Protected By the Mountain Wolf (Mountain Wolf Protectors #1)

Amara's life changed the moment she was attacked by a group of wolves. She was only 15 at the time, who could blame her for ignoring her grandfather's warnings? She quickly began to believe all those stories he told her about the wolves who protected their town, Strathford. The wolves who could turn into humans. Shifters, as she learned they were called.

Ten years had passed since then, and Nova still couldn't forgive himself for letting the Valley Clan slip into their territory unnoticed. If only he had been there in time. Since that day, he made a vow to himself to protect her, no matter what happens. Though he didn't personally know Amara, he felt a connection to her after watching over her all these years. With his curiosity growing each day, he finally decided to visit her at work. He'd talk to her for an hour, settle his curiosity and then never speak to her again. Or so he thought...

Adored by the Mountain Wolf (Mountain Wolf Protectors #2)

Two weeks after she started living on the Compound - the home of the Mountain Wolves - Amara was getting anxious to return to her life. She had a job, friends and family to return to. Not only that, she had to make sure her sister was safe from her psychopath boyfriend, Kal. If only she could tell Sadie the truth, that he was the wolf shifter who wreaked havoc on Strathford for all these years.

As much as he wanted to protect her, Nova knew that he couldn't keep Amara from her life forever. He and the Mountain Wolves have been vigilant in the fight against the Valley Clan, but they begin to lose their footing as the attacks increase in frequency. When Nova is reminded he has to protect his pack he has no choice but to bring Amara with him, for her safety.

Mated to the Mountain Wolf (Mountain Wolf Protectors #3)

Weeks after the war between the Mountain and Valley clans ended, resulting in Kal's capture, things were finally starting to get back to normal for Amara. Well, as normal as they could be in preparation to marry a wolf shifter. Before Nova and Amara they could officially be considered mates, there were a series of trials that needed to be passed. And if she were honest, the thought of failing scared her more than anything. To make matters worse, her secret admirer just began to tip the scale from flattery to all out stalker.

Even after Kal was captured, and the horrors Amara had faced in her life were over, she still wasn't completely safe. And that's what angered Nova the most. He just had to work that much harder at protecting her.

Book 4 - Married to the Mountain Wolf

When I received this ARC from the author, I was so excited to finally get to the conclusion of the Mountain Wolf series. I dropped everything and started reading it right away. Since I loved this series so much, I must admit I had very high expectations for this final installment. But I’m sad to report that it ended up being massively disappointing. Not only did it not wow me, but it also failed to entertain me.

The first half of the book bored me to tears. There was not much going on and it dragged on a bit too long that I had to skim through some pages, otherwise I might fall asleep. However, around the beginning of the second half, things seemed to pick up and I then thought perhaps this book wasn’t totally hopeless. But I was wrong. The remaining 25% of the story was a train wreck and it left me silently screaming in frustration.

The romance part was ok but nothing particularly made me go weak at the knees. Let’s just say, it wasn’t as sensual as it should have been.

**Spoiler alert!

Here are my two major problems with this book:

1. Nova gave up on his life too easily just because he thought he was going to be killed. It was a big NO! Nope, this definitely wasn’t what I expect from an alpha hero. Totally unacceptable! I hate it when the hero surrenders to his enemy and waits for his fate/death to come to him. My real hero will fight till his last breath no matter what. I was very disappointed in Nova!

As Nova glared exhausted eyes up at the cruel Alpha, he felt the first stirring of fear. Not fear that he’d die, which was probably almost certain as well, but fear of what Callahan would do to him before killing.

He wouldn’t be able to protect his love from the Valley wolves like he promised, after all. Succumbing to his fate, he closed his eyes to prepare for Callahan’s torture, hoping beyond hope that maybe Nemoy could find him in time.

Did I read it wrong? Please tell me this didn’t just happen!

2. When Amara went missing and there was some evidence of her being in serious danger, Nova and his brother and all the wolves went searching for her. But when they still couldn’t find her, his brother told Nova to take a break and have some food because they were all tired from both the battle and the search. And you know what, he was ok with that idea and then they went back to the guesthouse. They took a bite of their sandwiches and drank coffee. They even chit-chatted for a few minutes. Seriously? I was so fed up. Oh come on, his wife was in danger! It was his duty to protect and save her, but look what he was doing! Didn’t every minute he wasted mean less chance of finding her alive? Argh, I can’t believe this!

“That’s what we need to do right now; go back to the guesthouse, make some coffee, maybe eat something small, and bump heads with the others. Maybe they found more of Amara’s items for you to use the mate bond on.”

Amara’s items? Did he mean her arm, her leg, or her head? Which item did he think they would find more?

Even though their decision to get back to the guesthouse , this revelation was meaningless to me. I didn’t care about the outcome but what I did care about was how Nova responded to this situation. It was like Amara wasn’t his first priority and he didn’t take her seriously. If I were him, I wouldn’t be able to take even one bite of food. Not to mention sitting still. Gosh, I was truly upset!

This was a huge disappointment for me!

Well, I’m sorry for my rant. Perhaps it was partly my fault; I shouldn’t have expected too much from this book. Nevertheless, this is just my personal opinion. Just because it didn’t work for me, doesn’t mean it isn’t a good read. Everyone has different tastes. You may enjoy it more than I did.

Mountain Wolf Protectors series
Emilia Hartley

This is a series with the Mountain Wolf pack. All these stories are about how Amara and Nova will meet and how they will come together to the end. They are the main characters throughout this particular series. I loved this series. It made me laugh, cry, get angry and maybe cuss a little. But it will definitely have a happy ending that everyone was waiting for.

What a great series. I just loved it. It was suspenseful, exciting, fun, enjoyable and so much more. It only gets better as it goes along and is very well written. It is one of those you just can't put down. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily reviewed it.

Several months ago, I had the opportunity to read book 2 of this series, not really realizing that it *was* book 2, and I was pretty confused. Once I realized that it was the second book, it made a bit more sense but Emilia Hartley’s characters of Nova and Amara definitely made me want to know more about them. Now, I have finally gotten my chance! I am always excited when a whole series is released as one volume because that means I won’t miss installments, and I can move seamlessly from one book to the next without even needing to hit my home button. I was especially glad to get a crack at the Mountain Wolf Protectors series because of my previous exposure to it. I’m no stranger to werewolf/shifter fiction, nor am I a stranger to wolf pack dynamics. So a series involving warring werewolf clans was not a surprise. I was willing to accept the notion that werewolves = in-fighting, but I would really have loved a deeper explanation of the feud beyond the rival pack Alpha is a crazy megalomaniac. What I most loved about this series was the bond between the characters and the very real sense that family, and Pack, is everything. The chemistry between Amara and Nova is off the charts and the sex scenes are hot! hot! hot! I won’t review each book separately because all four novels really are part of the larger whole and should, I believe, be read as such.

There are some typographical errors, but they were not so numerous that they detracted from my overall enjoyment of the series. The characters and setting of the novels are first rate and I look forward to reading more from this author. I do hope that she revisits this world so that we can find out if Sadie, Amara’s sister, gets her own happily ever after.

I purchased this boxed set for the wonderful stories it included. Below are reviews of the first three! The final book is also excellent, so you won't want to miss this set!

>> Reviewing “Protected by the Mountain Wolf” <<
Amara’s grandfather was fearful about her walking around in the evening. He warned her about wolves, even though Amara was sure that hunters had killed them all off when her father had been killed by a wolf 3 years earlier. But walking with her two friends tonight, she heard a howl and felt like she was being watched. Nova, on the rooftop, noticed her; but he was protecting the town as his pack had done for the past 65 years. As the girls turned a corner out of sight, Nova heard a scream and shifted into wolf form.

This was the start of the series. With fighting between rival wolf clans, Nova and his brother kept the humans safe. Even after 10 years, Nova could not forget Amara, so he went into the bar where she worked, figuring if he talked with her, he could get her out of his thoughts. Kal, the rival alpha’s son who had attacked Amara, was determined to keep causing trouble as his pack tried to take over the town. He followed Nova into the bar and noted his interest in Amara. Now he had something to use against Nova! What will that mean for Amara now?

>> Reviewing “Adored by the Mountain Wolf” <<
Amara was hidden and under the protection of the Mountain Wolf pack. She was in love with Nova, a shifter. But her little sister Sadie was dating Kal Vann, the enemy shifter in a rival pack who had tried to kill Amara several times now! Sadie wouldn’t listen to reason. And Amara, sworn to secrecy, couldn’t tell her the truth.

But Amara was tired of hiding after two weeks and asked Nova to take her back to town. Because of the attack, the town called a Council meeting. Disregarding her safety, Amara started to run the 12 blocks to the City Hall. The situation with the wolves was escalating. Kal issued a threat to Nova against Amara and Sadie who had no idea about Kal’s evil nature and was still dating him. With the war about to begin, how could they keep the town safe? How could they protect their families? And what would happen to Sadie who had no idea she was dating a psychotic killer wolf!!!

>> Reviewing “Mated to the Mountain Wolf” <<
The story picks up where a war between the Mountain and Valley Clans had ended and the evil leader, Kal Vann, was imprisoned. Now Amara and Sadie were talking about Amara’s upcoming wedding to Nova while Amara tried on her wedding gown. The date had not yet been set because the human/wolf marriage needed Pack Council approval, followed by several “trials” that would need to be completed. As Amara removed her gown, she asked Sadie if she had seen anyone near her house right before she had come over. Amara was still finding roses from an unknown source left on her porch, and they had been left there within 10 minutes of Sadie’s arrival.

Alone at home, Amara’s phone rang but the person on the other end said nothing. With the flowers and now phone calls to her unlisted number, this was freaking Amara out! And the pack trials were starting the next evening! Would they pass the difficult trials to allow them to marry? Would Amara’s stalker make his move against her? Her future was definitely in jeopardy!

This was an outstanding series that holds the reader’s interest. There is a final book includes in this set that completes the series. The characters, already familiar from the previous books, were well developed so the reader cared about what happened to each of them and knew their strengths. I found the series very enjoyable, suspenseful, and would definitely recommend it.

This is a great box set following the story of Nova and Amara, it is a collection of 4 books and I have reviewed each book individually.

Protected By the Mountain Wolf

This was a great little shifter romance, the characters were fun and enjoyable, it was an interesting perspective on how a pack would work, I enjoyed the storyline and found that it was a pleasant read and read it from start to finish in a couple of hours a great read if you have a free evening, also the book has an extra 4 books included in it, it is a great deal.
If you enjoy a fun and sweet shifter romance and enjoy getting extra books for free you will love this book.

Adored by the Mountain Wolf

This was a great little shifter romance, it is a continuation of "protected by the mountain wolf" and although you could read it on its own i would still strongly advise reading book one first. The characters are sweet and fun and the bad guys are a little nuts but it keeps everything interesting and keeps you turning the pages.
I would recommend this book to any shifter romance fans there is a little sex but nothing too raunchy, so would say its acceptable for most shifter fans.

Mated to the Mountain Wolf

Another great read in the series, this is all about the lead up to the wedding, a continuation in the love story of Amara and Nova, trials tribulations and even a stalker, this story will keep you on your toes and turning the pages. If you enjoy wolf shifters, sweet yet strong females and a mix of adventure and romance then this book is for you.
This book is an easy and enjoyable read and took me about 2-3 hours from start to finish, so if you don't have a lot of time and want a book you can read when you have couple of hours to spare, then I am sure you will enjoy this book.

Married to the Mountain Wolf

This was a great finally to the series, with several twists and turns, a great collection of characters and a wonderful plot to keep you entertained, this was a wonderful way to wrap up the series and it is nice to have an interesting and sweet end to Amara's and Novas story. If you enjoyed the other books in this series the this is a must have read. The only thing that I didn't love about this story was the overuse of surnames when talking about Nova and Amara other than that I enjoyed everything about this book. I can't wait to see what comes next from this very talented author.

I received a copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review.

>Book Review – Mountain Wolf Protector

>I am an independent reviewer. This is a box set of 4 books in the Mountain Wolf series with an HEA. Amara is a human attacked as a young girl by wolves. Nova is a wolf shifter who saved Amara years ago and now is in love with her. The series shows the prejudices between humans and other races and vice versa. As an evil wolf targets Amara, Nova will do whatever he can to protect her.

>The relationship starts out slow, eventually ending in marriage. Not all the shifters are accepting of a human mate and Amara isn’t too comfortable. There is also the added suspense of a stalker and the story is very fast paced and exciting. The character I didn’t feel a connection with was Amara’s sister. She was a bit blind and stubborn to be very likable. Both Amara and her sister seemed to accept that shifters exist without much trouble.

> This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this box 4 stars. The story is romantic, but the evil wolf seemed to have 9 lives and got to be tiring.

The Mountain Wolf Protectors is a continuing story, divided between four books. Each book does resolve the immediate conflict, but there is a looming threat that continues through each book until the conclusion of the last book. Nova and Amara's story did hold my interest throughout the series and the story is full of action and a building tension with a rival pack. The action scenes are exciting and fast-paced with plenty of detail to draw the reader in. I did wonder why the big bad wasn't dealt with when the opportunity arose, rather than that part of this tale continuing for so long and Amara's stalker, while creepy, was pretty obvious.
Amara and Nova are completely devoted to each other and the author shows this quite well in their fierce determination to defend each other. However, the intimate scenes between them felt a bit rushed and almost gratuitous.
There are a few grammatical errors scattered throughout the books, but not so many as to be a big distraction. Overall, the story is an interesting read and kept me turning pages to see where Nova and Amara's romance would go.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from the author*

This boxed set averages out to a 4.5 for me. I really enjoyed the world Hartley created and the people I got from it, and though some were more favorable, it overall left me feeling pretty good. It started in a small down, when a young girl and her two friends were attacked by opposing members of another pack. The one protecting said town came to the rescue, despite pack laws, and from there, a love story was born. I adored the couple, Nova and Amara. They were easy to like and still had their own stubborn streaks, but I think my favorite part about all this is getting a love story with a ton of other great things to add to it, like the laws for secrecy, the anti-human pack members, the crazy people that seemed to come from everywhere.... it was great. I'm a little sad to see it end but it's a recommend for all you paranormal lovers out there.

Are you looking for books with everything? This series will give you that and a great deal more. Characters here are very well developed and their individual stories pack a punch that will have you wanting even more. There is drama, suspense, and of course the romance that will heat up the pages to your hearts content. I read this Advanced Review Copy and received more than I expected. You just have to read for yourself as this is as much as I’ll divulge without going into spoiler alerts. Also, content is definitely for adults. The hot flashes alone will have your fanning yourself more than not so definitely for the 18+. Kudos to Hartley once again for providing stories with substance to entertain.

Also, you can get these individually, but why do that when you can get the whole box set and read straight through without waiting for the next book in line?

In the middle of all this you have Amara, a human that lives in the village, and Nova the beta from the mountain wolves... When Kal, the Alpha's son of the Valley Clan, attacks Amanda Nova steps in to protect her...

I know the set of books got a really good five star rating. I read the first book was kind of disappointed because it was a series of books so you had to read the other books figure out what happened and I didn't care for that. Started on the second one I just couldn't get into it so I dried the few other ones and just couldn't get into those either another book maybe good may just be me I've been reading a lot so far this summer so maybe it's just me and I can't get into anything right now. Mandy Roth seems to be my author a choice right now and I read all of her so nothing is interesting me at this time so don't go by my writing try the book for yourself. 😁😜

So this review is for the 4th book. I liked how everything worked out but some things irritated me. How easily Nova gave up at times. I would have thought he would have fought harder to live and be with Amara. Amara still got on my nerves about the whole not telling her sister at first. Ugh...i just couldnt seem to let that go. And the whole plot with her friend...which could be seen from a mile away but Amara....no...she is as blind as a bat. And she is supposed to make this amazing police officer. She couldnt even see her crazy ass friend coming. Anyway...still a good read...drawn out but a good read.

Ok, I guess

I was excited to get to sit down to read this set of shifter stories. However, I was disappointed in the lack of editing that I came across throughout these stories. Even the novella while having an interesting story line the amount of misplaced and misspelled words were simply aggravating. I found it annoying to continually adjust or change the words in my head to get the sentences to flow like I would think the author initially had planned them to. I finished reading them though and would like to see this set edited as it would be a good read on a cold, rainy winter day.

Ok

Instead thru th mountain wolf protectors series of was a good series sometimes it was predictable but overall good. However, there was no way I was reading the other series that were bonuses right now maybe at a later date but I don't have 30 hrs to spend reading and by the time I would have finished i probably would have forgotten what the original series was about. You shouldn't cram all this stuff together like that.

Good stories but...

I really enjoyed the story lines and the somewhat touch or originality they carried in them. Not your cookie cutter stuff completely. But the copious amount of typos made them all difficult to interpret and read at times and I often found myself wondering what the author really meant. All ebooks are prone to a typo or two but these stories were all riddled with them.

So much more than expected!

Not only are the 4 Protector book there, but also several others and a novella. Each are very good, there are some misspelling, repeated words, or missing words, but not enough to bother me. I enjoyed each one and the way each new book picked up the last. Characters are great! Thanks Emilia!

Must Read!

I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series. I'm usually not a fan of a continual LOVE story with the same two main characters, but these books were an awesome read. I had to binge read all of them. Couldn't put down my tablet! There are some books that I would go back and re-read time and again and this is on that list.

Insurgents

Small parties of wolves keep making attacks on the mountain wolves protected town, hurting and killing people. Fear provoked the town to kill off many wolves in the past, it is coming closer to happening again. Resilient survivor and Bata wolf team up and fall for each other while trying to save the mountain pack and their secrets. Good read.

This was a fun, fast and simple read. The first three books were pretty good. The fourth completely fell flat for me. Characters were not only blind but weak. I just made me angry. Skimmed most of the fourth book just to find out how it ended.

Good

The four book series is a serial not four separate books. The stories require each other and can’t stand alone. Could have been published as one long book instead of being billed as four books. 60% of the length was other stories thrown on top of this book.

Long long long

This box set has many errors, sometimes it was hard to understand who the author meant and what she was trying to say. With that being said, I really enjoyed the book about the dragons! It was my favorite and I wanted more of their story.
