Myka Williams has been forced out of Knight's Academy and is on the run, constantly moving to keep the vampires off her trail until Preston's venom is no longer coursing through her veins. But she isn’t alone.
Brent Jacobson is her protector, training her and teaching her how to be the werewolf she’s destined to be. He's annoying, stubborn—and hot. But there’s something he isn't telling her.
Myka has to come face-to-face with the truth of who she really. Will she find safety, or will she always be hunted?
Emerald Barnes resides in a small town in Mississippi and has the accent to prove it. She’s an auntie, a youth leader, a little bit of a nerd, a reader, a writer, and a family-oriented person. God is number One in her life, and she thanks Him continuously for His love and favor.
She’s also addicted to tv and binge-watching shows, and she has a thing for superheroes.
I read this book months ago but per request of the author, I wouldn't post my review until closer to the publishing day which right up on us! YAAAYYY!!! But, sadly, I lost my original review when my laptop fried. So, like the fanatic I am, I reread and here we go.
I have missed these character to much for my own good! Right away we are thrown back into the fast-paced-mind-blowing world of vampires and wolves, picking up where book one left off. Which I absolutely love. I love that about Emerald Barnes, she never leaves you wondering what happened between point A to point B.
The Hunted was well written and kept me on the edge of my seat, borderline panic attack wondering what would happen. If you don't get so into this book that you don't hear people talking to you.... something is wrong (just kidding!) but really though. This book has so many dirty little secrets that just leave your jaw dragging on the floor. So not only are you on the edge of your seat, your jaw is on the floor..... mind the flies that may fly by. Lol!
While this story centers a bit more around Myka and Brent, I really thought we would see more of Milo. But I can't say I am complaining. I started out team Milo... Now ♫I am all bout that Brent bout that Brent no Milo♫ Hahha. At times Brent is a bit overbearing but I can see where he is coming from.
There is so more I want to say - so. freaking. bad - but I can't because I would give away to much. And I don't want to do that. I want you to read this book and be in shock and awe like I was.
That ending though! Em! How can you do that to us?! Where is book three!? We need it. We need it ... now! .... please. XD
Ok, so I liked The Marked (The first book in the Knight's Academy Series) and was excited to get to read The Hunted. I was stoked to find out what was going to happen with Myka and Milo and Brent. (i'm a sucker for a love triangle, I can't help it) and The Hunted didn't disappoint.
The book jumps right in with Brent and Myka on the run together and it was hard to put it down. There's plenty of angst and action. The bad guys are even more hate-able (I made up that word but you get it). There's surprises and new characters that are interesting and hold their own secrets.
And can I just say that where it ended has me chomping at the bit to get book three.
If you are looking for an easy, quick, clean read that has the right amount of romance and action you should totally try The Hunted.
Wow! The author really pulled me into this story as soon as she mentioned "alpha male" (well, pretty sure before then, but that's when I didn't want to put the book down for nothing). Talk about throwing a wrench into an already complicated romance! :o
For much of the book, I was really unsure of which "team" I was on because one moment I agree with one guy and the next I was totally disagreeing with BOTH guys. However, I do echo Milo's thoughts when asks why is Myka so fickle. LOL! Currently, I'm saying on the team of #TeamUnsure, but I definitely want to read book three to find out which "official" team I'm on (sorry Milo! You didn't make the cut on this one!).
Also, can I take a moment to appreciate how bad Preston was in the end? He made an epic comeback for a bad guy and am super curious about what he plans to do outside of what readers already know.
The only slightly weird thing for me when reading was having werewolves and vampires praying. I do not have an issue with prayer or the talk of redemption. It was just the first time I read a book in this kind of supernatural way that had Christian overtones. It's still a little for me, but I do love the message behind it (especially a scene concerning Milo).
Overall, a great read that had me wanting to read no matter what needed to get done. I would recommend this series to YA readers who enjoy reading characters that are vampires/werewolves with a strong romance overtone. (Though I promise it's not all romance because I love the message of always having a choice.)

REVIEW After reading and loving Marked, book one, in the Knight's Academy Series I absolutely had to read this one! I am really looking forward to reading this book as I want to learn more about the plan Marcus has, as well as discovering what Myka's birthmark is and what her place in the pack will be. I am also looking forward to catching up with Olivia, Luka, Milo & the rest of the Knight's Academy. Yep even the bad guy Preston!
I still love the different blue hues used both within the series covers so far and on this cover. I'd definitely conclude that the female on the cover running is Myka, the main female character in this book. The male holding her hand and featured heavily in this book is Brent, the shifter given the task of protecting her and delivering her safely to the pack. Once again there's a full moon in the background as well as two werewolves lurking about in the background, which I'd say are Myka's wolf as she is silver like her mother and grandmother before her. I guess some would count the full moon and werewolves as spoilers but really they just confirm that this book series has werewolves featured in the book along with other paranormal beings. I love a great byline, it can be a great opportunity to give a clue towards what will be happening in a book. The byline on this book says,"Everything she knew, was a lie, and now she's the hunted" which certainly fits Myka's situation. She has gone from a human art student sought out for a scholarship to a rare werewolf whom Headmaster Marcus Knight would kill to have, to include in his race/species experiments.
This book more or less picks up a few days after book one Marked ended. So we know that Myka has escaped the Knight's Academy with Milo's help and is on the run with fellow werewolf Brent. Myka has been told Brent is taking her to the pack for both protection and to be taught the ways of the wolf and pack. They are camping in various fields as far away from civilisation as possible. Myka has learnt her wolf loves the open spaces and feelings of freedom. Brent's attitude varies from seeming to be irritated by Myka to quite openly flirting with her. The two wolves occasionally stay in a cheap off the beaten track motel so they can have a night in a comfy bed and a shower. Preston is under orders to find Myka and bring her back as soon as possible. After a bungled kidnapping attack when during a lapse of judgement Myka revisits her old home, Preston is in disgrace and ignored in favour of Milo searching for her. Marcus wants to get on Milo's good side and keep up the pretense of wanting Milo with himself and Milo's mother living under the same roof. Much to Milo's disgust his mother is not only Marcus' donor but confesses to Milo that she still loves Marcus. Myka has a lot to learn about her pack background and has a few surprises sprung on her about her wolf mother and her human father. Finally she meets her grandmother and realises how important to the pack she is and why. Milo contacts Brent and explains what Marcus thinks he is doing and they inform the Shewolf, who eventually decides they should first attempt to talk to Marcus and if that doesn't work, then there will be a fight. Milo gathers vampires who want to take down Marcus but will they be enough? And are the lies Milo is telling keeping Marcus placated and unsuspecting? Myka has some difficult choices to make from, who she truly loves, to putting duty before love and then choosing to try and bargain with the unscrupulous Marcus for the lives of those she loves. Then there is a super cliffhanger with favourite characters being in eminent danger. Sadly Myka has lost some of those she loves but she is unsure who and it may be some time for that to be revealed.
My favourite characters in this book were Brent (definitely #BookBoyfriend material!) the gorgeous guy who is protecting Myka and helping her become used to her feelings as a wolf. I suppose some would say its a good problem to have, but for Myka, it is a muddle of mixed feelings and emotions with three possible partners, Milo the vampire hybrid, Brent the protector & werewolf and finally the one she is expected to marry for the best outcome for the pack, Colin. I had mixed feelings about the She-wolf head of the pack. . . as she professed to love Myka, and even demonstrates she knows what it is like to be expected to marry someone who you don't love for the sake of duty to the pack, yet she expects Myka to do exactly that. We also learn much more about Luka's pack and what hold Marcus has had over him. Luka is determined to care for and protect Olivia. Olivia is eventually re-united with Myka and remains to be the anchor of "normal". Myka and Olivia have both been in danger and still are because of Marcus Knight. Just when you think there is the possibility of a solution, and a way to prevent Marcus Knight continuing with his crazy breeding and taking over the world, something else happens!
My thoughts when I first finished the book was. . . Oh No! How could it end right there!?! Who survived/was killed in the attack? And Olivia! I did not see that one coming!! To say I am (im)patiently waiting for the next book is an understatement. If I had it I'd be reading it right now!
This is the second book in the Knight's Academy in this book Myka is on the run with Brent whose taking Myka to his pack where she will meet the shewolf and find out what's in store for her. Only problem is Myka hasn't talked to anyone since she left the academy except for Brent who seems to not be enjoying babysitting the young wolf girl.
Knight's Academy is in an uproar or more specifically Marcus Knight is in an uproar having lost Myka he's less than thrilled with Preston who let the girl get away and can't seem to locate her. He's charged with finding her at all costs. Milo Marcus's son is building an uprising of vampires who have had it will Marcus and what he's about. Milo has helped Luca and Olivia disappear and is after many failed attempts by Preston to find Myka has put Milo in charge of find the wolves and bringing the girls back for a more sinister mission.
Myka sneaks away from Brent and finds her parents to see how they are doing which ends up putting more people in danger. Myka finds herself on the run with her parents and Brent on their way to meet the shewolf who Myka seems to have a connection with. But will all this come with a price tag?
This book was incredible it really picked up not long where the previous book left off. We watch how Myka tries to make sense of everything that is happening to her, and the lengths her friends and family will go to to protect her.
I enjoyed watching as Myka did grow within this story. She dealt with what she was giving even when she herself didn't know how she felt. The lengths she would go to in order to protect those close to her. I really can't wait to see where this fabulous series will go. If you haven't read this series yet you are really missing out on it!

Not as good as the first book. The storyline was boring as initially it was just moving around from place to place to hide from Preston, also Myka repeatedly reiterated the fact she didn't want to have feelings for Brent because she was too in love with Milo. Then she found out about having a betrothed and she had to do it for the pack even though she didn't want too. The continuous back and forward love triangle got on my nerves. She loved both Brent and Milo and led them both on; repeatedly went on about how Brent didn't love her and broke her heart after he had led her on. I felt sorry for Milo however he did break her heart in the first place and cut her loose but he still deeply loves her and she ended up breaking his heart. Now that she's having to marry Colin, her betrothed, Brent wants her and so they sneak around. As you can see this is what the story is all about. Not only was the storyline boring but It lacked chemistry between the characters. I can honestly say Myka got on my very nerves with her constant crying and the love triangle. I won't be reading book 3 unfortunately.
I love this series... I love the characters, the plot, and almost everything about it. I love the fact that I there is such a distinction between love and sex...and I am DEFINITELY crossing my fingers for Milo... I kinda expected there to be a slight cliffhanger... But this is a little much... PLEASE!!! HURRY with the next book :-D
This story practically picks up within days of the last one and this book does not disappoint. If anything, we continue to see a continued growth not only with the amazing characters but also in the fluidity of the story line. Readers of all ages will fall in love with this series and this talented author.
I cannot wait until the next book!!
