Sarah Jensen is well on her way to being a nurse. Her life exists for studying and working only. When she receives a mysterious invitation to an even stranger party in the mail she throws it out. She has no time for what she considers silly college games. Her vivacious roommate, Michelle, doesn’t share Sarah’s opinions. She convinces Sarah to go to the strange party, set in a huge mansion in the countryside, as her date. Sarah knows the whole thing is a bad idea. She arrives at the party and feels woefully out of place. She never would have imagined, in her wildest dreams, meeting a sexy, mysterious stranger who harbors a dark secret. Nor that he is about to open her eyes to a world of pleasure and sensuality she knows nothing about.
Emma Night has always had a flare for writing about paranormal fantasy. She fell in love with vampires at a very young age and her love grew to include Sci Fi Fantasy Romance.
So, I thought I would do a small review on this book, as I honestly don't think enough commendation is given for short stories.
I was able to read this book through the Kindle unlimited scheme, and I would recommend it.
Why you might ask? Well, it is a very short story that has the ability to set a pang in your heart. Yes, the scenes aren't especially well crafted, and the dialogue is short and sweet, but the author has managed to pull me in, and when the story ended I felt a pang of sadness. I did not think the story was over, and I wanted more. That is enough to make me recommend a book.
For a light read when you are tired and in the bath, I would tell you this one.
I think its important to remember, where short stories are concerned, that it is the emotional input and way the story is conveyed, not necessarily the nitty gritty which counts.
FTWL (For those who like) "Hunters Choice" by Shiloh Walker - a fond favourite of mine, although longer than this story.
