Yuru Camp, or Laid-Back Camp, is yet another series that I came across this year as an anime first, and it instantly became one of my favourites. It's a slice of life story about a group of high school girls who are into autumn/winter camping — and that's the whole pitch of the series. A lot of cuteness, fluffiness and coziness, it's just a story about girls having a good time off-season in various gorgeous Japanese camping sites. There are no challenges, no negativity or conflict — well, maybe except for how expensive the camping equipment is, and even then the girls manage to afford everything they need. And this is it! A meditative, tranquil story complete with scarves, bonfires, delicious food, gentle laughs and overall cuteness.
As an added bonus, you will also learn some stuff about camping — I never went, so I can't say how accurate all the technical stuff is, but it sounds legit and goes into quite a bit of detail.
Just like with Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, I would actually recommend the anime over manga first because it adapts the manga very faithfully, plus the colour, animation, voice acting and especially music helped elevate this series to an absolutely outstanding experience for me. But once you're done with the anime and start to miss the characters and their innocent camping fun, manga is a great option to revisit them.
As an added bonus, you will also learn some stuff about camping — I never went, so I can't say how accurate all the technical stuff is, but it sounds legit and goes into quite a bit of detail.

I decided to check this one out as it is getting an anime. And also because it looks absolutely delightful.
It is a bit like Yama no Susume, just a bit less of the cute girls doing cute camping/hiking, it is a tad more realistic. In this manga we have several girls who love camping. We start off with Rin, but later Nadeshiko pops in, followed by the camping club she joins.
I have to say I liked Rin way more than I did Nadeshiko. Rin was just a bit more relatable to me with her need to be alone and enjoy something on her own. Also the fact she adored reading so much. Nadeshiko just didn't get the social cues to stop being so gung-ho about things and push herself to people. Like when Rin was just having a good time alone, camping, and suddenly there was Nadeshiko.
I had a laugh at the camping club and their room. It was just soooo tiny, and I was amazed at the fact they were still able to stand there. The camping club really seems like a club I would join. It was fun to see their activities (how to go camping in a cheap way), and later on also their camping trip.
I found out some new things about camping (like that in Japan they have a tent you can open like an umbrella and then poof it is there).
The art is beautiful, the author really has a way with drawing backgrounds. You can just imagine yourself sitting there and enjoying the view.
There is a ton of camping, gorgeous art, hilarious situations, and friendship!

The title says it all. This is a low-key story about school girls who like to go camping. Nadeshiko is an eager novice who spends fairly educational segments learning about the basics of camping from the members of her school camping club. She is also trying to start a friendship with Rin, an experienced camper who avoids the club because she prefers to camp alone. I like the portrait of a loner who is not rude or antisocial, but just honest in how she likes to appreciate nature on her own. Gentle but fun. (And totally lacking in creepy fan service, yay!)

That was cute and quite relaxing (Iyashikei)! But also made me wanna go camping. Haven't been camping since I was 12 or sth!! :0
I imagined the story a bit differently – like, episodic adventures with them both camping together. And while it is "episodic adventures" theme, they don't actually camp each chapter. You'd think Rin is the protagonist (right girl on the cover), and while she is, there's much more from Nadeshiko's POV (left girl on the cover). Understandable, since Rin is a pro at camping, while Nadeshiko basically learns with the reader.
Although it's not exactly like I imagined it, it's still worth continuing.
Rin is more of a quiet, solo type, while Nadeshiko is very energetic. They're like hot and cold and the story is like a ping pong game between the two. But mostly slow-paced. (Which is good.)
I love all the info the reader gets. Not only about equipment, but also about all the locations they're visiting.
If you want to go camping yourself, this manga would be the best to take with. Because:
- camping info, in case you forgot or have no connection/battery
- book to read when you're bored

My world stopped and i fell in love with this series, binged watched non stop for 2 days and i still want more. 😍🥰
Yuru Camp is the right kind slice of life therapy for me. I am Rin in soo many ways, solitude, camping and book lover. I wished i worked in a bookshop and at the library like her.
Nadeshko is probly my happy, hungry and “makulit” self.
I love how she makes everything look delicous and her overall optimistic personality.
There is no character in this series that I don’t love. Aoi, mini Aoi, Aki, Ena and Chikuwa woof! Even Sensei and big sister Sakura. 👭👭👭
The art is beautiful and there’s a certain sense of peace and enjoyment watching this series. The soundtrack is awesome too, my faves are Seize the Day and Shiny days- all on repeat atm on my Spotify 🎶
At the same time i learned a heck lot about camping too!
I have loved camping ever since i was 10 when my dad made me a diy tent out of blankets in our backyard and i invited all my playmates. Went out camping every year as a girl scout and bought my own tent wd my first salary. 🏕❣️🌤🌊🌲
So while the world stopped and we were all on lockdown for 2weeks, i was out camping and exploring with the Outdoor Camping club and i love all of them!
Laid Back camp is definitely up there as one of my favorite shounens.

Es el primer volumen de manga que leo, y me ha gustado muchísimo.
Es super acogedor, los personajes son graciosos, carismáticos, la trama es sencilla de entender, aprendes mucho sobre camping y tipos de utensilios, me han dado ganas hasta de irme de campamento.
Se hace ameno de leer aunque la traducción que yo he leído no es en español de España y además hay tiempos verbales que no están bien escritas, pero ha sido tan adorable que no me ha influido para nada a la hora de disfrutar de la lectura.
Seguiré con el siguiente volumen sin dudarlo.

So cute! It is quite literally about girls who like to camp. Sometimes they have ice cream while camping, or collect a souvenir. It's a gentle, serene manga that is perfect reading for these stressful times.

This book was super cute and I loved it. I personally am not a camper type of person, like at all. I don't really enjoy being in nature BUT this was making me want to camp. Not in the cold but I did want to camp. This manga didn't really have a point but it was still super cute and I highly recommend. I had no idea though that there is an anime. It's on crunchyroll if you are interested.

This was so cute! I didn't know what to expect going into this manga simply because it focused on camping. I didn't think it was going to be something that I enjoyed, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not an outdoors person, but for some reason all the details about associated with winter camping were really interested. The dynamic between the characters was really charming especially between Rin and Nadeshiko. I'm excited to see how their friendship will continue to develop over the course of each volume. I will admit that the pacing of the story is slow because of the content, but if you're looking for something different to check out in regard to manga I highly recommend giving this one a try.

Với một đứa mê cắm trại như mình thì bộ truyện này giống như một viên ngọc quý vậy. Tuy mình mới đi cắm trại 4, 5 lần thôi nhưng rất khoái, nhưng vì còn gà mờ mấy khoản dựng lều nên chưa dám đi một mình bao giờ.
Mình cũng thích đi xe đạp hoặc xe máy đi xa thật xa một mình, thiếu điều chưa bao giờ ở lại cắm trại qua đêm như Rin.
Nơi mình đang ở bây giờ thì khó kiếm chỗ để cắm trại hơn trước, chỗ thuê lều cũng hiếm, với cả mình cũng hơi gà mờ nên hơi lười khoản dựng trại rồi nhổ trại một mình. Haha. Đọc mấy tập truyện này lại có hứng để xách ba lô lên và đi rồi. Lần này mình sẽ thử đi cắm trại một mình.
Mình vẫn luôn ước ao một ngày nào đó mình có thể đi cắm trại một mình và tận hưởng sự yên bình, tĩnh lặng của màn đêm bao trùm xuống và cả những khung cảnh thiên nhiên nên thơ, tươi đẹp. Rồi khi mình đã làm được lần đầu tiên thì chắc chắn sẽ có thêm nhiều lần nữa thôi. Người ta nói bước đầu tiên là bước khó nhất mà, qua được bước đầu rồi thì chẳng có gì trở ngại nữa. Cũng như khi mình lần đầu tiên tự đi phượt xuyên Hà Giang bằng xe máy, hay tự mày mò học vẽ tranh màu nước vậy.
Về tổng thể, truyện có một cái không khí rất chill, thư giãn, đúng như cái tên "thảnh thơi" trên tiêu đề. Tác giả đưa ra rất nhiều lời khuyên hữu ích về việc cắm trại. Và nét vẽ thì dễ thương hết biết.

So maybe this was boring to me because I live in the woods and all of this felt like common sense, but this was a dull story. The plot jumps all over the place, and half the time you don't know what's going on. There are little text boxes with conversations being sent (maybe) from one girl to another, but it takes forever to actually get a response or see if that's what even happening, so are they even texting one another? And there was this weird thing where every item's price is told, and I don't see the point for it at all. Why do we need to know how much three different types of sleeping bags cost? Why do we even need to know what one costs? We don't even know if these characters have jobs or parents or siblings because so much of the story is taken up with them flipping through camping catalogs.
The idea was interesting, but the execution was very meh.

Que l'auteur soit fan de camping c'est très bien mais est-ce que le monde avait vraiment besoin d'un manga consacré au camping ? Je ne crois pas.
D'un point de vue créatif c'est presque le niveau 0. Après, si vous avez besoin d'un manuel pour aller faire du camping au Japon, ma foi pourquoi pas...
