Regina Scott started writing novels in the third grade. Thankfully for literature as we know it, she didn’t actually sell her first novel until she had learned a bit more about writing. Since her first Regency romance was published in 1998, her stories have traveled the globe, with translations in many languages including Dutch, German, Italian, and Portuguese. Frontier Matchmaker Bride was a fantastic conclusion to the series. I loved reading Beth's story. It was interesting to finally know what happened. I liked the suspense and how the story didn't seem rushed. The scene at the end was intense and I wasn't sure how they would get out of the situation.

A good read.

Love it when a matchmaker gets caught in a web of her own making! And Beth is a force to be reckoned with but she's so vibrant and sweet and cheerful it's hard for Hart to hold a grudge. Or even dissuade her. He's held a certain regard for the feisty matchmaker since her audacious declaration months ago. His unkind rebuff was meant to spurn...and protect...Beth. And while he still feels confirmed bachelorhood is the decent thing to do, Beth has stirred foreign longings that are proving hard to fight.

In addition to all the fun and sniping this deputy and his matchmaker bring to the story, there's a suspense plot that stirs everything up into an exciting frenzy. And Scott has dedicated some satisfying page time to the heroes and heroines of previous books in the series. Namely Beth's brothers -- all happily married but still trying to run her life anyway. So much fun! Each book reads well as a standalone but this is a great series that you'll want to catch up with if you enjoy historical romance with sass and humour and a hard-won happily ever after.

I was happy to finally read Beth's story! In the other books in the series there are little teasers that something happened between her and the deputy, and we finally learn what that was. As the only girl amid several brothers, Beth is the heart of the Wallin family, and has been sweet to her new sisters-in-law in the previous books. She really comes into her own in this story, and with her pursuit of a bride for Hart bringing her to town, she realizes how much she enjoys living there and having a little break from her brothers. The pace is slow but steady as she tries one tactic then another to get Hart interested in courtship, but even though he humors her attempts, his fears prevent him from moving forward. It was sweet to see them grow comfortable in each other's presence and harbor secret feelings they think are unrequited. The case Hart is trying to solve of newcomers being attacked by a gang brings some action and an element of mystery to the plot, especially when Beth insists on getting involved. There is also a subplot with Scout, the friend of one of the Wallin brothers, who returns to town wealthy from the gold fields and falling prey to the fortune-hunting of the local seamstress. I hope that one of the final books in this series will include Scout finding love. All the books in the Frontier Bachelors series can be read as stand-alones and in any order.

Regina Scott brings her Frontier Bachelor series to a wonderful conclusion with this book. Most of the books feature the Wallin siblings, five brothers and 1 daughter, Beth, who is the youngest of the family. Beth Wallin has played matchmaker for her whole family and now she has Deputy Hart McCormick in her sights. Even though she has had feelings for Hart for years, she knows that he has none for her and she is bound an determined to find him a wife. Hart, however, has no intentions of getting married. Ever.

In the meantime, there is a crime to solve and Beth is determined to help Hart do his job, much to his dismay. Things escalate and Hart just may have to admit Beth Wallin has a place in his heart after all.

Regina Scott has created a delightful ending to a wonderful series with this effort and she definitely saved the best for last. I have enjoyed the character of Beth Wallin in the previous books and was very much looking forward to her story. I was not disappointed. Sorry to say goodbye to this precious family.

*My thanks to the publishers for a copy of this book. The opinion stated is entirely my own.

What a thoroughly wonderful story! I have enjoyed this entire series, yet Frontier Matchmaker Bride is definitely one of my favorites! I simply adored both of these main characters. I couldn’t help but read this novel quickly because I was so invested and hoping for their happily ever after.

This story is part of a series, however, it can definitely be read as a stand alone novel if you have not read the other books.

Frontier Matchmaker Bride really had it all for me. There was great romantic tension and attraction between Beth and Hart. They also seemed like a match that could never be, based on Hart’s past. A thread of danger also ran throughout the story and the author did a very nice job creating some tense situations. This story was a lot of fun to read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This is the final installment in the Frontier Bachelors series. Each of the books is its own story, but I have really enjoyed watching the fictional town of Wallin Landing grow as the family members married and the stories intertwined. This novel focuses on Beth, and our matchmaker finally gets her happily ever after.

While I have loved Beth’s character from earlier books, it wasn’t until this one that I got much insight into Hart. Reading of his difficult childhood and the backstory of how he ended up in Seattle only made the ending that much sweeter for the kind, honorable lawman. I appreciated his struggle with trusting God for the future; knowing pain is a possibility, sometimes it is hard for him to let go and really live and I think many readers can relate to this.

This romantic novel spends a lot of time centered on love, but not just the emotion; true love, the kind that considers the other person’s needs first, that goes out of its way to seek the best for the loved one, is the kind demonstrated in Beth and Hart. I love that the emotions are involved, of course, but seeing how it is so much more than just a feeling is beautiful.

Those who have enjoyed previous books will love this conclusion, but it is a standalone story that can be read with no trouble for those who missed earlier novels in the series. It is a sweet story of trusting God and taking the risk of loving again. I highly recommend it, even for younger romance readers.

I received a review copy of this book from the author but was under no obligation to post a positive review. The opinions expressed are both honest and my own.

When it comes to matchmaking, Beth Wallin is the most determined woman to find brides for all the eligible bachelors in Seattle. After all, she had much success with matching her brothers! She's tenacious with one goal in mind, a happily-ever-after for every lonely heart. But there's one just as stubborn and determined to stay single; Deputy Hart McCormick! He's one hard nut to crack with his unwillingness to bend to Beth's will. Having rejected her affection a year ago, he's even more immune to her charms. So when Beth sets out to find the perfect bride for the Deputy, will he be able to deter her or will their stubborn hearts warm towards each other? Perhaps God has already done the matchmaking!

"He'd captured bandits, stopped vandals, and settled disputes with hostile natives. Who would have thought the one thing to terrify him was the thought of loving a pretty woman named Beth Wallin?"

I loved following along the Wallin family in Regina's books. Getting to know Beth over the course of this series has been a lot of fun. She's almost got her head in the clouds when it comes to her idea of happily-ever-after. Her ideals for romance, while sweet & charming, don't always turn out like the poetry books she reads! But that doesn't stop her from trying. I like her character; determined, stubborn, idealistic, with a heart of romance beating beneath her exterior. Hart, on the other hand, has seen the other side of life. Catching criminals, chasing gang members, and jailing law breakers is his job so he's a bit more hardened. Love a brooding hero because there's so much to redeem about them in the pages of a story! His rough past has lead him to the life of crime-fighting instead of crime-doing. And tragedy has held his heart captive behind a wall that's impenetrable. I knew from a previous book that there was something between Beth & Hart, and seeing it played out in front of my eyes was a lot of fun. Fighting against their attraction to each other just made the ending the more sweeter! Even I fell in love with Hart the more I got to know him, but then again, brooding heroes are some of my favorite! I would recommend reading the whole series so you get to know each character and follow along with the Wallin family. Though each one can stand alone just fine as Regina gives enough backstory in every book. It's one thing I love about series books, getting to be a part of a family and watching it grow. I have a couple of books to catch up on & after reading this, they are the next ones on my list! Regina is one author who knows how to pull you in and keep you until the end. I always look forward to whatever she writes!

Frontier Matchmaker Bride by Regina Scott
Frontier Bachelors Series Book Eight
Beth Wallin is the youngest of six, and the only girl, and even though she's been playing matchmaker for her brothers—she's single. Ever since she first laid eyes on the deputy as a young girl, she had her first crush...and thought he was the only man for her. On the other hand—he didn't return her feelings. Now, to join a local ladies society in Seattle, her first assignment to prove herself is to find that very same deputy...a wife.

Deputy Sheriff Hart McCormick wants nothing to do with love. Beth may be a beauty, sweet, kind, and all things wonderful, but his past is enough to keep Hart single. He just has to find a way to stop the pushy beauty from trying to complete her mission.

This book was fantastic—as was this whole series—but it was sad to say goodbye. I wasn't ready to leave Wallin Landing behind. Plus, Love Inspired is ending their Historical line...so this is also the last historical from Regina Scott. Thankfully she self-publishes so I can continue reading her books.

Frontier Matchmaker Bride is sadly the last of the Frontier Bachelors series. I love, love, love this series and wish I did not have to say goodbye. With that being said, this is a great way to end the series and loved getting to know Beth and Hart. I found myself giggling a few times while reading this. It is just a good, fun, clean, and delightful read.

I give Frontier Matchmaker Bride 5+ stars and highly recommend it. I hope Regina Scott releases a new series again soon.

I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Yay! I completed yet another Love Inspired Historical series... this time, eight books in total.

I enjoyed the love - story of Seattle matchmaker Beth Wallin and Deputy Hart McCormick. It was a slow moving/burning, sweet romance novel. There was a little extra excitement towards the latter part of the book, involving criminal activity, which added a little more pep into this story.

Overall, it was a good read... no pun intended :P

this is Beth Wallin and Hart McCormick's story.
Beth Wallin blew out a breath as she stood in front of the Kellogg Brothers' mercantile, a cold breeze tugging at her feathered hat. Hart McCormick always rode down Second Avenue between ten and noon on Tuesdays. She'd studied his movements every time she came to town, and the pattern hadn't changed in the ten years she'd known him.
A black horse, sides glossy, head high and proud, trotted toward her. The man riding him was no less impressive-carriage firm and controlled, gaze sweeping the street. She knew those eyes could be as dark and unyielding as a rifle barrel.
She made herself step to the edge of the boardwalk and raised a hand. "Deputy McCormick! A word, if you please."
Deputy Hart McCormick gaze swung her way, and the world seemed to narrow until she could see nothing but him. Shoulders broad in his worn black leather duster, the flash of metal that was the badge on his chest. Long legs in denim and black boots. Her breath was hard to find as he guided his horse across the street and reined in in front of her.
he'd been the embodiment of the heroes in the romantic adventure novels their father had left her and her brothers.
Will pretty, sweet-natured Beth Wallin heal Hart McCormick's heart? read this book to find out.

This is something like number *EIGHT* in a series, so be prepared to be completely inundated with happily married family, friends, and acquaintances. The author does a good job with sharing a lot of their back stories, though, so it's not like being thrown into a room full of people with no introductions.

Beth is... weird. She's supposedly the glue that holds her family together, except they don't need her. She's supposedly the one who baked and cooked and took care of her four (five?) brothers... but she doesn't ever cook or bake or clean or... *ANYTHING* in this book. Mostly she's a busybody.

As Seattle's self-proclaimed matchmaker, Beth is approached by the Ladies' society, which feels the local deputy sheriff should be married and setting an example for the city. Beth cringingly takes him on for them... but only because she doesn't want someone else to meddle with him. Because she *LIKES* him. Hart has always been her heartthrob. And a year ago, so made an overture to him... and he shot it down, flat.

The book is awkward in that she's decided to Pygmalion him (improve his dress, his manners, his grasp on literature, his culture, etc.)... and he's a GUY. And a DEPUTY, and the man has things to do. Like figure out who's beating up the people coming in off ships at the docks. So the fact that he spends SOOOOOO much time with Beth is kind of... off? It's odd. I mean, it works, but it's... odd.

I did love how Beth could hold her own, stood up to people, acted a bit like Jane Austen's 'Emma' character, and didn't let anything stop her once she had a dream or a goal. And I really liked Hart's character - he was strong but willing to go out of his comfort zone and try something (a LOT of things) that were new to him.

The ending is *FAR* more romantic than most 'Love, Inspired' books, too - almost over-the-top and cringy, to me, but... I'm a realist, not a romantic. Still, it was definitely a fun read. I'm eager to find out if I have any of the other ones in the series in the bags of LI Historicals that I have in the closet...

Yet another fun historical romance by Regina Scott! I’ve only read Would-be Wilderness Wife (book 2) from the Frontier Bachelors series but this eighth book in the series read like a stand-alone. There also was enough background provided throughout this book to give the reader some insight into each of the seven couples’ relationships from previous books. I also enjoyed the reference to another character from Regina Scott’s Regency series that I loved. The book is well-written with a nicely paced plot, surprising twists and turns in the plot, a bit of suspense, and wonderful and lovable characters. Anyone who enjoys a good historical romance set in the West during 1870s will thoroughly enjoy this book.

Beth is the youngest of six siblings and the only girl in her family. She’s successfully matched all of her older brothers with their wives and now is asked to match Seattle’s deputy sheriff with a woman. Beth is creative, resourceful, spunky, energetic, full of optimism, and tender-hearted. Hart is the deputy sheriff who is honor-bound, loyal, tough, and hard-working but also hiding/running away from his tainted past and mistakes. A little intrigue of increase in crime by the docks keeps Hart busy as Beth keeps busy at trying to matchmake Hart with the eligible ladies in Seattle. The secondary characters that include Beth’s five older brothers and their wives, the Literary Society ladies and their husbands, and other business owners make up a thriving town with endless possibilities.

I’m sad that Love Inspired Historical line of books will soon be discontinued since I’ve enjoyed so many of its books, especially Regina Scott’s.

I was given a copy of this book by the author. I was not required to write a favorable review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

MY REVIEW

I am writing this review with a tear in my eye! This is the last book in the series, as far as I know anyway, since the Harlequin is phasing out five mass market original series and the Love Inspired Historical is one of them!

I have really enjoyed this series and am so sad to see it end. The Wallin family has so much love and faith for each other as well as other people. I can highly recommend this book but you really should read it in order to totally fall in love yourself and not ruin any spoilers by reading out of order.

I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review. This review are my true feelings and opinions.

The meddling Literary Society ladies have commissioned Beth to find a match for Deputy Sheriff Holt, not aware of their history. In an attempt to protect him from machinations of a matchmaker who does not care as much for him as she does, Beth agrees.

Beth has been in love with Holt since she was just a young girl. And once she was old enough she told him that but he rejected her. I really liked how spunky Beth is and the way she cares for everyone around her. She is also determined and wants desperately to be able to help Holt solve the mystery of the gang who preys on the immigrants visiting Seattle.

Holt has a colorful past and doesn’t want to risk being the cause of his loved ones getting hurt ever again. And so he closes off his heart, or at least attempts to, determined to never marry. I enjoyed the way he had to learn to trust God and to overcome his past.

Author Regina Scott has a way with words that makes reading every word enjoyable. The ending was just perfect!

Here is a quote from the book:

She beamed at him as if she had no idea she’d boxed him into a canyon and was standing guard at the entrance. “Just think, I’ll be right at hand to help whenever you need.”

That was what he feared.

In order to join the Literary Society, Beth Wallin must agree to play matchmaker for Sherriff Hart McCormick. There's just one small problem - he has no interest in finding a wife. Beth, however, is not one to back down from a challenge.

Regina Scott has written another heartwarming Wallin family book. I had been looking forward to reading Beth Wallin's story and I really enjoyed it. I was excited to see Beth play matchmaker again and to see the exciting results. This is a great tale of matchmaking, with a little bit of crime-solving thrown in.

clean romance

A sweet story of finding love after a loss. Although the losses were different for the two main characters, it was love that helps to find new ways to continue life.

Regina Scott crests well developed plots and characters that become lifelike. This stand alone book in a wonderful series welcomes the reader into the world created by the author.

I suggest reading in sequence as I find it allows more of the backstory of the other characters in the book.

This is also a great “opening” for the new series Frontier Matches…The Perfect Mail-Order Bride.

This was such a fun book. It was a battle of wills between Beth, who was determined to find a wife for Hart and Hart, who was just as determined not to marry. Beth's personality was so cute you couldn't help but love her, and Hart was trying to focus on doing his job. Add a mystery or two into the mix and you have a delightful read. I would definitely recommend it.

Another good book by Regina Scott. I'm sad to see the series Frontier Bachelors close. Who would have thought the Matchmaker sister would have so much trouble finding her match? Quiet a few arguments and mysteries through the book kept me interested.
I do hope the Series will be started up again. I was hoping Scout could find a match also.
