All’s fair in love and war — and sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference.
Damian Cavallo would do anything to get Aria back — even join the Syndicate. Fresh on the heels of Aria’s rescue in Greece, he joins up with the other Syndicate leaders to take down Primo Fiore and his dangerous first-in-command, Malcolm Gatti, but Primo and Malcolm have aligned themselves with a new enemy: Stefano Anastos, notorious head of the Greek mob.
And taking down both armies won’t be easy.
Aria is still recovering from her kidnapping when she gets a call from the one person she has no choice but to love — her brother, Primo. Determined to help him in spite of everything, Aria sets in motion a series of events that may prove deadly for more than just her and Damian.
Then the violent turf war returns to New York City and Aria is forced to make an impossible choice — save the man she loves, save her brother, or sacrifice herself.

Story definitely picks up in this installment. Evil is afoot! Doesn’t matter though. Damian is on the warpath and if you’re not for him, you’re against him. If you’re against him, you’re gonna DIE!
Aria is a lucky girl! Damian will do anything to get her back! I swear family can be a person’s worst enemy! Hold on to your britches and mount up! Damian is about to burn the world!
Michelle, this was just as I expected it to be. Dangerous, suspenseful and downright sexy. Yes, he did it! Damian did it, with the help of the dangerous and sexy leaders of the syndicate. After two agonizing months of being without her and one month of physical and mental prep to get through it all, Damian and Aria have been reunited, though it’s bitter sweet. Of course trouble comes knocking shortly after their sweet reunion but it’s certainly no coincidence. As seems to be the case with the lovely syndicate women, they always seem to attract trouble or in this case seek it out. Reminds you of another syndicate lady right? Yep there are similarities with this lovely couple and the first couple who started this whole syndicate saga, none other than Nico and Angel but there are also similarities to the last couple who joined the family, Christophe and Charlotte. Yep, Aria now understands that this is no longer about choice, it’s about destiny. The lovely ladies have helped her to understand that even though she had come to that realization on her own. Though it’s difficult, she knows what needs to be done and has accepted it. With that realization they return to NY and put all plans into motion. Of course even the best laid plans can be foiled with a wild card. The wild card that is Aria Fiore. Things go sideways but at the end of it all one chapter is closed. There’s a new chapter to be started but the work is not done and war is far from over. Aria has to now heal but there is that little secret that is a part of the next chapter. How will she play her cards? Awesome Michelle, can’t wait for the final chapter.
I voluntarily accepted an advanced reader copy for my review.
Oh lawdy do I love this couple! Damian and Aria are back and you just can't put the fire out with these two! What they went through at the end of the first novel...this is going to turn into a wildfire! Damian and Aria really evolve in this book. You see a shift with both of them. Damian shows his alpha side (YES!). But he still a softie...so it makes him a sopha (get it?) Because they can be so soft but so demanding when you fall under the sleepy sofa spell. Anyways...Aria is vulnerable after her ordeal and she doesn't properly deal with it well. When things become clear to her...she gets a little reckless but it's a determined reckless (she's still new to the vengeance game) and I love it! She puts the definition of determination to a whole new level! The real, raw emotions that they have for each other and their passion...holy hell. I mean, that one scene when it's no hold bars, animalistic coupling, it's definitely the hottest fire I've been near (fan myself please!). I became very consumed with Nico and Angel when those books came out and Damian and Aria are giving me those vibes. Their love swept them up like a brush fire and now they don't want to control where that heat takes them. Because it's a fight they are committed too and the truth is that love is...well... a battlefield.
Into the fire delivers the right amount of action, betrayals, and of course the romance. Two months has gone by since the first book, and the stakes are higher than ever before. Damian promises the syndicate leaders that he wouldn't be involved with Aria, but you can't control love or fate.
He will do anything to protect her.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, Michelle did not disappoint me (not that she had before). There's still so muck at stakes for Damian to take control over the New York Syndicate, but Damian's main priority is to protect Aria.
I think we all were lead to believe that Aria had no clue about what was really going on, but once she got involved with Damian she got a front row seat. While Damian wants to keep Aria out of the mix of the syndicate but seeing all of the other men's women take it all with stride has him wondering if Aria could do the same?
Aria is left with so many mixed feelings, worry about her brother's mindset and worry about Damian. But she knew that she had to choose . . . family or love.
That ending was quite something else . . . I'll be curious to what will happens next.
I give this Five Paws, I love everything about it.
Loved the ending... I feel like it took a little while to take off but all in all I do believe the author had no choice as the story unfolded Aria needed time with the syndicate women to find her place with the organization. She accepted it and Damien the way they were and figured out where she would stand. I do wish she had killed Malcom before her brother shot her, but I get the revenge plot for the next book which I can not wait for! Again this series reminds me a lot of Angel and Nico (although they are and always will be my favorite) Aria and Damien are great together and I can't wait to see them work together to take down the rest of their enemies! And I can not WAIT! for Damien's reaction to Arias news. He did make it clear that was what he was trying for from the moment he rescued Aria from the Greeks :) Seriously ... can it be October already so I can read Through The Fire and get my answers from above and see what's next for my favorite syndicate!?!

WOW!!!! It's all I can say about Michelle St. James and her newest installment Into the Fire. This is book two in the New York Syndicate series. I have read all of her books and I can say, Damien and Aria are one of my favorites.
Damien Cavallo will stop at nothing to get Aria back after she was kidnapped from his private island in Capri. With the help of the Syndicate, Damien devises a plan to rescue her.
Aria, scared out of her mind and not knowing what is really going on. Aria thinks this is the work of her brother, Primo's right hand henchman, Malcom. Aria's brother wants to control the New York territory crime syndicate. He hates that Aria has fallen in love with Damien and sees it as the ultimate betrayal. All Aria knows for sure is that Damian will find her and kill whoever is responsible.
I don't want to give anything away. Just know that Michelle St. James is on top of her game with Into the Fire!!!
The road to getting the new Syndicate up and running in New York is full of speed bumps and potholes. The biggest 'pothole' is Aria's psycho, coldhearted brother Primo.
Before continuing with the New York takeover, Damian has to rescue Aria from her kidnappers, which include brother dearest.
Damian will do anything and everything for Aria. Now Aria needs to decide for herself how far she will go for Damian. Can she turn her back on her own brother?
This second installment of the series is just as great as the first! Maybe even more so. It was exciting and tense and even a bit heartbreaking. I love seeing Aria begin to realize her full potential as her own person and not the person her brother told her she had to be. I'm on the edge waiting for the finale! Will the New York branch of the Syndicate be complete and will Damian and Aria be the king and queen of it? I can't wait!!
This is the second book in the “New York Syndicate” series and I would recommend that it not be read as a stand-alone. There is a lot of background on the H and h that will make more sense if read in order as this book starts where Fire with Fire ended.
Into the Fire is written almost like a travel journal – we get to visit other countries while Damian and his team are trying to take control of the events that are going on. The romance, the suspense, the friendships are all in play again. While it took me a few minutes to remember who was who (because I’m old and forgetful), once the book took off it was fast paced and well developed.
I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I fully recommend this series.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The second book in this series. Just as brilliant as the first. Damien has waited two months to rescue Aria from the Anastos, Primo and Malcolm. Primo doesn't care that he agreed for his sister to be kidnapped, he thinks of her as a traitor and Aria has to come to terms with the fact that her brother betrayed her. Damien rescues Aria and he is determined to get his territory and get rid of Primo, Malcolm and Anastos. The book is a great mix of action and hot and steamy sessions between Aria and Damien. I cant wait for the third installment.
Readers are in for highs and lows in book 2 of this series about the new Syndicate jn New York. Arial continues to deal with the truth about her brother as he changes from close loving family to a dangerous enemy while his mental health deteriorates. The effect on her relationship with Damian plus the crisis of the mob war leads to a very rough rocky road.
Just love love love Michelle’s writing. She gets you fully invested in the characters. True to form, this book is full of suspense, sexy men, and strong women! Keep it going Ms. St. James. I am one of your biggest fans!
Damian has found his reason to live, Aria. Now all he has to do is get her back and regain control over the New York territory for the Syndicate. What he doesn't anticipate is the determination of Aria once he finds her.
Couldn’t believe how Primo was actually going to shoot Damian, and wanted Malcom to shoot Aria!! Glad they both ( including Cole ) survived…so now Primo is dead - but the two partners got away - still got trouble going on…!
I love all these book about the crime familys. Michelle has away with words that you can see it all playing out in your mind the way it does in the books.
This book wasn't as well-written or well-paced as the first book, relied far too much on the sex between Aria and Damian for 65% of the story, and then spent the rest of the storyline with Aria making a totally unrealistic transition. Could her feelings be credible? Definitely. Could she accomplish what she planned during an all out gang war where everyone was supposed to be keeping her safe? Highly unlikely. This author destroyed the credibility of the plot when she set out to make Aria into some bold, brave, independent heroine who actually was quite reckless, selfish, and shortsighted every time she made a move on her own. Also, the disregard for Cole as the second in command who was never fully a part of the series' story line or seemed more like a foot soldier really makes it feel like the mafia themes and tradition were too subtle at critical points. I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first book and have totally lost interest in finishing the series.
Into the fire is book 2 in the New York Syndicate. Can Not be read as a standalone. This book picks up where Fire with Fire left us. This book contains Love, Lies, betrayal and alot of action, all best qualities you'd expect in a Mob book. Aria is stuck in a situation that her brother Primo has placed her in. He agreed to have his sister kidnapped as he's under the assumption that she is a traitor. Its taken a while for Damien to rescue Aria. Aria has accepted Damien and the Syndicate. The chemistry between the two is hot!! And that ending damn Michelle i can't wait for the next book Through the fire to see how it all plays out.. Great read !!!
