This diet is based on the glycemic index. It reinforced everything I've read on keeping the blood sugar balanced to lose weight, fight depression, fight PMS, and fight peri-menopause. He says there are no good and bad carbs, just sugar from food that enters the blood stream too quickly. He doesn't believe in counting calories. I am concerned about some of his protein choices. They seem excessively high in saturated fat. He only allows bread at breakfast. That must be heresy for a Frenchman.

An excellent way to understand why calorie limited, low fat, low sugar, low salt and etc diets can still not show weight loss even coupled with extreme exercise. For anyone who wants to ensure their blood sugar does not cause pancreatic failure and thus diabetes! Excellent book with easy to follow instructions and delicious food plans!
