Police detective Lucas has become consumed with tracking down the deranged killer, known as Mechanic, and bringing the murderer to justice. Nothing else matters, not even his wife. His marriage is falling apart.
Mechanic has not killed for eight months and the trail has gone cold, then Lucas receives a terrifying letter. In a desperate bid to reignite the case, he tries to convince his boss to mount an operation in Baton Rouge where the letter was posted.
But was the letter really sent by Mechanic?
Not knowing where to turn, with his marriage in turmoil and his career on the rocks, Lucas begins to spiral out of control and when Mechanic meets the head of a drug smuggling cartel the situation takes a grave turn
Meanwhile, a bizarre set of murders are taking place in Vegas and Detective Rebecca Moran is put on the case. She will stop at nothing to make a name for herself.
Is there a link between the murders and Mechanic?
Can Lucas apprehend the killer this time or will Mechanic remain one step ahead?
Now I don’t know about you, but when I pick up the next book in a series I do so with trepidation. I’m always concerned that the next book won’t live up to expectations. I actually loved Those That Remain by Rob Ashman, the first book in the Mechanic series and I would go as far as to say it’s one of my top reads of 2017, so unfortunately for the author I was expecting great things for In Your Name. I’m not going to keep you in suspense as far as I’m concerned Rob Ashman has only gone and done it again and written another dark and gripping addition??? to the Mechanic series. This is one crime series you don’t want to miss!
Detective Lucas’s every waking moment is consumed with catching the cold hearted and sadistic serial killer known as The Mechanic, even if it means putting his career and marriage in jeopardy. From the opening chapter where Lucas is stood over a grave, you get an immediate sense of foreboding and just know things are about to get a lot worse for Lucas as he tries to bring the mechanic to justice. Poor Lucas as if he didn’t suffer enough in the last book, he returns to his job a broken man in both body and spirit, but like the saying goes “you cant keep a good man down” Lucas is filled with rage and won’t rest until he catches Mechanic.
Just like the previous book Mechanic is one seriously twisted and cunning killer always managing to keep one step ahead of Lucas, taunting him at every opportunity. Rob Ashman has created a monster there’s no doubt about it, but the Mechanic is a complex characters and once again I did find myself having just a smidgin of sympathy for them especially when you know their back story. I’m so intrigued by Mechanic, they are one seriously sick and twisted individual, I was hoping this would be a long running series alas it looks like there is only going to be one more book in this highly compelling series.
I thought this series couldn’t get any better but I’m pleased to report I was wrong, if anything this book is darker, and definitely more gruesome, the pace is relentless so you don’t have time to catch your breath before the next big shock comes along. I should point out all though Rob Ashman is a British author this novel reads very much like it’s been written by an American, the settings are authentic and the scenes frighteningly disturbing just the way I like my crime thrillers. In Your Name is fast paced, brutal and addictive, each book leaves you desperately wanting more, luckily we don’t have to wait long as the third book in the Mechanic series Pay The Penance is out the beginning of August and I can’t wait!
Well after the absolutely belting finale of Rob Ashman’s debut novel, Those that Remain, I was holding my breath hoping that he hadn’t thrown everything into it and burnt out because it was one of my top three books of 2016. So I was both eager and apprehensive starting on chapter 1. Well Rob Ashman definitely hasn’t burnt out, this man is on fire! I will say to you though do read this as a series not as a stand alone. Something bad had certainly gone down as Lieutenant Lucas stood along side an open grave while a priest talked in the background, again he is a broken man. The story then drops back 9 weeks to the 21st March 1983 and his first day returning to work after an eight long months recovering from the injuries he received from The Mechanic, a sophisticated, intelligent and ruthless serial killer. A delivery to work with a single serving of a sugar packet was enough to tip this already damaged officer over the edge, conformation to him that The Mechanic was not dead. The Mechanic was taunting him and wasn’t done yet and neither was he. I closed this book and felt totally spent as it is absolutely stunning, sorry but I love The Mechanic, yes ok I know The Mechanic is a ruthless killing machine but you just got to be in awe of their coolness. The thing is there wasn’t a lot in life that really mattered to them and now they had scores to settle but being who they are it is done with style. A grand puppeteer that knows which strings to pull and make people dance the tune and dance they do. There are all my favourite characters from book 1 in this story but now baring the permanent physical and mental scars of their brief encounter with this killing machine that needs a regular fix of death like an addict. The writing has such a natural style so you aren’t thinking about what may happen in the story you just savour every moment as you read it. It is violent and detailed because how else could you describe the sheer pleasure The Mechanic gets from each kill. They savour every single moment and Rob Ashman captures those perfect highs. There is also a wicked dark humour to this writing that just tops it all off. Just perfect! A massive must read series.
In Your Name is book two in the Mechanic trilogy so I would definitely recommend reading Those That Remain before hand.
I know I’m not supposed to probably like Mechanic as after all they are a killer, a very cold one at that, but in a way I admire them. Mechanic is very much a tough nut. The way they handle themselves would show even the toughest of guys up. No matter what predicament Mechanic finds themselves in they keep their cool and is very logical in their thinking.
Mechanic certainly seems to be fairing better than Lucas when we catch back up with them in this book. Lucas eats, sleeps and breathes Mechanic. He literally can not rest until he catches up with the killer. He thinks of nothing else.
This is such an action packed read. Fast paced with plenty of thrills and chills. It certainly won’t be for the faint hearted readers among us but for readers that love a gutsy and gritty read, they will absolutely love it. I did and can’t wait to see whats going to happen in the finale.
My thanks to Bloodhound Books for an advanced readers copy. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
Seriously, this book will stay with me for a very long time indeed, I was blown away by Rob Ashman's intricate plotting. Where do I start in writing a review? The answer is, I truly have no idea because to review this powerful book would give away too many spoilers to the first book in the series, which I also enjoyed very much. Those That Remain should be read before you read this book otherwise it will definitely spoil your enjoyment and feel for the superb characters Rob has created.
I don't think I have ever read a book that has gripped me as much as this one - and that is no exaggeration. I was reading until 3am and then up again at 5am to finish it. There was no way I could have left it alone until the evening.
In Your Name is full of non-stop twist and turns that I dare anyone to predict. For this book could never, ever be described as predictable. It is an extremely intricately woven tale concerning a vicious serial killer.
Rob Ashman is fast becoming one of my favourite authors - not only can he spin wondrous, exceptional yarns but he's a truly nice guy in real life too as a recent trip to Harrogate Crime Festival revealed.
Can't wait for the third book in this trilogy and I really can't praise this book enough. But don't take my word for it, read it for yourself.
Police Lieutenant Lucas is recovering from the devastating blows, dealt by Mechanic. His thirst for revenge knows no boundaries, putting not only his job at risk …
Introduction
Mechanic Trilogy #2
The book opens with a shattering event: a funeral. Whose we do not know but whoever it is, it has profoundly shocked Florida State Police Lieutenant Lucas. It is hard to realise that it is only nine weeks since his return to work, following his (presumed) recovery from the blows, dealt by Mechanic in Those That Remain. Lucas struggles to perform his duties because he has been and still is plagued by inner demons who “were fuelled by guilt and he channelled his guilt into a boiling rage.” Now, Lucas is a single-issue cop with one thing on his mind: revenge! Strangely enough, these emotions of guilt and revenge are also the motivating forces behind Mechanic’s actions as the serial killer plots to slaughter the “only victims of consequence,” Lucas and his predecessor, Harper.
Storyline
After escaping from Florida, Mechanic is aware of the necessity to lie low, well below the police radar. Apart from personal problems, there is also the matter of plotting a revenge against the two cops who were unable to bring Mechanic down but were responsible for a considerable and agonising knock to Mechanic’s confidence. Survival for Mechanic was easy, but dealing with the personal problems is difficult and heartbreaking to Mechanic. The serial killer has only one choice: to move to Las Vegas where a job is easy to find and the people tend to ask no questions. These eight months have not exactly been how Mechanic had intended, especially since the killer’s natural instincts still had to be fed. Drug dealers served that purpose and many died a horrible death to satisfy Mechanic’s lust for murder. That is, until Mechanic decides to become the bodyguard of Texan Harry Silverton: he is in Vegas to do some business and have a good time, but this includes getting into trouble and fully expecting that Mechanic will save his arse.
Meanwhile, Lucas is frustrated because no one at work attaches importance to a letter which he is convinced Mechanic sent – his boss prefers to believe Mechanic is dead. Agonised by his friend and colleague Bassano’s injuries causing him to leave the force, Lucas now has only one person to turn to and that is his predecessor Harper. Together the two men head out of Florida for a road trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where Mechanic supposedly posted the letter and withdrew money. We are fully aware Mechanic is in Las Vegas and not intending to stay in hiding for much longer. However, none of the protagonists know that there is a new player on the field: the highly intelligent and super ambitious Rebecca Moran, who has just started to work for the Las Vegas Police. Mechanic and Moran have yet to meet but is it possible that finally, the serial killer will have found someone able to stop the slaughtering spree and apprehend the murderer? Will Lucas get his revenge? Time to find out …
My Thoughts
After closing the book, I could not contain the thoughts whirling through my mind. What a strong successor to Those That Remain! Wow! The intricate plot line with its outbursts of violence set against the dark side of Las Vegas controlled by organised crime … Rob Ashman, as the first book is such a terrific read, I seriously wondered how a sequel could surpass Mechanic #1 but you did it! This thriller is high velocity, full of action, and keeps you guessing at every twist and turn. There is also the character of Mechanic who has definitely thrown away the ‘daddy issues’ but upped the killer’s brutality. As in the first Mechanic book, we witness a softer side to Mechanic and find out more about where the killer is coming from but, even though we can empathise with Mechanic, we are also cognisant of the serial killer’s destructive natural forces that seem to multiply with every shocking event in the book. It is extremely gripping to witness the events in this spellbinding thriller with its occasional glint of dark humour – and I’m dying to get my hands on the next instalment!
My Rating 4.8 out of 5 stars This is book 2 in the mechanic trilogy and I would strongly recommend they are read in order. This book picks up where book 1 ended (and began) where Lucas has returned to work after a lengthy period of rehabilitation following events in book 1. He is feeling very fragile and disillusioned and the situation is not helped by Brassano severing all ties with him. It is very difficult to review this book without spoiling either book 1 or this book for the readers so I will say little about the actual story. The book moves along very quickly and, as I have come to expect from Rob Ashman, there is a LOT going on and the suspense builds throughout the book with many twists and turns along the way. Expect the unexpected and be prepared for any outcome this is a psychological thriller at its best. Lucas teams up with 2 friends, to make a formidable threesome, ready to take down the mechanic and anyone else that gets in the way. Will he succeed? And if he does what will be the price? Complex characters that continue to develop and all are realistic with unique personalities and a human quality that some authors miss. An awesome read. Many thanks to Bloodhound Books for the advance copy.
Oh my, that mechanic is sooo bad. Poor Lucas is now obsessed with catching this evil killer. He ropes in Harper and off they go to find and kill mechanic. No more talk of justice, this one is too nasty to be left alive.
Meanwhile in Las Vegas, brand new detective Rebecca Moran is investigating the brutal murders of three drug dealers that just don't make sense. She thinks her boss is an idiot and these deaths are so not typical drug killings.
Eventually Lucas and Harper trace mechanic to Las Vegas and hatch an elaborate plot to 'catch and kill'. Unfortunately mechanic is onto them and sends back a macabre message. Moran is intrigued. she is pretty sharp and soon connects the dots. She knows why Lucas is here. She wants in, this catch could really light up her career. The game is afoot but, oh dear, things go horribly wrong and Lucas is almost broken by the price of his failure.
This book is darker than the first. We see just how twisted mechanic really is. There are no simple shots to the head. These killings are brutal in the extreme and its not over yet. On to book 3.
Having enjoyed the first in this trilogy 'those that remain' which I thought was a good serial killer thriller, I have to admit being very confused about this follow up. The first book presented a serial killer with deep psychological issues which resulted in a specific modus operandi.
In Your Name, felt like the author had just completely thrown all of that set-up out of the window to write an action thriller where it would appear we are supposed to root for that same killer despite them murdering civilians at will - albeit without any of the psychological complexity previously provided.
Unfortunately as the character together with the sub genre completely changed I found I was unable to follow along with the ride. Not sure the third book, currently sitting on my kindle, will get read.
WOW! In Your Name is book number two in the Mechanic Trilogy and I would highly suggest you read them in order. This is a brilliant follow on from the first book Those That Remain. I loved it! I am actually loving this series. Brilliant stories.
Mechanic has to be the most twisted, clever and evil killer I have ever read about! Seriously… I loved the setting, all the old familiar characters and even the new characters and the theme within the book. Very cleverly written, easy to read, contains to short chapters and bloody brilliant! Yet again I devoured this book in a day, another well deserved five stars. I cannot wait to see what the final book will be like, but if its anything like the previous two I already know I will love it! I would highly recommend this series to you all. But please read in order as the second book does refer back to the first in parts and I don’t want you to ruin it for yourself. Go buy this series now! You will not forget this series in a hurry… Brilliant.
Thank goodness I didn't have long to wait to read the second instalment of The Mechanic Series. if you liked Those That Remain, this is meatier, grittier and spine tingling alarming.
We catch up with Lucas and The Mechanic, but in different circumstances and The Mechanic is unleashing chaos and bloodshed wherever the trail leads. I absolutely loved this and found it difficult to put the book down. The plot lines are at times stomach churning, but not overly so. Well maybe they are for you, but to tell the story they are sublime. You are so caught up with Lucas and where The Mechanic leads, he follows. In this book, there is a greater insight into The Mechanic leaving you with a feeling of understanding the character even if you don't condone it. This is one of the characters you aren't supposed to like, but for various reasons you do. Rob has excelled himself within the pages of In Your Name, an absolutely cracking and enthralling read, with the book setting in Vegas was perfectly places for the crimes and brought an added dimension to the sleaze and retribution. The writing style is dark, delicious and perfection. Bring on Book 3, Publication Date 8th August 2017
Rob Ashman. In Your Name. Book 2 in the series. Still on the chase of finding mechanic, the female mass murderer. The first book was great and this book is even better in my opinion. I love the fact that it has short chapters that's a personal favourite for me. This book is the best I've read this year from start to finish it had me gripped. If you only read one book this year make it this one. 5* 18 July 2017.
Wow what a book and this series just continues to get better.. many thanks to Rob Ashman for such a brilliant reading experience and again another 5 Star book ...so here we go on to the next / last in this fabulous trilogy ..totally recommended
This is one of the best books I have read. The first in the series was a great book but this one blew me away. The second in the mechanic trilogy and what a superb follow on and again finished on a cliff hanger. Rob Ashman is a genius with this book
I would say this book is not quite up to the standard of the first but that one was exceptional. It's a very good thriller in it's own right with lots of thrills from the outset but, for me, it relies a little on the brilliance of the first book. The hero's are as likeable and humorous as ever, even if they do some pretty unusual things.. Some reviewers are highlighting language errors as the setting is in the U.S. and the author is British. Sure, there are a couple of mistakes but it's not at all as distracting as they suggest. It couldn't be; it's a page turner! Lastly, as I'm writing this review after already finishing the next in the series, so I can also highly recommend book three too! That book you won't want to miss.
In Your name is the second book in The Mechanic Trilogy you must read book one first. You can check out my review here. http://chellesbookreviews.blogspot.co...
Crikey what a Trilogy this is turning out to be, once again the author brings us another dark and twisted read. Where we catch up sadistic killer better know has The Mechanic who hasn't killed for eight months.
We are now aware of who the killer is so we don't see the repetitive use of the word Mechanic like I said about the first book. which for me made In Your Name a whole lot better. In fact when I started this book I was saying to myself WOW I am impressed and now that I have finished it I am like OMG this really needs to be a film!
Once again this isn't for the fainthearted but if you are like me and love a gruesome story then you are in for a treat when we follow Police detective Lucas on a roller coaster journey who is obsessed with catching this seriously cold killer.
You will be racing to the end itching to find out what is going to happen. Now I cant wait to read the final book in the trilogy I have the feeling it is going to be something very exciting.
This certainly ticked all the boxes for me giving it 5 massive stars.
With series there's always the question as to if the next books will be as good as the first one. Well, Rob Ashman did not disappoint and delivered a knock out sequel to THOSE THAT REMAIN in book two of the Mechanic Trilogy - IN YOUR NAME.
Lucas has been pouring himself into trying to catch Mechanic, but after 8 months of no murders, the case begins to go cold. When he receives a terrifying and disturbing letter, post marked from Baton Rouge, he tries to convince the police chief to move the operation there - he is convinced it's Mechanic.
His life is spiraling out of control. His obsession with this case is ruining his marriage and his job, but he's convinced he can catch Mechanic and finally not be one step behind. But when the head of a drug cartel joins forces with the killer, things take an awful turn for the worse. Murders are occurring over in Vegas now, with Detective Rebecca Moran on the case. She's determined to stop these murders and the reader can't help but wonder, are these the work of Mechanic?
This book did a fantastic job of keeping the characters human. Lucas' inner struggles feel real and you empathize with him over his marriage and work issues. Meanwhile, Mechanic is a serial killer you never thought you'd like, but that is one awesome character. After the twist at the end of book one, I loved the killer even more. The new characters are also well developed and Ashman does a great job letting the readers connect with them.
Warning, this is not for the squeamish. If you aren't a fan of blood and gore then I'd recommend a different book series to read. However, hardcore crime fans will love this one!
I give this 5/5 stars! Let's keep this series strong and I can't wait for book three!
Big thanks to Bloodhound Books and Sarah Hardy for the advanced ebook copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
When I had finished Those That Remain I was itching to get my hands on In Your Name the second in the Mechanic series. Was it worth the wait? Holy Hell Yeah! Good Grief, once you begin reading this your stomach will be lurching from side to side until the end.
It begins with a funeral that Detective Lucas is attending .. it is obvious from this that he will be in for a tough time even though the occupant of the grave is so far unknown.
Hell bent on catching the Mechanic after previous encounters with the killer it becomes the whole mission in his life. The Mechanic is cold, calm and calculating but written in such a way that I am fascinated by their actions and full of admiration on the thought processes. Always one step ahead of Lucas it makes for a thrilling chase.
This is dark, disturbing, gruesome and absolutely wonderful for a crime fan! It’s difficult to rave about a book that requires a certain level of mystique to be retained.
If you are of a sensitive nature some of the bloody scenes may be vomit inducing but stick with it because it is SO brilliant. Rob Ashman has excelled himself, the first book had a lot to live up to but the deliciously sleazy undertones of Vegas make this an absolute belter. And that ending aaaaaaaargh .. I am counting the days until the next book which I am delighted to say I will be reviewing!
My thanks to Rob and Sarah at Bloodhound books for my copy which I read and reviewed voluntarily. If I could give more than five stars I would!
This is book two of the trilogy and you really do need to read book one, Those That Remain, first. You also need to be prepared to invest in book three afterwards to complete the story. If you haven't read book one, please also stop reading this review as it might contain spoilers for you. After the "shenanigans" which ended book one, this second instalment deals initially with the fallout. Lucas is returning to work. Still bruised and battered both physically and emotionally. But still with a determination to bring Mechanic to justice once and for all. His kind of justice! He's just finished debrief from the FBI when an envelope lands on his desk; the contents of which both leave him reeling and with just the spark he needs to reignite the Mechanic case. Sadly, his boss disagrees and, after a bit of a heated argument, Lucas leaves with his tail between his legs, minus his gun and badge. But suspension isn't going to stop him and he turns to the one person best placed to assist him in what looks like it's going to be a wild ride which takes them cross country to Vegas of all places where there are some pretty dodgy things happening. Sometimes in a trilogy the middle book is the weakest. Sometimes its only purpose is to take what book one gave, mix things up, introduce a few new characters, throw in a few curve balls, and set things up for the final showdown which would be book three. This book does NOT follow this pattern. Instead it's just as wild a ride as book one with Mechanic, having exhausted her previous MO, instead turns her trade to private security. OK so I had to swallow some anomalies and perceived liberties that I thought the author took along the way. That was however until I realised that we are in the 80s and the technology I was expecting to link stuff hasn't arrived yet so I apologise to the author for doubting him initially. He also kept me on my toes as I found gaps forming that were initially uncomfortable to me as they appeared to just move the plot along without rhyme or reason. Until that is, a few pages later when I really just how mindblowingly amazing at plotting the author had been. Oh my, if he ever turned to crime, I bet no one would ever catch him! I'm not going to say much more here as most of my points from my review for book one are still valid and, in any case, if you've got this far, you've already read book one so you know what to expect. Me, I'm on to book three next...
I couldn't breathe... ..A spinechilling..story ...that will make your hair stand on end ...Brilliant writing
Book Two in the trilogy...Lucas is in recovery its been 8 months since the madness the mechanic left behind..Bassano who was tortured now has one arm ..many surgeries later Bassanos face is healing ,but having to move back in with his parents and give up the job he loved so much has almost broken him..until the day he decided he wants his revenge...Lucas is fuelled with a rage so deep, so dark...he wants the mechanic so badly..its eating him up inside..Harper still off the booze pushes Lucas buttons and Harper and Lucas go in search of the twisted ,murdering mechanic..The mechanic though is one step ahead of the game..This is what it is to this psychopath a game..The mechanic loves to kill.Bassano is back he wants his revenge...as well ..As the warnings and the killings begin ..Lucas ,Harper and Bassano know they've made a big mistake..When they try to rectify it..There's a new message Pay the penance..but what is the penance? The penance is one that Lucas will never forget ..It will stay with him..haunt him. ..The mechanic is one of the most horrific individuals your path would cross..When death arrives in this place...It is evil..dark unforgiving and absolutely terrifying.. The mechanic is the worst kind of evil...and now there is more to come..Oh My God ..I finished this in under a day...Rob Ashman has written the most chilling serial killer..you could ever meet..The mechanic is poised..planned and poisonous.. The mechanic has spiralled so far out of control..its absolutely terrifying..... yet brilliant... Rob Ashman writes a story that will send shivers down your spine...book 3 cannot get here till August..Omg please please Lucas stop this B##ch.....Absolutely brilliant reading....The Mechanic... will give you nightmares ....
This is the second book in the Mechanic trilogy by Rob Ashman - I gave the first book five stars so was really looking forward to reading this book, the second in the trilogy to see where the story was going and I have to admit I certainly wasn't disappointed!
I loved the plot and the characters that the author has created are spot on for the era that the book is set in, as you read it you can visualise it being made in to a TV series - the Mechanic is an excellent villain. For me, this was another dark and compelling crime thriller and it again is excellent, just like the first book. I really need to read book three as soon as it is out to find out how the twisted story between Lucas and Mechanic ends after it certainly ramped up at the end of this book! I am sure there will be a fair few twists and turns before we get to the end. Absolutely loved it!! No hesitation to give it 5 stars - another brilliant book from Rob Ashman!!
After reading the first book in the series, Those That Remain, I was so excited to get the 2nd one, In Your Name. I just finished that one today and let me tell you that both of these books are truly amazing. I thought I was shocked at the ending of the first one. The ending of In Your Name is, by far, one of the most shocking endings I have read in years. I actually read it twice so that I could fully understand what was happening. The characters are deep and troubled. The story is full of twists and turns and you never know what to expect at any given moment. The Mechanic may be just the most heinous killer since Hannibal Lechter!!! Rob Ashman is a genius. I am so glad that I found this author and I hope he keeps writing for a very long time. The 3rd book, Pay the Penance, is being released on August 8th. The thought of having to wait until then to see how this whole thing plays itself out is making me crazy!! Thank you Rob Ashman for two amazing books and the time spent enjoying them!! Long live Lucas and company!!
This is another pretty sleek installment of the Mechanic trilogy. It picks up with the cast from Book #1 still hunting down a female serial killer after almost becoming murder victims themselves. Their manhunt (which has cost three Florida police officers their careers) takes them to Las Vegas, where the Mechanic has taken employment as a bodyguard/mercenary for a leading drug kingpin. With bloody and violent results. Needless to say, our ex-cop protagonists don't quite get her--there's a Book #3--but not for lack of trying Ashman is fantastic at weaving a plot together, but his prose does leave something to be desired. He's also a Brit or a non-American English speaker: floor instead of ground, tyres, materialise, lift, etc. It is a bit distracting because this would actually be a much cooler story if it were sent in England/Europe instead of Tallahassee/Vegas. Another note on the setting: it's set in 1983... for very little reason at all. That being said, it is a good read, and I'm excited for Book #3.
The story continues and flows effortlessly from book 1 and this is proving to be an unoutdownable trilogy.
3 detectives, all with a determination and blood list born from being on the receiving end of Mechanics twisted games, go all out to track her and kill her. The hapless trio, blunder on regardless of the consequences to anything and anyone else in their life, they have one goal and sacrifices will and must be made. Enter a 4th detective who's ambition and ego leads her to believe she can succeed where everyone else has failed and bring down Mechanic and you just know things are not going to end well.
A great read and with a bumper twist in the tale, can't wait to read book 3. 3 books in 3 days but my curiosity must be sated. X
Having read and thoroughly enjoyed the first part of Rob Ashman's Mechanic trilogy, I was delighted to receive an ARC of In Your Name from Bloodhound Books in exchange for a fair and honest review. I must admit I was a little doubtful whether Rob could match the tension and excitement of the first instalment, but this is equally gripping jaw-droppingly so at times, and his style of writing is natural and engrossing. It is difficult to refer to details of the plot without spoiling the series for those who haven't yet started it; suffice it to say that I am relieved that part three is imminent!
In Your Name by Rob Ashman It may seem a tad strange for me to say that things take a much darker turn in In Your Name, bearing in mind we're talking about a sadistic serial killer. However, i'm delighted to tell you they do ... a decidedly darker turn and I bloody loved it. If things were personal before, then in In Your Name the stakes are raised and Mechanic is out for revenge. Meanwhile Lucas, Bassano and Harper are joined by a new sidekick called Moran. In your Name is as dark as Those That Remain but it retains the humour, the pace and the humanity. Loved it , loved it loved it! ... oh, did i tell you I loved it?
This was nothing but one huge thrill ride! I just never knew what was coming next. I suspected but then I was about knocked flat by what would really happen! I am loving this series. The writing is great, the characters are wonderfully likable, and the serial killer is bad beyond belief! What more could a thriller reader ask for? This book picks up pretty much where the last one leaves off. Our favorite characters are still stuck on trying to figure out where Mechanic has slithered off to. The hunt is on and it's an amazing ride as we follow our old friends down a dangerous trail. I'm just loving this trilogy!
I had been waiting impatiently to read this 2nd book in the Mechanic trilogy and it certainly didn't disappoint!. Detective Ed Lucas and retired Detective Harper are obsessed with catching The Mechanic and the discovery of new evidence furthers their search. Once again this is a heart pounding thriller. I won't say too much about the plot for fear of a spoiler, but I will say it has its OMG moments. I was actually speechless after finishing In Your Name. Another 5 star read! A well written nerve wracking read. Desperately awaiting book 3.
Second in the Mechanic trilogy and it was a good read. Personally I preferred the first book, a female serial killer who was so bloodthirsty and evil was a first for me and I loved it. This one, I wasn't so sure, I didn't like the police detective Moran, I thought her character was unbelievable tbh. The 3 ex policemen , the drug cartels, the obnoxious Silverman all added to make it not so enjoyable for me, but in saying that I am going to read the final book, I need to find how it plays out.
