way and he gets hit instead. The sister gets the guy who hit him. At the hospital h finds out she is pregnant. The bodyguard has a broken leg and some brain swelling/bleeding. H and h go home and they are both shocked but happy about the pregnancy. H finds out that the hit wasn’t accidental but deliberate because he had a picture of the h in his wallet. They believe the ow is the one who had the guy try and hit the h. H sets up a meeting with ow to get her to confess with the h’s brother listening in. Ow denies at first but lets it slip that she was behind the hit and run. Ow gets arrested. H goes to the h and shows her the video of the meeting. HEA with them getting married and bread crumbs for the next book.

Descriptive Sex: Yes

Final thoughts: This was my first time reading this author. I will probably go back and read the sister’s book just because I like rockstar romances. Hopefully there is less repetition in that book.

It has been quite some times since I have been in the McIntyre Security Bodyguard fictional world, and what better couple to welcome me back into the fold but the couple that April Wilson chose to start us on this amazingly suspenseful and sensual journey with Vulnerable. It wasn't long and I felt wrapped up in the embrace of Shane and Beth and ready to see how all the sexiness and action would play out in their newest book Shattered. I cannot tell you how happy I was to be back in the McIntyre family watching these hot siblings protect those that they love and grapple with one another in the boxing ring during training. April has me completely besotted with each of them and with every new story I am left even more so.

Shane McIntyre is sexy as always in his steadfast loyalty to Beth and his quiet over protective ways. He causes all the chills when his alpha male comes out to play when he thinks any of his loved ones are in danger..especially Beth! I can't help fallen more madly in love with him every time April takes readers deeper into his and Beth's story. I will never tire of him and I will always have a special place in my heart for this hero and his all consuming ways.

Beth Jamison is her usual gentle soul who has been traumatized in her past and even with the love of Shane and the rest of the McIntyre clan, she still lets insecurities creep in and take over. I adore seeing this amazing beautiful heroine with a heart of gold once again overcome obstacles that most of us would never dream of. Who knew that the love of an older, intense man could help her flourish in the world and learn to love more fiercely? With every dive into Beth's psyche that April takes us on I become more enamored with the tenacity and vulnerability that she shows. She is such a complex and fascinating character that I am always left begging for more time with this amazing heroine.

April Wilson always grips me with these beautiful characters and leaves me wanting more stories about each one of them, no matter how many times we meet. I cannot wait to read about Jamie and get more time with this blind yet very insightful character who is just as bad ass as the rest of the McIntyre's. April moves me with her story telling skills and draws me into this intense world waiting breathlessly for more sexy times or danger that lurks around every corner.

I have loved this serious from the time I read the very first word in Book 1 - Vulnerable. April Wilson brings to life all the characters with her detailed description of their appearance and personalities. And her book covers, to ME, accurately depicts what I think Beth, Shane and Lia's characters would look like in real life, which only makes the stories even more believable and real. I got lost in the story of each book and THAT is exactly what a good author should strive for each and every time. Shattered did all that and more. I simply couldn't put the book down and I was irritated that I couldn't stay awake last night to finish it. But alas, I did finish it this morning and now I sit here again, anxiously awaiting the release of Book 5. I have over 1100 books stored on my Cloud and on my Kindle, with various subject matters and very talented authors, from all walks of life. April Wilson's level of writing raises the bar tremendously and she has quickly become my all time favorite author. If you're looking for a series that will make your heart flutter and take you away from it all while you get lost in the story, then get the McIntyre Security Body Guard Series by April Wilson.

April is one of those authors who you don't care how long you have to wait to read a new book from as you know they are worth waiting for. This was a fantastic story that from the first few pages had my attention to the point that when I had to put the book down I kept looking at the clock to see how long before could put baby to bed so could finish reading.

This is a continuation of Shane and Beth's story. Shane is seriously one of the best book boyfriends. He is caring and protective and reassures Beth when she needs it. Beth is deliciously happy but still at times suffers with doubts about herself and her value to Shane especially when an infamous ex stirs things for the happy couple. I wished Beth had more faith in Shane but the situation looks pretty damning and Shane has the patience of a saint.
The gang are back, Lila and Jonah, along with stories for future books, Cooper and Sam, the scene is set for a future with complications. Molly and Shane's blind brother who are neighbors.
There is friendship and support and humor. A great book.

Wow

So much craziness. Like seriously his ex has lost her ever loving Mind. I don’t understand those who feel they have a proprietary hold on others. That’s not how life works lol. Loved the book. Moldy didn’t like how insecure Beth still is but with her issues I guess it’s not far fetched. And Luciana just played it up. But for someone who was getting married soon you would think she would have better footing. But I do get being so upset about the photos. Wow she is a real wAck job to do tot hat trouble. Omg cooper and Sam!!! I can’t even contain the sigh. Who cares about the age difference. But poor Sam. You can see he is head over heels and cooper is so stand-offish. I can’t wait to learn why. It makes me mad at cooper at times but then you see the real him when he dotes on Beth and the guys. And the. Poor Sam when he is hurt. He never leaves his side at the hospital. That scene at sams bedside. Wow. I really felt for Sam at the wedding. It was hit clenching. And he is totally right. He should have someone who wants to claim him. But I also get cooper not being of the same mind either. Ugh just sucks all around. I wanted to cry with his get away.

This is the fourth book in the series, and the third book about Shane and Beth. I never tire of reading about them. I wish we had more series like this : interloping books about our favorite couples in-between books about new characters.

In this book, Shane and Beth are planning their wedding, and all seems to be well but Luciana, Shane’s ex girlfriend, is determined to separate the couple, and what better method to reach her goal than to harass Beth ?

I love Beth but she is a little too weak at times, I wish we saw her growing into a more mature woman. I understand that she already came a long way from the anxiety-ridden girl we met in the first book, but I didn’t like it so much how she doubted Shane when it was obvious there was something wrong.

Shane has my heart as always, I love how protective he is of Beth, how sweet he is with her and patient, and *sigh* I just love him and his crazy family.

Well, I’ve fallen totally in love with the big McIntyre family. Four burly men and three beautiful women plus mom and dad. The adventures are captivating and the way they all band together to solve problems is a beautiful fantasy — yes, I know it’s fiction.

Yes to everything this book is!

I loved all the previous books and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. It's everything you expect and more! It wouldn't be Beth and Shane without drama and all I can say is b*tches be crazy! I loved the glimpses of the other characters lives and what we should be expecting in future books. The ending! I'm so excited to see how that plays out!

As news of Shane and Beth’s engagement hits the street, his ex decides Shane’s made a mistake and is willing to share her thoughts. Also, Cooper’s secret is discovered. Unfortunately, the best thing this reader can say about this outing is that it ends! By the 20% mark I was completely over the much too ridiculously immature Beth, the poetic license and OMG the repetition! It’s like a draft or something.

Another excellent instalment in Wilson's McIntyre series. She never disappoints and this time she has delivered a gem of a story following her two main characters, Beth and Shane, in their next chapter. After the events of Vulnerable and Fearless, the happy couple are planning the wedding but an old flame from Shane's past tries to drive them apart and threaten their happy ever after.

I absolutely love the cast of characters Wilson creates, not just the beautiful fragile Beth and her staggeringly hot alpha protector Shane but the whole McIntyre brood. Shane's little sister Lia, the bad ass bodyguard and her soul mate, rock star Jonah are back being adorable following their story in Broken, along with Shane's other sibling Jamie (whose book is next and I absolutely cannot wait for) and others. But my personal favourite thing about this book was the beginnings of the emerging m/m romance beween Beth's young bodyguard Sam and the brooding older Cooper who is Shane's best friend and designated "adoptive father" to the group. I just cannot get enough of them two but we have to wait for the conclusion of their story in the book after next.

Overall this is a lovely little bridge story in the series, it ties up some loose ends from Beth and Shane's story and leaves you panting for more for the next two books. If you want straight up, intense, feel good romance with hot guys to run away to for a few hours then I cannot recommend these strongly enough. Give them a go!

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow wow woo April you did it again! So with Howard Kline gone you would think it would be plain sailing for Shane & Beth but no roll up Luciana, Shane's pysco ex, she's now coming for Beth! Beth spots her bodyguard Sam and Cooper in a passionate clinch and is thrilled for them but Cooper is struggling and doesn't want to come out to everyone! Sam saves Beth life with serious consequences for himself! There is some exciting surprise news for Shane & Beth. So excited for Jamie's book next and Coopers after that! Keep writing amazing stuff April x

This book is unnecessary. I feel like it’s there to:
Give unnecessary drama
Set up the pregnancy
Marry off the couple
Set up Molly and Jamie some more
Set up and force Sam and Cooper together

But theres too many characters for this series, so many characters get over looked or fall off the pages. They come for convince only, and sometimes it’s only in name. Why Beth’s bff, Gabrielle, takes the biggest boot off the pages is beyond me. And why do we finally get more of Shane’s parents!? I was thinking in the first two books that maybe they were dead- for the most part.

And Beth bothered me a lot with her faith and trust in Shane at this point. This is their third book- why did we need this drama to make her think Mr. Needy & Overkill protective Bossy fiancé, Shane, was making out with his ex who he clearly stated he wanted nothing to do with that nutjob?

Also, why was Beth’s schooling all but forgotten accept close to 70% of the book then boom, let’s add her doing homework. When does this chick have time to go to school!? She’s too busy: having breakfast, throwing up, crying, at work, having lunch with her friends, traipsing all over Chicago, in the penthouse, getting injured, being stalked... running away for a night bc she’s being ridiculous about something she should know isn’t true, and having loads of sex. Come on! How can her schooling be something that fell between the cracks of the story!?

If you have not been reading, the McIntyre Security Bodyguard Series, I suggest you do. It will help with some of the characters’ names and references as the story moves along. Otherwise, at times you will be trying to figure out what’s going on. As with the friends at her bachelorette party. It took me a hot minute to figure out who, Gina and, Gabrielle are. At the nightclub where they went to go dancing. Making me wonder how good a friend as is, Gabrielle is since she knows her, Beth the best. With her high anxiety, her hate for crowds, and she doesn't dance it just seems odd.

Imagine her shock when she is once again confronted by, Shane’s ex, Luciana Morelli. She went off on, Beth saying when Shane gets tired of his little toy, he’ll come back to her. Then, she made fun of, Beth’s ring compared to the engagement ring, Shane gave, Luciana, that she still wears. Then, she shows the ring to, Beth. Poor, Beth tries not to flinch, or change expressions, but it guts her. Shane said they dated he never, ever said they were engaged. If he had she could have been prepared with comebacks or something, anything other than pure shock and all-out hurt and betrayal. Omission same as a lie.

But, it appears that Beth has become public enemy number one on, Luciana’s list. She wants to unnerve, gaslight, and even eliminate, Beth. With all indicators pointing back to her getting, Shane back. But, when her intended victim is, not who gets hurt the most, but someone close to her. The gloves are off. This is such a touchy-feely book. I ended up feeling tears before, I realized it was happening in several places.

I didn’t think I could ever feel this for Cooper's character, but I’m disappointed in, Cooper. He deserved the morning after feeling, that feeling of rejection is, how his partner has been feeling. Being someone’s dirty secret is not cool.

Still, let me just say this book doesn’t make me like, Gabrielle or, Tyler any better. To tell you the truth by the end of this book I am heartbroken for Sam. But, he is a hero, twice over. Loved this book.

I liked it but...

This was another great addition to the McIntyre Security series if you take it as an ensemble novel. The tension between Cooper and Sam for example has me gagging for their book next. That said, if taken as a Shane and Beth’s story, I’m finding Beth increasingly immature and a little annoying as the books progress. I liked her in Book 1 but by Books 2 and 2.5, she had become a little too childlike and “young”- my assumption is that by this point in the books she’s a 25-year old woman but she often skews 18-ish.

The premise of this is that as Shane and Beth prepare for their wedding, Shane’s ex develops a vendetta against Beth and is determined to break them apart. There are also a lot of story development set up bits going on for Molly and Jamie’s romance (which I believe is the next book) and for Cooper and Sam’s romance (which I believe is the book after that). I found these story development nuggets more interesting than the main story of this particular book.

I found some inconsistencies with certain things in the book- like sometimes there were continuity issues where things would be written a second time different from how they were written in an earlier chapter, and also I think the love scenes were a little too repetitive. That said, I do like this author’s storytelling. She makes it difficult to put down and I’m finding her books inclusive in terms of disability and in terms of sexuality even though not yet in terms of race. I’m still massively invested in this family even though I’m not madly in love with every book.

Brilliant but loads of mistakes, spelling and plot errors.

Aaaaargh!!!! This book seriously could have been/ should have been amazing! But it isn’t because of stupid mistakes!
In the very first book Shane is looking at Beth asleep in his bed, and feeling things he’s never felt before, as he’s never had a woman stay in his place. He’s never had a relationship that has gone beyond seeing them in hotels, their places and having sex. So Beth bumps into Lucianna who is Shane’s ex. She tells Beth that her and Shane were engaged!! Erm what?????
It just ruins it. Shane’s whole character before Beth is single, eligible bachelor who has never come close to having a proper relationship.
Ok, moving on. Spelling mistakes, lots and lots of them, missing words and wrong words.
Having said all of that, I still loved this book and I love their characters. Beth in particular has really grown on me. As she’s become more confident in herself and her abilities, instead of the meek shy unconfident woman she was. I’d really have liked to have had done if Shane’s thoughts about everything. As we did in the previous two books.
Worth reading? YES.
Just don’t question some of the plot lines as it ruins it.

if you loved book 1 and 2 you will enjoy this one.

In this book the crazy ex of Shane is out to destroy him and Beth.
I admit I did like it but at times Beth annoyed me at her mistrust for Shane. She loves him so much and yet she almost believes in some of the things lucianna tells him.

Its a HEA/HFN.
Book 7: called Hostage that centers around a roadtrip Beth and Shane take is coming out Summer 2018 according to her website!!! I can't wait.

brittle Beth

This is not a comment on the quality of the writing. April Wilson weaves an intriguing tale every time. It’s more about my frustration with the main character Beth. I felt great empathy for her situation to start with. She has been over protected and then betrayed by her brother and best friend. She does however happily allow that to happen until she becomes aware of the extent of it. Her propensity to become over emotional and collapse however does become irritating over time. She doesn’t seem to seek therapy to deal with her trauma and just happily lets everyone else look after her because she can’t cope. She also has a propensity to never want to discuss anything that is marginally, never mind majorly distressing and this leaves everyone around her guessing what’s wrong. 😑 An anomaly mentioned in this book relates to her swimming where she was supposedly a life guard. I can’t picture it at all. I can imagine her swimming but not having the emotional fortitude to respond positively in an emergency. Besides I could never imagine Tyler or Gabrielle allowing it. Hopefully not too much of the rest of the series will be devoted to her character. 🙏🏼

Love this book. Love Shane and Beth’s third installment of their romance story. At the end of Fearless, readers learn that Shane and Beth got engaged. This book starts with Beth celebrating her engagement with some friends (an impromptu bachelorette party). While Beth and her friends are having fun, she encounters an ex girlfriend of Shane. It’s there when Beth learns that Shane was engaged before. Beth gets upset about that because Shane didn’t tell her. Later on, Shane takes Beth to his office to have lunch and talk. Shane talks to Beth about the wedding and the amount of guests. He simply asks Beth about the number of guests. Beth finally tells him that she is nervous to get married in from a lot of guests. He encourages her that it’s okay to elope but Beth doesn’t want to do that. She wants to get married with just a small amount of guests, just family and close friends. Love Shane and Beth’s third book. This book has a couple of different trials that Beth and Shane need to overcome before they are married. Worth the read

Shane & Beth have found eachother and now it’s time for their Happily Ever After, but nothing is ever that easy for Beth.
Beth’s planning their wedding but Shane’s ex just doesn’t want to let him go. She’ll stop at nothing to break them apart, including murder. But in her attempt to eliminate Beth, Sam, her bodyguard, is injured badly.
Beth survives mostly unscathed but finds out some shocking news. And finally Shane, Beth and all their loved ones get to come together and celebrate their union.
We get a glimpse of Sam and Cooper and it’s super HOT! I cannot wait for their story. As well as Jamie and Molly. She definitely has a closet full of secrets. Their are a lot more stories from this group. I love that we get to revisit with past characters and see where life is taking them. Definitely a series I will continue to follow and look forward to reading.

At this point I am emotionally invested in the overall storyline and the lives of all of the characters. I am very happy to see Beth and Shane getting married and there are a few happy surprises along the way. There was a bit that I was disappointed with though. Beth's lack of faith in Shane is one of the main things that bothered me here. He has jumped through so many hoops for her and she knows the kind of person the ex is and her lack of faith in Shane is very irritating. There was also too much retelling of previous stories. We know that these are not standalone books so its not necessary. Sam and Cooper were the most interesting thing of the story, even though they give me anxiety. I want to see them together so badly. Jamie and Molly are also very intriguing. Overall the story was good but it wasn't necessary for the series.

Beth and Shane just can't seem to catch a break. This time it comes in the firm of Shane's ex fiance. This one is only a 3 star to me because I feel it's too much Beth and Shane. There are so many other characters I want to read about. With that said I did enjoy it and it does have circumstances that will play into another Characters book. The author still manages to keep me wanting more eith each nook. I definitely recommend. This series should definitely be read in order.

Changes and growth

A good touching base story with Beth and Shane that also included some time with all the McIntyres and a few of my favorites in the series including Sam & Cooper. There is a new danger facing Beth and it is quickly shown to be one of Shane’s ex girlfriends. Some scary and inventive events take place and we see some big moments develop for the couple and for Sam. Jamie is also heavily featured in this book with a new love interest who has something heavy going on as well with her ex husband. The family dynamics and friendship dynamics were all throughout and a favorite part for me. The slumber party, immediate responses, support and humor was a delightful addition to the story.

What do I do now? Eeek

So this is the last book published so far although the writer says many books are in the works abd coming to this series. I am so invested in all of these characters it's crazy. The only thing I would say could use work is the conflicts in this series are all too easy to overcome. I also would have liked more intensity added to Shane and Beth. I mean I understand she did trust at first but she was reading kink and ge was going to spank her. Well that lead nowhere. He always treated her like glass and very tender. I would love to see some angry sex in their future. Just sayin!

It's in the details!!!

I have read April Wilson's entire McIntyre series., and they are riveting! However, I've noticed some patterns that detract from the overall series' plot. The author changes physical descriptors of characters from book to book. Some examples: Lia is 5'5" in Bk1,,then 5'2" in Bk3; several brothers change hair color or go from smooth-shaven to suddenly all sporting beards; Sam is introduced Bk2 as being in early 3O's, then in bk 4 he's 28.??? If author would be more consistent with details, I would give books solid 5's across the board! Please keep writing.
