Toni was incredibly flattered when distinguished, razor-shrp surgeon Theodore French showed more than a professional interest in her. But after several years of marriage, she realises that his cold disciplinarian stance is more than skin deep.
The premise hooked me, but the execution lost momentum. It takes nearly 250 pages of backstory to fully reach the central plot that was introduced much earlier, which made the pacing feel unnecessarily slow. There were too many filler scenes and moments that could have been trimmed to keep the story tighter and more engaging. I’m really trying to push through and finish it, but it just isn’t holding my interest.
