House of Terrors
It’s been months since Laurel left her home and family to escape her destiny – a destiny that has her giving birth to a demigod. She’s getting by with the help of Aurore, a Titaness with a dangerous secret of her own, who becomes charged with Laurel’s protection. One day, when Laurel accidentally meets the now cold-blooded Sampson, she knows she has lost his love for good. And when she learns the ugly truth about her mother’s death, she never again wants to have anything to do with the Olympians, resigning herself to a future in safety among the Titans. Only when she finds out that the Keepers will stop at nothing to get her back, and that her family is in immediate danger, she returns to Sooke where the son of darkness is waiting for her – and he is determined to fulfill his and Laurel’s destiny.

Beatrice Sand lives in a tiny green village in the Netherlands with her husband and an adopted tortoiseshell cat called Sofie. She found her motivation to write when her niece told her there was nothing better than reading about breathtaking vampires, which resulted in The Ambrosia Trilogy, with hot, sinful demigods. She loves Spanish food, lazy Sunday afternoons, and reading or writing a book that sends butterflies to her stomach.

Still pondering a review for these books.

description

Ever have one of those catch 22 books?? You know the one where you liked it but damn if there weren’t things you wish you could rip out and burn to the ground.

Yea, that’s how these books are for me. I LOVE mythology, especially if there is a hot brooding alpha son of Zeus.
description

What I do NOT like is a bitchy immature twats for a MC.

An example of Laurel being twatty
Sampson: ”Please, Laurel, don’t go with him, I saw you die. If you go to that island you. Will. Die.”
Laurel: ”Pack my shit up, I am making like a baby and heading out to the island.”
Maybe it is just in her nature to be a rebellious asshole.

With that being said, I am apparently the only one who has read this book that feels like that. So maybe I am just ultra-sensitive to snobby toddlers acting like high lords.

This book has sooo many different things going on. There are relationships all over the map.

description

I am pretty sure Eros was flinging out love dust all over the place. Literally, every character in the books were either in a forbidden relationship or utterly and desperately in love with their fated.

It might sound like that bothered me, but it didn’t. What did bother me was the grammatical errors.
”His golden-brow eyes pop in the sunlight.”
Is that a new color?

”But you now what, Sam?”
Hmm, no, I am not sure I now what, please enlighten me.

”I yank the curtain away and spurt up the stairs.”
So yea, not really a grammatical error, but ew.

”Tell me, Lou,” I urge him. “Tell me what you fond out.”
Yea, Lou, please spurt what was fond.

With all the above complaining, I would like to say, I devoured the books. Maybe I am masochist, hell, it doesn’t even matter. I loved the premise of the book.

Unnecessary Chapters

Giving this book a 3 is me being kind. There are plenty of moments (not enough) when I couldn’t put the book down. The last 10-20 chapters of the book kept me on the edge with the Adrian-Laurel-Sam predicament. The chapter when Laurel has a talk with Sam’s mother at the restaurant was a highlight in the book because it provides some insight on what Sam’s possible punishment would be if he continues to see Laurel. Reading and visualizing Sam and Laurel being together was a magical moment for me. Yet, I’m still tired of their “we can’t or shouldn’t be together” conversations.

What I don’t like. The reason I really want to give this book a 2 is it’s repetitiveness. I felt the author did this to lengthen the book, but it wasn’t necessary. This book would have been fine it were 100 pages less. Laurel is hard headed and doesn’t seem to care about her own safety, or the fact that demigods are risking their lives for her. They’re constantly getting into predicaments because of something she has done, all the while she keeps telling them she doesn’t want them getting into trouble over her. Laurel is weak and easily persuaded. I had to remind myself that Laurel is 19 not 15, although her dialogues was often 15ish, repetitive and unnecessary.

Just when you think some big revelation is about to come, it falls short only to have the person speaking lose focus on what they were about to say, or have them say something basic like “I’m in love with a Titan”.

The age thing. The you’re immortal (Sam) and won’t age and I (Laurel) will age. Sounds familiar. I’m thinking Twilight familiar. Especially when it comes to Laurel’s possible pregnancy that could kill her. I can almost guarantee that Laurel will some how became immortal to save her life after the birth of her and Sam’s child. Again, Twilight.

I did not think anything could top the first book in the series, but I’m constantly on the edge and reading into the wee hours of the morning. Unfortunately, Sam and Laurel repeatedly hurt one another while trying to save the other. Trust and hearts are broken alike due to poor communication and ego. Desperate with no other alternative, Sam risks his life by crossing over to dangerous territory in order to protect what belongs to him. The Keepers are furious without the knowledge of Laurel’s whereabouts to the degree that her family’s lives are at stake.

Olympians and Titans become allies in this craftily written tale. Enemies that have sworn to slay one another have forged a truce in order to thwart Apollon’s vision of The Chosen One bearing a demigod. Truths and lies are brought to light causing some of the Olympians to question their loyalty to Zeus.

Laurel has me pulling at my hair and seriously frustrated by her decision making. Will Sam and Laurel’s love protect her from Adrian’s allure or will she succumb to the inevitable fate that awaits her? The author goes to great lengths in order for the reader to fully grasp The Chosen One’s character and personality.

Now that Sam and Laurel have cemented their relationship on her 19th birthday, it makes me wonder if Sam has been lied to in regards to procreation. Romance between Olympians and Titans have blown me away. Is there a possibility of peace after all? I’m estatic and sad that this series will soon come to an end. I look forward to the finale

Wishful thinking

I gave this one 4 stars. The first book was better. At first I was hoping that Laurel would become closer with Sander, like she was with Sam. Then as the book progressed I had high hopes that Phaedra was right about Adrian. I hoped that she would realize he wasn’t as bad a person as everyone was telling her. So to see the outcome was a little disappointing. There was never even a chance of them becoming intimate at all. I had hoped that she would have at least given him the slightest chance of a romance. A girl can dream! I liked the first book more because there was more of a chase and the fact that Sam was so jealous that Adrian was supposed to be the one Laurel ended up with. It made it harder to put the book down. This book on the other hand, I kept putting it down over and over out of aggravation. Anyways, I was disappointed about the ending. I have high hopes that the next book will be better.

Fortunately, this book is better than the first one of the series. The subject matter is interesting: demigods and demigoddesses of Olympus versus the offspring of Titans. This book gets more into where the animosity between the two groups comes from.

Laurel seems to grow more interesting as a character. She spends more time getting to know the Titans, and to be honest I find Rory and Sanders to be more interesting than the Olympians.

The ending was insanely anti-climatic, the show down between Adrian and Sam I mean. The thing that keeps me going with this series is simply due to the fact that I love mythology and there are not that many series based on that subject matter.

At It Again

The Olympians are at it again. Zeus wants to rule the world. He's got new demigods on Earth, twelve of them, one for each new Titan. But that's not enough, he wants to breed one more. The one to change the tide and conquer the Titans once and for all. Or will he? Things aren't always what they seem.

This is the second of a trilogy that will capture the reader. The writing is intelligent, flowing and encapsulating. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

I got annoyed a few chapters in and started to skip large chunks. While I kind of liked the first book in this series, for me it went downhill in this one; it is too immature and the writing style began to bug me.

From all the high ratings given to this book, I am in the minority. So I will leave it and I am sure many others will make up for my dissatisfaction.

4.5 Stars...

This book was better than the first! I loved getting to know the Titans as well as the Olympians. I still wish there was a timeline with the story. Also, there were a few spelling errors.
But!!! Laurel and Sam have been added to my list of favorite fiction couples. I really like how Beatrice Sand narrates from both of their perspectives!

Cant wait to read the third book of The Ambrosia Trilogy! :)

Interesting read

I am pleasantly surprised by this series. I really don't enjoy cliffhangers but luckily I found this series complete. There are many errors in this book. Like hart instead of heart which really annoys me and is the only reason why this book didn't recieve the 5 stars.

Captivating

Once you start reading you just can’t stop. Poor Storm!!! At times Laurel’s attitude and lack of foresight were annoying, but greatly improved by the end. I am looking forward to reading House of Divinity!

Praise

So much Praise for Beatrice Sand and this series. I sure hope she considers developing the characters in this series further with their own books as a spin off from here and even considers children of these characters maybe further down the line. Love these characters

DNF’d at about 1/3 of the way through. The heroine got super annoying, whiny, and hypocritical. Not to mention the storyline was too reminiscent of the Twilight series just not as good. I started thinking, “why am I reading this…there are so many other books out there that I know are better!”
