I'm a lover of the written word and imaginary worlds and have been from a very young age.

My first forays into writing were stories I wrote to amuse myself - since then I like to think my writing has matured - perhaps more than I have!

Reading is a passion, although I suspect I have far more books than I'll ever have time to read and collecting new books is a pleasant addiction and a fabulous time waster.

Writing is a joyful undertaking conducted with copious amounts of journals, planners and more pens than I'm willing to admit I've bought over the years. Suffice to say I own a multitude of shelves and pencil cases to store it all.

I adore pandas and penguins, elephants and manatees and fluffy butts of all varieties.

Life is taken up with the aforementioned occupations, plus life with the Darling Husband and our four adult children.

Filling up the last of my spare time are the two furry children; Mollie, a rescue Cane Corso/Mastiff and Stanley, the hyperactive American Staffy/Possible Catahoula.

And just in case there are a couple of minutes left over, the Darling Husband and I are planning to build our own house in the hills outside Perth, Western Australia during 2025/2026!

This is the last of a five-book series by D.S. Williams. The first was free through a special promotion.
I must say, it took the whole first book to lure me in. I was surprised it was a story about a girl who fell in love with a vampire, a theme that felt too similar to the only other vampire love story I'd ever read. But, I stayed with it probably because of and despite its initial similarities, to see where it might go. Eventually, I was surprised to feel inspired by the main character, Charlotte Duncan, an unfortunate girl who grows into a warrior woman. Despite being afraid, she fights to protect what is right and those she loves; and she and the many different characters are memorable and compelling. Kudos. To. The. Author.

I'm trying to remember the last time I read a series of 5 books. I did that with this series. Williams' characters come alive and really kind of became my friends as I read. I think a successful book or movie is one where the reader or viewer emotionally comes to care about the characters. I came to care. My mom was a voracious reader and, I remember, she once said to me, "I hate to put my book down to go into the kitchen to prepare dinner because I'm afraid I'm going to miss something." Read these books, see if it happens to you.

The Finale

The final book in the Nehemiah Chronicles was a grand finale. Fireworks included. It certainly didn't disappoint however. I still went back to look for the end for central characters that were important to me.
