Liam York has worked hard to earn the title of League’s Best Mascot for his efforts on the field and in the community. After a Spring Training stunt saddles him with a broken ankle, he's forced to share the spotlight with the team’s a temporary friend for Fin the Shark. But his new co-worker tests the limits of his control. After spending the last fifteen years being “mom” to her younger siblings, Claire Devereux is more than ready for some fun. A job as the Los Angeles Riptide’s newest mascot is the perfect start. She loves every aspect of being Fin’s friend Fiona and is determined to turn the temporary gig into a permanent one. As romance blooms between their on-field personalities, Liam and Claire give in to their passion off the field too. But curve balls from every direction—her family, his recovery, and the team—will determine if they are better off as a duo or if it’s every mascot for him/herself. Meanwhile... First baseman Slade MacInnes has a lot of balls in the air. His contract is expiring, he’s just found his birth parents, and his agreement to do some work with a children’s charity has led him to the very sexy and sweet Savanna Soto. Savanna works hard granting wishes to kids with life-threatening illnesses, something her sister never lived to experience. She envies Slade’s no-fear attitude and the stories of his adrenaline-junkie adventures make her want to break out of her self-imposed safety bubble and live. Slade figures he’s just the man to help her conquer her fears. Each activity draws them closer together with an attraction that sizzles. But when life pushes their differences to a head, will fear win out or can love save the game?

A double-header from Susan Scott Shelley--two romances in one. Witty and heartwarming. A perfect summer read. If you haven't read Susan Scott Shelley before, this is the perfect start. Then catch up!
WOW! This is a very cleverly written two-for-one love story! The two stories are woven together so well - both male main characters are best friends and roommates making it very natural that their stories would overlap! Susan Scott Shelley has done a fantastic job of creating two stories happening simultaneously, and more importantly, both stories keep you captivated - it's not one of those books where you are not as engaged with one story or point of view as another. Both stories are very strong on their own and could have been written as short stories separately but the impact of weaving them together, especially at the end, is part of what makes this book great! But did you notice I said "part of"? The two stories are great on their own too!
Liam York is the mascot, Fin the shark, for Riptide, the baseball team that his best friend and roommate, Slade, plays first base for. When Liam is injured while performing a stunt, Claire Devereux is brought in as Fiona, a new shark friend for Fin, who can perform more stunts while Fin recuperates and becomes Fin's romantic interest. As their romance progresses between their on-field personalities, it does so privately as well. Off-field, Liam continues to struggle with his injury and Claire faces family issues.
At the same time, Liam's roommate, first baseman Slade MacInnes is going through a lot of life changes including his baseball contract expiring, meeting his birth parents, and pursuing a relationship with Savanna Soto, coordinator for the Wishes Granted Foundation whom he met while doing children's charity work with that organization.
Both Liam and Slade come across as genuine people - people who have doubts, insecurities, etc. like the rest of us. There's none of the arrogance that sometimes accompanies well known sports figures in this story!
I loved the way Liam and Slade's lives were so well blended together, as it would be for close friends who are more like brothers. For example, when Liam was injured, Slade was at his side to help him through his initial testing and diagnosis. Conversely, when Slade is facing the prospect of meeting his birth parents for the first time, Liam is there to support Slade. As the story progresses, there are other instances when Liam and Slade are there for each other (along with other friends from the team as well) in a way that is very endearing and entertaining. They truly are as close as brothers! Savanna and Claire likewise become good friends which further blends the two stories in a natural way.
While the two stories are running parallel time-wise, towards the end they become wonderfully intertwined, not surprisingly when a lot of the biggest events happen.
I don't want to give any more of the storyline away - this is a MUST read! Fun and very romantic - times two!
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book. This is my honest review.

Two romances in this fun sweet but sexy sports romance!
Enamored is a sweet sports romance mixing two couples stories, one between two mascots, the other between a baseball player and charity hospital worker. While I don’t normally like more than one romance going on at a time in a book I actually really liked this one and the flow of the overall book wasn’t disturbed as the two males are close friends and the stories overlap.
The book is well written and as it’s told from all four perspectives gives a well rounded look at these very likeable characters as they face various scenarios with heartache, humour, and a sexy edge that make for one fun romance. One couple surrounds a daredevil player with a woman who wishes she could be more thrilling as opposites attract (Slade and Savanna); the other a co-workers theme as an injured mascot finds it’s not only his characters falling for the temporary help mascot but he for the woman wearing the costume (Liam and Claire).
Definitely recommend to those looking for a sweet but sexy sports romance!
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
I've read all of Susan Scott Shelley's romance books and loved them all. This is her best one yet. I was lucky enough to get an advance copy.
It's supposed to be the last in the Game of Love series, and ties things up beautifully. I don't like to give too many plot details that could ruin the story for others, but it revolves around two couples: a baseball mascot and his female counterpart who becomes a romantic interest as well as a rival, and a baseball player and a woman he meets through his charity work. Challenges abound, and there are many tender moments that will tug at your heartstrings.
This book is longer than the author's previous novellas, and the story is much richer than what you might expect. It really keeps you turning the pages. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out what's going to happen in books, but this one surprised me in a few places.
If you've read the other Game of Love books, you'll definitely want to see how the last two guys in the series handle their love stories. But it doesn't matter if you haven't read any of the others. You won't be left in the dark about anything. Both the male and female characters are well-drawn, and you're guaranteed to be rooting for everyone in the story.
What a WONDERFUL feel good book that is chock full of romance. There are actually two couples we get to love as they each find their own love as couples. The story opens when Liam York, the mascot Fin the Shark for the Riptide baseball is injured doing one of his spectacular stunts. They need a temporary replacement while he recovers from a broken ankle and his replacement is Claire Devereux who is introduced as Fiona a "nurse" shark who is brought in to help Fin during his recovery. Just as Fin and Fiona fall in love, Liam and Claire do as well. While that story is definitely enough to make this an entertaining book, Susan Scott Shelley treats us with another love story for us to follow. Enter Slade who is Liam's roommate and an adrenaline junkie who finds his soul mate in Savanna who you might say is scared of her own shadow. When the tern opposites attract was coined, you will find a picture of Slade and Savannah but will love be enough to overcome their differences? I normally read more steamy and dark books but this was just such a wonderful and refreshing book that I did not feel anything was missing. Do yourself a favor and "one click" this book and sit down for a very enjoyable read.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review. I honestly couldn't put it down. It was an easy read and my thoughts of what could happen next kept the book in my hands. The story kept moving and the characters fit very well together. I don't like to talk about the plot and as not to give anything away. This is a very heartfelt story about fears and family. I have to admit, I needed a tissue. You don't need to know a lot about baseball or to have read the previous books in the series, even though some characters return, to enjoy this book.
