It was an accident I saw this from Netgalley and I really thought this book was for me.

Pstr. Brian did a pretty good job constructing this very inspiring book. It started with expected stuffs I've heard thousand times before but that didn't encourage as I know they were needed in forming and conveying the main message of the book. And I was right. Pstr. Brian did convey such an amazing message in a simple but very effective way. Every point is backed by a verse from the bible that makes the reader learned so much bible principles they needed in achieving a dream.

It was amazing.

I received this ARC late and the read it little by little because I wanted to savor it. So apologies that my review is late. Thanks to the publishers and authors and God Bless you all.

An encouraging and an exceptionally well written book that is easy to read and practical enough to apply. Ps Brian Houston is one of the top leaders worldwide and he has written a thought provoking book that inspires and uplifts while also challenging the norms of society.

4.5 Stars (If half stars were a thing)

This book was actually really good. I had my doubts because it does start off really slow, and some points drag on, but the message is solid and really life-giving. I thought this book was way more put together than Pastor Brians last ‘Live Love Lead’.

TAKE COURAGE! TAKE HEART! GO FORWARD! This book would talk anyone off a ledge or brace us on our worst day, which happened to me during my listening. Hearing the book in Ps Houston's own voice was like listening to a wise uncle calmly whispering in my ear some encouraging words he'd heard from God. The rich, rich content seems like it could have been broken into 4 books, but since he's been speaking for 44 years, and has firsthand stories of hundreds of thousands of people through his ministry, he has tons of content that have to go somewhere, and this book is jam-packed. It seems in this book, he gave us the BEST of his theological perspectives, in gentle teachings and interesting stories, complete with full passages of scripture. Hearing the whole thing in his voice was fantastic.

This book is so good! Every time I read Pastor Brian, he always brings the most simple truths in the most effective ways. But I think that’s a reflection of who God is. God isn’t complicated; he’s simple. Yet simple does not equal shallow - on the contrary, God has depths that have yet to be discovered. So it is with this book. Simple truths, yet rich in depth and content. I highly recommend this book to everyone who calls themselves a follower of Jesus! There is more!

This book starts out a little generic. We all have dreams and we need to dream big type of stuff, but the last half of the book is gold! He pulls together so many tensions on how to dream big and see it happen. Slow start for me, but by the end I was truly blessed by this book. Plus, this guy is a legend. I am ready for him to write a book about church culture.

Years ago, I grabbed hold of Ephesians 3:20-21: "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." I wanted to believe it, to see God actually do more than I could ask or imagine in me and through me. But, like all of us, I struggled with doubt. After all, I'm just me, and I know all my failures, shortcomings, and tendencies to chose wrongly.

I've come far over the years, battling myself, my heart, and my mind to accept and believe those verses more and more, but I also recognize that I need to guard against apathy. To continue to push forward to believe even more, to look for greater things. This book supports my efforts to be ever more mindful of the things of God, His power in my life, and His willingness to fulfill Ephesians 3:20-21 in me and around me. Pastor Houston cheers me on, asking me to think bigger and then providing examples from his years of ministry that what I'm hoping for isn't outside God's ability.

I read this book after attending a Hillsong UNITED concert with my parents where they handed out the book for free. After receiving the book my father encouraged me to read it. After having read the book, my expectations were exceeded in the fact that I got a lot more out of the book and learned a lot more than I expected going into it. This book had a personal connection to me because I enjoy listening to UNITED's music and was interested in being able to learn more about how everything came to be through Brian Houston's leadership and lessons in the book. I found a strong and inspiring reoccurring theme throughout the book to be that fulfillment and meaning in life does not come from objects and wealth but instead through relationships and living a meaningful life. These themes really resonated with me as I found them to be helpful and very meaningful. I recommend this book for people interested in reading about leadership and for people who deal with issues such as depression because the book offers advice to people going through such situations.

The book rambles a bit in places and I found it to be a bit of a slog to get through the middle chapters. In my opinion, this is not Pastor Brian's best work, but it is well worth reading nevertheless. As usual, he draws on his wonderful wealth of personal experience over his entire life, bringing most of the points home with clarity and in very engaging ways.

The first few chapters were a kick in the butt for me. Perhaps more mature Christians will find it less confrontational. Of course, I deserved every single kick, especially the bits about giving into my default negative mindset, language, and behaviour.

The last few chapters are amazing. He challenged me to keep working on the things in my life that are holding me back, especially the niggling negative bits in how I think about myself, God, and the many challenges we all face. By the end, I was encouraged, reaffirmed, and recommitted to keep going in some of the projects in my life that have been dragging and meeting with resistance from within and from outside. Pastor Brian is right, there is more!

I have to say, I got this book for free through Pastor Resources. I am just realizing now that somehow I listed the audio CD, but I got and read the actual book. I requested a copy because I have seen Brian Houston several times and have thoroughly enjoyed his insights. This book did not disappoint. In the book Houston speaks of "more". Not more as in possessions, or accomplishment, but in more of God and His plan and purpose for your life. This book is excessively encouraging (which I think is a great thing!). Houston weaves stories from his life and past into a thoroughly biblical look at what it means to have more of the God who is able to exceedingly more than we can think, ask or imagine.

If you are feeling in need of encouragement, read this book. If you are feeling a little stagnate in your Spiritual growth, read this book. If you look at life and sometimes feel lime there has got to be more... there really is, so read this book.

The best part of There is More is that Houston makes much of Jesus. That’s enough to recommend the book. His energy is contagious. His faith is deep. His doctrine is sound.
This book is ideal for someone stuck in a spiritual rut wanting to go to the next level. There is an optimistic spirit throughout the pages. However, if you are in a deep pit, this might not be the book you’re looking for. Houston does not address that kind of hopeless despair in this book. I often found myself making counter arguments in my mind as I read his positive message. Some people will need more than a sermon or a book to get out of their pit. That’s where followers of Christ are called to be present.
So if your faith has been lackluster, and you’re ready to be back in your walk with Jesus, this is the book for you. If you are in crisis, it may not be for you.

I'm trying to read more of spiritual readings and equating it to my fiction book reading goals.

The last time that I read Christian reference book that inspired me a lot, change the way I think of myself and to the people around was Crash the Chatterbox by Steven Furtick. And while reading this book, it reminds me the feels I have while reading Crash the Chatterbox.

Did you ever experience reading a book then suddenly it makes you assess your own spiritual standing and growth?

So privileged that I've been given an ARC of this book knowingly that it was published earlier in Australia but it will be released on March 20 internationally.

I'm not a part of any Hillsong church but I'm a Christian who loves their songs. I used their songs in our church services and it was awesome. Even though, part of the experiences cited in this book pertains to the struggles and victories of the Hillsong church, it doesn't give you the feels of un-belonging for not being part of their church. It actually inspires and motivates you that what God did in their church, He can also do it in our own churches.

There so many inspirations you can get in this book. Personal assessment and church growth suggestions.

This a great book that inspires you to extend and take risk of your faith and see the results of your unwavering faith and dedication to expand God's Kingdom.

Wow! What a God-breathed, Spirit-led book! I could wait to read the next chapter. This has lifted my Spirit to seek, pray and yearn for more! I remember once saying to my spiritual mum (who is now with the Lord) "there has to be more than this!". Brian has opened up some of the 'more' for me and I will continue to seek more and encourage others to do so. Thank you.

Wow! What a God-breathed, Spirit-led book! I couldnt wait to read the next chapter.These truths have lifted my spirit to serk, pray and yearn for more! I remember saying to my spiritual Mum (who is with the Lord now) "there has to be more than this!). A richly encouraging and inspiring book! I highly recommend it for anyone who desires to see God do, “exceedingly, abundantly, above and beyond anything they could ask for, hope, think, or even imagine...” in their life. It would be particularly beneficial for leaders, pastors, and anyone with God-sized dreams that are either in the process of being formed, lying dormant, or yet to be discovered. Entirely scriptural with innumerable personal testimonies and anecdotes, Brian Houston does a phenomenal job of making the case that absolutely anyone can do incredible things with their life when it is yielded to God. One of the most encouraging books I have read in a very long time. Highly recommended!

This book will helping us to live or perceived and understand more that is grace, goodness, mercy, kindness, love, forgiveness and favor are waiting in the future with God had plan to all of us. I went to a Hillsongs concert and they gave away this book to everyone there. It's pretty good - better than expected. It's not particularly deep, but his inspiration is so infectious that he won me over in the end. If I were to sum up the book in the most superficial way possible, it would be: Serve. Obey. God gives you gifts. Be receptive. Be credible and consistent. Attend to both the daily walk and the spiritual war. Don’t be beholden to the past. Read the Word. Nothing new, but still solid advice.

While the title and theme are quite encouraging it left me feeling like I have just read the corporate annual report for Hillsong INC. With abundant references to the mass of churches, TV broadcasts amassed under the Hillsong umbrella it felt quite excessive. Frequent musings about traveling the world like a salesman did not appear the heartfelt experiences of a humble servant of the Lord. Personally I feel like this type of church franchising is what has me steer clear of big religion. What about you?

This was a hugely inspiring book that will challenge and encourage your faith in the God who is able to do "exceedingly, abundantly more than all we could ever ask or imagine". The stories Brian shares about the history of Hillsong are really fun to read about and overall his message is one that I really needed to hear in this period of life. If you need a book to refresh your faith, renew your vision, reignite your trust in what God has spoken over your life, this is a great option!

Favorite Quote: "I understand the daily grind of getting up, working, providing for your family and coming home to pay the bills and to put the kids to bed. I also have come to understand that God is in the details. The smallest detail and seemingly ordinary grind of our daily lives doesn't go unnoticed or unrewarded by Him. Faithfulness in the little things, doing daily, ordinary life well is crucial to experiencing the more that God promises. Don't be discouraged by what seems ordinary and don't allow familiarity to rob you of a God encounter."

Excellent book excellent excellent excellent

I have only recently begun attending Hillsong Church and have found it to be a wonderful source of knowledge and strength in this book helps me understand why the church is as impactful as it is. Pastor Houston has written a book that tells you to look.up and help to lift your chin look to the sky expecting the best is yet to come strongly recommend excellent book especially if you're Australian please please read

As usual, Brian Houston’s always filled with hope and the future.

Some part of the book were already mentioned in his previous book. Nevetheless, there are so much more new things in this book.

I like particularly the way he is being full of hope, while getting real with the “not-fun” part of life. Being positive does not mean ignoring reality.

Always been blessed reading his books.

Recommended.

En spennende bok som gir innblikk i Hillsongs og Houston-familiens historie. Houston formidler, tydelig forankret i Bibelen, hvordan Gud gjennom livet har vært trofast, har vært større enn forventet og hvordan det hele handler om enkeltmennesker som får livet sitt forvandlet av evangeliet om Jesus! (får trekk i stjerne fordi den inspirerer, men uten at eg sitter igjen med noe konkret)

This is a nice encouraging book that bring you on a journey with Pester Brain through his ups and downs.
While I generally like how Pester Brain explains to you how there is more that God has planned for you, and there is more blessings and grace that you can expect from God, he some times digress too much midway through the chapter..
All in all a good read that will help reaffirm your faith!

This book is phenomenal! If you enjoy Pastor Brian’s book or are just looking for some direction for your life or simply just enjoy reading, this book it for you! Filled with insight and encouragement for your life and how God has more for you than you could ever imagine!

what a great reminder that we are not defined by our past. Whether it was great, so-so, or a total train wreck, God has more in store for us.
I loved how Brian talks about wanting/needing/being willing to change our current reality/mindset to engage in the future that God has planned for us.

Brian Houston's newest book, There is More: When the World Says You Can't, God Says You Can, is a reminder to live life with expectancy. Houston reminds the reader that God gives us dreams that ask us to put our faith in the Creator - the only one who can truly fulfill the dream in the first place.

There is More: When the World Says You Can't, God Says You Can
There is More reminds us that when we are obedient to God, we see "more" on the other side. That we are given blessings when we choose to live life according to how God asks us to live. 

"Your ability to hold fast to the promises of God, trust in His provision, and believe that His desire for your life is abundance will hold you in good stead time and time again."

The focus is not so much on what God can do for us, but rather how we can live our lives for God and as a result, we experience blessings and the fulfillment of dreams we never imagined possible. 

I appreciated the fact that Houston doesn't assert we won't always get what we want - that sometimes we have to make choices and sacrifice the thing we think is the dream in order to actually fulfill the dream. Houston doesn't promise a perfect life. Instead, he promises an exciting journey with God that will propel us to something greater than we thought possible when we chose to trust God and lean into His Word. 

Houston reminds us to submit and surrender our plans before the throne because it is then that God is best able to use us for His glory.

It was overall a good, inspiring book, but it got a bit too repetitive and kept losing my interest midway through. It just didn’t resonate with me personally with where I’m at right now in my spiritual walk, but that doesn’t mean it won’t for someone else.

Geweldig wat Brian Houston doet voor de kerk wereldwijd. Zijn hart en drive om de kerk te zien bloeien druipen van elke bladzijde af. Wel had ik naar het einde toe moeite om mijn aandacht erbij te houden en het uit te lezen.

This book was given to us free ar Hillsong Conference. It is life changing and gives hope that despite the challenges we experience in life, there is more that God has in store for us - better things in the future.
