Katrina baker is a super and she was banished just two weeks ago to a world of gods, magic, and evil races. A place without plumbing, electricity, Facebook, or lattes. A lot had changed in those two weeks, and she’s already saved the world once, or the human part of it anyway. She’s looking forward to the slowdown, so she can properly let her grief out at the bitter truth that her family is long gone, and to learn about her new world and her place in it. Most of all, to marry the man that she fell for so fast.
Unfortunately for her, Arella has another task for Katrina, and it’s another doozy. The Elves are in trouble, big trouble. The worst part? Gerard isn’t invited to the party, and must head back to Southwater, as trouble brews down south in Chilik as well.
Will she be able to find the truth and prevent the destruction of the Elven kingdom by the blight of evil and poisonous magic? Last time she had Gerard to help her find her feet, and despite her need to learn so much more about this world, this time she stands alone…
I've been an avid book reader since I was a teenager in the 1980's. My preferred genre's are science fiction and fantasy.
I wrote some short stories and was encouraged to try writing and self publishing by some friends. I work in computers and writing is an obsessive hobby I have been trying to hone for a couple of years now. I'll let you judge if I have succeeded or not.
The first book in this series was spoilt by the author trying to write a romance. instead of sticking to an intriguing fantasy. Fortunately in this book Gerard only has a ‘walk-on part’ and the story revolves around Katrina. The story is quite simple and given Katrina’s inexperience it is not surprising she was so easily mislead during her investigation. However, she will need to become a bit more ruthless in the future if she is to become one of my favourite heroines. Overall this was quite a nice fantasy and I would have given 3.5 stars if this was possible.
