Who killed Judge Shaw Buchanan aka “the hanging judge,” on the day of his wife’s funeral? When Harper Buchanan, the judge’s estranged daughter, witnesses her father’s murder in the small town of Barley, New Hampshire, she promises to find his escaped killer. She hires local private investigator, Finn O’Rourke to track down the shooter. Soon, they are working together, and Harper finds herself drawn to Finn’s looks, smarts, and self-reliance. But she’s fallen for the wrong type of man before. She vows not to repeat her mistake and to keep their relationship professional.
Finn does his best to deal with their growing chemistry by focusing on the job. But when someone attempts to kill Harper to prevent her from uncovering the identity of her father’s murderer, his goal changes. Harper’s protection becomes Finn’s full-time priority, even though it means risking his life for a woman who may never love him.
There were a lot of peripheral characters in this book and, especially early on, I had a little trouble keeping everyone straight in my head. The mystery (and murder) happens fast, then it’s a roller coaster ride to the end.
I enjoyed the writing style and following the clues. The romance between Harper and Finn was steamy, but slow percolating – I appreciated that because I’ve read too many insta-love romances lately, it seems. Sweet Dreams Baby was a suspenseful read that kept me interested and entertained.
This was a wonderful read! I loved the problem-solving, detective feel to it, but also the gripping thriller side to it, making it a very exciting and interesting.
I really liked the main character, and felt that the author created a brilliant lead, and surrounded that character with secondary characters that created a very well-rounded story. The author made the our leading lady very strong, intelligent and full of personality, which I loved.
The pace was excellent and really helped create a story that I found very easy to get into and very hard to put down.
Overall, I think this was fantastic. I loved seeing where the author took the story and how they made it about solving the murder, yet also a little about romance. It is a great read and one a lot of readers will enjoy.
I don't know where to start. What starts out as a family funeral for Harper's mother quickly goes downhill with the murder of her father. What ensues definately takes the reader on a Rollercoaster ride of epic proportions. Definately a recommended read.
I received this book as an ARC. Sweet Dreams, Baby is the first book by Nora LeDuc that I have read but it certainly will not be my last. Harper arrives home to care for her dying mother and plan her funeral hoping to make amends with her estranged father. Following an incident at the funeral home, Harper and her father arrive home only to find a stranger with a gun. All hope of healing the past vanishes as Harper's father is gunned down in the driveway. A fast paced mystery ensues as Harper must find out who killed her father, with the help of small town PI Finn, before the killer comes for her. Ms. LeDuc's characters are very developed and relatable. The mystery is full of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end with enough humor to lighten the suspense when the reader needs to catch their breath. I thoroughly enjoyed Sweet Dreams, Baby and look forward to the next installment of this series.
On the day of her mother's funeral, Harper's father gets into an verbal arguement with Harper's ex father in law at the funeral home. Then when Harper and her father finally get home, someone shoots him right there in the driveway with Harper in the car! She hires Finn O'Rourke and ex local policeman, and now a free lancing private investigator. As they work together to find the killer, they both notice the chemistry between the two of them. Can they overcome what they feel and find the killer? I received a copy of this book from Authors XP. The review is voluntarily done and of my own opinions.
I love a good suspenseful, mystery book and this book did not disappoint!
There was quite a bit going on in this book, and it definitely kept me entertained to the very last page!
This book is about solving the murder case of Judge Shaw Buchanan that his daughter, Harper Buchanan witnessed. Although they were estranged she vows to find his killer and bring him to justice. Harper hires Finn O’Rourke, a local private investigator to help her on the case. It isn’t long before they’re working long hours together and the chemistry starts heating up. Although they both try to keep it professional and not cross any lines. However, when Harper’s life is in jeopardy Finn makes her his number one priority no matter if their relationship will always only be a professional one.
I really liked the main characters and respected their working relationship. I think we’ve all had someone in our professional lives that we’ve been interested in crossing into our personal lives, but things get messy and from past experience it sometimes is just easier to not even cross those boundaries. So these characters were definitely easy to relate to and felt genuine.
I liked the storyline, and there some great twists and turns that keep you guessing!
All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book and would absolutely recommend this book to all readers as this book offers mystery, suspense, thriller, romance, intrigue, and so much more!

“Sweet Dreams, Baby” by Nora LeDuc is part of the ‘Love and Mystery in the ‘6-oh-3’ series. This story follows Harper Buchanan as her estranged relationship with her father ends abruptly with his murder. Her search for justice prompts her to enlist the aid of Finn O’Rourke, who has his own history with the inhabitants of the small town of Barley. Both Harper and Finn have their own painful histories to deal with, and their unexpected attraction complicates the investigation that just may prove to be fatal to pursue.
There are intriguing twists and turns to this mystery that includes its share of dysfunctional relationships. I love Harper’s charismatic little girl, who manages to steal whichever scene she is in, as well as Finn’s father, who is unfazed about many things (including the usurpation of his rig, lol) but I am not so in love with the main characters who feel a little stilted to me, and I wasn’t convinced of the intensity of their connection, plus the deliberate obtuseness of Harper’s ex was annoying. There are brief forays into the villain’s point of view, and the final explanation was quite a surprise to me as I didn’t think there had been a lot of foreshadowing. This is an interesting mystery that has its ups and downs but does have a satisfactory ending that is particularly relevant in terms of the headlines lately.

Well, I love me a good suspense, thriller, romance filled story. This book had it all!
The overall premise of the story seemed intriguing and had me interested. Once I started reading the story, I was absolutely blown away. The story was incredible. It was full of twists and turns and was chilling at times. It had a sweet little romance side of the story as well. It was a well rounded, well written, incredible read.
Details and descriptions were impeccable. They made it easy to hold my attention and made it easy to not put the story down – I read it in one sitting. The characters were really well developed and had great chemistry. Their relationships with each other and others were fun at times, serious at others, and were attention grabbers.
I really, really enjoyed this story. It really made me sit straighter at times, made me gasp, made me think, and kept me guessing. This was an incredible read and one I would definitely recommend reading.

Get the laundry going. The crock pot on. A glass of sweet tea and a bottle of wine. Then crack it open. This one is hard to put down! Get ready for a 5 star read!
From the first few pages this reader was totally absorbed and engaged.
I loved the fast paced ride.
I loved the characters. They swept in and captured my attention. The sparks that fly between Harper and Finn had me wanting to have a 'sit down' with them from time to time. They needed a little nudge toward each other.
This was a fun twisting turning ride!

So far this is my least favorite of the series and, most definitely, my least favorite of female characters in the series. I had hope initially for Harper but I was done with her at 19%.

I loved this book. The beginning was a little hard to get into but after the first fifty pages I really had a hard time putting the book down. The main character, Harper, was very easy to like and I enjoyed following her story. I wish that the book had had a few more "suspects" for the deaths in the book, however I really loved the ending with the different ways the people were connected. I also wish that the characters had a little more back story that was revealed however the different plot twists and the last fifty pages really were intriguing. I felt like Harper's mother was a little plain of a character and not really part of the story at all. The Judge, my goodness, what a sordid secret he did have! A good read but I would really recommend that the next book have more viable "suspects" to keep the reader guessing instead of it being pretty apparent who did it, although the how or why was a mystery it would have been good to have more people to keep the reader in suspense. I would also recommend a little more back story for the characters so that the reader can feel like they "know" the characters.
