Entre las princesas Bizantinas, Atenais-Eudoxia es de las más fascinantes. Poetisa y filósofa.
Es hermoso seguir el corazón de un hombre que se enamora de una mujer hermosa, culta y con bondad. En este libro no sólo se lee una biografía, se contempla el latido del corazón de un hombre que se enamora siglos después de una mujer, a la cual intuye en el aire, en el paisaje, en el camino.
Sólo quien experimenta al mundo con todo su ser puede captar el estado espiritual de una época, que a los contemporáneos puede parecer oscura. La belleza de este texto muestra que la erudición no sirve sólo para colocarse en una jerarquía superior (como una nueva aristocracia) y la manera en que el compromiso consigo mismo y el gozo por vivir, está por encima de los laureles académicos.
