Ice and snow. Purifying fire. Approaching apocalypse.
And a desperate attempt to retrieve the key before all collapses and Earth ceased to exist. At least in the form we got used to, full of humans and life.
Vampires are ruling Antarctica, unseen and dangerously plotting. The mastermind behind, Hoyt Flanagan, is pulling the strings so that many of his hired hands secretly work even against each other, if it serves the purpose and brings the desired outcome. Now the time has come to destroy. But Ciaran and Madeline are aware of this threat, and determined to change the course of fate, saving as many people as possible.
This book was all about tough choices, of justice and desperate love, and all consuming devotion. Power hunger and supernatural abilities combined with the action and tension included make this novella for a short and fast read, very enjoyable and pulling in. Madeline and Ciaran are a badass couple, fierce, strong, and much in love with each other - but they are not the only ones who can love the other one so much.

Old Enemies
Use of Zodiac signs to identify the talismans being sought gave me the mild expectation that critical key elements associated with each sign would play roles in the solution. And, an analysis of the situation is critical to the solution for two species (Virgos being, allegedly, analytical). But, frankly, I was more caught up in the action and derring-do of Madeline and Ciaran than in deeper meanings while I listened to Catherine Edwards's easy narration. An enjoyable adventure!
