The universe is filled with sound, an ever-present backing track to every moment of every day for everyone, everywhere. A Saab like Saabrina can hear the growl of a black hole, the harmony of a gravitational wave, the chirp from an interstellar collision. But Saabrina can’t hear when with one little accident, she and Bob change the key. Now the worlds and people they know will be gone if they can’t get the universe back in tune by the end of the song. Saabrina: Tanglewood, the second book of the Saabrina series, continues the adventures of Saabrina, a sentient spacecraft called a Saab, and her partner, Bob Foxen, Sentinel of the United Star Systems.
This is a delightful sci-fi adventure. A great follow up to the first book in the series. Bob and Saabrina continue their adventures protecting the galaxy and stopping the bad guys. It can definitely be a little campy, but I found it to be fun and highly entertaining. I enjoyed the fact that we get to meet more of Saabrina’s sisters in this book, and am hoping the next will include more with Rebecca!
Not sure why this is getting such poor reviews, other than quite a few reviewers not having read the first book (which you need to have read for appropriate context).
Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys sci-fi! I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways. My opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed reading the first two books in this series. They are funny, endearing father-daughter adventure stories with some science fiction peppered throughout. Bob is my age, so it's easy for me to see through his eye and vantage point. Makes me wish I had a daughter. Has the feel of a British sci-fi television series - there are quite a few references to Doctor Who - for some screenwriter out there to easily develop. Looking forward to the next adventure.
I am so happy and satisfied with the experience of reading this series. I really have developed a deep affection and appreciation of these characters and the artful and fascinating journey their adventures and experiences delivered. What a gifted story teller and genuine emotionally satisfying read. Never stop writing this series and making me care so much for Bob, Saabrina, Rebecca and their friends and allies.
I enjoyed the first Saabrina book as a piece of light reading but I could not get into this one. The author gets bogged down in endless minute detail and the story such as it is loses traction. None of the experiences the characters go through seem to give them any character development and the whole thing is just endless insipid drivel. I finally gave up and moved on to something better written.
The book starts well, in sync and similar enough to book 1 for the storyline to flow well, but somewhere along the journey the narrative takes an unexpected turn and I eventually lost interest. At 80% I was no longer vested in the characters or the story and I quit. I’d have to say this was not a decent sequel and if you enjoyed book 1, then stop there.
I only got to page 111. Unfortunately, I felt like I was coming into the middle of a story and unable to make sense of what was going on. So although I normally like stories of intelligent AIs finding someone from earth to captain their ship and find them a crew this one just didn't work for me. I'm not even sure if a better editor would have helped.
Second book in a series I enjoyed this more than the first book. It took me awhile to get through my stack to finally read. As with the first book I received a complementary copy via #GoodreadsGiveaways.
Looking forward to the next in series. These AI's are believable and lovable. I'm done, but Amazon requires more words to accept a review. Shame on you Amazon.
This we a good read sans a few parts I was kinda lost on, I'm still looking forward to the next one. The 1st one was really good, this one wasn't bad hoping the third one is out soon.
The world building is creative and well done, the characters are fascinating, and the story is entertaining. Bad things happen; Tanglewood is not a romp in a park. The Saabs are a unique and enjoyable take on sapient AIs.
A bit slow sometimes, as this book focuses on a long term fight for the right of sentient, while saving the universe. All in a day's work for a Saab and her sentinel
I enjoyed the adventures of Bob and his faithful Saab. It's a nice escape from all the military sifi I've been reading where everyone seems to get killed.
I received a free copy via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.
I had 3 attempts to read this, but it just could not hold my interest. The storyline was confusing. Maybe if I had read the first in the series it would have been better. DNF
So, when I requested this book, I didn't realize it was a sequel. I tried to push through anyways, but it references characters and events from the previous books, and explains so little, that I was too confused to keep going. Not really the book's fault, but I couldn't read it.
I received this book for free from the author/publisher in response for an honest review of the book. I have not had the opportunity to read this book at this time. I will add my review of this book once I have read the book. Thank k you for allowing me the optometrist review your work. I look forward to reading this book.
