When you take what you want, you can't let it slip away again.

Selena Gordon is done with running, or so she hoped. Fleeing from an abusive relationship is a reality she has to face, but when it comes to the possibility of giving another man control over her, she's ready to stand her ground. No man, Nayanor or not, can make decisions for her ever again. Even if that man is ready to kill, destroy and conquer in the name of her happiness.

At least that's what she thought. But then *he* came along...

Ragnar is a man of lacking patience and it shows in everything he does. Impatient to find his mate, impatient to get her home, impatient to continue his life with her, he wants everything now. It never occurred to him that the rapture of finding his mate could come with a bitter taste in his mouth with her seemingly endless need for freedom sets her at odds with him and his people. A woman has never successfully escaped from a Nayanor warlord. When tens of them try and Selena's right in the middle of it all, Ragnar is faced with what impatience actually brings.

So what's it going to be? Can Selena learn to stand her ground instead of run, and can Ragnar cultivate the patience he never had, or were they doomed from the start?

Alien Raiders' Brides is a series of full-length standalone fated mates scifi alien romances with a guaranteed HEA, no cheating and plenty of impossible Alphas!

Good

I wanted to smack Ragnar several times. I really wanted to smack the heck out of Mjorn. Selena was very strong, I think.

ARC copy provided by author in exchange for my own honest thoughts, opinions, and posted review

Though the alarms sound, Selena knows it's already too late to escape the Nayanor raiding party who have dropped down from the skies intent on capturing all the women they can. Women who will be taken to Luminos and forced into matings with available single Nayanor warriors, never to to be seen on Earth again. Selena is the one female captured who isn't as upset as the other women as she'll be leaving behind her ex, an abuser, who won't let her go no matter where she runs to hide from him.

Harbinger Ragnar has had a premonition that on this date he will find his fated female though he has no feelings of joy as other Nayanor warriors do. History has shown that Terran females aren't to be trusted. Case in point is his brother who died a dishonorable warrior's death at the hands of his female. It's important to continue his family line and provide the next generation of warriors so he'll do his duty though he vows no female will have his love or trust. He'll make sure his female is kept in check and won't have the opportunity to deceive him or his stronghold and do her duty to provide him with physical comfort and children.

Selena is content to make her relationship with Ragnar work. The problem is that other women in the stronghold have had a hard time of things and want to leave, be it to another planet or Earth and are convinced that Selena is the key to making that happen.

* * *

Another installment in the Alien Raiders series that takes place in the same universe as Brion Brides series but is independent in it's own rite. I caution any potential reader to not read this as a stand alone as the series builds off previous installments but not a deal breaker to haven't read the Brion Brides series as they are two independent species with no direct contact between the two.

In this story Ragnar is the Harbinger (warlord) of a large stronghold who heads a raiding party to collect Terran women for his warriors. He's had some sort of prior premonition that he will finally find his own fated female which normally would be a joyous event, however, Ragnar has skeletons in his closet. On the reverse side Selena is running from an abusive ex and being captured by the Nayanor raiding party allows her to escape off planet. Not a bad thing in her book so she's willing to make it work. What follows is a back and forth journey of give and take as the two deal with personal issues while outside factors throw monkey wrenches into the mix.

As for the adult content romance between Ragnar & Selena. Ragnar surprised me as while he is all big and bad and likes to kill and what not, he's patient to allow Selena the time and space to get over her abusive relationship though he didn't totally lose his man card by tempting her at every opportunity wearing away her defenses until things just had to .... well, let's just say a good time was had by all.

Secondary characters. There were some who were good and some who were bad and some who were just ... psycho. I'll leave it to any potential readers to find out who fits which category.

This brings me to my problematic areas of the book. First is the timeline. While it's important to have read the previous installments of THIS series, the actual timeline of this story occurs years and years after Zar (Alien Raiders' Brides #1). I found myself confused as I wanted to know what happened regarding the Elders and their involvement with Terran female experimentation. Apparently nothing as no mention there. Also, fated mates were a blessing and treasured. Apparently something happened (can't reveal as this would be spoiler info) and that's no longer the case? What's up with that? Throw into the mix a bunch, and I mean BUNCH, of inconsistent details in the actual world building that I had to shake my head over ..... End result: this is the weakest of the series books for those reasons.

This all brings me to something that I've wondered about and can't get over. A personal gripe regarding the whole Brion/Nayanor warrior fated mate premise. It's not a secret that there is only ONE female who is fated to mate which is why they're both capturing random female clusters in their raiding parties . Odds are the women are gonna click with one of their guys if not immediately then eventually. Unmated Terran women are kept in a central pool of potentials until chance or whatever bring them in proximity with the one fated to be their mate..... So, what if one of the women who have been on the planet for years and years and years, cough cough Kathleen cough cough, was never intended to be a Nayanor bride but instead a Brion bride. That means a female won't ever have the chance to find her mate or her REAL mate to find her if he's on a different planet and/or such. That's my problem with this isolated planet parallel series. It's hard for me to empathize with an evil bad girl premise when I have those thoughts. ...... Just sayin'

End result, I appreciated and enjoyed this story though I haven't been able to jump on the total love band wagon side of things. Those who look for SciFi alien romance with adult content may want to check it out as it does have enough twists, turns, and romance to enjoy but that's only if you've read previous installments in this series.

I loved Brion Brides series.
I strongly dislike Alien Raiders series.
The whole thing is ode to Stockholm Syndrome. It doesn't work for me. I definitely wouldn't call it a romance.
On top of everything else in this book the hero (it grates me to call him that) is also physically abusive towards the heroine and is pretty much pardoned for it a day later. And they live happily ever after.

No. Just no.

Selena was in a very bad relationship with a man who abused her and controlled her. One day she got the courage to leave him and got a restraining order. She went back to school and was on a research mission when her ex came to get her back. In the middle of their argument, there was a Nayanor raid and a harbinger catches them and claims Selena as his own. Now she is in the hands of another man who wants to control her very life.
Ragnar is a harbinger who has a very low opinion of human women. He along with some other Nayanor men believe that the human mates have been given too much freedom and they can be a danger with their willful acts. His own brother was killed by his human mate and didn't even try to protect himself. Selena is a challenge for Ragnar. He doesn't appreciate how hard the changes in her life are on her. He expects her to follow his every demand and warns her of a Nayanor who has made it his mission to help control the human mates.
Selena is torn by her feelings for Ragnar. In private he is kind and understanding and in public he is cold and demanding. She has her doubts whether she will be really happy. There are some human women plotting an escape and Selena has to decide if she wants to join them.
This is a great series but this is my least favorite of the series. Ragnar has a hardened heart towards his mate until the very end. He comes across as mean and unsympathetic and possibly even a danger to Selena. His change in the end was great but I would have been more comfortable with more description of Selena's changed life. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Ragnar

This addition to the Raiders series is different than the previous books. It has a darker atmosphere, is more serious and the Nayanors are harsher and less tolerant. This is due in large part to the escape attempts by Terran women that have endangered the lives of the Terrans and Nayanors alike who are in the citadels sheltering from the annual month long storm that blankets the planet. Because of those disastrous attempts and the resulting deaths, many freedoms have been taken away and rigid rules have been put into place. It is into this strained environment that the new haul of women from Terra will arrive.

Selena Gordon has recently walked away from an abusive relationship and returned to medical school when her ex locates her. He is attempting to force her into his car when the Nayanor Raiders come. He is killed and Selena is instead forced into a spaceship by a harbinger who says she is his fated. Serena recognizes she has no choice but to go, but she is through living her life in fear of an overbearing, possessive male.

Until the death of his older brother at the hands of his fated, Ragnar had looked forward to finding his own fated. Now, he's not so certain. In his eyes, Terran women have proven themselves to be deceitful and treacherous. All he hopes for now is a civil relationship and to sire children that will help guarantee the continuation of his race. He knows that Selena is the key, but because of her past she appears to be broken. Only time and patience will allow them to build trust and to cement the bond between them. But Selena learns there is a risky large-scale plot to escape brewing among the women and she has been asked to join them. Will the fledgling love and trust she and Ragnar have initiated be enough for her to stay, or will she too betray him?

This KU library read is not one of my favorites in the series, but does give a counterpoint to the successes the Terran women have accomplished in the past. It does end with an HEA.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Selena has had a very rough life. She thought she had finally escaped the clutches of a possessive, abusive relationship. That quickly changes when he shows up at the library at school and starting crap. She tries to run, but just when Jake (the ex) gets to her, the warrior ships are right there. Selena knows this means death to Jake and she is being taken by the warriors. Only she didn't anticipate what is about to happen to her.

Ragnar is a lost soldier at heart. He is not the same since the death of his brother, and the worst part is that is was not a "warrior death" so it is not supposed to be remembered kindly. That is not okay with him, but he has work to do and he will do his very best. When he gets to his destination, she spots a man harming a woman, and not just any woman but his fated. This is going to end badly for that guy, but not for her and not for him, right?!

Ragnar is possessive as well, but not at all like Jake. He is following the rules of his people, to protect and love his fated with his own life. Selena being so fresh from the abusive relationship she was in, is not having any of this, only why can't she tell her body to respond in kind when he is around?? Ragnar sees that this fated may not be a good match, but he is invested to trying. Through time hopefully this can change.

At dinner one night there are things said and this leads to Selena running to the room. She stays there and releases all the tears she had been holding on to. Ragnar allows her time, but goes to get her, he is able to convince her to come back to the table and to help him understand what is happening. Little by little they seem to be getting closer. They banter now, and this pleases Ragnar, he wanted a strong woman beside him as his fated.

During this time there are conflicts that test their fated bond. Things move forward and this is where Selena decides to allow Ragnar to progress with the fated bond to connect them together. There is a lot that takes place for her to get here, but she is and they heat things up quite nicely. It is also about this time that the events that take place will test them and may ultimately be the end of them. Ragnar is given information about some of the women trying to escape, accusations are thrown around, there is an action that causes Selena to run from Ragnar. All pointing to the end of these two. Fated bonds have taken place an Ragnar sees this, a little later than he should have, but apparently at the right time. At that very time Selena is made aware of the events unfolding in front of her, and how she was used. Ragnar catches up and gets to bring Selena back to him and she goes willingly. Lots of action and twists actually happens during this whole book, and I will say I am so glad they get their happily ever after!

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Ragnar and Selena Gordon. When this book opens Selena is in the library working on homework for the local college she is going to. She has just gotten out of an abusive relationship and is trying to put her life back on track. Little did she know that when she re-enrolled that it had tipped off her ex-boyfriend and he had found her. Running has never worked so this time she is determined to stand her ground and fight for the right to have her own life. This however is short lived when the alarms go off letting them know that the Nayanors are there. They never leave men alive and Selena doesn’t want the guilt on her conscience. This isn’t something she will get to choose though. When the leader decides she is his fated nothing and no one will stand in his way. Can she be with him though when she is already so broken herself? What will happen to her if she can’t be what he wants?

Ragnar has been numb since the murder of his brother. He has no faith in the female species and doesn’t see himself changing his mind. However on this run he knows in his spirit that his fated will be found this time. He believes that it will make no difference to him all he wants her for is to provide him with sons, nothing more. However the instant he sees her in the clutches of her ex everything changes for him. As they spend time together he realizes there is more to her than what he originally thought. However is he as broken as she is? Can he make the bond work or will his past drive a wedge between them that they will never come back from?

How can two broken people make a lasting relationship work, especially when it is built on force to begin with? This is the question these two must answer. Also will they let the past drive them or can they look to the future and find something amazing. This book has many ups and downs I want to tell you all about but don’t want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book is amazing and will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

This the 4th in the Alien Raiders' Brides books by Vi Voxley. Although I love all of the stories by Vi Voxley, this one was not as riveting as the previous stories.

We start out in upper Canada where Selena has escaped to try to get away from her sociopathic ex boyfriend who used to abuse her physically. She's been trying to get back into a medical school program. Jake used her application as a means to track her location. He found her and is trying to drag her to his vehicle, when the alarms warning of a Nayanor attack sound. She has no luck trying to get him to rush with her into the shelter set up for this purpose. A raider ship spots the two of them and drops down.

Harbinger Ragnar drops down from the bottom of the raider and takes one look at Selena and knows that she is his 'fated mate'. Jake refuses to let go of her arm pulling and hurting her. This drives Ragnar over the edge that his 'fated' should be harmed, or even touched by another male, Jake draws a knife and holds it against her neck, pricking her painfully. Although Selena hates Jake, she does not want him killed and pleads for his life, in vain. Ragnar scoops her up and when his shuttle craft returns takes her with him back to his ship, the Nomadin. The entire raid took about twenty minutes and netted the Nayanors many females.

Once on the ship, it is increasingly hard for Selena to deny the physical attraction she has to Ragnar, perhaps even this so-called 'fated mate' bond. Once on Luminos, she is holding his hand and walking with him when a very angry warrior tries to attack her. Ragnar puts him in his place quickly, letting him know that she is never to be touched, that she is his 'fated mate'. He goes away still angry looking for some other hapless woman to punish. It is obvious that he hates women and has little use for them other than as breeders. He is one of the villains in this story. Another is a surprising character, that you must discover for yourself.

The story has the building trust and love between Ragnar and Selena, the vicious woman hating warrior, a traitor, and another villain. We do get our HEA at the end.

Ragnar: Alien Abduction Romance Alien Raiders' Brides Book 4
by Vi Voxley
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A Excellent SCI-Fi Romance! O Yes Another Spectacular Read. This is Book 4 of The Alien Raiders Brides Series. That you won't want to miss. I have enjoyed reading Vi Voxley Ragnar: Alien Abduction Romance Alien Raiders' Brides. It's a story that's thrilling, suspenseful, very well crafted and written for the enjoyment of those of us who always hope to find someone new yet something similar. Vi Voxley books are sensual, delightful, enchanting, blazing hot scenes and very entertaining. There's no secret that her characters are well developed, intriguing, strong, marvelous, chemistry off the chart and sexy. This is story features Selena and Ragnar. Selena Gordon is escaping from a her abusive ex-boyfriend when she is abducted. Ragnar is a Nayanors Harbinger, Alien that lacking patience and it shows in everything he does. Oh my this story deals with uncomfortable subjects, it has abduction, murder, domestic violence, betrayal and the strength of will these women show is phenomenal.. WOW this story is so enjoyable! It's really has fantastic characters with a great pace and it's well written. I enjoy it when a story grabs my attention from the beginning with me on the edge of my seat details. But almost at the end there is a argument that takes place that blows my heart away for just a moment, I thought the odds were stacked against them, but they have their HEA. This story is quite a page turner. I really enjoyed reading this book, but I'm such a huge fan of Vi Voxley and I have read and enjoyed all of her series which makes me highly recommend this book the story will captivate you from page one to the very end, I couldn't put my reader down. First Nayanor Book I didn't Like. I read this through KU. The Nayanor series has always pushed the boundaries of romance a bit since it involves aliens kidnapping human females to isolate them on an inhospitable planet. But, there has always been this chivalry-like code/ mantra that women were sacred and not to be harmed.

*****SPOILERS*****
In prior books non-harbinger Nayanors who violated this precept were disciplined or killed. This book suddenly departs from that tradition, describing a fortress filled with unhappy and abused women. The author I think tries to downplay this as all the fault of a cruel captain. But, it is not successful because the harbinger is the one in charge and therefore ultimately responsible for protecting all the women in his care. I found the harbinger in this book just as detestable as the bad captain. And MF forgave him far too easily. There was a trust violation and she just accepts him back with open arms when she realizes she was tricked by a human female; but, that in no way lessens what the harbinger did to her. So, her running back to him is just ridiculous. I really don't feel like there's a HEA here. The bad captain and his cronies May be dead but the abuse suffered by the women was far more spread than that. The epilogue feels like too little, too late. Hence, 2 stars.

“Ragnar” is another one in the Alien Raiders’ Brides series that takes place in Vi Voxley’s Galactic Universe. Several years have passed since the first human brides were taken to Luminos to help repopulate the Nayanor species.

Ragnar is a bit more stalwart than some of the other Nayanors but I loved how careful he was with Selena because of her history with her ex. Mjorn made for an excellent villain along with Kathleen. I will admit that there seemed as though something was missing in this story. Despite the circumstances, in the other stories, there was much more of a relationship between the two leads but in this one, there was far too much suspicion and while the reasons were hinted at (Mjorn/Kathleen), it still left me feeling as though something was missing this time around.

Like the other stories in this series, they all have a similar flow, which works well. Each stories functions as its own standalone but in order to immerse yourself in the GU universe, it does help to read them all.

* And this is the part where I indicate to the powers at Amazon that I received an ARC but am a bit late in posting my review. Thank you.

Does it bother me that the brutish Nayanor warlords kidnap women and force them to mate, while also keeping them virtual prisoners, often treating them very harshly? Yes, it does. I hope as the series progresses that the race begins to become more civilized in respect to finding mates but the main focus of the story is on Ragnar and Selena who have a very deep connection that even Selena recognizes. They have plenty of problems including his bad temper and impatience but he would lay down his life for her. Having said that, there is a point in the story that really shocked me when Ragnar acts in a violent way towards Selena that none of the males in Vi's other books have ever done to their mates; and even though he is remorseful it was still hard to see him in a more positive light again. However, this incident only detracted slightly from the overall story for me because it still has that smoking hot chemistry, exciting storyline, and those riveting action sequences that are a staple of Vi's books. I loved the story and can't wait for the next one.

I love this new series. It is getting hard to try and pick a favourite couple, but this story has to be a winner. I really enjoyed the interaction between Selena and Ragnar. He came across as such hard man, but in the end he and Selena found they could both be understanding when dealing with different ways of doing things especially with Warrior Aliens. I was impressed when he stood up for his mate against the male attitude of some of the warriors that females had to endure their lot and just obey their dictates and give no cheek in between. Definitely not something that would happen with a lot of earth women. It also helps to have your fated being a Nayanor Harbinger whose reputation is quite deadly to his enemies. I can see the world of the Nayanors slowly being changed in some ways for the better with the introduction of strong Terran women. A big thank you to Vi Voxley for the amazing review copy. Loved it. Highly recommend this series.

Another great read in the Alien Raiders' Brides series. This is book 4 in the series. Living on a planet cursed to only have sons, they have been kidnapping women from Earth. This is the story of Ragnar and Selena and what a story it is. It contains strong characters with all sorts of secrets.
Ragnar is the Harbinger who comes to Earth to find a fated. He meets her, but she has issues with violent angry men.
Selena has been abused by her ex-boyfriend to the point she has run away. On the day he finds her so does Ragnar her fated, who ends his life before her eyes. This relationship is already off to a rocky start. How could she be so unlucky? Will she learn to accept this harsh alien mate? Will she be able to escape?
I give this story 5 stars. "I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy without pressure to do so".

Selena just wants peace and freedom. Her ex was so abusive and now she is rescued from him by an alien who demands she be his mate without any question. It is not as easy as Ragnar hoped and it will take time for these two to find their way together.

I have really enjoying this sci-fi romance series. The men are raised to be warriors and live in a violent society. They see nothing wrong with taking women to be their mates. The women in the series have remained strong and true to themselves. There is a strong attraction but they try to be cautious with exploring that passion.

The story has the darker elements because of her past abuse and the situation but there is a real connection between them that gives them both hope.

I recommend you check out the whole series but you can read each as a standalone.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

I rather liked this book. It is a little different from the other Alien Raiders Bride books. This hero, Ragnar, tends to favor the old way of viewing the kidnapped brides. He also sides with the villain, Mjorn. Ragnar is a harbinger and rules with an iron fist. He sees the women as a means to an end. The heroine, Selena, is the victim of an abusive relationship. She has gotten the courage to escape her abusive boyfriend. Selena is able to make friends and change Ragnar's mind about the women. This story does have some violence but tends to be more about the mental games that are played by the human women and the Nayanor men. I would like to see a few more stories about these people and am looking forward to the next book.

Great story. Ragnar became Harbinger after the death of his brother, at the hands of his fated. He is in no hurry to find his.
Selena escaped an abusive relationship only to be caught in an Nayanar raid. She now finds herself the fated to a harbinger.
Ragnar can't deny his fated, even if he doesn't trust her. Selena just wanted to be free. Now she is in a new and more terrifying prison.
As their bond strengthens, Ragnar and Selena slowly let their walls down. Then Selena's lies by omission are revealed. Ragnar:s trust is shattered. Selena falls into the hands of a insane genius who would use her to destroy the Nayanor at any cost.
Loved Ragnar and Selena's story.

RAGNAR

I love this series and I'm always excited when a new book comes out. I loved Ragnar and Selena's story. It was entertaining and emotional, and an overall captivating read. Ragnar and Selena are strong characters but both have their own insecurities. Ragnar has yet to get over his brothers murder and Selena an abusive ex. But can they work together to get past their issues or is their bond just not as strong as they thought it might have been. There are lots of ups in this story but also a lot of lows, nevertheless it was a very intriguing and enjoyable read.

Selena is trying to get away from her abusive ex boyfriend when the Nayanors attack. She will no longer have to worry about her ex because Harbinger Ragnar has claimed her as his fated mate and is taking her to Luminos. The long night is almost upon them when the unthinkable happens. Wow, this book has well written, exciting, sexy characters and an action packed, sometimes suspenseful plot with surprising twists, a must read. Fantastic, I loved it!

For lovers of Firefly and Serenity...

Rather could be set anywhere, here on earth just as easily as in space. Because this story deals with the very human concept of recovery from trauma. Making the setting in space makes it more fun to read, and the baddies and their twists keep you guessing. The characters and supporting cast are so well depicted you feel like you know them. Ragner is still your typical bada$$ harbinger, possessive and bossy, but he has a huge heart. Selena is smart but has a ton of baggage. Their journey is well worth your time.

Best so far!!

Well done! This story really brought up some strong serious issues about being abducted. Real issues of fear and resentment that still have to be worked out if this planet wants to survive. Their species is filled with attitudes and thinking that has to change. I hope to see more changes as the series grows. I liked Ragnor. He grew the most in this story. Selena is good for him and she has some realizations at the end. I enjoyed this book. There is some sex but not so much to ruin the book. This story was not a simple fluff piece. Enjoy!!

Another stunning story of women kidnapped from Earth to become "breeders" for a race of warrior aliens! Each one of Ms. Voxley's stories has added such an entertaining couple of hours to my life that when I reach the end of these action packed, emotion fueled stories I pout! These warriors, Harbingers, are so uniquely individual that you find as many differences in their personalities as likenesses. Just totally compelling nuances that steal your breath and the devotion to their "fated" uncompromising....gosh I love this series!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Selina was tired of being told what to do.
Ragnar wanted everything to be done his way.
It is always fun to watch a Nayanor tried to "woo" his mate.
The clash between them it is always entertaining.
In the end, love does win.
I can't wait to read the next book.

In all the situations he had planned to find himself in a position of his own making. After the harsh punishment put down for the good of all he wonders if they had adverse side effects. Finding his mate just may have helped make those decisions plus show him where he went wrong.
Fantastic story and addition to the Alien Raiders. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy for an honest review.

Another great addition to the series!!

Loved this book, and I'm thrilled that the author is also addressing how not every bond is a happy one for the kidnapped women. I hope that she keeps working towards a workable solution for all the women in future books.

Loved this book tho!!

Wow. Just wow.

I have never read a book where the hero actually hits the heroine. I've read books where the hero (or heroine) cheats and I give those books one star reviews as well but if there was a lower rating I could give an author for writing a hero that hits his heroine I'd happily give it.

Like other reviewers have said, I too will not be reading anymore books by this author.
