It's not often that I love a heroine more than the hero. But that is the case with this unique story by Bijou Hunter.
Asher is very introverted and lives high up in his tower almost never leaving. When his bff moves away, he decides to venture to a restaurant his friend told him about. This is where he sees and becomes obsessed with his Roller Girl.
Junie definitely dances to the beat of her own drum. She lives her life the way she wants and doesn't care what anyone thinks. She's noticed Hitchhiker (the name given to him by her and her bff Mallory) for months at the restaurant she frequents.
Asher has never allowed anyone close to him and Junie never found anyone worth more than a few dates. These two both have to make a lot of compromises to be with each other but they also know they won't be happy if they don't.
I am always amazed by the range of characters and storylines that come from this author. I love how I always get true lol moments blended with the sweet and sexy times in her stories.
With a great cast of secondary characters and two awesome epilogues, I truly enjoyed this read. As always, I can't wait for the next.
4 1/2 stars Like with all Bijou Hunter book we get tons of funny moments but this one also add in some really great quirky ones as well. Since i discovered Bijou Hunter I have been a huge fan and with each book I have grown to love the worlds she creates more, in this one we get something a little different but still amazing.
Asher doesn't go anywhere, he stays in his penthouse and the building he owns, but when his best friend abandons him Asher decides to visit a diner his friend always raved about. When he goes to the diner Asher see's a girl on roller-skates and she turns his world around quickly becoming his obsession. Asher thinks he is fine just watching the girl till a mugger comes in and Asher is no longer ok with just watching her.
When Junie went to her diner all the regulars were there including the cute guy who kept to himself. After the mugger was taken care of Junie never would have guessed the cute guy would talk to her and though he gives her his name she quickly knows exactly who he is and agrees to a date. Asher isn't like most guys but Junie doesn't care because she isn't like most people either.
Dating Asher is like nothing she could have imagined but with all of Ashers quirks and all of her opinions it isn't easy. But both know they can't imagine living another day without the other and no matter what obstacle comes their way as long as they have each other thats all that matters.
I really liked this book, it's a great summer read, it was so fun to read. Yes Asher is different than any other hero we have gotten from Bijou but I loved him so much and he is still crazy obsessed with Junie. She is his world. June is hilarious she is one of a kind and she has no desire to please anyone. June is ok with who she is and loves life. I loved seeing the growth both Asher and Junie both go through as they fall in love. And i loved seeing all they were will to do for the other.
We also get some great sider characters. Mallory, Junies friend was the perfect side kick for Junie. Like all Bijou Hunter books we get some great epilogues which if you know me you know I love. I highly recommend this book. It was such a great read, and I never wanted to put it down. From beginning to end I was engaged and hooked enjoying being a part of this world that was created. *Thank you Bijou Hunter for this Beta/ARC read

Personal Review: An unusual love story between a rich anxious hero and a laidback rollerskater heroine
Random Ramblings: •Wow, realistic names this time…spoke too soon •This story just chucks you in •So many good lines! •Their relationship is certainly interesting
Hmm I've read way better by this author. I just couldn't warm to these characters they were a bit too eccentric for my taste. I assume they were meant to be amusing, just not for me. I skimmed a lot.
Asher Ferrer doesn't do relationships, friendship, or anything that really requires him to be close to someone even his family. When he sees Roller Girl he becomes fascinated by the girl who seems to be oblivious to everything around her. Asher decides he wants her, but his eccentric ways have him making the move he needs.
Junie noticed Asher and after a strange courtship she decides she wants to keep him. Even if that means taking him as he is but he will have to do the same for Junie. Can two opposites come together and find a happiness they would never have with someone else?
Another delightful read from Bijou Hunter. This was hilarious but are quirky and I loved the way they communicate with one another. Junie is a favorite, I thought her running around in her roller skates was a hoot and she has a friend you will hope gets a book too. Fabulous.
Rich S.O.B. by Bijou Hunter Actual Rating: 3.5 stars
Let me start by saying that this book is, at times, hysterically funny. There are some great lines in this book, to the point where it's hard for me to pick just one or two that were my favorites.
“You’re a rich prick from the north side.”
Asher’s smile widens. “I wasn’t always rich.”
“Yeah, but you were probably always a prick.”
The novel does a nice job avoiding gender stereotypes, a pitfall many romance novels fall prey to. Our heroine, Junie, is a nice change from the stereotypical romance heroine. She's not timid, not a virgin, and she's the assertive one when it comes to initiating sex. She also wears roller skates everywhere for some reason, even to places like movie theaters and restaurants.
He’s delusional if he wants me to pretend I’m a skating virgin in her mid-twenties.
If only other romance heroines shared your practicality, Junie.
Our hero, Asher, also manages to avoid some of the stereotypes for male heroes. Although he's wealthy and good looking (naturally!), he is not a womanizer and even suffers from crippling anxiety (more on this in a moment). He does assign a PI to tail the heroine to "keep her safe" at one point, but that felt more like a symptom of his anxiety issues than anything romantic.
“You boyfriend doesn’t fit into your life, and you don’t fit into his. How do you expect to make this relationship work?”
I didn't assign this more stars for a few reasons. One, I am not convinced that Asher and Junie could actually stay together and made it work. Asher has MAJOR issues with his anxiety, to the point where he he sabotages their relationship several times. Junie appears to have her own issues, although they aren't delved into as much as Asher's. (Why does she roller skate EVERYWHERE, including work and expensive restaurants? This seems like a red flag.)
Two, as a person who has dealt with anxiety and depression in the past, watching Asher struggle helplessly with his anxiety was pretty difficult at times, and not really what I was looking for when I picked up a novel with "romantic comedy" in the title. I expected something light, fluffy, and maybe sexy. (The author refers to Junie's vagina as "Mistress Beaver," so... I'll allow you to draw your own conclusions about the sexiness.)
I went into reading this novel blind. I have read everything this author has written and loved them all. This novel did not disappoint. I loved the quirky heroine Junie. I loved the story. But no one writes dialogue and banter like this author. I really enjoyed this novel, the loved the hero Asher had some real life issues (phobias) that he was working thru. I was sucked in from the first page to the last. I can't wait to see what this author has planned for next. What I do know is that if this author writes it I am going to be reading it and loving it.
WHAT A BOOK! You think you know what you're getting when you pick up a book written by Bijou Hunter. Broken girl rescued by a rough and ready guy with a heart of gold. Love always conquers all and the girl finds her strength, the guy finds his girl. It's never predictable but there's a comfort and familiarity in her writing. It's why I keep coming back time and again.
But, but, but here comes this book, Rich S.O.B, from the first page is different. The familiar is absent here. We are introduced to Junie and Asher in a novel, funny way. No spoilers, where's the fun in that? 😁 What follows is a great fun, clever story where Junie is the true star of the book. She sets out to free Asher from the prison of his own limitations. The way she loves and helps him is a beautiful, remarkable thing. Junie is quirky and truly lives life in a way that makes her happy. She works around others in order for the rest of the world to accept her as is. Roller skates as everyday shoes and all. Frankly, Asher is lucky to have her. I loved this book so much, that it may have become my favourite book by this author. Totally recommended.
That was such a cute ending! The author went above and beyond to finish the story giving us both of their POVs of their life in the future. However, the hero isn’t the cool kinda millionaire, he’s not a grumpy millionaire he’s a whole neurotic mess millionaire. The heroine has her own quirks but hers aren’t actually social adjustment problems like his.
It made this story very unique but it also made me seriously say “She should break up with him”. It worked out in the end with the help of therapy! Speaking of therapy, that was a banger of a prologue.
I was hooked right away. The dialogue is top notch. The plot is unique! And that ending tied everything together perfectly so I think it’s really worth a read.
These two are deliciously quirky BUT almost to the extreme. The story focused so much on their eccentricities that the plot fizzled out. A for effort with writing a different kind of rom-com but it fell flat. 3*could have been better*stars
I was in the mood for some quirky characters and that is definitely what I got.
Both the MC's were somewhat unique, I loved that the heroine wore roller skates and generally had a 'I don't care what anyone thinks' attitude. She would cause comedic scenes in public and then continue on like nothing happened. I also really enjoyed the dialogue we got with her and Mallory, I love reading witty back and forth conversations, where the characters will say something or talk about something absolutely ludicrous with a perfectly composed straight face.
I actually didn't like Asher as much as I did the heroine, I too have anxiety and don't want to, and don't, leave my house as much as the average person, I could relate but I guess I was just a bit disappointed he didn't make as much effort to change for Junie, as much as she changed for him.
Don't read this if you want something smutty because although sex and sexual things were openly unashamedly discussed In casual conversation, the actual sex scenes weren't detailed in the slightest.
The ending/epilogue got me super excited, I've complained in reviews before that there's this perception that romances have to end with the creation of babies for it to be a HEA, so I was super excited when it was declared that babies wasn't for them, my excitement diminished a smidgen when they chose to foster and adopt, but I'm still chuffed that it was something different to a normal pregnancy and newborn babies ending. Theres nothing wrong with 'traditional' and I'll enjoy it sometimes, but it's not always fitting to the characters, authors just 'make it so' even when the characters haven't shown a maternal/paternal characteristic throughout their story, I felt this way about Asher and Junie, a 'traditional' ending wasn't for them.
Although I don't regret reading this, it was interesting and the characters were different, the romance wasn't my vibe, this was very much a 'real relationship' type romance, I didn't find it as intense or butterflies in my tummy igniting as other romances I've read, considering the wonderfully weird characters, the romance was pretty normal and unexciting.
It was completely safe, the heroes previous sex life was mentioned, he admits when asked by Junie, that he met with a girl once a month (I think) in a hotel room and had unemotional detached sex with her, when Junie suggests she was a prostitute he states that she wasn't but she wanted him and would have taken anything she could get whilst he made it clear he wasn't interested. Junie's history isn't touched upon as much, but she makes it clear she was no virgin and had more experience than our heroines usually have in books these days, thank god. No OW/OM at all apart from the discussion they had which I mentioned above, no cheating, I really don't like writing safety because my memory is shocking and I will likely forget something but there was nothing that offended me, overall it was a sweet love story, there wasn't push/pull per se but they did have struggles being together which was pretty much the premise of the book, low/no angst and a HEA with detailed, semi long epilogue.

Bijou Hunter does it again !!!!
Hilariously funny read.
This is not her regular alpha male style biker story, but it is so so good Asher and Junie make a great couple and people have referred to Junie as quirky I am going to call it as it is she is absolutely nuts lol
I really enjoyed this story it really well paced that keeps you entertained and with Junie side kick, Mallory you cant help but laugh out loud at the pair of them. Asher is such a sweet guy with his issues but with the help of the nutter Junie he comes out of his shell and learns to live together sorting through their issues.
Bijou hunter has a great way of story writing that keeps you so hooked from page one I have never read a book of her's that I have not enjoyed this one was no exception I thoroughly enjoyed it. So with one nutty Junie, one side kick Mallory with a hunky Asher and an episode with a pineapple along with roller skates.......... can you really pass up on this fun read?
I received an arc from the author for a honest review.
4 1/2 stars
As usual Bijou has come up with some great main characters that are not a part of what some might call "normal" everyday life as we see it but I can't help but wonder if we're not all this way to varying degrees. This story is about Asher and Junie, two characters who should not work together but they are do wonderfully quirky they do. I loved both Junie's sense of humour and her willingness to see past Asher's fears and accept him while pushing him to try certain things. I love how obsessed Asher becomes about Junie and how much he loves her and even though he is afraid of the outside world, he pushes himself because of his love for Junie. I can see myself re-reading this story just out of sheer enjoyment.
I've had to think on what to say when it comes to this newest book by Bijou. She has captured so clearly how difficult it is to live with Anxiety with this story. Like Asher, I to suffer extreme anxiety, so I have been able relate to every part of his character, in a way to much. This made for a difficult read, where stops and starts were needed, as some parts related to deeply. Having said that, it's my issue and in no way reflected on the author or storyline. I love Bijou's writing and never miss a chance to dig in with each new release. You've done a great job with this one, in my case to great a job.
This was hilarious, and a bit outrageous...very chicklit with dual POV. The neurotic app millionaire vs blunt tech who rollerskates everywhere. yeah, she could have been fleshed out a bit with introspection and motivations.. But, it's hilarious. A lot of books are touted as funny, but are; canned laughter, American sitcom, I'm cringing inside. The Female lead, in IRL, I'd think she's trying way too hard, but as a main character, the absurdity works. Her bbf/sidekick as third-wheel isn't resolved well. Unfortunately, I think it's a stand alone. (also wondering if the title was picked out of a hat, or they'd already designed the covers but put the wrong book inside).
These two are both quite quirky in their own ways. He is a recluse and she always wears roller skates. I find them eccentric. At times, they were cute. I really did not find myself connecting to either of these characters or to this story, as much as I would have liked. The best part of this book for me were the epilogues. I love her epilogues! Overall, this was just an okay read for me.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Once again Ms Hunter gets 5 stars from me, I really enjoy this authors work.
This is a little different than her other work but still keeps you gripped till the end. The main characters are both living with difficult issues but Bijou still manages to bring in her usual humour and just the right amount of drama.
These are my two my favorite Bijou characters ever! I love her quirkies in general, but there was something really special about the interaction between Asher and Junie. They're exceptionally vivid, and their relationship is incredibly sweet and understanding in spite of their issues. Oddly, for such extreme characters, they felt very real. Very solid. Beautiful work.
I don't know how to describe this one. It uniquely weird characters kept me reading but I can't really say it a romance I particularly connected with. There is an HEA. There is snappy dialogue. There is a weird dynamic between the H & h.
Like most of this author's books I laughed out loud many times. I enjoyed learning about the characters and they made me laugh a lot. The plot was well done, but I was missing something. Maybe it was the secondary characters weren't that strong in the plot. Still a good read.
Totally a GREAT read could not put this book down. It made cry made me laugh made me fall in love right alongside Asher & Junie! Bijou hasn't disappointed me yet with her books I love her writing style. Enjoy and Happy Reading!
Love humor and this is full of it. I couldn't put it down. These two are perfect for each other. I did wish they had 1 child though. And I hope Mallory might get a story as well.
