Recently I have had a hard time finding books that really blow me out of the water but this one did just that. The concept itself is very interesting in my opinion. Let's be honest here, I think we can all agree that the fantasy of having a hot millionaire come in and ask to spend time with you, even if you are already in a relationship, gets the mind going. I really loved how the author made the conversations around the proposal as true to life as I would expect. A huge underlying message that I seemed to notice a lot was on making sacrifices for the ones you love, and how sometimes that can back fire (in good and bad ways).
The author did an amazing job with character building and you really get a chance to see both their amazing attributes, but also their flaws. Yes, there were moments where I wanted to scream at both of them for being so stubborn and not just letting the past go, but that's how it is in real life... Obviously with not as much money involved, or as high of stakes, but there is a lot of truth to that. Lola is amazing. She is strong, smart, she knows herself and is honest about her flaws. She's fantastic! With that said, there were a couple of parts where I felt Beau was a little aggressive and kind of a dick, but now that I have finished everything I understand the thought behind it. The beautiful part about all of that is the voice actor did such a good job making him sound like a dick that I actually got upset with him and the tone he used with Lola multiple times. Props to Christian Fox for the amazing delivery! I can't imagine anyone else reading this one.
The thing that I loved the most about this book was the intimacy. Yes the sex was hot, but sex is different when there is intimacy and vulnerability involved. The conversations they had when they were together, the flirting, being open and honest with each other, that was really what drew me in because the author made it feel real. I will definitely be looking for some more books like this one, and I highly recommend giving this one a try if you haven't already.
The only thing that I really wish would have been included is a short epilogue. I would have loved to hear a bit of what happened down the line instead of it just ending where it did, but I am also content with what I got and will just let my mind finish that last part up.
