Warfell and Fey #3

Seven Devils

Rate this book
Warfell, Fey, Shadoweye, Bigfoot Bob and the Knights of Salvos are all cold blooded killers, no shame there. They just aim for those who have it coming. The people of Aleutha have begun calling them the Seven Devils and for good reason. This is book three of four in the Warfell and Fey case journals, documenting their strange and macabre manhunts. You might want to hold on to something.

A captivating adventure, and a delight to read.
For an author, a vivid imagination is a grand gift. Grander still is the capacity to beguile a reader such that a tale that can only be imagined supplants reality. Stone possesses both the gift and the capacity.
To my mind, the philosophical underpinning of the work carries a Cartesian hallmark in much the same way as the Matrix franchise.
The plot compares favourably to the best of Samurai fiction from the likes of Eiji Yoshikawa. There is also a hint of Tarantino about this writer.
The writing style, however, contains echoes the likes of Tolkien.
Character development is an art, and I was especially enamoured with the intelligence, strength and resilience of this book’s female protagonists.
My great-grandfather fought in Palestine during the great war of 1914 to 1918. He was a light horseman. His diaries speak little of heroics or the combat in which he engaged. Instead, those diary entries focus heavily on the camaraderie of soldiers and on the profound bond between warrior and steed. This book is similar in tone.
Excellent toil Mr Stone, I am envious of your talents.
I commend this title to all who take pleasure in reading an exciting story well written.
