Close-Up: Twelve Months at Yale focuses on the five major issues which arose during the twelve months approximately from February, 1966 to February, 1967 during which Lanny J. Davis served as Chairman of the Yale Daily News. Unlike most college newspapers, which are dependent on their college administrations for financial subsidy and operating facilities, the Yale newspaper is completely independent of the university. As Chairman of the News, Davis was able to hold a front row seat and, at times, be a direct participant in the issues which arose during his one-year term. The five topics discussed in this title are coeducation, the draft, Vietnam, religion, and teacher evaluations.
