Shay began writing as a child, scribbling stories on the walls of the family home. In ink. As you can imagine, they were poorly received. But when the young author moved to pencil and paper, a career was born.
The medieval world is a frequent setting for the writer’s works. Passionate about Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), Shay founded the Academy of Arms, a nonprofit medieval martial arts school in Los Angeles. As an instructor, the author developed expertise in various dueling weapons, including the longsword and pollaxe, and later discovered these skills are counterproductive in office situations.
Shay is also an instrument-rated pilot with a diverse educational background, including an MA in Screenwriting, a BS in Biology, and a BA in English. This is another way of saying Shay never wanted to leave college and join the “real world.”
When not slaving over a new novel, the author plays open-world RPGs and explores the latest tech gadgets. Shay enjoys a healthy lifestyle that includes cooking, working out, fermenting vegetables, and brewing kombucha. The writer’s cherry-ginger kombucha has been particularly well-received.
The author finds Pomskies and Russian Blues to be the most adorable of all creatures and will duel anyone who says otherwise. As an animal lover, there is always a place in Shay’s books for another furry friend.
Currently, the author spends much of the year in Portugal, embracing the culture and learning the language. É muito difícil! Loved this book. I really enjoy the style of this book, I like the alternating chapter views so that you have two parallel stories happening but they tie together. Tyler's story is a roller coaster ride that takes him back in time to be trained in time travel and shifting into a dragon. While at the same time Argyros from KoR is chasing after a dragon that is predicted to appear. And as always Shay leaves us wondering what will happen next.

Dragon Blood is the unusual story of a treasure hunter who discovers his destiny and a world he had no idea existed. It is a world of magic, mystery and the unbelievable. We follow Tyler through one discovery after another, one dangerous challenge after another and the relentless pursuit of an obsessed military-type fanatic. A very good read and an unusual story. I highly recommend Dragon Blood. I know I enjoyed it!

Another great book in the Heartblaze series! I like it that you get to know Tyler better. I should have read it before the Werewolf books, I would have appreciated him more.

As always I will not give spoilers though I will say there is adventure a full rollercoaster of emotion to grip you and wish you were there.

This book was extremely interesting and I liked they way that Tyler's backstory was written. I have read this book two times and found it to be very captivating and enjoyable.

Within these covers lays a treasure, just waiting to be revealed, so it can captivate the lucky reader who lay their eyes upon it. Its an Absolutely mind-boggling story. Consisting of the most mysterious myths, fantastic lore, immortality with a twist, modern action, flavored with just a dash of Indiana Jones. All adding up to a spirited, supremely unique blend, neatly wrapped up and presented in the riveting way that this stellar Author has as his hallmark (and that is present in his books). There is nothing missing, it has everything; from well in depth developed multifaceted characters, captivating dialogue, a storyline uniqueness that has created a whole new niche in this genre, and so much more. It is obvious to the reader that it has the same quality, grandness, and grandeur that is essential to be able to stand out and be genre shaping. Great Authors like Robert Jordan, David Eddings, or Terry Brooks better move on over because this Author has pinned his bright shiny star on the boulevard of fame, right along side them, and it wont take long before he surpasses them. Each book is too good to miss. 🏆 Definitly a strong top candidate for best book of the year (this genre)🏆.

This was about the character of Tyler/Tempus from the heart blaze series, a character I had developed a certain fondness to, for good reason, what a genuinely nice guy and great characters he is. It was great to learn more about him, basically how he became a dracoform, and was trained prior to joining the time agency. the Dragon and time travel elements add something more and different to the book than other shifter/paranormal books. This book just has so many different and new elements to it, the whole series is just uniquely different from any other books I've read.
We again meet those knight's of Rome, from the other heart blaze books, and learn more about this frightening and dangerous organisation.
As with the other books, this is written from the perspective of different characters, anmoo.orgd although at first seems a bit disjointed and difficult to follow, but very cleverly pulls together as you keep reading. Although having read other heart blaze books, I'm used to the style of writing. Also it only has two characters perspectives, so is less complicated than other heart blaze books.
I believe this could be read separate from the other books, although there is a slight overlap, so having read others previously would enhance your enjoyment of this book.

This book has such a cool premise and so much action going on it made my head dizzy! Based on the story on Tyler (who would be seen in the Ash's Sagas books as Tyler/Tempus), this book tells how Tyler went from normal human treasure-hunter, searching for dragon bone relics for his rich paymaster, to being kidnapped by the dragon cult, injected with dragon's blood and becoming a dracoform (dragon shapeshifter). He then undergoes training by the cult's trainers to master shapeshifting, fighting, and timetravel, before being called up to serve the Time Agency (who he was working for when we met him in Ash's Saga).
The writing throughout this story is excellent, right down to the description of the dragon's head lamps on the walls in the chambers of the cult's living accommodation, and the characters are so beautifully animated that they really bring the action to life. I loved the way the author included characters from various time periods - including Tyler's own family, the Knights of Rome team, the trainers - and yet they all seemed perfectly at home in the story. I highly recommend both this book and all the others in the Heartblaze collection, and I can't wait to see where Tyler's adventures take him next!

Finally Tyler's story. Subtle hints were dished out as to his were dragon identity in Heartblaze 5: Ash's Saga when he aided Ash in her quest. I loved Tyler's witty sarcastic sparky humour and confidence in Ash's Saga and I am so happy to see more of it in Dragon Blood. The Knights of Rome have returned in this book, the people I love to hate, have come back with a vengeance. Alexander Argyros of the KoR and his minions leading the charge against dragons.
Dragon Blood continues the time travel, intrigue and suspence that started with Mr. Roberts' first novel Heartblaze 1: Vampire Soul. I am eagerly awaiting the continuation of Tyler's story, discovering who Rosemarie is and what part she has in Tyler's story. Mr. Roberts has done it again creating yet another breath taking book in the series. Thank you Mr. Roberts for sharing these wonderful stories of fantasy and imagination.

Dragons have captured the imagination from the beginning of recorded history. They’re mentioned in the Bible, in ancient Persian and Indian texts, and are part of the ancient Chinese zodiac. Lately, they’ve been co-opted by a flood of “alien dragon-king were-shifter” books where anything remotely resembling tradition is just thrown out the window. But then there’s DRAGON BLOOD by Shay Roberts. It’s the dragon shifter book you’ve been waiting for. As with his other books in the HEARTBLAZE universe, author Shay Roberts has painstakingly built a mythos around the dragons that exist in his world. And then, he’s surrounded that mythos with a carefully crafted metastory that folds in time travel, a magical device, and a villain whose ambitions are not bound by time and space. Our hero, Tyler, has an intriguing backstory, and this fast-paced novel is an adventure that spans continents (and eras) as it introduces us to his “saga.” After reading this book, you will never look at dragons the same way again.
This is an urban fantasy with a fully fleshed-out mythos that sets it apart from the usual "dragon shifter" book. The protagonist is a smart guy with a quick wit and an unusual job. The villain is nuanced, and the same can be said for the plot. This is not standard paranormal fare AT ALL.

The story of Tyler, a clever, witty and suave shifter who is learning his way in a new situation that he's found himself in- that of a dragon, is scorching! Couple that with a dragon hunter and those bent on eradicating or exposing the legendary dragons, and you've got a heck of a situation!
Roberts, in true form, introduces and develops his characters with charm and style. His knowledge of medieval combat, along with both historical and original, creative inventions keep the reader interested even as an aside from the labyrinth of a plot. Roberts unfolds Tyler's journey and Dragon Blood's scenarios with innovative challenges and road blocks along the way, and once you reach the end, you have come full circle.
This is my favorite Heartblaze Novel of Roberts' to date, even though I feel the same each time I read another installment in this series! Dragon Blood has it all: mystery, intrigue, love, loss and hope, this is a must for any paranormal lover's shelf!

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and I really enjoyed it! I highly recommend this book.
Told from the dual POVs of Tyler Buck and Alexander Argyros, this book has a strong narrative with realistic and provocative characters. Tyler is the quintessential hero, unassuming and called to greatness, while Alexander is a textbook paranoid narcissist, convinced he is greater than anyone else and everyone is out to get him. This makes for some interesting internal dialogues.
There is some time travel in this book. Normally, this is a subject I find difficult to follow, but Shay Roberts presents it in a way that is clear and uncomplicated.
There were a couple of lines in the book that made me chuckle, but one in particular stood out. Describing a coworker, Alexander describes him as “a boy with all the charm of a syphilitic boil.” What a visual!

I'm so happy Tyler got his own series! We got hints on how he became a were that shifted into a dragon from the Heartblaze: (Ash's Saga) series. I really enjoyed Tyler's humor and confidence. I was glad we got to see more of that in Dragon Blood. KoR is back in this book(the people you love to hate) This book has it all, intrigue, time travel, and more. Looking forward to finding out who Rosemary is and how she meets Tyler. Shay Roberts had done it again this is a great book and must read if you have read any of Shay's other books! Mr. Roberts crafted a wonderful novel that took me on quite a journey through the pages in time & I LOVED it! Tyler is a treasure Hunter, albeit a greedy & sneaky one, who becomes a dragon...yes...a dragon. Ayana is his lover and sort of trainer. Then the nefarious KoR is back!!! So trust me, this is a sensational novel that you can't put down til it's done! I can't wait for more!!!! I received an ARC and am voluntarily reviewing the story!

I absolutely loved this book. It is a world of magic, mystery and the unbelievable. Now you understand Tyler's (Tempus) story in Ash's story and makes you want to know more. The book is an easy, fast passed read.

Another great adventure tale from the author with lots of action, villains, combat training, a bit of romance and time travel to boot! Tyler, the hero, is chosen to become a dragon shifter and has to decide at every step who is friend and who is foe. Can he remain one step ahead of the villains looking to eradicate dragons and their followers? Read the story and find out!

I'm not a big fan of stories revolving around dragons. This is my first time reading such a story though but, as far as I've finished, it's a good book. With the previous books the author has made, once again I've learned new things: now about dragons. It's a good story but I want to read more, it's quite fascinating. Also, reading Time Academy makes it more intriguing especially if this term/s have already been used in precious stories that adds curiosity on knowing more about it.

This is another outstanding adventure in the Heartblaze Saga. We met Tyler in previous stories, but this book gets to the how and why. I loved every page of it. I have read the previous books and although I didn't think it possible, each one is better than the last. At this point I am so involved in the Heartblaze world I feel like I belong there. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Loved it another fab read from shay I liked the character Tyler and I also like that although it's a bit different from his other books it still mentions the KOR so it sort of carrys on with the previous story what I mean is it got the paranormal side to it I thought it was well written and a good story can't wait for the next.

It was great to read more about Tyler who is part of the Heartblaze world which I have enjoyed reading. He is a fun character and this book is a great choice for those who enjoy the other series and those new to the world. It is full of adventure and has a really interesting storyline with some humor as well.

I've read the entire series so far and this is by the far the best. I'm cnot generally a big fan of dragon shifters, but this one made me change my mind. It's very well constructed and written, love the change of POV's which are surprisingly easy to follow. Couldn't put it down, and now I'm dying for the nextt installment

I really enjoyed reading the Journey of Tyler Buck. He has to learn so much to become a dracoforms. Will he learn? Will he accept what he is? What will happen to Ayana? Will he find out who Alexander Argyros really is? How he can time travel? It was a different take on dragons and time travel. I received a arc copy for my honest review.

This book is so intriguing. I love the way Shay can intertwine time travel and not lose the reader. The characters are so exciting and the twists are awesome. I can't wait for the next book to continue this journey. For all who haven't read her books, really need to get it and enjoy her style of writing. Kudos Shay, well done

Another great story from Shay Roberts! I love this story and as the third installment in the Heartblaze series it tells Tyler's story from his beginning. I can't wait to read the rest of the books. This story was fast paced and I couldn't set it down. I highly recommend this story to anyone that has read the Heartblaze books and/or loves dragons!

Another fabulous book from Shay Roberts! The tale continues with Dragon Blood Tyler's Saga #1. The beginning of Tyler aka Tempus of how he became a dracoform & the start of his training. The introduction of a new KOR character Alexander after the Were attempting their extinction. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for more.
