She’s at the mercy of her alien abductor…

After a vicious attack on Earth, Tara Diehl flees earth for the dubious safety of planet Parseon. A vendor in the marketplace, she’s adjusted to the male-dominated culture better than most until she’s kidnapped by Alpha Commander Marlix, one of the five rulers of the planet. At first she’s terrified of her tall, muscled abductor, especially when he doesn’t hesitate to quell her struggle for freedom with a little corporal discipline. After all her methods and ploys to escape fail, she decides to seduce her way to freedom.

But out of subterfuge grows a true intimacy that cause Marlix and Tara to take a stand that drives Parseon to the brink of a civil war, which threatens their love and their lives.

Terran, the second book in the Breeder series, is a “capture” romance involving a domineering, but hunk,y alien and a female with a bad dye job and an even worse attitude.

Marlix was the Alpha you love to hate in Breeder 1. He was all the A words as Tara said "The Aggressive, Arrogant,Autocratic, Asshole" Now we watch how this bad boy transforms into a big softy.

The book is a very good example of a Sci fi Stockholm syndrome. Marlix sees Tara, he likes Tara, he kidnaps her, she fall in love with her kidnapper etc.

I really enjoyed the book - although I still prefer the first in the series.

Some of the things that made me smile:
-Marlix feeling ashamed because he preferred girls instead of his Beta.
-Marlix preferring Tara with pink hair. He was disappointed when she tried to change the colour.
-Marlix preparing a picnic for Tara.
-Marlix laughing out loud with his sister.
-Tara swearing at Marlix and him understanding none of the insults.

I really liked Marlix..... oh well I could not help it.

I liked that both main characters grew over the story arc, but I didn't like that they did it independently of each other - I need dialogue! I need conversations that show a relationship and its intimacy. Considering the depths of the differences between Tara and Marlix, this was sorely lacking.

DNFed at ch2: the scene where a group of booted men surrounded h, cut off h's clothes with knives, kicked h till she was covered in blood and then were going to rape her - while people in the marketplace were laughing and watching - and book/H says its actually the h's fault for not taking precautions and not being okay with being forced as the women in this alien world are.
Well, F*&! you and this alien culture!!

A quick sci-fi romance. Now this is the second in the series. It's been some time since I read the first but I didn't have any problem following along with the story. This particular series is a bit rougher, meaning females are considered very far below the scale of respected members of this society. They're treated a bit rougher and the beginning chapters there is some violence. Nothing too drawn out or explicitly detailed but still present. I will admit that I liked this one. Not a lot of depth but it was still a really good book. I'm a sucker for sci-fi romances and this one had all the perks that I like to see.

Four and a half
This second book about those who live on the misogynistic planet of Parseon sees the author giving us a Terran ( human ) heroine. Tara has arrived on the planet and is determined to start a new life. Yes she knows that women are treated very differently but she has no idea just how much information has not been shared . She gets a rude and violent crash course when she's attacked but when she's rescued by Alpha Marlix the last thing Tara expects is to be kidnapped by him! Marlix is used to being obeyed, no one questions him and yet the plucky Terran female shows him no respect! Worse still is his inability to ignore her so Marlix has a plan to gorge himself on her until his interest is sated but the more time he spends with Tara the more he questions what he has always believed.
I admit after reading the first book Breeder I wasn't sure just how the author could soften up Marlix and yet I'm very impressed with his portrayal here. No there's no about face but there is plenty of growth as Marlix has an enquiring mind and allows Tara to speak and even when necessary instruct. The way women are viewed and treated under Protocol is abhorrent to me so it was an interesting idea to pit Marlix against the seemingly outrageous Tara as she's much more than she appears. Tara has remade herself after something that would devastate most women and her bright colourful shell hides a warm fierce woman. Seeing them learn about each other and finally begin to understand the depth of feelings they share made for a riveting read.
On a final note this does portray a society that actively encourages m/m pairings ( Alphas have Betas ) with females treated like slaves and only seen as breeders with discipline frequently meted out. Some readers will find the non consensual acts unpleasant and it's a far cry from BDSM so you have been warned. Unless intending to procreate physical contact is just to find relief for the male and involves back door action only so it's very much a society that is unpleasant to read about. So why did I ? Simply because the author is expanding this world she has created and turning the horror into hope. We are seeing characters grow , we are being taken on a journey with them and no there's no outright revolution on the cards but changes are not just coming but actually happening! Certainly this series is unlike any other sci fi romance availabile and I'm very interested to find out what happens next as it would seem a Beta who is not considered worthy of siring children just might go against established ideas but alas until the next book is available I will have to bide my time and look for other stories to capture my imagination as much as this one
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

I like how strong and independent Tara was, and she was eventually able to embrace her submissive side. Marlix grew on me slowly as, at first, his preconceived notions of females were quite barbaric. He was finally able to put aside his conditioning and allow himself to love Tara.
I wish there had been more explanation about Tara's

The world-building is really good. I loved the relationship progress if Marlix and Tara. This book might not be for everyone as the alien culture is very misogynistic.

Marlix is intensely jealous-possessive. This is quite safe too coz there’s no ow/om once the H meets the h.

second in the series. Good world building although I understand why some find it dark. Although I have to wonder how some can read all that mafia or motorcycle stuff and be okay with it but not this. Maybe there is no crossover in readership. So, solid world building and good character development on the whole. Believable romantic development within the setting.

This is the second book of the breeder science fiction pnr series (and as usual I read this book first) and with a name like that I should've known what to expect but usually, I don't like to judge a book by its cover, title or even read the blurb so as not to get any spoilers. I have learned my lesson.

I read Terran a while ago and didn't care for the sexist alien caveman culture of the male-dominated Parseon society. And my feelings towards this series didn't improve even after going back and reading the first book Breeder.

All the females, in this human-looking alien side of the world, are seen as a commodity to be used, abused and discarded as soon as they serve their purpose...breeding. Parseon Males are discouraged from desiring females or forming an attachment with them, instead they are encouraged to have a male companion. In Essen, the females are slaves.

To be fair, the author clearly states what to expect at the end of the cover blurb...
Terran, the second book in the Breeder sci-fi series, is a “capture” romance involving a domineering but hunky alien, a female with a bad dye job and an even worse attitude, explicit sex, anal sex, and spanking.

One thing I've learned from reading a handful of BDSM fiction (and those in the know would probably say these books are not a clear representation of the BDSM lifestyle) is that it is consensual and that there are rules and regulations e.g. safe words. Corporal punishment is not BDSM and being captured and then spanked for trying to get away is NOT BDSM. And here is a quote from the blurb to show you what i mean.

...At first she’s terrified of her tall, muscled abductor, especially when he doesn't hesitate to quell her struggle for freedom with a little corporal discipline.

Tara Diehl is a human and an independent vendor in this patriarchal society and when Alpha Marlix, one of the five powerful rulers of this society kidnaps our heroine and soon things to get predictable as these two give into their curiosity and embrace the passion. We can't let a little thing like kidnapping and sexism get in the way of romance with a big hot alien-caveman.

All the sexing awakens our hero's concious and he slowly realises that the Parseon society is unhealthy and that perhaps the Terran (human) way of relationships between males and females is better for all concerned. And so begins a revolution!

Okay, so the revolution was not a change to matriarchy but I wish it was. The book would've been infinitely more interesting if it had.

The second in the Breeder series is another winner. 3.5 stars page turn with some smexy maledom. Tara Diehl is an alien on the planet Parseon. One of the few humans allowed on this patriarchal world, she needs to constantly stay on guard. Females are just objects for men to sell, trade and abuse. If a female is lucky, they are bred and fed. Tara is an irregularity as one of the only females running her own booth in the human bazar. When she crosses paths with Marlix, it causes her no end of trouble.

Marlix is one of the more feared Alphas in this world. He's known to be ruthless and without heart. He does have a secret which would cause him to possibly lose his standing. In a world where might means right, it is dangerous for him to desire a lush female, let alone a human.

Ms. Bristol's sci-fi/fantasy (SF/F) stories really work for me. I like the world she creates and I like her characters. Her characters while alien are more human to me. The misunderstandings between the males and females is believable if a tad sad. The erotica seems to be toned down a bit in these books. It would be nice to have it kicked up a notch once in a while. The sexual tension in these books are good. The spankings and domestic discipline (DD) theme is also good and enjoyable. Ms. Bristol is creating a winning combo for me since I love both DD and SF/F. For it to be blended so well together, it's a pleasure.

After reading this book, I can't wait to read the next one. I'm eagerly awaiting to see what combination Ms. Bristol will do next and which character will be the main feature. Hopefully, there will be a bit more DD and hot ménage. Recommended for space opera fiends who enjoy a good spanking.

Terran is Marlix and Tara’s story, and starts just after the epilogue of Breeder. Marlix has a reputation of being brutal…and an asshole. He’s anointed (married) to Urazi his beta, but the two have a non-sexual, homosocial arrangement. They actually slack their needs on the DL with females, which is surprising because he was so vocal about Dak and Omra’s relationship being unnatural. Tara is from the planet Terra; a neighboring planet very similar to Earth. (if not Earth) Terrans have “Earther” ideals on couplings/society roles. (MM, MW, WW- all good… women working- OK… equal importance- check check) She owns a small fabric booth within the Bazaar Dak set up. Terrans are protected within his territory, but most Parseons hate them, and find them immoral.

Marlix finds himself majorly intrigued and attracted to her, so he kidnaps her. The rest of the book is their story. They actually have it harder than even Dak/Omra because they are not only male/female, but Tara is an alien. And, the planet is on the brink of war. New thinking vs. old thinking.

Bottom Line- Not bad, but not as great. I still enjoyed it, but it’s much the same as book 1 with a different couple... and I liked the first couple better… Tara’s a bit annoying. Next up is Anika and Urazi.

What is a pig?” Marlix consulted with Urazi. “Let me research it on the translator.” His beta tucked the bolt under his arm, unclipped his Personal Communication Device, and tapped into it. He raised his head. “A domesticated porcine mammal indigenous to the planet Terra.” “What about a jackass?” Urazi tapped and peered at his PCD. “A domesticated member of the equine family. Male.” He looked up. “I’m not sure, Commander—” His beta exhaled. “But I suspect pig and jackass are derogatory terms.”

He and Urazi shared their lives and a secret. They preferred to seek sexual release from females instead of each other. Protocol excused Urazi’s penchant for using females, as it was expected of males of a lesser status to succumb to coarse behavior. But for alphas, a Commander no less, to seek pleasure in a female was inexcusable— unless the act derived from competition, to usurp another’s property, or breeding. Protocol discouraged contact except for breeding purposes. That, and because it was unnatural and perverse.

“I can’t refute the wisdom of your suggestions,” Marlix said. He’d chosen his beta well, a male of intelligence, discernment, and loyalty. Had they been able to achieve release in each other the way nature had intended, theirs would have been the perfect anointment.

Anal sex was the norm and occurred at the whim of males with no attention paid to a female’s needs. Alphas reserved vaginal intercourse for breeding.

Commander Dak had granted his breeder tremendous leeway. He’d even severed his anointed union with his beta in support of her. That, and his gravitation toward the Terrans had made him a pariah with all but Ilian, and the votes he cast were nullified by the majority. Only his great wealth from his telenium mines and Bazaar tariffs allowed him to maintain his power.

Tara Diehl is a Terran who sells goods at the Terran bizarre she is unlike the other women of Parseon shes human and unlike the other women she isn't subject to protocol like the women of Parseon
Alpha Marlix is one of the five rulers of the planet Parseon he sees women as nothing more then tools to breed with that is until he see Tara as he is leaving the bizarre he see a group of people attacking a women he realizes it the women who sold him good at the bizarre and kidnaps her he hold her against her will and while this is going on they have sexual relations he wakes up to find blood around them he freaks out thinking he hurt her but when she asks him if their women have their menstrual cycles he is oblivious so she tells him that she has the stuff she need to help with the menstrual cycle that he has to go to the bizarre and get her bag from Ramon her friend that works with her at the bizarre she tells Marlix to take a letter to him telling him shes alright but since he cant read Terran he doesn't realize she also told Ramon to go to their embassy and tell them she was kidnapped when he realizes their is something wrong Marlix hides and watches Ramon and follows him he realizes that he needs to know what Tara wrote so he finds a beta who can read Terran and asks him to translate and when he finds out hes been made a fool of he makes the decision to go to the enclave and that is where the adventure truly begins to find out more i strongly suggest that you buy this book 5 gold stars its a must read

Terran is straight up guilty pleasure reading. If you like Sci-Fi romance with a dominate alien male (who looks like a dream come true in looks) and a spunky heroine, including the kidnapped trope where the heroine falls in love with her hot alien captor, than Terran is for you.

Cara had really good world building here, and you come to accept why Marlix, the hot alpha alien wants the Earthling heroine Tara (she has pink hair), who does put up a fight at first but then falls for Marlix because he's very protective of her. Marlix has a very different belief regarding how females are handled, as well as sexual relations. Tara ends up teaching Marlix about foreplay and all that fun stuff that leads to hot sex. Marlix is as close to a virgin male as you can get because of how his people treat sex. Marlix may come across as a dominate male with a heavy hand, but he is a big old pussy cat around Tara who he wants to claim as his own.

There is a bit of drama and suspense, which gives some more flavor to Terran other than some cheesy erotic Sci-Fi boinkfest.

An enjoyable read overall.

3.75 Stars. Fortunately, I had spoilers/knew in this culture that women had no rights before my reading began, so going in knowing this adjusted my expectations. Hero was obsessed with heroine, sometimes completely forgetting about his cultural upbringing, but not for long enough. I did NOT like the spanking the Hero gave to heroine with the one very hurtful paddle, not cool!

The story was good.
Written in 3rd Person POV, which I'm not a huge fan of, but I do like the writing style.
Compared to book 1, this is, not really boring but there were some parts of the novel that I did skip.
The story's quite exciting but it's not as packed as book 1. I was expecting more drama between the 2 main characters.

Towards the end, I was kind of waiting for a miracle, I thought Tara would get pregnant..but that didn't happen, so I was hugely disappointed.

KIDNAPPER AND HOSTAGE. REMEMBER THAT!

I am always enthralled by the Sci-fi stories that Ms. Cara Bristol spins. She has a knack for describing the planets, the inhabitants, animals, customs, and mannerisms that allow the reader to envision it all. The inhabitants of Parseon are larger than Terra and have divided the area into five main government areas, each with a High Commander. Within the various commanders, the adage about keeping your friends close and your enemies closer are prevalent. Power exchange even among commanders is evident.

On Parseon, it is a man’s world, and women are property, used and when no longer needed, discarded, placed back into the Breeder Program. With Commander Dak and his work with Terra, and establishing an exchange where those from Earth can come and set up in a bazaar and sell goods, it will add a new challenge with Terra female, who are vulnerable, especially by those who consider an unclaimed woman as fair game. When Tara, who runs Tara Textiles makes the error of leaving the safety of the bazaar and is attacked by three betas, she will be rescued by Commander Marlix will set this tale into motion.

Under the order of Protocol, which is a unique order based on rank, status, and allows Alpha men and beta men to join in a unit by anointment, it will also deem women as lesser beings. There are no marriages and women are used as breeders to procreate but not to have a relationship. It is deemed unacceptable for men to prefer women and would be questioned if the truth of some relationships were to come to light, like that between Commander Marlix, and his anointed beta, Urazi. “To desire a female was the greatest taboo imaginable.” “Females existed on the fringe of society, used—abused—by the males.”

Marlix will go from rescuing Tara from her attackers to taking her to his abode, seeking medical attention for her, and then refusing to allow her to leave, becoming her captor, and she his prisoner. When he knows that they will be looking for them, he devises a plan to disguise themselves of rank and title and to hide at the Enclave. Other secrets will come to light, and when it comes down to making planetary decisions, his vote will change, creating new enemies among those who he had before joined forces. There will be new unrest, potential civil war among the various providences, and new alliances.

The plot will have die-hard Parseon leaders questioning the order of Protocol, and realizing that maybe it is time for changes. It will not be received well by everyone but may be a new chapter for the people of Parseon. Can a Terran join with a Parseon Alpha? Tara has opened the eyes of Marlix into the physical and sexual relationship between a man and a woman. “She is the day to my night.” Problems are brewing within the high order of command and danger is lurking. The story is full of mystery, suspense, deceit, betrayal, danger, new discoveries, intense passion, especially when engaging in forbidden acts, life and death moments, and even some spankings.

The story is the second in the Breeder series and can read as a standalone. It does have many people from the first book, which also describes culture and customs.

An inspired follow-up to Breeder!
Another Alpha Commander sees the light. Marlix is on a mission to procure special fabric in the Terran section of the Marketplace. He meets colorful, bold Tara Diehl. "She's as colorful in her speech as she is in her appearance." Vehemently opposed to the way Alpha Commander Dak caters to Parseons who seek change in Protocol, Marlix reacts in an unexpected manner to his encounter with Tara. Watching the changes in attitude come over him is fascinating. Slowly, progress is made. Our colorful Tara goes through plenty of changes of her own. In the end, this could be the basis of a cultural revolution. A thrilling story with cultural beliefs desperately in need of change!

While more enjoyable than there is still a darkness in this science fiction romance than is not off set enough by character development and connection to overcome those elements for the plot for me.

I like these characters but the nature of the world keeps real intimacy from them and makes the trials less palatable.

I was given this book for my honest review. So there you have it.

Terran is the second book in the Breeder series (Breeder was the first). I've read both book and highly recommend both for so many reasons. It's not necessary to read them in order (IMO) but you do see characters from the first book pop up in the second.

First, the book is well written - as all of Cara Bristol's books are. The story is so completely romantic but also real at once. Tara, the heroine, is feisty, strong, independent and smart. Marlix is Alpha - he's absolutely hot and he is a Parseon leader. He is simply used to taking what he wants without excuses. In this case, when he sees Tara, it turns out it's Tara he wants and - in a heroic effort to heal her - he takes her. He simply picks her up, tosses her over his shoulder (yes) and carries her home with him and decides pretty much immediately that he won't be releasing her. He doesn't understand why but he just wants to keep her. I love LOVE Marlix's thought patterns, his speech, it's just straightforward, almost cave man like (while he's completely intelligent) which totally captures for me what the men of Parseon are like, what they're used to, how women fit into their lives.

One of the best parts of this book was the interaction between Marlix and Tara - the chemistry between them was incredible and just the whole 'I know what I want and I'm not apologizing for it' attitude of Marlix was pure Alpha - but tender at the same time when we got to hear what was going on in his head. And he's sexy as hell on top of it.

I can say a lot about this book. I loved it and I might even love it more than Breeder but it left some questions for me which I'm hoping will be answered in the next book - I want to know if Tara was healed and of course, I want to see what happens on Parseon. I can wait for those. I won't spoil it here but the final scene was unexpected and perfect. Actually, I'm not really done reading about Tara and Marlix so I'd very much like to see more from them in the next book in the series.

I have been anxiously awaiting this second story in the Breeder series, and it was everything I could have hoped for!

Lots of great action – two worlds colliding, alien world on the brink of a civil war…

Awesome Dominance, in the form of some very hot, Alpha’s and Beta’s.

Submission in both sexual and emotional scenes.

Pure sensuality, tender loving, hot sex, and everything in between!

The plot continued with the world of Parseon and its male led society; the interplay between the different groups; and the evolution of change brought because of the Terran culture.

The characterization was fabulous! I adored Marlix, the strong, Alpha who spoke only truths and ruled his province through unyielding authority and quick decisions. He started off as a “bad guy” who hated Terrans, had no use for women, other than breeding, and did not let his emotions hinder his decision making. He was a total badass warrior! And HOT! Oh my Lord, the man oozed testosterone, without even saying a word.

I loved Tara, the strong willed, smart, feisty, Terran shop owner, who was hurt by some Parseon males, and abducted by Marlix. She was a street smart, beautiful, head strong woman, who bowed to no man.

Their cultures clashed, and sparks flew in the best way.
I really enjoyed watching each character grow during their time together. Tara learning the beauty in submission to one man; Marlix learning the vulnerability of emotions and love.
This was much more than just a sexy, spanking, action, science fiction, romance. It was so much more!

The depth of the characters, and their growth throughout the story, reminded me yet again, why I adore Cara Bristol so much.

She is a masterful world builder and story teller.

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars.

And I will go on the record again, saying, I cannot wait for the next story!

Was it worth $4.95? No. This story started off good, but like a lot of stories out there, it too failed to live up to expectations. This story was mostly about sex. I don't have problems with that in stories but I need more to fully appreciate one. Here we meet our two lead characters and right off the bat we get a punky female and a dominate stubborn male. He kidnaps her and everything falls to the wayside. She falls in love with him, generally forgets she owns and runs a business, and starts envisioning a life with an Alpha.

I wouldn't have problems with this but for a supposedly strong female she lacks strength and is constantly crying at every turn. THAT is one of my biggest pet peeves.

By the end of this story you still lack any finality to it because the bad Alpha that killed her associate and is still not hunted down. There is zero resolve in this book. A wedding does not constitute an ending.

Anyway, it wasn't a bad book, but it lacks a great deal to make it worth the $4,95 I paid for it. My advice is to wait until it goes down to at least $3.99.

P.S. The cover is wrong. In the book Tara is constantly described with beautiful green eyes. Not the brown that the cover has on the female.

It was 4 until the Epilogue.

Since I finished the Breeder I kept thinking about this book, but with a price of almost 6 dollars for a 200 page book seemed a bit too much. Especially since I gave the first one only 3 stars. A month rolled by and I couldn't get it out of my mind so eventually I gave in. Knowing the ideology of Marlix from the first book and Tara being a Terran (from Earth) I knew this one will be good. And it was!

At some point I felt that Tara was doing the most compromise for their affair to work but after a while I could see that Marlix was risking a lot to be with her so I was happy to see both of them really invested in the relationship.

Info about the book: Marlix goes to Tara's shop to buy some fabric. Minutes after he leaves he notices men attacking her so he rescues her and takes her-against her will- to his house to recover. He forms an attachment to her so at the beginning he won't let her leave and as the time goes by Tara finally feels safe and wanted and in love. On the background we have a civil war starting that I'm assuming will escalate in the thirtd book (which I'm gonna read in a months time because of it's price)

The strange rating is because of three things
