The second book in the Horn duet, Vera and Sebastian's journey continues.
Set against the elegant backdrop of Geneva, Switzerland. Worlds collide when an illegal immigrant finds herself working for a wealthy American financier. What began as a dangerous and undeniable attraction to each other grows into a once-in-a-lifetime love affair in the final installment of the Horn duet.
Their journey continues…
With the shadows of their past threatening to tear them apart, Sebastian and Vera must learn to trust each other if their relationship is to survive. Can Vera prove her father’s innocence? Can Sebastian discover who wants him dead and why? Together they embark on a journey to uncover the truth. But as secrets slowly come to light, is their love strong enough to withstand the consequences?
USA Today Bestselling author P. Dangelico loves romance in all forms, furry creatures, the NY Jets (although she’s reconsidering after this season), and to while away the day at the barn (apparently she does her best thinking shoveling horse poop). What she’s not enamored with is referring to herself in the third person and social media. Although she was born in Milan Italy, she’s been Jersey Strong since she turned six.
The Horn Duet is Paola Dangelico's debut series and I was so happy to have discovered this talented author. This series was everything I want in romance : complex and engaging characters, a great storyline and the author’s beautiful writing and riveting storytelling. After the cliffhanger ending of “A million different ways”, I really anticipated this second part in Vera and Sebastian's story. This book picks up where the first one left off. Vera Sava, a young Albanian doctor on the run from her country’s authorities and Sebastian Horn, a Swiss-American banking magnate, are reunited. Vera was blackmailed and ran away to protect Sebastian’s reputation, but she lost his trust in the process. He is deeply hurt and wants to understand why she left him. His control freak habits are completely out of hands, and as a consequence, Vera feels like a prisoner.
Since he took over the bank, Sebastian has been the target of crime organizations and is in constant danger, hence his protectiveness. His controlling ways could damage their relationship, though. Vera is independent and refuses to be forced into submission by the man she loves. They enter into a battle of wills, and Sebastian’s over-the-top possessiveness is back in full force. I love this hero so much, in my mind he is the picture perfect wounded alpha hero, intense, complex and genuine. He is under an enormous amount of stress and I could understand that his emotions were all over the place. Although he loves Vera unconditionally, he is tortured by unwarranted jealousy. Salvaging their relationship will be a challenge for both of them.
I devoured this compelling and absorbing read in one sitting. There was a lot of push and pull, angst and drama in this installment, but the author did a great job of tying up all loose ends and giving me the happily ever after I wanted! Paola Dangelico has a got a fan in me, and really I can't recommend her enough. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for her readers!
An advance copy of this book was provided by the author, in exchange for an honest review.
'A Million Different Ways To Lose You' by P. Dangelico is book two in the " A Horn Novel". This continues the story of Sebastian Horn and Vera Sava from the book 'A Million Different Ways'. To truly enjoy this book you will need to have read the first book. I fell in love with their story and had a hard time waiting for this book! But it was so worth the wait...although I had to start reading in right away! We pick up the story where Vera is trying to protect Sebastian from threats that were made to her that would possible hurt Sebastian. But Sebastian is fast on her trail and that is were we start with him finding her and then having to work through what has happened. They are having to also deal with the hurt feelings and lost of trust. We see them grow while working through their issues. I not sure I can speak enough of Sebastian...he is a Alpha Male Dream for us ladies. This book and their story has been such a great, emotional, hot fantasy couple! I cannot recommend the story of Sebastian and Vera enough! Loved it!!!! okay duet!! but I wasn't into it definitely my least favorite book by P.Dangelico, who is one of my favorite authors but I guess we can't love every book our favs write
P. Dangelico already convinced me about her talent with the first part of this duet, and after the epic cliffhanger of A Million Different Ways it was no question that I need this book!
The story picked up where the first part thrillingly ended. Sebastian finds Vera and they try to move on after what happened, which is not easy. Sebastian's life is still in danger, Vera is recovering, and their relationship has to pass the biggest tests of all: finding a way to trust each other again. Sebastian is crazily worrying about Vera, he is worrying that she will leave again, he is worrying that something will happen to her and this worry goes so far that it becomes unbearable for Vera.
Sebastian is a true alpha male but I was glad that Vera hasn't let herself submit all the time. It felt a little too much how he wanted control Vera's life, although I understood his reasons. There were some really hot scenes in this book too, and the incredible chemistry between the two characters was still very impressive.
The author' writing style was amazing once again. She is a really talented author. I was glad that there weren't as much describing parts in this book as in the previous volume, and I loved that just like in the first part of the duet, there were some really thrilling scenes in this book, too.
Overall it was a really great closure of an amazing duet, and I'm glad that I had a chance to read it.
☆ My Favorite Quotes ☆
“He was the calm in the middle of the storm– his expression placid, detached. To the untrained eye, he wore all that power effortlessly. Only a ruse, even if it was a beautiful one.”
“I was hanging over a cliff, trusting him to catch me when I fell.”
„A wild thing staking his claim. But I was already his. It had happened quietly, without me noticing. He’d dug under my skin and written himself into my DNA…just as he said he’d wished to do.”
“You’re kind of a catch.” His lips twitched and twitched, an amused glint appearing in his eyes. “And I thank God every day that I’m the one that caught you.”
„To this day, I know less about the magic that causes two people to fall in love than I do about quantum physics. Such mysterious alchemy. But what I knew to be true from that moment on was absolute. Regardless of time and distance, we would always find a way back to each other.”
„Ask people what love is and you’ll get a different answer every time. But pain…pain we can pretty much agree on.”
I was lost in this book in about a million different wonderful ways. I eagerly awaited the release of this novel, and when the author contacted me for a pre-release review, I was ecstatic! A million different ways to lose you is book two of a duology. The first is titled A million different ways. I was enchanted by the first book, and the second one capped it quite beautifully.
Sebastian and Vera are a beautiful couple, but they go through so much more than a regular couple does. Sebastian is rough and domineering, but loves so widely, and Vera, she is strong, wild and loves deeply. They're both running from something, and running towards each other. Being together is easy, but staying happy together is hard. Dangelico gives us a picture of what it is like to work for what you have. This story showed what happily ever after is, with an emphasis on the after.
Dangelico's voice was poetic and beautiful. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially my friends. I loved it! 5 stars!
**I was given this book by the author in exchange for a free review**
Star Ratings: Heroine (Vera): 3/5 – she disappointed me in this book Hero (Sebastian): 4/5 Plot: 4/5 Grovel: good Cheating: h let her ex kiss her HEA: yes with kids Triggers: miscarriage
Average score: 4/5
Best Line: none that stood out to me
Worst Line: “I failed you…I failed, again”
Personal Review: A good conclusion to this couple’s love story but there were times when I just wanted to smack them both for creating unnecessary drama.
Random Ramblings •I hurt for them both •So much death and loss •I was annoyed with the h for not following the security protocol – I could understand why the H was angry with her •Mrs Arnaud was the star in this book (and the voice of reason!)
This duet had complex plot points. Together I'd love to see them as a mini series on Amazon or Netflix. It was refreshing that both the hero and heroine had life drama going on instead of the heroine just becoming an accessory that gets upswept in the billionaire hero's way of life. I had already fingered a couple of the villains but the last one took me a little by surprise. Bravo :)
And the angst! Perfect amount for me but of course I could always do with more groveling. Grovel glut over here!
Book 2 does not disappoint.
On to la Sig.ra Dangelico's next book, which sadly is not a KU pick.
Man, what a super addictive book - I HAD to know what happened next.
This book dealt with the push and pull of Vera and Sebastian's complicated relationship, along with the interesting suspense plotline. Did Vera and Sebastian work my nerves during parts of this book? Absolutely. But, I still rooted for them. They really did remind me of 50 Shades, but with a European flair to the story.
I'm so glad there was an epilogue. It was perfect. Overall, this book was a VERY satisfying conclusion to this duet. Can't wait for Ben and Charlotte's story.
How is it that this book is so addicting, but it's so ughhh. The author has a real talent for making stories addicting.
My face while reading this book, however: -____-
I honestly believe that this didn't need to be a series. The first book was only, in my opinion, a few chapters away from ending nicely. This one dragged on, introduced unnecessary drama, had a couple of plot holes, had extreme character changes, and really uncomfortable moments. The controlling and manipulative actions of the characters made for really unhealthy situations.
It almost felt like the kind of book used to tie up all of the loose ends that weren't really loose to begin with--if that makes any sense.
Also, Sebastian's character was even more intense in this sequel. I felt like, if anything, he was made to look even worse than in book one (where I tolerated him because he hadn't reached this sequel's level of possessiveness and just shy of being slightly abusive?)
The drama (so much of it), the sex (way too much of it), and the situations that Vera got herself into (unnecessarily) were just too much. There were moments where Vera decided to stand up for herself, but then caved within a second because Sebastian took off her shirt, or he blatantly ignored her anger because he "knew" that he could make her delirious with desire. I think their love is toxic and dangerous, to be honest, and a man who has angry sex with you because he can't have a normal conversation regarding his emotions is super alerting.
One final thing: the constant reminders of how much they love each other and are part of each other were really off-putting, like Vera needed to remind herself that she loved Sebastian. It was just so much!
Also, this gem: "Our souls are the same." I may sound anti-romance (I'm not), but wtf does this even mean?
I'm really surprised by this book. The first one had some beautiful writing and Baby Maker was entertaining and not as graphic or dramatic as this one. I still have her other two books that I'm going to read, but this was just so disappointing. It felt like the generic romantic "suspense" with too much sex and not enough storyline/too much drama to supplement the sex.

Unless you don't have a heart, it will be impossible for you not to have yours being stolen by Sebastian Horn. He is my perfect kind of book boyfriend. A billionaire, sho is brooding, has a troubled past, can be a jeek, but who is also attentive, romantic and amazing.
But thr Horn diet is not your typical billionaire romance. At all. It's much more than that and much different. It's filled with angst, specially after all the characters went through in the first book.
Vera comes out stronger and this book shows that even after facing difficulties and coming out stronger, the road to happily ever after is not an easy one.
I love that this book is relatable and I love what Paola did with the story. She gave it even more life and I'm grateful for more Sebastian Horn. No ammount of him is enough to quench your thirst for a great book boyfriend!
I'm so glad she's continuing on with Ben's story, I wasn't ready for this world to be done yet. Highly recommend this author if you love steamy romance.
This is an incredibly angst-ridden romance novel featuring two really dysfunctional characters who you’ll either love wholeheartedly or gently advise to get counseling. The thing is that both hero (especially) and heroine have justified reasons for their dysfunction, but you can’t help but feel that their relationship is a touch unhealthy. If you’re into the whole Christian Grey cold romantic hero who is borderline controlling/abusive but without the BDSM, that’s pretty much Sebastian. Vera has a lot of spirit to her but she’s also sometimes a little TSTL. This book was salvaged for me by the last quarter- otherwise I would have given it 3 Stars, because ultimately it is not bad, the writing is mostly very good even when it has cringey phrases like “love has a feel” or “love has a sound” or my favourite, “trust is a hothouse flower,” that felt a little out of place in context of the rest of the writing. This author knows how to tell an engaging story- even when she’s dragging the plot and stretching it (quite unnecessarily) over two books, you never feel bored or like abandoning the story. Overall, whilst I won’t say I enjoyed The Horn duet (it was a bit too gritty and dark for actual enjoyment), it dragged me through the WTF wringer and definitely left an impression on me.
Yes, Vera and Sebastian’s journey continues, and in Book 2, lots of mysteries are solved, both from Vera and Sebastian’s pasts. Even some things weren’t what they seemed to be…. Vera had me rolling my eyes sometimes, I mean, this woman is a magnet for trouble!!!!
But Sebastian can get really annoying and suffocating too, as the great “control freak” he is, but how can we blame him, after all he went through…
This book is about really trusting each other, and learning from mistakes…. “growing up”, in some way, so a passionate relationship, full of lust, and born from “insta-love” can became a solid (and still hotttttt) relationship.
So will Vera and Sebastian have it in them to let go of their respective trusting issues, pasts, ghosts, to give their love a chance? Or will their insecurities be the end of them? A great ending to this Duet/Series, from very promising writer.

This is the second story in the series and I spent most of it on the edge of my seat and I kept thinking no please don't let that happen! Vera is recovering in the hospital and Sebastian doesn't leave her side for a minute but because of the events proceeding it she isn't given a moments peace. The threat against Sebastian is still out there and his fear of losing Vera begins to really strain the relationship but their love is so strong. Someone Vera never expected to see again doesn't help keep the relationship stable and Sebastian has forbidden her from seeing some of them. In the meantime they are still investigating the missing money and also if Vera can be cleared as well. It's a relationship between the characters that makes you feel the feelings they have and I could feel my heart racing right along with them. Great story and I will be looking for other stories by this writer. Reviewed on behalf of Once upon an Alpha
This book is the second in a 2 book-story. I have read both back-to-back so I will only do one review.
The book at first seemed off and gave me an oldfashioned vibe. Like a modern Downton Abbey. Vera as the housekeeper/maid and Sebastian as the lord of the manor. Their attraction was more sexual than romantic to me and Sebastian was so obsessed! There were several storylines going on and Vera kept getting into trouble and Sebastian very very upset. The push and pull of their relationship was tiring sometimes and in the second book their lack of communication made everything harder. She was mad at him, then he was mad at her because of assumptions they made.
I did keep on reading... it is like a B movie. Full of drama and just a bit off. But sometimes just what you need or want. Could have been edited and fitted in one book.
The conclusion to Vera and Sebastian's story is once again well written and steamy. Vera and Sebastian are spending every minute with each other. Sebastian is frantic at the thought of losing Vera again, so he's holding on to her for dear life. Vera is in love, as is he, but there are threats all around them. The action in this installment is amped up, and so are the feelings and their connection. I admit to wanting to smack Vera a little, though, because, if she had just trusted and confided in Sebastian, so much of what happens could have been avoided.
P. Dangelico has a fan in me, and I cannot wait for more of her writing!
I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.
I’m not even sure how to start this review. I already know that there is no way I can do justice to this duet with my words but I’m going to try. I was in a book-slump. It wasn’t an awful one, just that nothing could keep my attention. So I kept trying and trying to find something to read. P. Dangelico was already on my radar as I had discovered WRECKING BALL, SLEDGEHAMMER & BABY MAKER earlier this year <— I’m a little late to her magic, but you know what they say, better late then never!! 🤣
The blurb and cover of A MILLION DIFFERENT WAYS had me intrigued and I went in with high expectations. You know that feeling, when you start a book and you just KNOW that it’s THE BOOK!! I felt that early on, the excitement of a good book in your hands. It’s the best feeling ever!!
To say I absolute FLOVED this duet is truly an understatement!!! I was CONSUMED, life stopped around me as I was reading. I rarely get SHOUTY or FANGIRLY over books lately but OMG these books, these characters, I couldn’t get enough. They became real as I turned the pages and I never wanted to leave Switzerland!!!!
I swear I was sucked in from the very first chapter. Vera, illegal immigrant from Albania, struggling to find her footing. She is a med school graduate but without papers there isn’t much for her in Switzerland. She applies for a housekeeper position to stay under the radar. When she got the position I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation….
I wish I could make you feel what I felt when I met Sebastian. Talk about a brooding asshole. He was cruel, oh so deliciously cruel. Lost in his pain, his past, and his present. I wanted to cut his balls off and make out with him at the same time. Oh what EXQUISITE TORTURE <— the best kind. Their first interactions were downright painful. My heart squeezed in pain so many times <— I LOVE when this happens!!!
“You make me feel things I don’t want to feel.”
Honestly I’m having a hard time remembering the last time I encountered a love-hate relationship that was this kind of delicate perfection. P. Dangelico created a perfectly imperfect couple and gave me THE FEELS!! ALL THE FEELS!!! It’s no secret that I love this author’s work. She quickly became my go to author this year (although now that I ran out of books written by her, I kind of want to crawl into a fetal position and cry) but I have to say while I loved WRECKING BALL, SLEDGEHAMMER & BABY MAKER nothing prepared me to the STUNNING BEAUTY of what the Horn duet was. It’s hard to believe that these books were her debut books because they are truly PERFECTION!! There is so much research that went into these, so much knowledge. It’s real, it’s raw, it’s complicated and beautiful. Oh how I wanted to be Vera, to be loved by Sebastian. This man, sigh…. He is powerful, overwhelming, demanding yet gentle and kind. Don’t even get me started on the sexy parts. Sizzling hot burn your kindle down connection that kept getting hotter and hotter.
“You’re the dream I never allowed myself to have.”
I finished these books over a week ago and I’m still thinking about it. Honestly I should just reread because I’m not ready to move on😩 I don’t know if I ever will be. I can’t let go and P. Dangelico needs to write faster!!! If you are looking for a new author to discover, look no further. P. Dangelico is a hidden gem and I’m so happy I picked her up on a reader’s recommendation!! If you read her other works, you must MUST read this duet and be prepared to be blow away. It’s nothing like her other works yet it’s the same #Crackilous story telling but more, deeper, rawer. I almost never reread but I think I’m gonna have to because I’m not ready to let go or move on. This story is holding my heart and soul hostage long after I swooned over the perfect epilogue!!!!
Not too crazy about their story taking two separate books to be told in full.
While I disliked the marketing and sales strategy, I can understand it. Ms. Dangelico doesn't produce a.book every othrr month like some cutthroat writers out there, and her writing is superior as well. I haven't hated one of her.books, though I really disliked the heroine in Sledgehammer, while feeling sorry for the male protagonist who was down to the bone gorgeous, sexy, kind and wonderful. Ethan was the impetus to Cam getting hired in Wrecking Ball.
Anyway, I didn't appreciate or think the book getting split into a duet. Dangelico's stories aren't meant to be separated into parts, and.she's never.done it.before. Sebastian is the usual sexy, gorgeous, physically beautiful male protagonist, and Vera, despite her rather.desperate times on the run, turns into a ball buster to the point she practically emasculates Sebastian to make a point just because her pride demanded it. Seriously? After she owes her freedom and privileges as his wife to him, despite claiming she never wanted.that?! I really shouldn't expect less from this writer, who has a habit of exerting female equality and ball busting even though the female always brings less to the table, so to speak, beyond what nature and genetics have gifted her. No matter - the story offers intrigue, tension, fiery sexual scenes, and an abundance of romantic love and dirty, harsh realistic problems that transcends social standings.
I really object to the story told in two parts, so for that I gave ir three stars. The writer is an amazing storyteller, though, and I will still purchase the two just because of how well written they are. It is a marketing and sales gimmick that is not Dangelico's style. She doesn't seem to write like other duet writers, as she takes her time between projects. Other writers churn books out monthly at times. Even noted authors like Nora Roberts or Sherrilyn Kenyon don't publish more than two a year - more than likely it's only one. Can't mass produce quality.
I think this book could’ve been way better if it also had Sebastian’s POV because from just Vera’s POV, he was a JACKASS.
I loved the epilogue but other than that I didn’t like anything although I enjoyed reading it.
Vera had zero pride ( I mean i also wouldn’t have any if I was married to a billionaire but since i’m not .. I’m judging her) and Sebastian had ego of size of a mountain. In this entire book, he continued to do something wrong one way or another and she was the one going back to him, trying to save their relationship. He didn’t do anything.
There was a lot of OM and OW drama in this book which was annoying because the only thing that it proved was that these two are just in lust with each other and there’s almost no trust between them.
More great characters... but agree with Monique that the ending is tied togehter to fast. More could have been written. It seemed like a deadline with page max was coming, and it was all quickly solved. Would love to see another book about them now... residency, other characters, etc. That said, still was eager to read, read, read! Good series! Do. Or like the cover though... he does not look like Sebastian...blonde!
My first time to read anything from this author and I really enjoyed her style and storytelling so much so that I found myself reading the first book in a day. Although not sure it needed the second book, I loved Sebastian and Vera's story. Beautiful story, well rounded characters, lots of emotion and passion. Really enjoyed it and already sucked in to wanting to hear Ben and Charlotte's story.
I was happy to see a continuation on a relationship. I has been a long time since I read one. However there characters. Sebastian is screaming continuously, I have no clue why Vera believes so strongly that he would never hurt her. Vera now, she continuously throws herself into danger unaware that her man has the resources to assist. I wonder if the author thinks this way or decided to write a dim whited character in order to fill a second book with turns.
