SHE’S A DREAMER STUCK IN A RUT Big dreams. Tierney Chandler had ‘em. Why else would she leave her small town—and her picture perfect fiancé—behind? Nine years later, the town’s still small, her dreams are mostly still dreams, and her still-perfect ex is interested. Maybe she should ditch her daydreams and pick up right where she left off…
HE’S A DREAMER STUCK ON HER Jack Elliott is a baker, making his dreams come true one golden, flaky pie crust at a time. Years ago, he lost out on his chance with Tierney, but now she’s back—and he’s determined not to let his annoyingly perfect cousin swoop in and steal her away. Again.
TOGETHER, THEY CAN MAKE NEW DREAMS COME TRUE With a little magic potpie, some stellar kisses, and a heaping helping of blue-eyed charm, maybe—just maybe—Jack can convince Tierney that he’s the dream she’s been waiting for.
Meika Usher is a sucker for an HEA. She writes love stories laced with snark, sex, and swears. When she's not writing, she loves to travel (Amsterdam is her favorite city), scream-sing Taylor Swift in her car (All Too Well, anyone?), and get tattoos (a dozen and counting). She lives in Michigan with her two snooty cats and one scrappy little dog. Oh, and a never-ending pile of romance novels she swears she's going to read…someday.
My plan was to start this book while eating breakfast then head out for the day, but I couldn't stop reading! I just finished it and can't wait to read more of Meika Usher's books. I laughed, a lot, I cried, I fell in love, and my heart got broken. This book is everything I love in a contemporary romance.
I was recommended Meika Usher by two different romance reading friends so I knew it was a must read on my list. I am not disappointed! Meika has a lovely voice that definitely translates to fantastic dialogue between the characters. I cannot wait to read the next one in the series now!
Tierney Chandler works at a publishing company called Pencil Pushers and although it isn't the big dream that she set out to get, it is away from her hometown which keeps her away from all the gossip there. When Tierney comes back to watch her niece dance she bumps into Jack Elliot, cousin of her ex-fiance Wes.
Jack Elliot has always had a thing for Tierney but his cousin beat him to her back in high school. He's not ready to mess up the second chance he has been given. Yet he walks a fine line with his family, especially with Wes's mom who helped raise him.
Will Tierney give Jack a shot with love or will all the pressures of the small town get to them? When they each have a chance at their big dream will they take it or will love win?
This was a great romance with a pretty bumpy path to finding love.
I liked Tierney and I really understood her need to leave the small town and not want to return. Whenever she returns people make comments about her former love life and when she meets Jack again she finds herself being talked about again. She finds herself face to face with Wes and somehow is being played by others into believing she is using Jack to get back at Wes, which is not the case at all.
Jack was awesome and I really loved that he was a baker who was doing what he wanted to do but by doing so he managed to alienate most of his immediate family. I was mad at him several times for the way he accused Tierney of certain things in a way to deflect what he was going through himself. The way he treated Tierney after dinner with his dad and then after the dinner with his aunt was awful and I felt awful for Tierney.
The two of them together was so much fun when they were good and not on a bumpy patch. They had lots of excitement together and enjoyed the simplicity of things off the beaten path. Deep down I knew things would end the way I wanted them to but Jack never made things easy!!
The very ending was awesome with Jack's confession and I really hope the author writes a story with Cat in it!!
Poor Tiereny She’s a bit of clutz, Worse yet, nine years ago, she upset the wheel barrel by dropping her hometown fiancé and running off to have a career in the city…which is not working out so well.
She’s working as an editor at Pencil Pusher Publishing, but it’s not the soul satisfying job that she needed. There has been only one novel that she loves.
After a long absence, she’s returned home to celebrate her dad’s birthday only to discover the whole town, but a few. seems to hate her.
To make matters interesting, both her ex-fiancé, Wes, and his cousin, Jack, are at the party, along with former cheerleaders & other people who don’t like her. Some things don’t change. Turns out the mean girls from school, are still mean and catty as adults.
This book was a fun-packed struggle to find and keep true love. It’s not easy. But whoever said love was easy!
Ranking this book is not easy. For me it was good, but never managed to hit the great button, but it was better than a ranking of four would suggest. So I’m giving it a 4.5 and rounding up for all the fun I had reading it.
Coming back to her hometown for a visit after a not-so-successful foray in the big city, the heroine finds some things have remained the same while others have changed. Her old flame, the one she left when she chose to go away, is still of interest, but his younger cousin is even more so. The author was able to convey lightness and humor throughout the story in a convincing way. I think humor is hard to pull off in stories, but this author was able to make the tone feel light and playful most of the time. She did pull away from this when needed, like when showing the heroine’s disillusionment with her job. Sometimes, it felt like there were too many song references. I think that's a danger when used in books as all readers may not be familiar with all the songs (so may perhaps miss the context they are meant to impart). But all in all, this is a fun contemporary romance.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Tierney left her small town to follow her dreams but things did not turn out as her had hoped but returns for her father's birthday party. She runs into her ex Wes and his younger cousin Jack. They both seem interested but Jack has decided that he has to make his move now or lose her forever since his cousin Wes was able to get her the first time when it should have been him. Will she stay in town or go back to the city and will she choose Wes or Jack?

Really Enjoyable Book I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. This is a really enjoyable book and I didn’t want to put it down. “Something So Sweet” has a great, entertaining storyline and really well written, engaging characters. I really liked them. Their super chemistry and interaction kept me hooked on their story. This is a really good, must read book from Meika Usher that I enjoyed from beginning to end
This is the first book in the series and is a really sweet read. I liked both Tierney and Jack he has had a thing for her since high school but he cousin asked her out first. Now after years away Tierney is back in town and Jack wants his chance with her but how will his family take it. This was a super read and a great start to the series.
This is a very sweet (literally!) second chance at romance. The characters are very well developed and the storyline is a good one. Will Tierney end up with Jack or go back to Wes?
This is my first book by this author and I am looking forward to more.

This book is a sweet, summer romance for those who like a little salt in their sugar. It's a sort of like a middle ground between Kristan Higgins and Tawna Fenske. Sweet, salty and spicy. If you like 80's tunes, adorably gross children and snark, then this is the romance for you! I really enjoyed reading it.
The naughty rom-com you’ll enjoy every moment of. Meika Usher writes spectacularly funny dialogue and strong beta male characters who are refreshing to read.
The characters are funny, the dialogue is perfection and the feels are too real. I highly recommend reading this book as well as the rest of the series!
